Phido was found in the NW corner of SK by me and he was slain... however, I had purchased the skull moments before! what a stroke of bad luck. Anyways, looks like NW corner is a safe bet.

I'm a 23 ranger, and I was running around trying to find Kroldir Thunderhoof, when *BAM* this guy pops right on top of me. He started casting right away, but didn't last too long. He got one heal spell on himself before he was history. He popped a little north west of the spires. Don't know what spawned him though. If you find Kroldir, please help!

Hey! i discovered that if you kill Brother Drash another part of this spawns (PH or Grisok or Phido).
Also when you start getting fast spawns and you have a tracker to make sure, there will soon be one of the two high shamans.

How often does he spawn? does he have a PH? i have 3 druids from my guild tracking for me all over zone for about 5 hours and nothing on phido it is helpful reading all the posts here though

I was able to find Phido and Grisok in about 4 hrs. Phido spawned in the NW corner and Grisok was near Paw and SE area. To me, the spawns are part of a chain involving: escaped gnoll, bull elephant, and any named gnoll. Find and kill any of the above mobs and another will quickly spawn in the general area. Progress around the zone killing these guys, it roughly followed Bro Qwinn's path, until you reach these areas and find your mob.
Having a tracker is almost a requirement.

charm ran off elephant, and that, a rook, and a darter were on my tail as I was headed to the Lake Rathe zone. All of the sudden I'm taking damage from spells, so I was like WTF??? I scrolled up and saw it was from High Shaman Phido himself. I would have stayed to have a little, ahem, chat, but I figured that the other 3 on my tail would rather have tried to have a Feniniwich, so I made it to the zone.....barely, watch this one, he be very tricky, popping up in places where you do not expect him :)

While hunting SK for this elusive little gnoll For many many hours, The druid that was with me decided to recheck the info on several websites for more info pertaining to his PH so we both sit and I wait while she cehcks on the other PC, anyway Im going throught the motions of FD and ID when Blip up he pops and starts bashin and castin, I couldnt believe our luck :) the one place in SK we chose to sit and get more info was a possible spawn point for Phido :), I instantly set upon him and speedily despatched him.

Started hunting in this zone two weeks ago (druid). Saw Phido on track the first nite (while camping the hermit) and have not seen anything of him since. I've killed Ren' Rex several times and each time Grisox has spawned. Don't know if something has been changed, but most of the comments below don't match with my experience.

If u wanna catch Phido, be sure to have a sow, he is pretty fast, was tracking him down, never could catch up with him w/o sow, happily i had one :)

If Shaman Ren'rex is the palce holder, then he should spawn at about

people have told me all kinds of stuff about what the place holders are, and where they spawn. But I seen Shaman Ren'rex spawn at or very near that location 2x in a row.

In about 45 hours of being in SK, half with a tracker, I've gotten 5 of these. I gave them all to monks as they are no drop.

Ummm, These are not NO DROP, I have a iksar monk an made a human monk mule in Qeynos, collected all the items i needed to get all 5 Headbands, put em in couple backpacks, gave to human mule monk an got Purple Headband, ROTLC is mine, hehe
Although i hate looking like a caster!! And I laugh at every ENC that comes along an blesses me with a Breeze or Clarity, as soon as monk's can cast im sure i'll appreciate it more, but till then, If your a ENC, why cast Breeze / Clarity on someone who has Knuckle Duster's equiped??

Really? You got the Robe of the Lost Circle with your mule monk just because you had the sash and the headband? Hm, funny... I always thought you had to kill Rastar and Targin the rock in Sol B and Lower Guk to get a few no drop items to get this robe... But maybe I'm wrong ;)

ok, i am a monk, and of course we all know ya gotta do the headband quests to do ROTLC. most of its easy, but i have been searching roughly 2 hours each day for a week, a tracker by my side, and this guy just won't spawn. i'm confused, what am i doing wrong? i am working hard don't call me lazy, besides this guy i have killed everything that has to do with the headbands, i just don't know anymore what to do. everytime i find a tracker, he'll stay for like 30 minutes and leave, cuz he is bored, so i gotta pay him, and i am running broke now from paying Trackers.

My group saw and killed Phido last night (07/29/01) in SK. We were just southwest of the skellie ruins (where Grimrot spawns) and Phido pathed right into us. Being 18, 18, and 16, and him conning a bright, shining red, we debated to fight or flee and at last decided to fight.
Between the three of us, and ping-ponging the aggro back and forth, we were able to slay him (and each of us lost 1/2 our health), and the loot was Denab's Skull.

Is that the ZONE shouts i see when im in SK... im looking for this guy, need his Drop for Headband quest in Qeynos..... while i was there i seen 2 different messages, Zone Shouts .. "Wraiths Assist Me" ( or something close to that ) and some other msg, was late i was tired, hehe.

No its not the gnoll shamans that shout this it is a human necro that you need to kill for the qeynos badge of honor qeust(forgot which one it is). I believe he is a triggered spawn and i cannot remember the names of the quest npc that triggers him sorry hope this clears up the question on the shouts.

This guy does NOT drop the red headband but rather drops the head of Dareb which is used to obtain the red headband. Just thought I would clear that one up.

In addition to the Head of Dareb, he, along with his placeholder Shaman Ren'Rex, have also been known to drop the Runed Totem Staff. While hunting Phido, I killed Ren'Rex many many times and got a RTS about two out of five kills.
A Runed Totem staff is an easy pick-up, if you want one, you will always get one from the Splitpaw Refugee in Blackburrow. Kill a few Elite Gnoll Guards and one will pop.

He spawns in the northwest corner of the zone and almost immediately runs south close to the zone wall. His placeholder is shaman Ren'rex who spawns every 25-35 minutes. I killed him after 8 placeholders.

I was in zone with my Paladin looking for Phido (last piece I needed for my monk's headband was on him), and I did the usual /shout Looking for Phido please send tells thing. Well luckily for me 1 minute after I said that a barb shaman shouted Phido pop and gave me the location (1000 clicks away from me :), by the time I got there the 22 shaman was down to a sliver of health so I layed hands on the shaman (hey he saved me a lot of time :) and finished Phido. The location was about 1000 clicks Northwest of the aviak city (nowhere close to Northwest corner of zone), and you could see the aviak towers. I dunno if he popped at the corner and walked down to the city only to run into the shaman or if he really popped on him, but that's where I killed him.

I took the picture of this idiot gnoll. I don't think he's even as high as level 20; I killed him when I was around level 26 and he conned green. He was a trivial kill, and dropped Brother Dareb's Skull.

I've seen him Twice myself in the last three days, Close to the Western Wall. Running North Each time. Easy Kill, I'd guess about 18- 20th level. Conned blue at 21.

Yup close to the west wall, was running south to Lake and he came up on track, followed him from a bout midway to north end of West wall (little ways out from it. Conned just green to a lvl 31, was running sow speed, he used offensive Shaman spells and tried to heal....tried

I have spent almost 4 weeks looking for this stupid shaman i have offered a trade of a forrest loop for brother dureb skull this is the biggest pain, if by chance you see or hear of a skull GRAB IT! im not sure why but sofar it has become the most valuble piece for me a 37 monk for some reason i need to spend all my time looking for this assinine skull but oh well,.. long live the quest hehehehe
