an escaped froglok

These can be quite rare and hard to find, but this elusive froglok has a trick. They need a froglok escort, which spawn most often between 8pm and 8am. The escorts will move from spawn point to spawn point which have the possibility of spawning a few mobs which are agro to them: a large mosquito, a skeleton, and a marsh leech.

There are a few placeholders which an escaped froglok can spawn from. You can tell which ones these are by how fast the placeholder moves, much faster than normal mobs. If there is an escort around, these placeholders have a chance to spawn an escaped froglok. It is not known if more escorts means a greater chance to spawn an escaped froglok.

shackles for granite pebbles
# Aug 05 2001 at 9:40 PM Rating: Default
It has been told that I am to fill my training bag full of granite pebbles which are gained from the shackle quest, how exaclty am I supposed to turn in a bag full of granite pebbles when the bag does not open? Am I supposed to turn in the bag and three slots with pebbles or how does it work..Any help would be astounding

If you read his message when you get the quest and the husk bag, you need to combine the husk bag (that doesn't open) and 3 piles of granite (individually stacked) in your tailoring kit. Then take it back to the original questor and give it to them to complete the quest.
Found a good spot for them!

Just after the first one, *but*, and that is very important, *before* the third one.
Escort... FYI

Just one more note... when I killed the 'Froglok Escort' and found the escapee in the newbie area... I had the escorts fife on me. Maybe the fife is used by the escort to call escapees. Good luck.

Just a note ... something that needs to be tested. Was hunting the escapee for a while.. just hunting everthing and killing him when I did see him.. and that was 5 out of 6 times in the newbie area just outside the buildings. On the last one I was getting desperate and tried something new. Went down the path to the left from Cabilis.. found the 'Froglok Escort' (not the 'a froglok escort'). Killed him and immediately went to the newbie area.. and guess who came running in at that exact moment. Not sure... but worth a try if you are getting frustrated.

I'm out looking for these lawbreakers to avenge their wrong doing and I think I found where they spawn. Its certainly near the newbie area on the east side of the path. They haul butt and avoid all PC's so the best thing to do is to wait just a bit off the water and listen for them and blast all of these D*%$ little frogloks in the name of the iskar.

this thing conned black to me at L2 and was incredibly weak. was fighting another froglok and it came from behind me and i had half health and still killed it. Didnt know what to do with the shackle so destroyed it, five min later found out it was for a quest :)
Escaped Frogloks

These Frogloks are EXTREMELY annoying to hunt, but i've noticed that it seems to help them spawn if you kill skippers and tads. Not sure about normal escorts. However, when the escaped froglok spawns, at the same time "Froglok Escort" (exact name) spawns somewhere nearby and supposedly escorts the escaped froglok to the froggy city. The trick is to either be strong enough to take both of them, or to get the escaped froglok before its escort arrives. If you see Froglok Escort then hunt like mad for the escaped slave!!! hope that helps :) breon of the nameless

Could have sworn I hunted blue escaped frogloks while a 7th level monk. Sure these guys aren't closer to 5th or 6th?

(NOTE: I still get experience from them at 10, although they're green now.)

OK, escaped frogloks are an uncommon spawn that actually travel a specific path. Since I don't have coordinates handy, I'll have to give a rough description of their path:

Right outside the buildings bordering the East Cabilis zone, you'll see a row of columns flanking the road to the first bog. Off to the left (east), in the water, is where the escaped froglok spawns. He swims south-southwest, hopping up onto the land at the SE corner of the newbie area very briefly before hopping back into the water and continuing in the same direction, eventually ending up on the other side of the lake from the newbie zone. He'll head more-or-less due south from that point, before turning around and repeating his route.

Two things to note about escaped froglok hunting, for all you monks--first, like all frogloks, they're just as fast in the water as you are, so, if they bolt, you're going to be going a long way after them, right smack into Froglok Town, where they always head. They always drop only one thing--busted froglok shackles, which get turned in, in pairs, to The Toilmaster in East Cabilis for piles of granite pebbles.

Good hunting.

I've searched hell and high water in the Swamp of No Hope, and I think the name says it all.."No Hope". Is there no hope of finding them? I sure can't. If someone could please give some factual information, it would be greatly appreciated!
(Not that the other post was lacking, just didn't help a whole lot =)

I am in the process of hunting the second Escapee. I found the first one just past the pillar next to the path as it surfaces into the 1st island -- this is congruent with the path that was explained. the best stratagy for hunting(if you know thier path)is to lie in wait. so I suggest you sit by the pillar and wait for it to come along.

The Escaped Frogloks appear to be around level 2 to 4; definitely under level 6.

The ones I've seen have spawned around the grassy part of the newbie area near the city gate (the area where the leeches, Froglok tads, misquitos, etc. are).

From there, they quickly take off into the swamp: first they head for the island just off the coast of the newbie area, then they usually turn right and keep going deeper into the swamp.

I've caught them both in the newbie area, before they take off, and on the island. On the island, I've usually caught them between the road and the coast, or sometimes in the water between the island and the mainland (but usually to the right when coming onto the island from the newbie area).

Haven't had any luck figuring out what, if anything, causes them to spawn. Sometimes I'll hunt in that area for several days in a row without seening any; other times (like today) I'll see three of them in less than an hour or two.

From the text when you kill a Frolok Escort, it seems reasonable that there's a connection between them and the escapees; but I can't figure out if you need to kill the Escorts or leave them alone...
