finally got this guy...not sure if it was luck or plain coincidents...

after hunting this guy off and on for 2 weeks, approx 15hrs...i was bored and took out the 3 goblins from the camp...low and behold look who shows up, tainted followed very shortly by the corrupted...

saw a previous post about killing the cyclops from the neighboring isle and thought i might try something different as well...

thats my 2cp...

Hey guys.

There were many times I wondered if I was at the wrong camp. I camped this guy for 7 hours straight yesterday and logged in a few other random 1-3 hours other days. He finally popped for me today. I had a 66 mage (non elemental) with the 66 airpet and he was able to kill 4-5 sea fury cyclops at a time.

The Tainted spawned at pos 1200, neg 6000. We were camping right around there. That area is right by a goblin camp and MANY giants path through that way. Immediately after the Tainted died the Corrupted popped and all was well. The battles were never challenging for the mage.

We killed the bard mob (Quag) about 12 times.. he is much, much more common then our mob.

I camped this guy yesterday, about 2 hours in the afternoon and then another 2 in the evening. The group I had later (my 55 druid, a 59 pally, and a 53 warrior) went through them a lot faster, eventually killing 3-5 in a pull. I do think that the more you go through the more likely the tainted is to pop. It would have taken me forever to do by myself since rooting and rotting solo takes forever and these guys. The beaches are definitely the best places to avoid adds if you don't want them. Good luck and watch out for the mana draining named for the bard epic. Cash and drops weren't bad, either, during the camp.

i was camping the seafury island by mistake today, assuming that is where the AC spawns... and i see the tainted clops spawn and ask my guild about it, they told me to take it out. so i sent my pet in and killed him rather typicaly. then to my surprise this guy spawns and i was quite low on mana... hasted my pet, slowed the guy and used my epic for some dot damage while i medded on my drog. all the while i had a guildmate running to me to get the item.

took about 10 minutes since i didnt have enough mana to proporly dot him, but i was never in any danger once he was slowed.

At level 57 I was able to solo this guy with KEI and I might have had virtue, you don't necessary need it.

I myself, like many others, didn't know that he summoned so I was in for a surprise when I snared and then rooted him. I took him to the SW part of the island because it was the clearest at the moment and proceeded the menial task of casting Winged Death, being summoned, running back to a certain spot, and re-casting WD after it ran out. It took me about 5 minutes, a bunch of dots, threw in a few nukes to speed it up, and a few heals (you could probably dot then hit numlock so when he summons you get away before taking too much damage) to take this guy out. Tainted was cake so there's really no need to say anything about him. Root rot works fine against him.

Mainly posting this so that you druid's out there know that you can solo this if you gotta =)

I did a slightly altered version of your tactic and it worked like a charm. My Druid is level 55, and had only slef buffs and KEI. What I did was after I snare/root/dotted him I just ran in circles around him just out of melee range. When he would summon me my finger was already on the up arrow already so he would only get one or two hits in on me before I got away. Would redot/root as needed. In the end he was dead and I was at about half health and had a bit over a bub of mana left.

Solo'ed him today - 58 pally. used LoH's , had KEI and Virtue, was at 71% hp's and 23%mana when he dropped. Pulled with nulify magic and he didn't summon on the pull. He did however summon constantly during the fight. Very fun fight, and there were 2 corrupted up at the same time!!!

Last night I decided to check and see if he was up. I zone into OOT and run to the island and bam there he is. But alas I didnt realize he summoned so 3 minutes later im sitting back in PoK. I get an SK to come with me from my guild and we go back after him. What we did was i snare him and pull him to AC island then once he gets to island just have SK fear kite him around and lay all your DoT's/nukes on him. We downed him in just a few minutes.
Took him solo
# Nov 06 2003 at 2:40 AM Rating: Decent
Took him solo today with my 56 Beastlord 4 times within an hour. I've never seen him spawn so fast. Luckily there were a couple of Druids there who had yet to loot that part of their epic. My pet basically takes the Tainted solo with only one heal but the Corrupted is much tougher. I pull him with my slow spell and he has yet to summon me. I believe it's true, he will not summon unless you inflict damage. Once he's down to about 30% I jump in and help pet finish him off. He does hit for 145 damage and even with my 36hp regen., he can make a dent in your health. All in all, Beastlords rock.

Important Points:
The mob doesn't summon until you damage it, at least it appeared that way to me... so use cancel magic or a snare to pull it to wherever you want to dispatch it.
Hits for 145 max, can double hit.
Approx 15k hp. (seems like it was 3 rounds of my 3 best dots, and then a last round of 2 of them).

The Story Version:
I was/am trying to finish up my epic. I came to the island, checked track, and tainted was already up. I killed him, corrupted spawned. I didn't check any forums, so I didn't know that the corrupted summons. It surprised me at first -- I kept trying to DoT him in between summons and healing myself every once in a while, but I went LOM (was already down some from tainted). I egressed, boung myself on the middle island, and went at it again. It was a repeat of the same scenario except I got adds from the idiots on the SW part of the island (was semi kiting it around -- my fault for not looking behind me lol, was only one other person in zone, and I was them on other island, so I wasn't worried about them). I tried to get help, but it was very early in the morning, and hardly anyone was on. I medded to full, and went after him again. I snared him and dragged him to just West of the abandoned ruins. I rooted him, Dotted with Winged Death, got summoned, backed up, Dotted with Drifting, got summoned, backed up, dotted with Ro, got summoned, backed up, healed, summoned, back up, sit for 2 seconds, stand, get summoned, etc, etc.

He would summon about every 10 seconds (maybe is was 12, that would be 2 ticks). I would heal myself every 4 or 5 summons... This mob hits for 145 max, but I was mitigating pretty good, so he would hit me for 40s and 100s most of the time (skin like nature, self-only AC/thorns buff, Regrowth, and of course KEI and SoE, as well as having full elysian armor and a couple of other nice pieces). The key is not to be sitting when summoned, because he will hit you for full damage every time. I learned that the hard way. When he finally died, I was down to about 30% life and 5% mana. My stats if they matter to you were as follows (with above mentioned buffs):
1732 hp
909 ac
100 agi
255 wis

Xaritus Dragonwill
55 Druid of Tunare
Tainted still spawns?
# Jul 01 2003 at 11:56 AM Rating: Decent
I just spent 9 1/2 hours straights yesterday killing sea fury's and no, not even one, tainted ever spawned. I was there so long that the AC spawned on the neighboring island and no one was even camping it (I got the AC ring). Anyway, during the 9 hours, with the help of others, I was able to kill every cyclops on the island before respawn, kill Quag (named) numerous times and still nothing. Anyone know if they might have been nerfed in a recent patch? This is on Mithaniel Marr BTW.

Still works. I camped the seafuries for about 3 days, a couple hours each day. Killed maybe 30-40 seafuries and the tainted popped. Didn't realize the Corrupted summoned, so of course I had to egress and pitch a 20 minute fit for not coming here first and reading up on him. Now all I have to do is find a group, with tanks, high enough to take the level 52 corrupted but willing to sit and kill level 38 seafuries until he pops. Only took me 3 days the first time. What moron figured this part of the epic out?

Easy fight
# Jun 04 2003 at 5:06 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, I think fighting in the PoP has toughened us up. 55 enchanter and 45 cleric were able to take him down no sweat. Got hit a couple times, summoned once, but all in all, was a real easy fight. Just let the pet tank and have the cleric heal and throw in an occasional nuke or two. Once slowed, this guy is no trouble at all.
Easy solo for a 51 Mage
# May 22 2003 at 4:26 PM Rating: Decent
Hmm..funny, this guy wasn't too hard for a 51 Mage to solo. It's not to hard, take down the Tainted(easy, Earth pet will have 70% left)..once the tainted falls, corrupted will spawn..make sure Burnout III and Damage Shield r up..pet will be at about 15%, then summon a new one, if anything, kill it right b4 the spell finishes, then send ur new pet. The Corrupted will be atleast a 60%, then just nuke it with ur 49 Nuke which should hit for about 800 a pop
Cyclops go boom.
# Apr 16 2003 at 10:21 AM Rating: Decent
Here's how the battle went for me: myself (a 50 druid) and a 49 necromancer took the corrupted down last night. The necro kept him feared and DoTed and had his pet do the tanking duties, while I made sure my DoTs and Snare remained on him, also taking care to handle any adds (one aggroed during the fight, I quickly rooted/snared it and continued with the corrupted). I don't think either of us got summoned once, since he was either feared or attacking the pet (which got taken down to 50% health on its own) for most of the battle. Corrupted went down, got my seavines, and that's now half of the items for the corrupted portion of my epic. Good luck taking him down... I'm sure he can't always be this much of a pushover.

wile camping for the AC, i was running around after i killed gornit, and unfortunatly my invis wnet down right in front or the tainted, well needless to say instant aggro, just me a 46 shammy with kei and my RL GF a 41 pally. we didnt know who he was but he conned red to me so i avoided him all day, until my invis poped then i had no choice, well we killed him in about 10 min just the 2 of us and them whammo the corrupted pops, like i said i didnt know any of this until after i logged and looked it up here, well we and my other half were able to get him to 2 bubs befor my pet died she died and i got to 1/2 bub of life, so i gated out. he may be an epic mob but i think although he is quite mean, that if just the 2 of us could do this much damage to him at our respective levels, then he shouldnt be that hard for a small group of 3 or four. i know if we had 1 more tank there we could have taken him. and to any one who was on the island when all this went down, im sorry for any inconvience i might have caused you, but it wasnt intentional, and i didnt know.

hmm...

think you are asking "can we multi-quest on the epic" ...

No.

Not that I am speaking from experience, but all the other epics I know about can't be. (Enchanter it's physically impossible, have to combine all items in containers for single turn in's for example.)

Also the only way to find out if the "cleansed spirit of fadwyer" is MQ capable is to have someone try it.

Corrupted Brownie, not such a problem.
Corrupted Seafury Cyclops, not such a problem.

-Corrupted Seahorse- is a -problem- to get to, to fight, and to loot. (cause everyone else who sticks around to do this fight is probably gonna wanna roll for it too.)

No one in their right mind is gonna risk wasting the seahorse drop just to find out if you can MQ it. So...

no.

I did the seahorse with a single group of nobody over 60. It was me, another druid, my beast friend, and a wiz and we had noooo problem getting there or taking him out.

I just glanced at the map and we invised through most of it until we hit the area with Estrella, which, the first time through, was empty. We didn't need to fight anything until we were right outside the caves and took out the mermaid out there. We cleared the seahorse caves easy and got no pops on the first respawn. Then we just waited around and got a tainted right away on the second repop, took it out, spawned the corrupted, a quick fight with no errors, and bam, got the epic piece for me.

But we still had to get one for the other druid, so we waited.

The first repop didn't yield a tainted, so we tried to kill the ones outside and in that big shaft area but got ourselves overwelmed and killed.

I nabbed us rezzes, dragged the corpses back using invis, rezzed up, and went at a second attempt, this time we had to worry about Estrella though.

We accidentally got aggro on the way through with invis but had no problem dispatching her as the wiz manaburned for 6k dmg and the beast did this trick where he beats the crap out of her until she's dead. =P

When we arrived back there weren't any tainted in that respawn so we cleared two more rounds and got one to spawn, then a corrupted who decided it would be fun to fight a second time by casting CH on himself at about 5%. We took him out anyways and finished off the whole ordeal for two druids in about 2 hours.

Just proving that you don't even need a well balanced group to get the seahorse. It's not really a hard camp, but it is kind of intimidating when you first look at it. One unsolid group of foolhardy adventurers can do it.

BTW

Don't bother flaming me for not posting this in the seahorse area, I was responding to that earlier post which said this was hard all around.

kthxbi

# Jan 26 2005 at 2:47 PM Rating: Decent
Although posted under the wrong mob posts, I wanna thank you for this one, as it is more informative than any of the posts I've seen under the Seahorse. :)

Now, to make all these long, boring stories, of every spell cast and what not, short. You can MQ just about all items that require more than 1 turn-in to get something back.

Another confirmations is, yes, the more seafury cyclops you kill, the bigger the chance of the tainted popping (Thought this was logic?). Popping of the Tainted is 100% random and COULD happen after EVERY Seafury cyclops you kill...but it wont :P

And at this point, being after PoP/GoD/OoW came out, I hope noone is gonna have any trouble killing this guy.

And last, mobs summon once they hit 95% health. (IF of course they summon..duh.)

Hope this helps!

As soon as we got to the island, tainted popped infront of us, easy camp I say! :) Took a good time since Quag agro'd us, so had to take him out while the corrupted kept summoning me and i kept running until Quag dropped. Although you can solo this bad boy, you can usually find a pick up group on the island that is just as annoyed as you are that he is there.

The best strategy is to have some forethought before taking him on. If the tainted is up, someone is bound to start killing him and then they are surprised with the corrupted spawns on top of the tainted's corpse. Do yourself and others a favor by announcing from time to time that the tainted is up and killing it will spawn the corrupted.

Take down the tained and then have your group go after the corrupted. If you have someone who can snare, that is preferrable to root as root will get you immediately summoned and spanked hard. The corrupted also has a pretty decent set of resist numbers, so get a Tash or other debuff on him as quicly as possible. A slow spell is a blessing if it sticks, as you can usually outrun his hit before he gets it on you if you are summoned.

Pets are good here as well as they can melee while you keep heals and DD's spells going.

One bit of advice: it is best to pull the corrupted to the shore of the island. I have been in too many groups where the corrupted is melee'd too far from the shore and the number of adds can get overwhelming if the island pops with new spawns.
