Was camping the fingered skelly for my monk quest and just killing off everything in stable areas. Not really trying to get Jester. Suddenly, while killing a skelly the Jester walked around the corner and towards me with a club in his hand. Wow, what awesome luck. Zone had a couple of newbies in the entrance area, otherwise I was only one in basement. Killed no Thickbones in time I was there. Plain and simple, he is a rare spawn. Don't think there is any one thing that will help him to trigger. Actually I am still sorta torked cause I still need a dang withered 5" finger. Good luck all.

Doing an armor upgrade on my lvl 35 warrior and decided to camp the Undead Jester to trade it off for some decent armor, so I headed off to Kurn's Tower. When I got there a lvl 30 shaman was there, said he'd been camping for over 10 hours and nothing, told him to leave message with guildie if jester spawned, logged on and no message, so I can assume it didn't spawn. Either way, decided to camp it myself. When I was there a lvl 25 monk was there soloing, decided to ask him if he'd seen it before. Apparently it had spawned twice in around three days or so for him, but never with the club. Aside from that, first time it did there were only two people in zone, second time a pitifully small number of people also. Perhaps its spawn time does rely somewhat on various bizarre and unrelated factors. Bah, back to camping this horrid mob for me, good luck to all future campers.

maybe, instead of keeping all the stables clear, you have to leave them full?? i dunno i just wanted to try something new

Is it possible that Verant is playing jokes on us with the jester (certanly would be the right name for a mob to play jokes on us), could it be that there is some other reason that he spawns than the ones we think of?....

That would explain why there is such a good item obtainable on such a low lvl mob....

Just a thought....

At long last, I have passed the Test of Patience (or so I have named this camp) and have been rewarded. The Jester FINALLY popped for me on Thursday 6/22 at approx. 8:30 EST. This was on Erollsi Marr.

The Facts:
1.) He popped at the far end of the hallway, almost in the intersection of the hallway that leads to the Pannelled Rooms. He did not pop in/around the room with the pit.

2.) He popped right before my eyes as I was finishing off a Burynai Excavator. There is no truth to the rumour that he won't pop in an inhabited dungeon. There was also a low-level party camping the enterance level.

3.) When he pops, the gloom was lessened. Either he, or the Club itself, is a MAJOR lightsource.

4.) No total floor-clearing is needed. I cleared only the 2 stable hallways and controlled the Panelled Rooms until I had the spawn I wanted there as well. (See below)

5.) Total camp time was approx. 32 hours. This was the one and only Jester that popped for me during that time.

The Theories:
(1 pop is to few to predict any real patterns. But, 32+ hours camping w/o a pop gives one ample time to ponder these things...)

1.) The actual stable rooms do NOT have to be cleared, only the wanderers. I'm fairly certain this is true. As are most others.

2.) The thickbones represent "rare" pops that are not the Jester. They will ONLY pop in the spots where a Jester, Cook, or Fingered can pop.

3.) There can only be one Thickbone at a time. (Pure speculation on this one. But, I would be interested to hear if anyone has even seen/tracked more than one at any given time. Also, this theory supports point 4...)

4.) Leaving a Thickbone in place of the Cook (middle Panelled Room, right-most spawn when looking in) will help the Jester to pop. (Highly speculative. As I said, I have only one pop to go on, so I would never represent this as a fact. But, this method did, in fact, work for me the very first time I tried it. It's actually not MY method, I unearthed it in an old, forgotten, and highly rated anonymous post from September)

>>>Also it seems to help if you leave a Thick
>>>Boned skel in the cooks spot.

So, with that knowledge and the Club, I am no longer the lurking Elf in the basement of that dusty hell. Remember - Patience is your greatest weapon. This is surely the Test of Patience.

In my 30+ hours campin him (no club yet) i have seen 2 TB a few times, one in cook spot and on wanderer but it was always like that, if there was a TB in another spot it was always just the one.

I agree with all the information Scholar Mcoolidge has posted except for leaving the thick boned in the cooks spot. I can neither confirm nor deny the truth of that statement, but everything else in that post is rock solid.

I would think this will be difficult without at least one melee class, at this level. The skeletons will pose little threat to you. The Burynai, on the other hand, are to be feared.

Any Burynai can, in my experience, be a Warrior, a Shadowknight, a Shaman, or a Necromancer. The Warriors are fairly strightforward.

The Shadowknights will open each combat with a Harmtouch, as most Shadowknights will. At level 26, this tended to hit me for 120-160 points of damage.

The Shaman will SoW themselves right after they pop (see important note, below). They will also attemp to DoT you while casting un-interuptable heals on themselves (or any other Burynai you happen to be fighting in their area). You will need to be able to dish out enough damage to kill them in spite of their heals.

The Necromancers, on the other hand, will attempt to DoT you with Heat Blood almost every time, and I believe they also try to land a Poison DoT of some sort as well. At 26, I resisted the vast majority of thir spells. At 20, you may not be as fortunate.

Keep in mind that at level 20 you will still be aggro-ed by many of the Burynai. So expect to have multiples on you whenever there's a pop.

Another important note. Be thankful you have a Druid with you. The cowardly Burynai will always run from combat when they reach 1/3 to 1/4 health. Snare is an absolute necessity. Root COULD be used as a last resort to stop runners, but you will lose the advantage of killing the runner without taking any further damage. As with most dungeons, even one escaped runner in here can prove deadly. I had one Sapper resist consecutive Snares and take off. It eventually stirred up most of the first basement level against me. I had to Zone, with under a bubble of health, and probably 15 green and angry Burynai right behind me.

Ah well, you will have to find your own wisdom, of course. If you decide to attempt the camp, and have the strength to survive long enough, this knowledge will come to you, in turn.

Ok, here's a thought, and a question for all the veteran jester-campers out there. (I feel like a veteran, with over 30 hours myself, but I've NEVER even SEEN him).

Is it possible that he doesn't spawn during certain r/l hours, Like say the 8-9 pm to 1-2 am Eastern time that I usually camp him? This is seriously getting ridiculous. I don't see ANYONE else whose luck is as bad as mine, so I'm begginning to question my tactics.

MY hereforeto unsuccessful tactics are:
1.) keep all stable hallways clear
2.) keep the room with the pit clear
3.) kill both 20 minute PHs in the hall outside the room with the pit.
4.) keep the panelled rooms as clear as possible, and ALWAYS kill any Rares (Thick, Fingered, and Cook) that pop over in the hallway near the panelled rooms.
5.) camp from 8-9 pm to 1-2 am, r/l eastern US time (the only time I CAN do it...)
6.) pop in in the morning (before work, 7am r/l eastern US time) to see if by some miracle he's up.

So - I would love some comments from the SUCCESSFUL jester-campers out there (not even getting him with the club - i mean JUST getting him to pop, period!). What are your tactics? What r/l times did you see him pop? What do YOU believe are the placeholders, if any? And any other info at all!

Well, at least I have made a good bunch of friends with the local Iksar populace. Last night alone I gave away items that completed quests for 3 different people. As well as hoards of copper and silver. If the Jester-pop was karma-based, I'd be in good shape...

A big hello to all my Friends on EMarr!!!

Ok this is a post to all you whiners for the forager, I was camping the jester and someone told me that i had to keep the L hallway clear witch is the 2 stable hallways. After about running around for like oh an hour or so clearing the stable rooms i was running down the hallway and the forager was coming my way, i heard this was i ph for the jester so i killed him. Forgot what he dropped but after that like another hour a fingred poped heard he was a ph and killed him. Guess what happened the next hour? A thick bone poped but after i killed that i was to beaten up from the hts and groups of skellys i had to leave. But i beleive if i were to keep doing this the jester would have enventualy poped

The latest update: 30+ hours, not even a pop. See my "Desparate call for Advice" above...

-Arynduil

Well, total camptime going on 15 hours, still not even a pop. I would assume he was broken, but i spoke with a camper last night who had seen him 2 times in the last 36 or so hours. No club either time though. The hunt continues...

...and not even a spawn. That's ok, though. I will not leave Kurns without it. My suggestion (and what I'm gonna do) is camp your char in the stables, and start playing your alts a bit. We'll see how it goes, I suppose.

Truly, my interst with the club is for the Haste portion of the proc. If it really does proc at 13, it SHOULD proc A LOT at higher levels/higher DEX. My assumption here is that the Haste will speed up my mainhand, while I wield this in the offhand.

HOW DO YOU MAKE THE )*(&^(& SPAWN??? Ok, I have slaughtered everything in the stables and kept the hallways clear. No Jester. I have killed the cook and the thick boned skellies. No Jester. I have cussed my brains out and killed nothing at all. No Jester. I walked in one time after going out to sell all of my stuff after being 169/93 weight. JESTER W/O A CLUB!!! Someone please friggin tell me what the PH is or what the timer is or how to make him spawn. Anything, i am desperate.

well, ive gotten this club 4 times (count em!) on the tunare server, i dont -think- theres a trick to makeing him spawn, as ive gotten the club a different way each time, the first time was in a group with some friends, i was an 18th shaman (w00t!) there was a 20SK and a 16 warrior. all iksar , mind you. anyway, we wooped da fonk out of the jester, whom had the club, and it went to me because, well, they just rock :) anyway, the second time i went in there to get the club it was with a druid friend, 16 hours and he never even spawned. the third time i went in, it was just to go camp bargynn for my mystic scale armor quests, well, i had to go through the jester hole, well looky here! an undead jester just sitting there with the club, he got wooped, club number too! (i traded the first for a jade chokidai prod and two forest loops, yes, i cam out on the low end, but i got 12 wisdom as opposed to 4) well, i ended up loseing this club on a bet, a stupid bet, that my friend could attack tangrin and get off his island and get to the marauder caves before death, the ******* used veeshan drums and levitate, and made it, i lost my club. i went back and someone was already camping it, i decided to wait, this person told me to sit in the hallway and kill the wanderers...oooook... why dont we just NOT camp his room? ok ok? anywho, the camper got tired of camping him, or at least thats what she said, i think she was just tired of me hanging around 8). anywho, she left, and who wanders into the hall, but the undead jester, with (drumroll) a fine steel two hander!, he was promptly spanked, obsenitys were uttered and some FS weapons were destroyed. in my misery IMMEDIATLY after, the undead jester wanders into the hall, this time with the club! mwuhahahahahaha, i got me my 3rd club. the next week or so, i went in with a friend to camp it, staying in the hallway, 12 hours, and hes a no show. we left. i eventually gave that IBC to my warrior and left to get another, this was my longest camp where i got the club, about 20 minutes, i killed a burynai which dropped the soloists icy wand (w00tIeS!) and an undead cook which dropped a sheild and a hollow skull(which if you have any info on, please, for all thats holy, post up) anywho, next spawn was olllllle jesty, with the club, spank spank, no more jesty, and me with the club. so all you people talking about place holders and spawn times are wrong, this guy is completely random, and all it takes is **** *** luck

Well, if he spawned while you were camping the stables, then it seems he will spawn if you are sitting there. All i know is that in about 12 hours of hanging around the stables, no jester. He only spawned when i was not in the basement.

I have killed him twice so far. It may be that there is something to the notion that he won't spawn if you are sitting in the hall outside the stables. All i know is that both times i got him, i wasn't in the basement when he spawned. First time, i was logging in and was attacked by him instantly...he dropped the damn sword that time. Today, i wasn't even camping him. I was killing skels upstairs for bone chips, and when i ran downstairs, i saw him walking down the hall...dropped the club this time. Yippee.

i got one of these today... i was in kurns last night killing the care bear dudes that walked past his room and he never spawned so i camped in his room and came back today.. i was in there about 10 min and got bored so i checked on the cook.. he wasnt up but a fingered skellie was wandering around ( which i dont see often ) anyways i killed him and walked back to the jester room and the jester was walking out of his room!.. im not sure if the wandering finger skellie is a PH but i know i got me a club =) good luck guys

forager and jester.

made about 3 lvls in the basement now.

killed masses of fingered, thickbones, cooks, 3 jesters, 2 foragers and dont know what else.

foragers had the dusty sealed canopy both, no clue now whatfore. they popped at the jesters room or just around the corner, not sure, but got 2 following each other in short time. no runners in the area, jesters room and any rooms around there whiped clear.

jester dropped fs sword and info scroll each time.
someone told me the club has been moved to karnor.
THATS RIGHT PLEASE ???

have fun and avoid the castergroups :)

Yes, right by the jester spawn is where the forager PoPs

By anychance you know what MoBs are up when Forager PoPd?
These are rarer spawns then the jester, but if you killed 2 back to back might mean you had a certain spawns up in the stables too get him poping twice like that

any thoughts on this would help....
right now I have no idea what the items are for... but Im working on it

I need one more forager, with the right item... then Ill try my quest thoughts!
There is no hint at to what item you get from this quest, but it is prob still unfinished!

#Anonymous, Posted: May 17 2001 at 12:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dont listen to the bonehead below who will sell his expertise of how to get a spawn every 20hours. The UJ will spawn if there are many or only one person in kurns. All you have to do is kill the mob that wanders in front of the room with the big hole in it. He respawns every 20 minutes. Also kill thickbones as you see them as they have decent low level stuff and trigger the fingerboned skellies. I got the UD to spawn 6 times in about 17 hours. Sometimes I killed half the floor, sometimes only a couple mobs in the one room with the hole. It didn't matter if kurns was empty or full of people. I would say the UD spawns about 1 in 9 times for that placeholder (which is 20minutes) so every 3 hours if you keep killing the skelly or furby by the room. The drop rate of the club is 1/3 i heard (i only got 1/6 just bad luck) So 9 hours of camping is the expected length to get club your time may vary.

Just to add a bit of info to your logic... You got the IBC 1 in 6???
Thats it?

Not bad for someone who killed MOBs to randomize the spawns to have UJ spawn,
and because you got 5 jesters WITHOUT IBC you think you got it... you got a spawn of the low lvl jester.

What about the Forager? see him with your spawn pattern?
The Forager is the hard spawn in Kurns, not the jester

Because the Forager spawns up there too.... and there is nothing here about it

Im not selling anything... I just wanna know why nobody has info for the forager?
Does nobody pay attention to this fury critter? its not even on the MOB list!

Well I know in Kurns Tower you can stay there for 3 hours and several MOBs will Repop themselves which would bring a random Spawn (of 3-4) which could bring a spawn pattern that you probably have got and then what? You killed just the jester PH's and got jester to spawn without IBC, (missing one spawn or PH?) then you killed 1 more? maybe to get IBC once?

did you leave after? there are 45min spawns down there! could they be a PH?
