Clarification Please

Okay,

We've been working the cycles as best we can for a week now. We can't get much of any the named/PH's to pop, nor can we find them. Has this been nerfed or has this been taken out of the game? If anyone has any information, please do reply. I would love a set of these on my Rogue. Thank you!

Varithyx has NOT been nerfed. I performed it over a 2 night period about 2 month ago.

I got my sleeves 2 days ago =) They replaced my rygorr armguard. I'm 44 right now. Found him meleeing a goblin legate. Luckily, i had a 37 cleric with me to help me out with the legate cause it was a cleric himself. Healed himself 3 times!! Got a few adds but nothing bad. Be sure to get to Varithyx quickly cause he spawns in goblin territory and he's quite weak for a sarnak. BTW it was my first time running the cycle by myself, well with the help of the cleric

The Con

With the new Light Blue Con system put into place, a 25 MOB will con dark blue to a level 37. I know this because I conned a level 25 Player as light blue to my 38 Paladin. The only levels that con light blue are the last level you can get xp for, so in the case of a level 37 character, a 24 will con light blue while 25 thru 36 will con dark blue.
RE: The Con
# Dec 29 2001 at 5:32 PM Rating: Default
I completely disagree. I am a 30 pally and the sarnak conscripts in LoIO con light blue to me and they really arent that low of a lvl, i don think. They also conned light blue at lvl 27-29, so the part of what you were saying of them conning light blue at the end of when they con dark blue I know is wrong.
RE: The Con
# Jan 21 2002 at 2:46 PM Rating: Default
As your level goes up your con range increases. You can kill mobs further below your level and still get exp from them then when you were lower level. Not saying a light blue con will be green to a lower level player, but might be light blue con as well to a lower level player....

Well, after three long months of working the cycle, with a week here and there spent in OT to level up, I was just beginning the cycle, had just killed the mountain giant prospector and the goblin coward, headed up to the NW corner, and there he was, nearly sh-t my pants. Finally, a reward for all the running around. The sleeves are well worth it. Me a lvl. 39 rngr. and this guy dropped REAL fast.

Ok, I camped for the Sleeves today and finally got them. Here is what I found out:

There are 3 spawns in this cycle. The first one is in the SE of the zone. Mobs that popped here:
berserker brute
mangy brute
rabid brute
Boogoog

The next in the cycle spawns in the SW. Mobs:
a goblin coward
Joojooga
a burynai squad leader
a goblin scavenger
a sarnak Rebel
Miner Bordakn

Anf finally the Sarnak spawn. It's in the Northwest of the zone. Mobs:
a sarnak assasin
a sarnak mystic
a sarnak dragoon
Bloodscale
Clazxiss
Slithinis
and Varithyx

I'm sure there are some more mobs on these cycle but these are all that popped when I was camping there.

I went step by step today and sure enough:
I killed the mangy brute, joojooga and got the sarnak mystic.
Will start over again until i get varithyx.

The mystic spawned at the same spot listed for verithyx also 2000/3000
Also killed EbonEyes on the way and got the ebonRazor, nice lil sword 30 and below.

The Spawn info (prob)
# Mar 25 2001 at 8:49 PM Rating: Excellent
Havent worked this out perfectly yet - but this is probably 90% accurate ....

Firstly I will say I havent triggered verithyx to spawn but I have spoken to people who have and I have managed to trigger all the other named sarnaks in the "loop" so this info should be right.

There appears to be two cycles of triggered spawns in FM. Each cycle of mobs ALWAYS has one of the mobs spawned - as soon as you kill the cycle holder the next RANDOMLY chosen mob in cycle spawns. The spawn loc rotates consistently tho.

One involves goblins (SE corner) giants (sw corner) and burynai (NW corner) The instant you kill one spawn the next corner in the cycle pops. There are about 15 named/rare spawns in this cycle along with 3 common spawns. Each corner has a common spawn that may pop as part of the cycle which tends to cause the cycle to freeze as not many people kill unnamed wandering mobs. These common spawns are burynai miner, "a goblin raider" (not "goblin raider") and MG hillock. they spawn in the same locs as the other named spawns so with a little guesswork you can keep the cycle rotating. This cycle goes endlessly and is the perfect druid mission. Check all those named/rare giants, burynai and gobs and they are in this cycle. Drops from this cycle include medicine totem, cenobite belt, ebon razor, dusty BP, dustcryer crystal and many other lesser (50pp) items. Mobs range from 25-40. Some casters but mostly melee types. I have confirmed pretty much every mob - though some of the giants only drop their items occasionaly the rest seem to be 100% drop rate. All items in this cycle are LORE.

There are arguments as to whether a second cycle exists but I am pretty sure of it - I have seen mobs from both cycles at the same time. Verithyx is part of the second cycle. this involves brutes sarnaks and unidentified common mobs.

There are named/rare brutes that spawn in the SE corner and towards the giant fort. These include mangy, diseased, beserk and some others. Interestingly some of them drop intact brutling choppers (confirmed twice - also drop pygmy choppers which are not as useful) which is a very rare Iksar quest item. Killing one of these has instantly spawned a named sarnak at least on three occasions (usually in NW corner area). On other occasions the spawn cycle seems to freeze.

Considering that the other cycle has identified common spawns I suspect that this cycle has them also - thus the cycle isnt really frozen it is just being held by a common place holder that needs to be killed so that the next mob in cycle spawns.

I have read that the cycle may contain a wide range of common mobs that spawn in the SW corner. I can confirm that I have killed a goblin coward to get the cycle moving again - so I believe that there are others also. I also believe that a burynai squad leader may be part of the cycle - but I have seen two spawned at once which may or may not be meaningful.

I believe that the cycle is probably like this:

1. Kill named/rare brute in SE corner
2. Common/Uncommon spawn in SW corner
3. Rare Sarnak spawns in NW corner

2 and 3 may be an either or ( that is kill brute and either 2 or 3 happens) or it might be sequential as shown above. I am undecided as to where Joojooga (big brute) fits in the cycle - he may be part of step 1 or step 2 but I am sure he is part of the cycle. Sarnak seer, assassin, rebel etc ARE part of the cycle.

THUS:

If you are wanting the Sleeves or other rare sarnak gear:

1. Kill any rare brutes in the SE corner
2. Check for named and rare Sarnaks in the NW
3. If you cant find either rare sarnaks or brutes start slaughtering every mob you can find in the SW corner and along the south wall
4. BYO Tracker :)

Wish I could offer more info on step 3 - it may not even be the correct loc (though gob coward spawned here). If someone wants to do the EQ world a favour get your guild to start killing mobs here and have a tracker look for the sarnaks/brutes and post which mobs kept the cycle moving. This is the only hard part. Anyone else with knowledge should post it also as the sleeves are no drop and you cant farm them ...

Thanks to all the other posters who I have collected most of this info from.

PS. All those iksars who want the brutling choppers can repay me by not PKing me :)

2 Cycle

Yes, I can vouch for -most- of this being correct. From my own experiences, there are 2 loops.

The first is goblin/giant/burynai in SE/SW/NW corners, respectively.

The second, which includes this named, is brute/misc/sarnak, again in SE/SW/NW corners. To supplement what's been provided here, the placeholders in the SW corner are difficult to find, because they can be any type. For example, "a goblin coward", "Miner Bordakn", and some sarnak with a robe (forgot the name), have all spawned here for me. Tough part about this loop is that Claxziss seems to spawn frequently and he's a tough mother. So, yes, there is a SW corner spawn in this loop.

Spawn location

This critter spawns south of temple of droga, northeast of BW zone. He has to be made spawn by killing the other named critters. They spawn in cycles. Little info for you guys. Oh! and he spawns in middle of some high mountains, the warlord spawns there too!

Can you explain the spawns a bit better

What is the Loc of the " Critters " that make it spawn?

What is the offical name of these crtiters?

What is spawn time for all of these things.. (critters and Varithyx)

Ok, anyone have any idea where exactly in the zone this guy usually spawns at? From what i heard he has a PH, and if thats the case where abouts does the PH (which could be any mob in the zone) spawn at? I just want a general location of where i can look in the zone that will maybe get me a chance someday of running into him. Thx.
Con and Levels
# Aug 12 2000 at 8:41 PM Rating: Good
Just to clarify since these threads are viewed a long time and misinformation is bad:

The con color indicates the level of the MOB... The level of the MOB determines how much exp you get... ONLY the level of the MOB determines exp... A lvl 37 HG yields same exp as a lvl 37 Griffin even though the HG is a lot tougher... This has been proven using ShowEQ and is not in question...

At lvl 37, anything lower then lvl 27 or so WILL be green. It will NOT be blue... A high green (a lvl 27) will give exp, but anything below 27 will no longer give exp...

This is true within a given zone, but some zones give more exp than others. A couple good examples are The Overthere and Kedge Keep, both of which give more exp for a mob of a given level than you might get in, say, Oasis. This leads to some confusion, where people think, "WOW the Rhinos in Overthere give great exp!" The truth is that EVERYTHING in Overthere gives great exp for its level. That's a zone bonus, not a mob bonus.

And "wow mob X gives great experience" doesn't necessarily mean it gives anything different from you expect for the level. It means "killing mob X at level Y is a great way to get good exp". Probably it's not a tough mob, and you can pull them quickly, and they are fairly high blue.

Aye....Abashi (former PR dude for Verant, now a Producer) confirmed the zone/xp rate himself in the official forums. He also mentioned that dungeons tend to give more xp than outdoor zones. I'd post a link to the writeup, but I really don't feel like going through 4 months of posts to find it. =)

Level and Cons
# Jun 23 2000 at 6:52 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, at level 37, everything down to about 14 or 15 levels below you cons blue - the con has *nothing* to do with the amount of xp you get for killing the creature - that's why con's seem erroneous sometimes - they just mean the base level of the critter - doesn't take into account the augmentations like that giants have Str and HP, necros cast spells, named critters have more hp, mana and hit harder, etc

I fought him with a full group at lvl 29, he was blue to me and went down fast. The sleeves look very nice, a light green with black and yellow bars.
Not lvl 25
# Jun 19 2000 at 8:19 AM Rating: Decent
I think you mean lvl 35 because he was blue to me at 37. If 25 mobs are blue to me, why on earth am I fighting HG's?

Seriously I think he's 35. I won the roll to loot the sleeves only to realize that my dwarf can't wear them.
