I must be crazy cause i decided i was going to camp this mob again. I had a character camped at each of the 2 spots. Went with other chars and cleared as much of the zone as i could until mobs started spawning in those 2 spots. Nailed 29 placeholders in one spot and 24 so far at the other spot. I haven't seen Eldrig the Old in either spot or anywhere in the zone. I honestly don't remember it being this bad. The hard part was always just getting them to spawn in both spots. Once that was done it was just a few place holders and eldrig would spawn. It finally spawned in one of the spots and i was able to kill it to get the epic drop that i needed.

Location 1770, -3850, -167 , which is the north of the 2 is where I got him to spawn. It seems from the info here, that he can spawn in either spot. The trick is to camp something on each spot, until you finally kill the one that respawns on your spot. I had a chromadrac spawn on first respawn, and I waited until respawn to note what spawned, and it was .. a mature wurm. Once you have at least one spot, you can just kill that spot. The spawn after the initial respawn was Eldrig for me, but it did take me an hour and half to bard track the area and pull. Im thinking that the spawn doesn't path all around the zone possibly, but stays relatively on east/northeast side of zone.

This was a huge bottle neck for me on the Bard epic. It took several nights in this zone and probably 8 hours of time to finally get him to spawn. The main theory below is that you park a FTP character or a second account character over at his spawn point and then run around high sunning mobs until the one single mob in the whole zone that spawns over on the east side of the zone lands on your FTP and starts hitting them.

I tried this the first night and it was taking forever. It took me much longer to high sun a dozen mobs than it did to just run around and agro a group of 12 of them and kill them all real fast. It doesnt really matter if you high sun or kill, eventually something should spawn on your FTP character and you are done. If it is a PH then you still have to run over and kill it (if you high sun) and will have to wait on a respawn.

So the second night in the zone I would wipe as many mobs as i could see in various portions of the zone. Basically I focused on SW of the big lake, then NW of the big lake, then NE, then SE, then back to SW... and so on. The thought was that eventually I would kill the PH and Eldrig would show up on track. I left my FTP character at the south Eldrig spawn point and did not get a single PH or Eldrig to spawn on her. This was the result of 4 hours and hundreds of dead mobs. I even swam the lake and killed anything hanging out on bottom. It boils down to killing or high sunning the PH, and if you never cross its path you are simply out of luck.

Night 3 I just parked my FTP on the East side of the lake out on the outskirts of the mobs and pulled huge trains to her. The majority of the zone (around the perimeter) does not have mobs, they all seem to be somewhat near the lake. Eldrig never showed up on track.

Night 4 I did the same and just pulled mobs to my FTP shammy. It only took about 30 mins and he showed up on track on the east side of the zone moving south towards the zone in just like on the maps. Ran over, keeled his arse fast, and collected the guts.

Good luck, this was not a fun part of the epic.
Notes on Eldrig spawn on Vox

Let me start by saying this is my 2nd Bard epic. The first time was so long ago, 8 or more years ago so I don’t remember much about it. When I came back to EQ after many years gone I found my character was hopelessly outdated so I re-rolled on Vox. However this meant needing to do my Bard epic again. So I came back to this page to see what I could learn about Eldrig, and found that there is nothing really known except the 2 potential spawn locations.

On Friday night I was passing through Burning Woods and saw Nezzy on track, I wacked her and got the guts. So I decided now was the time to get Eldrig. I parked my War bot at the North Spawn point and began Highsunning mobs. 20 minutes later a drake popped at the North Spawn point and I killed it with War bot.

This is where the first difference occurred, the respawn was 10:45 not 13 minutes. I don’t know if all spawns have been shortened or this is just on Vox. I sat through 2 hours of respawns with no Eldrig.
Day 2, took me 1 ½ hours to get the PH and 3 more hours of no Eldrig.
Day 3, 3 hours and no PH. So I moved to the Southern Spawn point and 1 hour later I had it. After 3 spawns I had Eldrig.
During my time in Skyfire I noticed that the mobs would frequently stop for 30 seconds or so and then move off, sometimes there would be a stack of 3 or 4 mobs on those spots.

Being a programmer and Systems Analyst I was curious about the Eldrig PH and whether it had any pattern to its movements. So after killing Eldrig I waited for the next PH (a drake) and followed it for 85 minutes. This is what I learned.

When the PH left the spawn point it traveled south to the Overthere ramp. It turned West passing just north of the rock at the bottom of the ramp. It went west for a bit, stopped for 30 seconds and then moved off on pretty much the same line. Eventually it reached a point SW of the big Lava Lake and stopped for 30ish seconds. Then it went SE. I plotted all of the movement s of this PH for 80 minutes, at which time he was tracking across the middle of the lava lake so I killed him and waited for the next PH. This one, a wurm, followed the exact same path south to the Overthere ramp and then West to point 1, from here it went a different route to the NW.

Here is the map of its movements
The odd squiggles on the map tracks are because the mob tracked through one of those peaks and I had to run around it. The track from 9 to 10 is a straight line through the Lava Lake, I had to run around the outside until it emerged.

Here’s my hypothesis;
  1. The zone is full of “Intersection Points” that the mobs randomly travel between.
  2. When a mob reaches its target “Intersection Point” it will stop for 30ish seconds then pick a new IP and travels in a straight line to that next IP.
  3. The Eldrig PH from the Southern Spawn point has a fixed track till it reaches point 1 (takes about 10 minutes to cover this distance), then it is random.
  4. The Eldrig PH can be any type of mob, so concentrating on “just chromodracs” is not a good idea.
  5. It appears the Eldrig PH could be anywhere in the zone (sorry), but he did cross the area south of the lava lake 5 times in 85 minutes, so it might be a good place to concentrate your efforts.

I assume that this basic information is good for the Northern Spawn point, since it would be crazy for a lazy programmer to code 2 different mob techniques in the zone, but I can't confirm, except that the initial track from there is NW.

A possible technique for those who aren't able to kill every mob in the zone...
  • Pop a familiar at the start.
  • Kill the next oldest mob to your familiar (check tracking), this way you won't keep killing respawned mobs.

Good Luck!

Here is what I did. I logged in my druid and parked her at one spawn location, and my mage at the other. I then took my ranger and started tracking mature and regular chromadrac. Within half hour my mage was being hit on by a wurm. I switched to druid and a Wyvern was right by her so I tagged it. Voila I had both Ph's down. I can't believe it I was there last night just running around and thought I be smarter about it and this worked out great. Within half hour Eldrig spawned at the druid location. The spawn itself was weird cause a sky ash drake was on track and then disappeared and Eldrig was there instead. It can be done guys. This was the last piece I needed for my baby bard. Now off to get her some levels so she can start the quest. Good Luck!

This guy sucks.... mobs are spread out all over the place. Finally got it to spawn on the East side of zone around the P 550, N 4085 after basically wiping out the entire zone with 100 MAG and parking the bard at that spawn point. There were several different mobs types (wyvern, wurms, devourer, etc.) that spawned before him so it's impossible to figure out what "type" you need to kill.... Map picture inc...

Edit - Found him again and Highsuned him to the 2nd spawn north of the first one. P 1765, N 163

For skyfire map locs -

Yah, you need to sit a character at the spawn spot and clear the zone. Once something spawns at the spot just north of the Overthere zone, it is all down hill since the respawns are fairly quick. I did it in November, and it wasn't so bad.

To my Skyfire 2 map. Seems like an odd spot but will keep an eye out for any spawns close to that spot. EDIT: No luck. It was up on a mountain north west of the druid port in spot. Had a character camped up on top of that mountain even though i figured nothing would spawn up top.

I spent some time killing placeholders around the area that fcoty mentioned. That caused the ph to spawn at around Positive 1750 Negative 3850. The other one took a lot more clearing to do. This clearing took place between the Overthere entrance and along the lava trail leading to the lava lake in the middle of the zone. I don't know if it was one of the ph along the trail or closer to the lake but i finally got the ph to start spawning at the other location at about Positive 550 Negative 4000. This took multiple characters so you may want to bring help if you don't multi box. One person sitting at each camp and one killing everything in those 2 areas.

Here is what I got today,.... took me a 7 hours to get Eldrig the Old to spawn. I was boxing a mag and 2 trackers. A bard and a Ranger. I parked the Ranger at -1750, +3850 and went to the center lava pool. I was fighting at the South east part of the lava pool. I focused on killing a mature chromadrac, because that spawned Faerie of Dismay. And RIGHT after killing Faerie of Dismay for the 5th time I seen my Ranger getting attacked on the group window. I looked at my Ranger screen and sure enough he was being attacked by Eldrig the Old. Killed him and bard looted the gut.

I hope this helps

So I too used the Highsun method.. I parked a toon with merc on each PH spot..

+560,-4010
I found this guy exactly where everyone else reported, once you leave the Wiz port go east out of it, then turn north. There is a lava stream straight north.. Either clear all the mobs or Highsun both sides of the lava stream.. Sitting on this spawn point I killed 50+ mobs and no Eldrig.

-1750, +3850.
I found this guy by clearing mobs in the large center lava pool and everything to the north/east an south/east of the center lava pool. 2nd spawn and I got Eldrig..

1st spawn, 12+ hours 5kpp & 14aa's (lvl 66), 2nd spawn, 2 hours flat..

This was early in the afternoon. I set two timers, did homework, laundry, raided on main, etc.

With a spawn every 11 min I've got over 75 spawns and no named and I had things timed enough that it didn’t rot by mistake. I was going to do this for the Epic Ornamentations coming up but this is just a ridiculous and I give up, GL next guy to try

Was at that place because I didn't found the placeholder for the other loc. Killed countless respawns for 2 days then Eldrig the Old spawned. This camp is really ridiculous. Killed countless mobs and leveled my toons up on that place. Needless to say that I ruined my faction with the dragons. Before that I tried to get up with dragon faction in Mistmoore. PLed a toon from about 29 to 47 there but still threatengly. So it seems that was a wasted time.

End of story: Eldrig will spawn but don't expect to be lucky....

I'm a bored 90 wizard with max AAs who had a gut for a long time from getting a cleric the pearls for epic 1.0 by AEing in Skyfire. One day a bard asked in /general if anyone could MQ gut and so I did. Last week I decided to go to Skyfire and try to get the gut for a bard friend. Skyfire used to be a scary zone.

My strategy was to kill "150" mobs and then run to the spawn spot on the east zone wall mentioned here (p565, n4011) . I've done this maybe 10 times and finally today a mob was at the spawn spot. I killed it and Eldrig was the next spawn. My friend wasn't on so I looted gut to MQ it. Then I got to thinking that I could get gut for every bard that wanted one.

So right now I am sitting here and killing a mob every 13 min and watching a CSI marathon. He spawned again after 20 kills and friend's bard came for gut. Then another spawn after 9 spawns. Finally I got tired and turned the camp over to a bard.

Spawned him twice. Plant your toons at the pop spots. Bard goes to wiz port in. Go out the wall east of it, then turn north. There is a lava flow just north of it. Start High sunning all mobs around that flat area near the lava flow. Both sides of it and any mob you see south of the lava flow. Stay in that area and eventually you will high sun the right one.

PH or this guy spawn precisely at the coordinates +1770.97, -3844.78.

respawn time is precisely 13 minutes, 8 seconds (give or take a second)

Hope you're ready for a long camp. I've had 12 ph's in a row so far, after I finally managed to kill the ph near the bottom left of the map. Was killing 40-60 mobs at a time with my bard sitting at these coordinates for about 2 hours before one finally spawned here. Don't let one get away, or you have to start over.

Good luck, bards!

Just confirming that +560,-4010 is a valid ph. managed to find this mob out in the horde mobs WITHOUT an alternate account by memorizing what the spawn point looked like on both +560,-4010 and -1750, +3850 then highsunning every mob and bind sighting them using Lyssa's Solidarity of Vision (there is no range limit to our bind sight spell) and checking to see if they popped at either spawn point... takes about 8 seconds total for each mob. the mob popped at +560,-4010 and i hightailed it over to that location which i had marked on my map and tried my best not to lose the target as i ran. camped and he spawned at about the 6th ph.

This was a little bit of a pain. I tried doing the Highsun method and decided that mass pulling and killing with my main is a faster way to find ph. The spawn location is pos 1775 neg 3844, which is in northeast part of map close to wall. If you come from overthere you can follow east wall to the spawn point. The hardest part is finding the ph, who has been wondering around for days, and getting it back to spawn point. I found ph in southern part of zone. 13 min on respawn time is accurate. Ph con light blue to 56 Bard.
Ph Possibilities: (but not limited too)
Wyvern
Skyash Drake
Skycinder Drake
Chromadrac
Mature Wurm
Finally Eldrig the Old spawned after bout 20 those ph

location pos 1775.0, neg 3874.43, neg 162.69

I was facing 2 clicks north of west which is the direction the PH will go,( if you forget to sit like i did once and they dont aggro)

place holders were...

a chromadrac
a bottomless gnawer
a wurm
a chromadrac
a wyvern
a mature wurm
(oh boi looks like i not going to get quick spawn, heh)
a wyvern

fixxing to have to call it, hope i can find the ph again

oh did use the highsun method to find ph, which was just east of the southern most lava pool

I completely agree with above post. If you're running around using highsun you are bound to run into the same mobs multiple times and not realize it.

I am assuming that at this point you'll be at least 65+ before trying to do this epic. So just set your bot on the mentioned loc and just run around slaughtering everything till the ph pops on your bot.

After finding the PH, took about 10 kills of the PH before i had Eldrig pop for me. I must say this was the most frustrating part of the epic. Good luck!

Can confirm the best way to find this guy is to have either someone or a boxed character stand at +1750,-3840. While you go around highsuning every mob possibly on track. I found my mob around Veeshan's Peak. Once the mob gates back to +1750,-3840 kill it and the respawn time is 13 minutes. Good luck.

Just did this with brother for his new Bard was easy. Parked my Enc at(+560, -4010) spawn point . Mage Parked at the (+1750,-3840) spawn point. Bard went off an started Gateing all the mobs back home started in center toward the area in middle of straight out from Overthere Zone line an worked out from there believe the bone yard by wiz port in next. After about 25 min's the Mage at (+1750,-3840)spot had one land on her head. well after a few more mins bard took a break mage had 3 pops 13 min's apart an then nothing (maybe one got away not sure), Bard took off to Gate more mobs. This time one landed on my Enc head at the (+560,-4010) spot I set a timer for 12mins 35 sec's an started watchen TV watchen screen more closely when it was time each time the mob spawned on me head at 13 min apart took about 10 or 11 spawns to get him me brother's bard got his piece.

I did make sure to sit my enc on the ground after each pop. so that the next mob popped it would argo me (but thats just common sense). When timer went off i would look toward screen for pop, Every time a mob spawned it attacked my enc an my pet in turn murdered it. Then i sat Enc back down an reset timer an went back to the Tv . Both spawn points seem to work we had luck with the one at (+560,-4010) but i would say to park a friend at both to be sure.

Thie does work if you dont like how long it takes "its a epic get over it" LOL

Spawn Points are (+560,-4010) an (+1750,-3840)

Works like a charm. It took 14 straight hrs of PH's at +1750 -3840 but he finally popped. The original PH was wandering the SW corner of the big lava lake.

Cant seem to find any ph at all, been standing at both spots for 2 hours and no ph. then once I can track from spots is far out into zone, so no mob is wandering along the wall either way..

Anyone got any idea on what I should do?

Highsunned his PH back to (+1750, -3840). Went as far from the spawn as possible and started back highsunning everything in my way. Far west wall and just a bit south was where the mob was walking. Must have been up a long time.

Yeah, sat my box ranger on the spawn spot (+1750, -3840), ran round the southern part of zone with necro and killed anything that moved. Mostly around the old boneyard, where he used to walk round in the old days when the spawns didnt all hang in the middle.

After 25 minutes a mob spawned on my rangers head, started attackin him... YAY, kiting ranger =)

Ran necro to there, killed it, 13 minutes later Eldrig popped, died, and happy bard alt logged in and looted.

Just wanted to say I can confirm the -1750, +3850 loc for the PH of this mob. I ran for hours highsunning everything...finally WAAAY in the SW'sh area of the zone, i highsunned a sky ash drake.

Just wanted to add that your spotter (or your alt on another monitor) has to be very quick to catch it...as soon as it gates back to it's original spawn point, it immediately takes off towards the west. If i blinked longer than a second I would have missed it on my alt's screen watching the PH spawn point. So make sure you check the spawn point *right* after highsunning every mob you do or else you can miss it.

How in the world did ya'll just magically Highsun the right monster.
I've been highsunning for a week for a couple hours straight and never get anything back at his old spawn point.
And I haven't randomly seen him up in 2 months either. Lol.
Is there any certain area I should highsun or does the PH roam the whole zone?

Woot! Just got my gut!

I started trying to find Eldrig at level 51. Simply kited anything I could on the eastern side of the zone near his 2 spawn points. Didn't work although I did learn alot about charm kiting.

Level 56 now with highsun. Read all the posts on every board. Had 2 spotters back at Eldrig's spawnpoints and headed to the WEST wall on the other side of the zone (north of the druid port in). Highsunned anything from the mob list that I saw / tracked. Didn't take but maybe 10 mobs before a skycinder drake started hitting my spotter at Eldrig's "old" spawnpoint (p500, n4000). All 3 of us converged on that spot and started camping it.

Every 13 minutes a new mob spawned. On the 6th spawn, we got Eldrig. The warrior took the hits so I can't offer advice on how to solo him with the bard. But I can confirm that he still will spawn at his "old" spawn point. So just do whatever it takes to get either of his spawnpoints spawning again.

This has to be the worst part about this epic, is this mob. I had camped the old location for two days infact with no sign of him. After getting tired and fed up I decided today to move camp to the new location, p1780, n3860. After three hours, he popped=) One happy bardette! This was a pain.

I did do the method of having one toon logged in at the location while I went around zone gating the mobs back to their spawn point in order to get the PH where it should have been, once that was set, it was easy to just wait for the ph to pop every 13mins.

Good Luck Bards.

Confirmed, his spawn point is +1750, -3840 since the 2006 patch.

The best way to get him to spawn instead of killing 1840143 mobs is to have someone sit at that spawn point (+1750, -3840) and have the bard use his level 56 Highsun song which gates any mob back to his spawn point. Do that to any of the following mobs:

a wurm
a wyvern
a chromodrac
a skycinder drake
a bottomless gnawer
a mature wurm
a skyash drake

So run around skyfire and do that and hopefully you get him to spawn. Worked for me in a matter of minutes. His respawn time is 13 minutes. GL bards.

I can confirm +1750, -3840 and all the above info was correct. I put another toon at the old loc near entrance tho just cause i was paranoid heh. Best of all tho after first high sun next spawn was Eldrig the Old himself. Oh btw don't just stay near boneyard area tried there over period of 3 days like 1h 2hrs at a time and no luck. This last attempt i did boneyard then just roamed off like far north from overthere entrance and the pher was a chromadrac roaming out in the middle of no where.

Hope the confirmation helps anyone who's had crappy spawns once ya find his phers.

edit:

I been working on my twink bard epic and today I zoned into skyfire to find TWO I repeat TWO Eldrig the Old up and gated them both to there bind spots to comfirm their spawn spots and I can comfirm both the spawn spots post before spawn him.
p1780, n3860 AND p500, n4000

Not sure if the patch w/e it was done took off the old loc for him but i'd camp both to be safe going from this quote above.

This is my first post, i always love seeing reconfirmations so thats why i posted.

yes, the decay rate for corpses in skyfire has always been the same.. it is determined by the zone, not the items they drop.
