We tried this again this year with about 20 characters, mostly around level 110.
At about 75%, several Fist of Krasnok spawned and that finished us off.
The mana drain is a real drag; if the fight goes on very long, the healers will go OOM.
Perhaps the idea is to kill him slowly enough that the safe bubbles will be available for each Call of the Mist. At the rate we were going, we were getting a lot more DOTs/drains than safe bubbles, and could not have continued much longer.

Each 5% of his health the call the mist spell goes off. If the safe bubbles (Blue swirls - purple?) are up, running through them will strip the dot. The swirls come up every 2 minutes or so. we tried tossing healers up on the platforms at the side of the room, but they still got hit up there - just need to have everyone paying attention on bubbles, and move to them when the dot hits. He does emote something about 'let them rise up' or some such either before the bubbles, or before the dot.

Max hit I saw from Captain was 61k.
During the fight I saw some purple swirls appear on the floor. I assume these are either the "mist" or the "furies". You are probably better off staying away from them, but I'm not sure that this actually avoids their effect. We also read something about safe spots or bubbles to protect from the zone effects. If these exist, I never saw them.
The swirls were probably responsible for this:

But I could not target them to confirm the name.
We didn't get Krasnok's health down too much, so he may have more tricks than what I saw.
Misc:
During the "mini" fights in the rest of the zone, you'll see this message occasionally:
Tendrils of magic shoot to Krasnok, infusing him with power.
I don't know if there is any significance to it. Infusing Krasnok, or the mini you are fighting at the time? Don't know. No obvious spell associated with the message.
