These guys occaisonally spawn in the Paineel newbie zone. They usually destroy every necro in the area under level 4 they are pretty tough. They drop the Infected Rat Livers which are also used in a Steamfont/AkAnon quest I believe.

They Only Spawn At Night? I Only Play During The Day. Wait. Eq time Doesn't Follow Our Time Does It?

Sounds like a cool necklace. I know this has nothing to do with these rats, but does anybody kow if there is a skeleton band in paineel? I heard there were things like that, and there were also tours of the hole. It sounds like an cool place, and I just wanted to see if it was true, thanks ;)

After serious testing in the Paineel newbie garden:
The Undead Rats only spawn at night if you kill Pack Rats at night. They will not appear during the day. In addition, killing Pack Rats during the day will not cause them to spawn at night - you have to kill the Pack Rats at night to force the spawn. They spawn in a group of 3, they are fast and aggressive, and they are level 4 - not 3 (unless they vary). I fought two that were blue to me at 5 and yellow to a 3rd level Necro friend.
They are mean little bastards that will eat baby newbies (and their pets) for lunch!

One more note that I might not have made clear: You *have* to kill pack rats for them to spawn - if no one is killing pack rats they won't show up.

Oh yeah - they bite for 10 points of damage and it can cause disease...

The undead rats appear when a lot of pack rats are being killed. They are agressive and above all fast. For this reason, I recommend against killing a lot of pack rats unless there are some lvl 3-5 players in the newbie garden.
The same livers also drop from the diseased rats which can occasionally be found in Tox not far from the paineel porch.

Actually the rat livers are for a cleric quest for the first innitiate necklace give +1 wis and +3 mana or something and casts spook the dead.
