This mob is the trigger for the corrupted hill giant, as the corrupted immediately spawns after he is killed.

Everything on this hill excluding the orcs at the encampment are ph's. Kill everything even the fire beetles. Took me about 2 hours / 200+ hill giants and I collected about 8kp. I think I was very unlucky, hope this helps.

I think so too. I found him to be the easiest to spawn of all the epic mobs.

I killed the tainted today (2/18/2008), and the corrupted took its dead corpse place, so yes, it still spawns.

does tainted still spawn after revamp in rathe? have hunted hgs a bunch since revamp and now that my druid is actually needs for epic cant find at all. about to petition guess try here first nothing posted here in almost 2yrs so not sure.

Does the tainted have PHs or is he a random spawn? If he has PHs then what are they?
As allready mentioned a few messages above, I am confirming, that he can spawn multiple times. As the corrupted himself just drops this epic thing, I wasnt in the mood to waste mana on him. So I let him stay alone, after killing the tainted. At the same time there was a second up, and I killed that one too, but THIS time NO corrupted spawned upon him.
So .. tainted able for multiple spawns .. corrupted only be able once in zone.

Just a little hint for low casters...
If when this mob is at low health you move out of standard agro range before it dies, when the corrupt pops with no-one in agro range it tends to de-spawn within 30 seconds.
Can also confirm that the Tainted does on occasion have drops.

Heard this now spawns as a Fabled mob and he drops a fabled lambert stone, for the event bard armour.. Anyone know if he summons and the details of this mob? Been campnig him for the past few hours... Made a few 1000pp but no FAbled=(

Gotta love these posters that spew some lie like this, and post anon at that. Fought him today, lvl 39, was blue. The resulting corrupted that spawned right after was yellow to me.

I have fought the Tainted Hg for several weeks leveling from 28 to 35. I started fighting Hgs at 28 and soloing them at 30. I can tell you first hand that the Tainted HG is 33 to 36 in level. He first conned even to me at 33 and has still coned yellow to me some times at 35. I have seen 2 of them up at one time and both conned different collors. Although I have not encountered one as high as 40 I will not be dogmatic and insist that it is not possible. HOWEVER, this is just the banana peal. He peals off like a banana skin to reveal the Corrupted HG.

The tainted mobs never have loot, not even money. The Corrupts, however, drop items used in the Druid Epic.
I just looted 9pp, HG toes and a FS Great Staff from a Tainted Hill Giant.
Of course, being OOM I had to Fear away the Corrupted and then emergency camp after looting :-)

The tainted is lvl 40 as he was black to the 40 tank (hey Jorm) in our HG killin group. A 40 druid kited this guy past us, and when the corrupted popped he was oom so we killed the corrupted (also 40 and black to the tank).
Being a druid I took the stone as it is for the Druid Epic quest.

The other day while me and some others were fighting HG's we came across a Tainted Hill Giant. We were all 35'ish and we took him on pretty easily. He was a solid red though and hit a little harder then a normal HG. Immediately after we took him out the corrupted Hill Giant popped in his place and we were already weakened from the last fight, we were forced to "ping pong" him between tanks while the healers tried to keep us healed. After numerous minutes of this we finally took him out, and he dropped an Ancient Rock. I'm not quite sure what it's for, but some people in my group said it was for a Ranger quest. Being the only Ranger in the group, I looted it, but am not quite sure what quest it's for. Any feedback you can post on it would be greatly appreciated

you need two other "signs" of corruption, one comes from something in Lake Rathe, Rathe Mountains, and something in Everfrost.

This is a piece of the Druid Epic. Kill the corrupt Mammoth in Everfrost, the corrupt Aquagoblin in Lake Rathe, and the corrupt Hill Giant in Rathe Mtn. The loot off these three mobs must be taken to the Withered Treant and the Druid will receive the Cleansed Spirit of Antonica, one of 4 pieces needed to complete the NatureWalker Scimitar.

Tainted was blue to me at 38. It was also blue to a 37 I believe. The corrupted that spawned from it was yellow to me, and red to the 37, so I'm assuming it was level 40.
The stone from the corrupted is for the Druid epic quest, I believe.

I was camping Hill giants in rathe mountains when i came upon a tainted one i killed him and the corrupted spawned..i got the corrupte giant to he drops a accient stone no drop not sure what it is for but would like to know.. a 45 druid can solo them easy with roots and dots..

It for one of the FA quests. Probably Druid, although there is some arguement about it possibly being Ranger too.

This giant is not 45. It conned blue to me at 42. However at the time I did not know that his death would spawn the corrupted giant so that was quite a shocking suprise and I had to beetle for zone.
