Eldrig the Old:

Exact spawn Loc is +560, -4010.
He and all PH will aggro on you if you sit there.

Spawn time is 13:00 min, give or take a tick.

Placeholders are not all level 51 as another post suggests.

well... heres my story..

killed everything in the graveyard (wizzy zone in) area for about 2 hours... had bard prked at the loc listed (500 N4000) he poped after about 5PHs... took him down solo with 58shammy...
he dispells top2 slots and summons... at that loc there is alittle fold in the ground.. he spawns along that fold between like 3or so rocks on the left and alittle pointy piece of wall on the right... (when u see it ull know what iM talking about)

he is the only thing that goes by that loc. Except the PH's from the 2nd spawn location.

He dropped the guts and the Book Immortals for monk epic.. total camp about 3-4 hours =/

Estimating that Eldrig's PHs at location positive 500 negative 4000 all to have the same level as Eldrig himself; 51. Spawn rate after finding the right PH is 12 minute intervals.

How do you know you found the PH? Well, when your group camped back at /loc above kills the mob you sent there with Highsun, you'll get a faction hit. Then you know you have your mob, and you can go wait for all those on the table before him to spawn. Eldrige was my Blackjack; number 21.

Spawns during my 4.2+ hour camp:

skycinder drake (SCD), a chromadic (C), a wyvern (W), a bottomless gnawer (BG), SCD, BG, a mature wurm (MW), MW, skyash drake (SAD), W, MW, W, W, SCD (now cooking rice on the side and trying on seasonal gifts, nice new fancy tie), BG, SCD, SAD, SCD, C, W, Eldrig the Old!, MW....

OK here is what I did.

Had a grp with and went near the BW zone in and killed everything that moved.Ended up moving towards the wizzy port and again killed everything that moved.I had my bard camped at the exact location of the other posts(had him a few feet away so he didnt get spawned on.After about 2 hours of killin, grp started to disapate.Went back over to where the PH spawns and sure enough as soon as I started to head back I saw the PH spawn at that EXACT location of the above posts.Funny thing was...the PH spawned earlier but didnt think it was PH because right after it spawns it will start walking almost instantly. So now that I had identified the PH,I sat and waited. After 2 PH's Eldrig POPPED!I couldnt believe he popped so fast but I had heard my guildee say that he had gotten him to pop 3 times in 5 hours one night. So to sum it up I think the hardest part was actually getting the PH to spawn.Once he is spawned its just a matter of waiting and killing PH's.I am sure all of you have done the infamous AC or SF camp...trust me i dont think this camp is nearly as bad.Oh and another thing, the PH spawn time was a little longer then listed.According to my computer clock they were about 15 minute timers.Hope this helps all the fellow bards!

Notes on Eldrig (recaps and updates)...

placeholder spawnpoint loc: pos 581, neg 4014

list of verified placeholders: "a chromadrac", "a mature wurm", "a skyash drake" (these three showed up repeatedly across approx 10 spawns, so there may be others)

placeholder respawn time: approx 13 minutes & 8 seconds

The mob itself appears to have a few more hit points than a mature chromadrac, and similarly (and annoyingly) debuffs & dots like they do. As previously mentioned he is immune to mez... but note that he can still be charmed ^^.

Since you can charm him, you can DoT him up with a shaman or necro and then charm him while the DoTs do their work. Soon after, when he is at low health, break charm and finish the kill.

Max hit from Eldrig was under 150 points on the tank at the scene, and he appears to double attacks only. His MR seemed to be the standard low value of other Skyfire mobs.

Took this guy down today with a 49 shaman, 61 wiz and me (51 bard). Fight took about 3 minutes because the wiz kept getting summoned but none of us dropped below 90% health.

edit: wanted to add i only camped him for 5hrs and this was the first time. that lucky or is it just me?

Killed him easily yesterday with a group of high 40s/low 50s, think my Mage was the highest at 52: we'd just ported in to go looking for the named wurm drops in Burning Woods and saw him from the druid portal. The only problems we had were the three adds we picked up during the fight and his dispelling of useful buffs.

Easily solo'd today as 65 bard - just put 3 pop dots on him and then charmed a mature wurm into him - wurm did good but then got add and wouldnt attack eldrig so i let him break and then Faded - charmed a wyvern and finished him off, was easy stuff - finished fight with 50pct health (1.5k)

After coming back from Karnors from an unsuccessful 1hour mini raid to get my petrified werewolf skull i came thru skyfire in hopes to see Eldring on track.
After wondering for a while I saw a named drake, i think for the monk epic. I began to kite it for fun. Then i saw Eldring on track and i couldn't belive it.
I raced toward him but then realized i probly should try to solo him as a 57 bard alone, after all he summons. With the other named rake on me I charmed it andput it on Eldring who ripped thru him.
I tried to fear kite but it wasnt working, and when it failed i got summoned and my selos and lev stripped, very annoying.
So i just charmed Eldring, didnt think i could but he can be charmed with the lvl 39 charm, and grabbed some mobs to beat him up with.
He got his dot off it seemed everytime charm braked, as well as summoning me and stripping my selos. He doesnt run at 20% either, mind u so i kept charming him.
He was getting kinda low and so i invised to break charm. It went thru when Eldring reach 0%! So i hit him with a dot and ran like hell. It finished him off and i looted the guts with only 17% health left and a fire dot still on me.
That was an experience i dont get everyday from EQ.

Fairly simple mob to kill, best way seems to be fear kiting, MR is a bit of a pain, so as a bard start your twist with Occulsion of Sound, snare, fear, and melee to death. Swap in a self haste now and then to increase damage. Fight will last about 10 minutes tops.

Drops guts everytime.

Getting him to spawn is the hardest part. Best way to do it is to have someone stand at the spawn point (/LOC +500, -4000) then run around with selo's and chain sing Song of the High Sun, which gates your target back to its bind point. The down side to this is that every mob you gate will aggro you and you will make quite a train .. but after 5 to 10 mobs you should find the PH.

At this point run your train to the zone, then head back to the PH location where your partner will be holding the mob. From here on in you can solo the PHs till Eldrig the Old spawns, which is the hardest part.

Spawn timer is set at a firm 13 minutes, so be prepared for a long camp.

Do not attempt to solo this as a bard untill level 58, if earlier you may have a great deal of trouble sticking your fear/snare/MRdebuff. Also at level 58 we get a very nice self haste song.

Good luck :)

Great post Lotanna:)

Got a 65 druid friend to camp the spawn while i gated the mobs at BW ent... the first thing i gated (Wuyrm) was the PH. After my druid friend killed him (Thanks Farseeker:) ) i logged my main 65 necro and camped the spot... after one cinderdrake eldrig popped, killed him with preduce, logged my 56 bard and got the guts:)...

Another spawn cycle spawn spot for eldrig
# Aug 07 2003 at 5:30 AM Rating: Excellent
Firstly, the EQdiva info on this spawn is right on the mark. had a friend park up at spawn loc while my 63 necro slaughter at the BW zone. After 40 mins a mature wurm popped at spawn point. Ran necro down and killed it. spawn timer is exactly 13 mins. had to stay there for 8 hours but it popped finally, killed with necro then logged my bard and looted.

Went into skyfire today to chant kite few blues till ding and there was a bunch of people killing at BW zone line looking for frags for cleric epic. Thought to myself, wonder if they make it pop so i logged necro on who was still there at the spawn point and 3 mins later PH popped. Just as it died another mob came wandering along the wall and agrooed. I thought that was strange becasue there are no mobs that come near the spawn point. So the next spawn i killed quickly then moved down a bit further, (toward the big dragon statue) and i saw another mob pop and started to head toward BW like the eldrig spawn spot. Killed it thinking i wonder if this another spawn point. the Loc is pos1750, neg7870. i sent my bard friend a tell and he came and joined me to get the guts. Well we camped there for 4 hours killing both loc's, all but 2 of the new spawn spot headed toward BW zone but 2 went off toward the middle, but killed them all the same. That made me think that it was just a spawn point for a normal mob. Well like i said 4 hours later eldrig spawned where EQ divas says it does. ( Bard was very happy) I said wouldnt i be funny if eldrig spawned at the other spawn spot as we were running there. Well we couldnt believe it, no longer had i hit enter eldrig spawned at the new loc. We were speechless to say the least.

So I thought i better share what i found out, doubles chance for getting eldrig for all you bards going for your epics. By the way, if you wanting to buy MQ on rellos zek server send Mersekeret or taita a tell:)

PS: i keep a log of all the pops on my first 8 hours camp. The PH mobs are as follows.

4 Skyash drakes
6 Mature wurms
6 Wurms
3 yvern
4 Bottomless gnawer
4 Sky cinder drakes
3 Chromodrac......... I stopped writting them down after a while, but it was never any other type of mob. Therefore that is what you want to kill at BW to get the cycles popping. Also the second spawn loc is not far away at all from the EQdiva loc... like about 20 seconds running.

Well i hope this info helps:)

RE: Another spawn cycle spawn spot for eldrig
# Jun 03 2004 at 7:14 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, eqdiva's info is 100% correct.

As for the PH order, it is completely random. I have seen him spawn twice in a row, and I have killed PHs for 6 hours straight and given up and gone to bed.

Best method for bard soloing is Fear/Snare, imo. Make sure you stay right under his butt to make sure the fear song reaches him. Keep him feared, and he can't cast.

With a 55 necro. Pull with splurt run away. Use jboots so you can click them again if he manages to land a dispell, but that is very rare if you are far enough away. Run to a spot and click invoke fear until he is in range. ONce feared use insidious regression to snare him. Then run ahead and use dooming to resnare. Sick pet and just keep him snared and feared. Most times you never get hit unless you dont refear in time. They do have a ton of hps so pet takes a while to kill so might want to add a plague to add some damage and a BoD. If you ever see him up, just ask a necro to fear kite it for you.

Can be killed with a 65 wizard and a 56 bard.

Bard constatly fears Eldrig, Wizard casts Atols Spectral Shackles, and nuke's Eldrig. If you engage Eldrig at his spawn point (North of the entrance to the Over there), you should have no problems with adds or killing him before he adds.

Wow lots of spells on that list, whatever... Killed him twice, both times he had gut and nothing else; No coin, no drops, not even wings or essence like normal chromas. Immortals is rare off lots of skyfire mobs so I could see that dropping off Eldrig too but I didn't see it.

Tactics, these are assuming you are a bard since he's for bard epic:
He is charmable, he is mezzable, he WILL summon you when charm breaks even if you just charm him to keep him from dispelling you on the pull. Someone mentioned being out of cast range I have pulled many chromos and have yet to find that "sweet spot" that is out of it's cast range but close enough they won't give up chasing you. He casts a dispell that is target AE so stay away from your group members so you all don't get dispelled he also casts a magic based DoT that can be dispelled.

I did this in a duo with a druid but my guess would be a bard with either a druid or cleric or a chanter or wizard or necro would work, preferrably the healers but I could see it being done with say a wizard. Basically you split snare and fear up between you and your partner so if its a wizard he keeps BoF up and you fear if its a cleric you drop chains and let him fear etc. I wouldn't try more than 2 song twist just because he likes to resist and also like many "flying" MoBs has a tricky range for AEs like fear so I went in with provocation and fear while my druid kept ensnare up. If you aren't doing fear then keep fear breaks coordinated and when you need to pull him back charm him and let him follow you, if you are the fear guy watch how far you let him get into the zone and charm him to get him back. From there I meleed I'd suggest that over DoTs because you can't keep enough DoTs on him and still do fear or snare plus it keeps you in range for bard AEs. Another general chroma tactic that works with Eldrig too is to bring a non chroma add in with you, even a normal chroma can munch an unnamed skyfire mob so just keep Eldrig charmed till the add is dead that should soften him up a little.

Two pull tactics, one is to tag him with a no damage spell like snare song then keep selo's running as you pull, this works OK but watch out for hills if you get levitate dispelled and you can usually stay ahead of him for the 3 second recast time of selo's. The other tactic that I prefer is charm, simply charm Eldrig with 39 charm song then run back to pull spot avoiding adds. If you get only one non chroma add thats fine, use pet Eldrig to kill it which will knock a few HPs off him before the add dies (mature wurm barely phazed him but it was 20% of his health we didn't have to deal with) if you get a chroma add zone and try again.

Solo tactics that didn't work for me:
Chant kiting (regen3 no run AAs) he summons too much and hits too hard before you can get away although you can outrun him with no speed buffs.

Charm/swarm kite he eats most skyfire mobs as light snacks I couldn't find enough mobs and keep him charmed long enough before I got summoned so much at charm breaks I had to charm/park/zone to survive.

Solo fear kite never tried it, too many resists you would be hard pressed to keep snare and fear song both up just twisting those 2 so your DPS would be too low to kill him before you died.

Hope that helps some bards, good hunting.

What we did to spawn him
# May 28 2003 at 1:48 AM Rating: Decent
My guild got him to spawn today. WE followed the guide at www.eqdiva.com. We first had the bard stay at the corrdinates where the PH/Eldrig spawns while a full group of us clear the bone graveyard east of the druid portal until the PH finally spawned. Took a few more later and then Eldrig pops. Hope this will help anyone who has doubts about the guide.

Took him out yesterday w/ a 53 Cleric partner. I twisted chain and 3 dots, cleric feared him and kept me healthy from the occasional dot that Eldrig would cast and not dispell. When he started getting too close to other things, I charmed him and brought him back to the starting spot (his spawn spot was our starting btw)

Took about 5 minutes once we spawned him.

I got very lucky, and at 52, finally slew Eldrig. Now, mind you, in my first two encounters with him, he killed me once and almost got me the second time. I guess it was third time's charm. Anyway, I used to hunt just north of the OT zone. It is a good place for a soloing Necro as the fear pathing takes the mobs along the wall all the way to Ragefires spawn point.

Eldrig, fortunately for me, could be feared, if I couldn't have done that, I would have been necro toast. It took some time to kill him too.. I got a bit closer to Ragefires spawn point than I really liked. My hands were shaking for most of the fight too.

When I finally beat him, I was only summoned twice, because twice, fear broke early. Apart from that though, I didn't let fear break or wear, because believe me, by the time you've splurted him, plagued him, and envenomed him a couple of times, he really doesn't like you. I know he didn't like me. He summoned me quick as lightning each time.

Anyway, his pathing takes him along the wall, heading south towards the OT zone, so if you can catch him at that spot just slightly north of the OT zone, you can fear him along the wall without fear of adds.

Another point of interest too, if you have any kind of extended range item as a caster, you can pull chromodracs of any kind without getting dispelled or dot'd, as even with their new evil casting range, it is still smaller than extended range II (which I have). I also use spell haste II, as it makes a BIG difference when dooming darkness and invoke fear have that faster cast time. I don't get chromo dot'd anymore if I hunt them.

Au Revoir for now.

Yes, it was a very hard fight, about 9-10 minutes as slow wore off 2x. The first time I pulled him I tried just to pet kite him to BW pulling with Malosi and Turgur's, but after pet tanked for about 20 seconds I got summoned. Zoned into BW and medded back to full. Went back to SF and made and buffed pet ( yeah, big waste of mana ), and pulled Eldrig again. I equipped my epic boots for instant sow and again pulled him to BW with malosi. I was able to get far enuff ahead to cast slow on him before he reached me and sent pet after him with taunting off. Eldrig did not pay attention to pet after he debuffed him, and my second cast of alacrity stayed on him the entire fight nearly. Eldrig cannot be kited as he always summons, so I just JBB'ed while pet ate him up and I kept slow on him ( you MUST time it or you will die quick when it wears ). Eldrig did not dispell himself the entire fight and all I had on was SoW and pet had haste. I just healed myself with superior heal as hp neared 50% and ran oom and Eldrig turn and ran. ( note: after my mana dropped from full I switched out mana/WIS gear for AC gear to better take melee shots ).
Would have been much easier with a SGSE for another instant buff as he seems to dispell first then melee. He boil blooded me ( DoT ) , which was dispelled within a tick or 2 ( his dispells affect ALL spell effects on you , not just the good ones ).Also at 56 would have had a better haste spell for pet which would have helped alot. Not soloable without a JBB at this level I dont think, even though I could have Lifetapped 900 hp from him with my Ivandyrs Hoop ( assuming no resists ). Summoned me alot at the last 25% or so of his life even tho I was standing right beside him. Has about 15-20k hp, not sure as I didnt keep track and had pet's melee damage turned off for less lag, and hits for 140ish max. Dispell is NOT and AE effect, as pet was next to me the whole fight and didnt lose alacrity except when it wore off near the end. Hope this helps my fellow shaman. No idea if an non ogre shaman would get stunned too much to do this--I was in melee combat with no buffs for 10 minutes with a level 51 mob. Was able to JBB cast successfully thru most hits even with like 80 DEX, and almost all of them hit for full damage once he was Malosied ( both slow and debuff landed first time every time ). Dropped bard guts which rotted as it was early morning and only 7 bards on from level 40-60, 3 of which had their epic already. I have far from uber gear too ( and no epic yet ), aside from my JBB my other gear could all be bought for less than what the JBB costs ( only 194 WIS and was wearing a BS tunic at start for +4 WIS, switched to TreeWeave after my mana pool, dropped some for AC. Other equipment mostly JB gear, even used Totemic legs for AC ). It can be done, just is very hard. Good luck and better strategy :).

Just took out Eldrig about 10 mimnutes ago for my epic peice =D. Was gonna try and solo him (56 Bard) using snare/fear songs, but after reading posts here it seemed he has so many hit points that I would deffinatly have gotten an add before he was dead. So I politly asked (begged) a 57 wizzy I saw medding near by to help me with him. Fight was quick lasted about 3 minutes. I pulled him to to a spot near the BW zoneline then wizzy snared and I started in with fear song and melee. Then wizzy proceeded to nuke the hell of Eldrig until he ran oom and I meleed him for the last bub of health I looted guts and we took off.

level 40 monk and a level 53 shaman took this one down today, hit for 141, summoned constantly, and dispells everything repeatedly even it's own dots it casts on you. If your fully buffed it won't even attack for the first part of the battle just mass dispelling tell all your buffs are gone, if you have a gobby earring I'm sure this guy wouldn't be a problem he'd spend the entire battle just dispelling Grim Aura, I kept trying to cast haste on the monk and it would just dispell it. It had 20K or so hp and it fell at oom(must have cast JBB effect 15 times while healing monk). If a 40 monk can tank it I'm sure a bard with a gobby earring and a shaman to slow it shouldn't have a problem ;)

this is what i did at lvl 55 ( necro )

i was lucky to have him close by the zone to bw. fear him first then snare and load dots send pet in med and refresh snare and fear. i sued splurt ib and bod then stiched bod to deflux. once he was donw to 40 healf i chain deflux him down. no summonds no death but itdoes take donw your mana since you have to prevent him from getting you always keep him feard and it should be ok
