Master Yael is found at the very bottom of "The Hole", the large pit which runs through the zone The Hole.

Master Yael has the inate ability to Death Touch, which will recycle every 30 seconds during a fight with him. For this reason, its recommended to have more than 6 people there to talk to him.

He does not typically use his deathtouch on people who aren't fighting him, though there has been the odd report of people getting hit with it while near the enterance.

Yep. After the revamp, whole zone is changed. Nearly all the elementals are dead, and so is Yael. Some new erudite named The Protector of the Ruins tells the story of how he created an army of magical constructs and laid waste to Yael's forces, then after Yael killed what used to be Nortlav the Scalekeeper, the Protector went into a rage and created the ultimate construct, named Guardian of the Seal, and set it loose on Master Yael, who fell quite easily. Now Guardian of the Seal and his two gargoyle buddies will kill anyone who touches the door to Underfoot, but are initially non-agro and con indifferent.

Ugh! This guy requires a kamakazi squad! When we came to the actual Hole itself where he guards the door, he looks like a toiler or a small earth elemental. We tried to pull the wandering mob in the area and every time the puller was popped with Death Touch! Once one was down we were able to grab the local mob but another popped in it's place. I know for a fact the local mob wasn't Yeal because I was on of the pullers. If you go for this mob, go straight for him and loose the toon, I suggest some low level toons for the kamakazi runs, have one person to count to 20 and spam to back off and let the next low level take one for the team, then beat and retry.

BTW some folks have posted DT like it was harm touch or something - hahaha DT is Death Touch! It doesn't matter how many hit points you have! I had nearly 5000 and when I sot an arrow at the wandering mob I was way out of casting range to Yael and blam I was down as soon the arrow hit marked on my screen.

Have any mages tried the AA Ele charm on him ? Was just wondering if it would work on him or not - Running thru the hole having him DT everything could make for a bit of fun - althoughbt the xp would probably suck at that lvl - was just curious if it could be done. May have to get the AA and try it myself someday.

SoE made a change to what happens to you when you are zoning. You ever notice that now even if you walk into a zone line backwards you zone in facing away from the zoneline...well this fix while convient in some cases made it impossible to land in the water if you jump (with lev even) from Paineel. Because when you zone...no matter where you zone in from, you will always appear in the center off the room on the way down. And there is no way to move yourself far enough over to get to the water before you hit the ground.

Something i am wondering.... if you have a 2 shammies, 2 magi, 2 BL. I.E. all pet classes. If they turn there pets onto him and don't pull the arrgo to them selves keep it on there pets. Can they take him out??? If he DT he will be doing it to a pet so that person just recasts the pet and send it back in? With 6 pets on him he should not have a chance to get to the players....

it is just a thought and am wondering if it will work??

DTs don't work like HTs. DT will hit the owner of the pet not the pet.

Well, after some trial and error, I can outline a relatively easy way to get a force into close proximity to the epic mobs that spawn deep within the Hole without having to clear through the city (which is a complete pain in the arse). This method does work while Yael is up.

First, you need to powerlevel a brell cleric to level 14. The cleric needs the three spells divine aura, invis to undead, and reanimation, if you want to go totally barebones.

Get the cleric to paineel, bind him right at the pit that drops you into the hole. Have the cleric divine aura and dive in, he'll land in the middle of a bunch of elementals, golems, flighty fiends, and master yael (if he's up). All these mobs should ignore you since you're a brell worshiper. Run up the passage that leads to the castle full of undead and epic mobs. ITU so none of the undead will aggro, run past the entrance to the castle, around the corner, and you'll be on a ledge overlooking master yael's spawn. Park the cleric here, we'll come to him later.

Next, you'll need to have a 55+ mage in your raid party. have everyone in the raid party zone into the hole, no need to fight the entrance mobs, just sit around. Have someone duel the mage to kill him without exp loss. Now, take a level 1 brell worshiping halfling rogue, use sneak/hide and drag the mage's corpse all the way down through the city and to the spot where the level 14 cleric is parked. Have the cleric reanimate the mage, get the mage grouped with the halfling rogue, have the rogue sneak back to the entrance, or even easier make sure he's bound right outside the Hole entrance in Paineel and just have him run up to a mob and ask it for a free port to bind, any way you do it, have him in the entrance to the zone so he can invite people for Call of the Hero. CotH your entire raid party into position, assemble your groups, and presto! You're right near all the epic mobs, you're really close to master yael, and you didn't have to kill a thing. In the event that you don't have a mage that can cast Call of the Hero, it is possible to simply corpse your entire raid party and drag all their corpses through the zone. In this situation, I strongly reccomend that each person at the raid bring their own level 1 halfling rogue, because I had to drag five corpses through the Hole last night and it was not only extremely difficult (ended up making a ton of macro keys to target and summon corpses) but it also took about an hour and twenty minutes.

I helped a warrior in my guild take Yael down earlier today. I made two conclusions.

1) His DPS is likened to that of a large rat.

2) It's easier to rez the people who are DTed then to cast heal spells at all.

My advice would be to cast celestial heal on anyone who has Yael's attention, and use the rest of your mana to heal people after you rez them mid-fight.

Of course this is from a cleric with an epic... so if you don't have it, you may want to just cast celestial heals after they are rezzed. No joke, his DPS is piss poor, a level 30 wizzy can tank him long enough for his DT to kill him, =/.

Can't invis in the hole, all see invis. Dunno where your spot would be thoughm I'm guessin you need a group and kill down a ways.

Or just make a level 1 halfling rogue and park him at Yael like everyone else :).

at lvl60 and 255int you only have 3k mana? with only my own buffs i have 4k mana. do the MB math with that, there are alot of wizzies with more mana than i have. btw i a not going to argue the usefullness of MB or using sunstrike with a lvl55 wizzie. get 60, get sunstrike, then post on this when you have experience with using both. btw manaburn? is VERY low aggro, sunstrike? HIGH aggro

Aye, but the problem with sunstrike is all the damage isn't done at once. The thing about Manaburn is you do all that damage at once. If you can kill something before it can hit you, it's awesome.

If you want to get technical, DoTs will do more damage per mana than anything a wizzie has, but You probably don't want to have your clerics cycling CHs for hours on end waiting for the DoTs to work, either.

Has anyone tried casting Harmshield or Quivering Veil then zoning in at the waterfall - falling down immune to all damage - running to a corner and hitting FD? Then /q'ing and coming back - in a spot with no mobs?

Just curious because an earlier post suggested the fusable ore you need for the Strength of Elements quest item can be found on the floor near Yael i.e. no need to kill him. If that is the case getting in like this, then returning and using HShield to run in and grab some ore then gating out might be a very nice way to get this piece for the quest. Anyone got any idea whether this can be done and if so whether the ore is on the ground or actually on Yael?

Using Hshield would not work because 1) there would be no safe place to camp, and 2) if Yael is up, and your KoS, his DT would eat right through it. DTs bypass all rune or DA type spells.

I managed to get down there with a 25 erudite necro on test. All mobs conned indifferently but Yael wasn't up though, or else I would have been dead I assume. I just used Harmshield and jumped down the big bit in Paineel. All indifferently but when I tried to open some kind of door, I got hit by a black golem(Guardian of the Seal or similiar) for 980 points and died.

I have a brell cleric down there and can wander arround freely. There is no ground spawn. I believe when the quest was first implimented, they were all ground spawns but that was changed. I know, for a while, there was a big stink because the ground spawn for the fusable coral ore was removed from Phinny's room but was not added to his loot table. It's in his loot table now and the fusable earthen ore is in Yael's table. The only way to get it is to kill him.

As far as harm shielding down, FDing and quitting... you could do that but I don't believe there is a safe spot down there to camp yael if you're KoS. I suggest DAing a cleric of brell down there or sneaking a rogue of brell down there. You'll be safe. There is a trick to getting a cleric to the safe ledge overlooking Yael's room without IVU or anything that you don't normally get at level 1 so he dosn't get eaten when Yael pops.

What you do is jump into the hole and click DA while you're falling. Once you're down (and assuming Yael isn't up in wich case you're dead anyways) start running up. Stop just before you leave the tunnel. You'll see one static spawn undead in the next hallway and 2 static spawns guarding the door to Kurn's tower. There is one undead that can wander out of the tower. As long as that wandering undead isn't in sight, look at the far wall. You'll see a rock sticking out of the wall. Sit in the middle of the exit to the tunnel you're in and then run straight at the far right hand edge of the rock on the far wall from you. You should be able to get there without aggro. Then duck and clip through that rock and you'll find yourself on the safe ledge. Works every time if you do it just like that. Make sure you get a bind in Paineel in case you make a mistake. Wouldn't be fun to run all the way there again.

This is better using just a brells rogue, preferably a halfling because they have hide/sneak skill 50 at lvl 1, dwarfs dont on one of them I forget. Anyways with a rogue you can hide and sneak your way down. I have one down there camping Yael so I can get my strength of elements =P

I took a Brell's Dwarf rogue into the hole but he was KOS to all the fiends and elementals.
Is there something I'm missing here that's obvious to everyone else? :) Poor guy got smushed pretty fast! hehe

I figured out what I did. This was my 1st rogue; my other classes couldn't hide and move. Once I realized I could sneak/hide and move, I took the fella straight to the ledge overlookinig Yael.
So Xarbokx, sneak worked fine, it was a case of operator error on my part :)

Yael is indeed level 56 and his class is wizard. He's KoS to all, even Brell worshipers. He spawns on the little mound right in front of the locked door.

I just killed him about a day and a half after patch. His spawn time after patch is most likely random but it's not the full 7 days. His spawn time after death everyone says is 7 days. Guess I'll get to find out if that's exactly 7 or roughly 7.

I don't know exactly how hard he hits for because as long as I had aggro, he just chain cast crappy spells that I resisted until I ate a death touch. Someone mentioned somewhere arround 600 but I can't confirm that. His melee is probably the least of your worries anyways.

Edit: A guildie confirmed. His melee is 630 max. Double or quad, I don't know.

The initial posting of this mob says that his death touch recycles every 30 seconds. When we went to kill him, we had some early aggro and I got 3 DTs logged. There was exactly 49 seconds between each DT so either it recycles every 49 seconds or there was some really good timing there.

We had about 2 groups jump down the waterfall but a few people missed the pool in the bottom and died so we probably killed yael with about a group and a half of 60s and high 50s. Having a chanter there is important for mezzing the adds that you will get. You should get about 3. A flighty fiend, an elemental channeler and an elemental warrior. If you use the waterfall, you must move to your left to fight. Nortlav the Scalekeeper is to the far right and WILL assist. He has a 1500 point lifetap proc and if you're not ready for his aggro, it'll just mess you up. If you move too far left, you'll get a rock golem add too but that is better than getting Nortlav to add.

Hmm I was thinking this might be a quick way to kill Yael (even though it could be considered exploiting). Have 2 groups ready to kill Yael, send all but the CoH able mage into the normal entrance. Have the mage lev himself over the hole.. go to the waterfall area.. and drop. If you drop in the correct spot you could zone in, then /quit out right before you land in the water. Come back, land invis in the water. I have done this before with a rogue btw. Then simply have a wizard follow suit with the mage. Then have the wizard abscond to the entrance, invite people, then have mage CoH them down. I think you could quickly get 2 groups there and begin pulling the few wanderers in the room, them move out to the tunnel entrance and pull yael. Just a thought, I am going to bring this up to my guild sometime.

When you fall in the hole it is not "auto-10k" because I was drunk one time (hehe) and fell in the hole and only took about 700~ damage. I was wearing all of my armor and weighed about 80 stones

If u ever wanted to just not want to fight your way down and try somthing knew i know how to get into yaels room straight from fall. I just did thsi today cause wanted to explore zone for epic to know areas and stuff. All you have to do is drop down into the hole........ but no matter where u jump u always zone in the same exact place so there is no way for you to hit the watter, what you have to do is /q right before you hit ground and log back in and ur safely in the room on the ground. however there are 4 mobs in the room one being yael if he is up. but for a jael raid this is very quick if it works right. Also if you /q right when u zone u will still die because it will keep you wehre u are when u went LD. I dont know if it would work so well but seems pretty quick and easy and its ok if u can take the room.

No, this method would not work. When you /q out, your character still remains in game, just like when you go LD. In fact, the computer takes control of your character. If mobs attack you, you attack them back, taking normal combat damage from them. If you still have HPs left when the game finally boots you, you would still be alive. However, the 10k damage from the fall would leave you dead, whether you /q'ed out or not.

ok here is what i know abt this guy

he is a lv 55 mage he cangravity flux and death touch for 20k. this DT recycles every 30 seconds so eb prepared toget the sht blown out of ya. there r 2 ways toget to him the long way and the short way. logn way- get key to hole and run to him. short way- jump in the hoel and pray to your god u land on teh water. risks in both ways. long way- alot of very nasty mobs. short way- falling for 10k. he liek a god (he DTs and gravity flux) and will take a raid of at;least 30 ppl to taek him. if u die on the way to him or at him fastes and cheapest way (175pp a coffin x30 isnt cheap) to alreayd have brell worshipping halfling rogues who cna hide/sneak form teh strt bind them at top and cast spirit od scale on them. have 1 to bring corpses fomr yeal to drop off legde and other from ledge to awaiting cleric. when SoS goes have them kill themselves and get a new one (doesnt matter if they die and fastest way and i think the keys r soulbound) and go abck down.

as far as fighting him show him teh respect he deserves (ie cheap blow him fomr behind with a chair and bust his nutz open) since he is classified as a god and you should be fine.

Soooooo I was exploring. Was going to Stone Burnt to check it out today. I enter Painell. I had lev on cause I had heard there was some pit I had to be safe around. I just started going forward after zoning. And BAM i start floating over a giant pit. I was like, cool I wonder what's at the bottum on this. I was like, holy..... I hope I land somewhere I can find my way out of. Then I start falling and I'm like "Where did lev go?" And then BAM 10,000 damage I've heard about.

So I can't get anywhere near my corpse. Impossible. There weren't any GMs on at the time. I hope there will be tommorrow and they will be kind ones. If I don't get my body back I'm defintely quiting EQ.

The morale of the story is: When exploring, always watch your feet.

Let me save you some time...

The GMs won't summon your corpse out. That's an intended feature. You'll need to find a Necro to summon your corpse out from the real entrance to the Hole. =/

Yes they will. They just won't rez you like they normally would if you fell for 10k. Zone into the hole through the main entrance sometime, you'll see stacks of corpses lying on the ledge where you hop out of the water; that's where GMs summon corpses to if you /petition about falling into the hole.

Maybe it depends on the GM, but a friend of mine fell into the Hole and petitioned, and the GM said that he could not help him get his corpse at all.

I created a level one cleric and jumped in, soon as I zoned in I cast divine aura and landed without a point of damage. That didn't really help me get his body out, but while I was down there, there was a raid going on. I asked for a rez, but it was too late for him. But someone recommended making a rogue that worships Brell, which I did, and there were very few mobs in the hole that I was KOS to so I was able to avoid them and drag his body out. You could also zone in with a high level necro and have him summon your corpse, but that can get expensive.

Trying to figure out what the deal with his spawn time is. I have heard he is a week.. so i assume that after you kill him he isnt up for a week ..but does he pop with server reboot.. becasue if he didnt pop with server reboot and took a week to spawn he would almost never be up.

Master Yael has a drop not listed above, it's a no drop item named Fusible earthen ore. Here's what it's for:

Indeed there is a background story on the fusible ores in the Journal of Al'Kabor it can however be a bit difficult to see their uses from that alone. The ores are part of a quest for an item called Strength of the Elements, which I didn't find listed at the Allakhazam site, therefore I will give a short recap of the quest here.

Go to WW and find a roaming npc named Makil Raron, I believe he is mentioned in the Journal as one of Al'Kabors assistents. Hail him and answer all the prompts and he will give you a container in which to combine all the different ores. There are 4 different ores, fusible coral ore (drops of Phinny in Kedge), fusible earthen ore (drops of Master Yael in The Hole), fusible velium ore (drops of Guardian Kozzalym in WW) and fusible igneous ore which is a ground spawn in Skyfire at loc pos900, neg1500. The igneous ore looks like red lumps of glowing matter. All ores collected, combine them in the container and hand in the end result.

Quest reward is a shoulder piece called Strength of the Elements, AC15, STR15, SV COLD 15, SV FIRE 15, HP100, ALL/ALL. Amazing shoulder piece, the ores go foremost to melees though and plate classes primarily

His loot seems completely unreasonable considering the difficulty involved in taking him down. You're better off taking the ammount of peeps it takes to get down there and doin kael w/ a chance at a defiance.
