I found this article on Project 1999...
https://wiki.project1999.com/An_Undead_Cyclops

I'm not 100% sold on the coordinates either there or here, but I can say that they may have been on to something regarding the various elephants as placeholders.
It was impossible to not run into this NPC while hunting elephants for my alt's ancestral armor quest (three alts did this actually), usually wandering in by the hermit hut.
But, no sign of it or the other cyclops anywhere in the zone for hours searching with my main.

Sure enough, after the first few elephants went down, the cyclops (the live one) finally showed up on the edge of my view north of the hermit hut and I caught up with him up by the gnolls. On a later attempt, I saw him wandering in from the aviarks, south of the hermit hut, near the coordinates given for the spawn of the undead one above. It stands to reason that the live one is the immediate placeholder for the undead one. In my case, after a little bit (10 min maybe, I wasn't counting) I finally caught the undead one by the aviarks.

So, my suggestions for anyone hunting this NPC:
1) Work in a triangle between aviarks, gnolls, and hermit hut.
2) Kill every elephant you see, and if you run out start dropping lions (definite placeholder for elephants, based on past experience).
3) The live cyclops will spawn first (again, appears to path by the hut), then you should expect to see the undead one (probably at or near the aviarks) a few minutes later.

I ran around for a while killing a few phs.
Eventually he popped at loc: -6998, -2215, 32. He was yellow to me at lvl 28.
I was fully buffed and took him easy. He didnt resist any of my dots.
Dropped the skull, so now im going to make some skull ale to raise my skill. Smiley: grin

Thanks.

I'm not able to update this as it's a basic beast/critter faction and we don't seem to track those. A lot of those were probably invisible prior to the change to show faction number adjustments in game.

I suppose if a beast/critter faction was raisable then it would warrant inclusion amongst the faction tables?

At 39th I just beat the snot out of his two eyes (?) and he went down like a big old teddy bear. :) No spells were used, just good old fashioned slash and dash.

Ok, i can for sure say that "an escaped Splitpaw gnoll" is a ph for "undead cyclops". Not sure if gnolls are ph's for others, but each time i've killed the same spawn (using the ranger-track trick, i've eventually gotten an "undead cyclops" from same spawn lists as gnolls. Never gotten my Quilmane from that spawn list... sigh...

Was screwin around at KFC Chicken, err, Aviaks, and he came wandering by... Lvl 28 Wizard, just self buffs other than sow >> Undead Cyclops. Conned red, nuked the **** outta it, no problem with landing spells other than the occasional root resist. Easy: Leatherskin, shielding, pull with lighting bolt, nuke with Frost Shock, root, Nuke, root, repeat, rinse, dry... dead Undead Cyclops, not overly hard, and ****** xp. I'd say roughly 1200hp from dmg done on nukes, didn't regen overly fast while engaged in combat. See ya around.

Yah i was toying with the gnolls at 3 am w/ my lvl 35 wiz, when this big clown comes out of nowhere. Got him down to half a bubble and he started resisting everything and killed me. Well of course i was bent on revenge so i looted my corpse, mem'd some spells and set off to hunt him down. Found him and he resisted every single spell i cast, i died w/ 60% mana. Enlisted the aid of a bored 33 Druid for a sow and a couple buffs and hunted the clops down again. Managed to get a Bonds of Force to stick on him and with SoW i kited him till i got Instill to take hold and nuked him back into the netherworld. I wanted to make a hat out of his Skull but i couldnt, maybe ill just wear it on a chain around my neck ;]

Suddenly I'm glad my other Druid buddies lost this guy while we were camping gnolls if he resists that bad for strong players. My question is about mental spell resistance. I known certain spells such as mesmerizes, fears, and stuns dont work on some giant kin but what about the druid spell Sunbeam, which I don't know if it could be called a mesmerization or what or if it even works on undead, but could it take and confuse him or would it just slide off.

If you're on the Druzzil Ro server and take this one down, Moel buys the skulls for about 30 plat - far as I know he has no limit to the number he wants - he's usually in SK - just shout him up.
Took 4 of us to take it out

I was hunting the treants as a 31 Mage with a 31 Monk and a 24 necro and a 25 Shaman. We turned around and it was there. It conned yellow to me and we were full mana and full health and went after it. It took all of my mana and a few minutes but we took it out. I looted a long sword of some type and the skull. Nice xp too.

Skull Ale
# Jun 04 2002 at 2:41 AM Rating: Default
The only reason I need one of these skulls is for making Skull Ale (for the character I'm currently playing most), and the recipe says that you get the cyclops skull back on success or failure of the brewing attempt. I don't know if that means you get the skull back as an ale, though. Does anyone know if you only need one skull for as many concoctions of ale that you're planning on making or does it use up the skull each time you make the stuff?

You only need one skull, and then you can make Skull Ale in unlimited quantities.

I'm not sure what his complete path is, but I spotted him circling the Aviak Village while talking to some friends. I'm not sure if he has a fixed path or just wanders aimlessly (like I do).

# Apr 24 2002 at 3:35 PM Rating: Default
It IS just a skelly model enlarged. What a jip. However, perhaps a cyclopses uni-eye was created when a yellow giant angered a necro/chanter and the necro/chanter put a curse to fuse it's eyes together, however, not touching his skeleton! Just a thought.
Not too hard

Had a 32 SK, 29 SK, 34 SK and a 32 Bard working the spires late one night when puller stumbled across this guy. He conned yellow to me (32 SK) but he went down pretty fast - had the skull and a rusty ******* sword - what a rip.
Humm I need to visit SK sometime...

I found this guy last night. I had just dinged 30, scribed all my new spells and wanted to try out the new Instrument of Nife spell.

I found a nice Big red con, buffed myself up and went after him. It was a short fight. My Ghouls Bane proc'd twice for 150 points each, and the IoN spell hit him twice for 230 points each. It took me maybe 15 seconds, maybe.

I was grouped with a Druid, just in case, but she didn't have to do anything, I only lost 1 bubble of health... End of game, thanks for playing, Johhny can we have the next contestant please!

A full group of low to mid 20's took this big ol skellie out without a problem...we were camping a spire as he strolled past so we figured why not?

twas just a good ol fashioned hack and bash.
