this is what i found, though I did not have a long wait time for him, i found that my brief Hours spent there he would spawn every 19 min as said, but it was 2 large goblins, then 3 shamans, 2 more large goblins, then 3 more shaman's, then 1 large goblin, and then he spawned. a guess would be the large goblins are the actual placeholders, and the shaman's are placeholders for the large goblins ? i do not have more research to back this up, just a thought. any other idea's ?
This was evil...up till 4:50am because by then I'd been camping for 13 hours and knew he just HAD to pop soon...sure enought just as I was about to give in and go to bed POP! Can confirm that you do NOT need to kill any mobs next door to get the spawn, just the PH.
Heh, I thought I'd post here while I wait for the lord to spawn. I am camping room with no problem at lev 51. This il be the last drop needed before spawning Ragefire as I have already gotten the drop from the char king. I am curantly on my 11th ph and the campers before me said they were at about 13 hours with no spawn. I asume that would be 39 ph's so thats a total of about 50. I found the best place to camp is the se corner in the east side of the room. It seems there are three mobs total that spawn in the room. All spawn in about 19min of kill. If you have multiple mobs at once I use about 3 aoe nukes and they all drop or if you are doing one at a time it takes about two nukes. I have no hp/ac buffs on and no c so it is a pretty easy camp. I will let you know when he spawns if he spawns Smilz 51 cleric ..Luclin server
im luky, he was up, so i brung him to zone with warior, killed him, and looted him with cleric. Not bad for 1 minute! Ive killed him 10 times before when i was there! (different times of corse)
Camping it right now with my cleric 44 and ranger 40..., i am over 10 hours camp CONSTANT atm... A ton of Ph, killed half zone to try not be to bored no Lord G....
Where does this guy spawn exactly? I have looked through the quest and all it says is that he spawns in Sol A .. no location or anything. Is there a specific location?
Just an update of Gimblox's randomness to you from experience on the Terris Thule server.
It was the day before yesterday (7/29/03) when I went into SolA to add to my already 10+ hr investment in the Lord Gimblox camp and I find it camped. I was actually happy because it gave me an excuse to slack off a bit.
The guy (Ef lets say) started about 8 or 9am EST, I walked in on him about 12:00pm sad he was there for 4 hours already. I who all'd him several times until I logged after 12am that night and he was there. When I started playing yesterday he was still there, 24hrs later. I didnt ask if he slept but I commended him on his patience and he didnt say he stopped to sleep. I who all him again at 12:30pm and he is in Temple of Solusek Ro, he said he got Lord G about an hour ago finally!! Now if he stayed that whole time your looking at about 27 hrs.
I head into SolA to start my marathon camp before someone else ties it up. First spawn at 12:53 and only 8 PHs later (under 3 hours and only about 4 hours after he spawned for Ef) Lord G.
So at least you can go in there and know that at any given time you have shot at him. Not that it matters I guess ;)
hmmm from what i've read so far it seems like it will be a long camp, although i did bergugle in just under 9 hours, and 3 groups, but stayed afterwards to help a druid i was gorouped with look for her mob. we saw bergugle twice more in the time, and no tainted, i saw the tainted with teh first groiup of duids i was with once.
Anyway.....
since i will probably be there for a bit, maybe i will take a group of guildies who can actually get exp there and do some buffing and healing to help them out, as im sure i will ned theor mains to help me out quite a bit for ragefire and bathezid..... maybe ill even dual box it and take my lvl 10 warrior to the bazaar to look at uber stuff for me to buy for myself, and try and haggle some good prices /drool at Hate Forged Pauldrons and Mischevous Platemail Breastplate
hmmm cest la vie
hehe sig is wrong, im actually a 46th cleric of bristlebane, probably at least 49 by the time i go down there to take this clown on.
took me 41 phers, and the spawn was right on time, not 1-2 mins later. was able to solo at 46 down there with no problem, didnt end up killing him til 49 though. I wasnt killing anyhting else around him and no one else was in zone so killing things in the zone has nothing to do with the spawn, its just random
I got lucky on this camp. I went through about 2 1/2 hours and 7 ph's (keeping tally ended up being a nice way to pass time) before the Lord popped. One thing to note: I was keeping strict watch on the spawn timer, and just before the Lord popped, the timer delayed by about 1-2 minutes. Maybe a way of predicting the Lord? A monk friend mentioned that the same thing happened with Pawbuster in KC. Instead of a ph popping on the timer, 1-2 minutes passed before Paw popped.

While other people have seen no change in spawn time, I definately did. Got Gimblox on 9th cycle after waiting about 25 mins. The gobbie on the other side of the room (whom I had killed after Gimblox' ph) spawned minutes before Gimblox did.
Well, 26 PH's and many hours later, I got Gimblox. It was a harrowing ordeal indeed, but I learned a few things down there:
-The PH spawns at the North Side of the room, near a stool and some cushions.
-The PH is on a 19 minute timer, give or take a few seconds.
-I found that the best place to sit and med and avoid aggro was right at the PH's spawn spot. While I was there, I never took any wandering aggro (except from the PH's of course).
-Gimblox has roughly 1800 hitpoints (Took 3 shots of reckoning to take him down).
-Keep a tally sheet of PH's. It will help you realize just how much time you've spent on this stupid camp.
-Have some friends to talk to. That was about the only thing that kept me from going insane.
I hope you other clerics can benefit from this info. This is one of the worst bottlenecks (in my opinion) of the whole epic. Once you get past this, its (mostly) smooth sailing from there.
Been camping Gimblox for 6 hours so far. Not really expecting to see him today.
Took over a week to get Bergurgle =(
Anything that needs killing tho is rather easy. Took 53 Necro (me), 55 Bst, 65 Pal, 63 Dru and 52 Clr (my gf) about 2 mins, if that, to kill the Plasmatic Priest right at his spawn.
Not expecting Ixi to be any hard either. Already did him in several times.
Then it's off to gather those elusive Pearlshards, which is seriously boring, but at least it gives exp and loot while doing so, and it's easy (for a 53 nec and 52 clr partnering anyhow)
Then to slay Ragefire, which shouldnt be hard either. So what IS the hard parts?
**Edit** Oh yeah, forgot about the King's note, but really, of all the royals in chardok, the real pain was always the Queen, so the warriors got the bad end of the stick there O.o
took plasmatic priest with me 56 cleric and 65 monk NP at all easy kill took few mins. and camping this dude in SOL a for about 3 hrs so far no luck atm i will be here till he pops
Went there today with my cleric and chanter (dual box) figureing I had a couple of hours to kill before work. Killed the PH and the priests then sat down to wait. about 15 minutes later a priest spawned across from Lord Gimblox's spawn point and got chanter pet working on that and sat back down. When priest was at about a third life chanter was attacked by Lord Gimblox. Pet finished off priest, killed Gimblox, cleric looted ring and I was out of there. Total time there about 30 minutes.... Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good....
I've been camping him off and on for a week now and I'm up to about 24 hours. :( The guy before me was there for 27 hours. So, he's gotta be coming up soon :) As for his HPs. He has about 1800. and Hits for about 76 max.

I don't know if I just had amazing luck with these camps or if their spawn rate has been changed but when camping Bergurgle, he popped after killing the PH once. Went to Sol A right after killing the Spirit of Flame, and Gimblox popped after killing the PH once also. 'Twas a good night for me =)
Rysha, 43rd Cleric of Tunare Rytellian, 52nd Enchanter
Been a while since i camped Bergurgle. But decided this past Friday night I was going to sit and wait for him. Killed his place holder and he popped in that spot. Was grouped with Druid that needed tainted or corrupted whichever. So after we got Bergurgle, I went to take care of the spirit of flame... and got a tell from him. Bergurgle had popped again. Yes twice in a row. Amazing. Able to get guild cleric over that needed his crown. Anyway, short time later we got the item for the druid. All in all 2 hours and had 2 Crowns and the Druid epic item. Not a bad night.
Now I am down to this guy. Going to try and camp him tonight.. Perhaps my luck will hold out and I too will get him after killing the place holder one time... fingers crossed.
I would strongly advise that you do NOT MQ this piece. You will be forcing the MQ'er into doing the most difficult globe of the whole quest. I speak from experience as I now have to go back and recamp Bergurgle and Lord Grimblox /rude
If anyone happens to see either mob pop please send me a tell in game, I'll be happy to come save both drops from Rot winning them =p

14 Hours and no Lord G. The person that posted that killing other spawns in the area to get Lord G to spawn is inaccurate. I have killed 300-400 gobblins now and he has still not spawned. Good Luck!

On The EQ Atlas Map it is the largest room between the numbers 17 and 18. Also known as the Thrown room. You'll know it's the right room if there is a recess in the center of the floor and there are chairs on the sides.
The PH spawns on the North Wall in that room. If you stand at -800, -365 and look north you'll look right into his eyes when he pops. (Well I guess you gnomes will be looking at his knees.)
Difficulty: ================== Con: Everything here is GREEN to a 52 Cleric
The only trick will be in Getting to the Room, as almost all the goblins will agro you [I'm level 52 at the time of writing]. The most efficient way I have found is to keep running till you get at least 3-4 goblins on you (I prefer more, much more fun that way) and use a Point Blank AoE. I use Upheaval, Level-52 Does over 600 points of Damage.
Once in the room you will only need to worry about the occasional wandering goblin and maybe a friend he might bring.
As far as the PH itself one or two casts of Retribution (500DD) and it will go down.
EDIT: Occasionally Priests will spawn in nearby rooms. These will Heal your intended targets. I now clear the adjoining rooms if there are priests in them, but leave them alone if not priests.
No the difficulty isn't in the mob itself. That is in the next section.
Spawn Time: ================== The PH respawn time: 19 minutes
I Have yet to Kill the Lord. I'm now at over 30 Place Holders (PH) still no Lord. I'm sure he'll eventually show. Over 30 PH at 20min a pop... Yes over 10 hours. (I think I’m going to stop counting now.) It will be well worth it when I can 96% Rez multigroup wipeouts.
In Conclusion: ================== Patience for long camp (or luck), that is what you will need here. In the mean time I'm writing this info out for others; so I can keep sane. Bring a Gameboy, or sit where you can watch a movie as well. The wait is the killer. A stopwatch or timer is also an invaluable tool.
Hope some find this useful.
