Lord Ghiosk  

anyone know the re spawn time on this guy?

Just wanted to say that I Molo'd this guy, 49 bard with merc cleric. long fight it was

You have to kill the "a black reaver" behind the first locked door in the back of the zone. You get the key (a stone key) for that door off the "Captain of the Guard" who is towards the front of the zone (multiple's of them). After killing the insta-spawn "a black reaver" (usually 5-7 of them chain-spawn), then Lord Ghiosk spawns.

I usually just pull the reaver out of the room onto the bridge, and kill them there, that way i have plenty of room to move around. make sure you kill all the golems around you before engaging the reaver's. For some reason, the aggro range on the golems increase when Lord Ghiosk spawns, and they all come running. Fire spells are 100% effective; everything else is a waste of mana.

Easly solo'd as a 65 necro.


Edit: I have killed Lord Ghiosk about 6 times now, and every time the last "a black reaver" was killed, he spawned. So maybe the description should be changed: "Spawns in place of a black reaver's corpse occasionally."

ran across this guy and was hopin for piece for my 2.0..didn't drop - also resisted everything i threw at him except blood line..couldn't believe lifetaps didn't work, even the procs

We had Ghiosk pop after a reaver dropped; we did okay vs Ghiosk even though we started out blind, but then the tank got summoned and ended up too close to the edge and fell in the water, blind, and it got messy after that. Except for that we would've had no problem with 54 cleric, 54 bard, 53 SK.

Just soloed this guy pretty easy...justed used 2 runes the whole time with lvl66 pet adding dps..took about 8 mins...not bad.

just duo'd him last night w/ my 61 sham and 65 ranger. he had my ranger blinded like. nearly the whole time. i tried cure blindness and no... nothing. o well... i got my books. him happy =)

Dude seems to like to fight in the water LOL. Me 58 Warrior, a 62 Shammie, and a 50 Cleric killed him several time without much trouble but trying to move him around so as to keep him out of the water. But if you have a good swim skill like around 150 or so go ahead fight him in the water on his prefered turf, you'll kill him anyway. Dropped 3 books (dunno what they are for) and a Thornblade everytime. The Reavers Chain we also killed a couple chains worth, sucker like to Blind you alot also summon ya. I'd try to move them out past the gazeebo to the wall and try to corner them by the post(that way they don't knock back as much and when blinded you just have to listen to your wave sounds to tell which direction to hit, just keep up the pressure on him. I killed him while blinded and the Cleric was blinded as well but the Shammie kept up the heal and they did not nuke after I had aggro so they would not pull him off me while I was blinded.

Friend and I were fooling around in zone, killed our way back here and decided to take out the reaver, Ghiosk was just in the way. decided me, a 64 mage would solo ghiosk while him, 65 mage would take on reaver's. pulled with mala, stuck first try, brought far enough out of room, and stuck pet on ghiosk to hold him still while running farther out with reaver. second mage took reaver off my hands so I could go back to my pet and the ghiosk killing action. Pet took him down to 80% to assure aggro, using 61 ward of xegony, and than chain nuked himm to death, not a single resist using fire based nukes. no idea whet he was hitting Gabab for seeing as I was out of range of those messages. Burned my mana on him tho, first keeping pet healed than getting bored and burning him into the ground. moved back to helping mage with reavers. 3 books and leggings dropped, and absolutely nothing from the chain of reavers. anyways, hope this info helps some, oh and that blind these mobs do can be real annoying, at least from a pets perspective running all around like a chicken with its head cut off if you try to position the mob while pet is blinded. try to make sure that stuff wears off.

Oh yeah, loot rotted, we were there for the reavers, not lord, even tho zone was broadcasted that mob was on its back, never heard a single word about anyone coming to get any of it

Took this guy down with a 65 BL with mostly lvl 50 gear or so and 65 Shaman. 65 Shaman used Malos, Bane, and Torpor. BL pet tanked most the time, but BL would get in there occassionally and I would Torpor BL while her pet healed up. Never slowed him. Shaman pet was 58 and BL pet was the lvl 64 spell. BL pet did not have lvl 65 haste spell. No KEI either.

Took him out along with 2 black reavers with me, 65 mage with epic pet, a 58 mage with pet, and a 60-something druid. Other than the fact that he kept summoning me it was easy.

Took him down last night, and being a pally i noticed he is NOT undead...this is stupid.

is ghiosk popped exclusively from reavers or can he pop elsewhere? like inside the castle or on the bridge?

What would be the recommended force to take Ghiosk? One well balanced group or a raid of 2-3 groups. The group I have readily access to is a:
52 Shammy (me)
52 Druid
43 Warrior
51 Warrior
62 Cleric
62 Druid

No enchanter though. Think we would have a chance at getting my books?

Last night i tried to kill this guy with my 56 Necromancer. I charmed a high level undead wraith and siced it on him and then used my undead slow. I got the message this only works on undead. I look at this guy again and he looks undead my slow should work. I try again and same message. After about 30 sec my pet is down to 40% and Lord G is down to 70%. I tell the cleric to heal my pet. well he heals him too 40% and then does not heal again. I see that my pet is down to 10% and the Lord G is only down to 40% i say to them zone. Well they zone and i get summoned 7 times trying to gate and finally i am blinded and died.

The whole point is a 56 Necro with Thrall of bones can solo him if he were actually undead. With him not being one a shammy who can chain cast heals and a necro can easily take this guy down.

BTW i was only summoned after pet was killed even after i doted it with ebolt, splurt, BoD, Corr, and darkness

Killed Ghiosk this morning 3Boxin a 65 Troll Warrior, 55 Shorty Drood, 54 Shorty Cleric. (40 Rogue opened door with 200 Lockpick)

BRs spawned 3 total. He still blinds/summons.

Added up hit points from log and it totaled 25,035. War used Windblade, so adding damage wasn't TOO bad.

Found myself summoned by this guy during a guild raid - reason being I'm a Druid, was OOM, and no one warned me about sitting to med while Ghiosk was present. Instant 500+ dmg, but i managed to survive, only to run into 2 fog golems who finished me off (

G blinds like the Black Reavers do. He summons as well. Tank with 132MR didn't resist at all - least that's what it felt like...

Several people are confused on this thread.... Ghiosk is NOT the shammy epic mob that casts and AOE spell, he is (as far as I know) a full melee mob, and he is spawned by killing reavers. Rak'askiir is the AE mob, that is usually killed with mage fire pets (high resistance to the AE fire spell). check out www.eqshaman.com for a complete walkthrough of the shammy epic quest, also has tactics.

does Lord ghiosk drop the books or does lord rak ashir drop the books for the shaman epic?

1 lvl 49 pet was sufficient to bring it down with heals. Had 2 pets but one got bugged when Ghiosk fell in the water. Left the tanks & rest of raid group to sit behind. Boring, but easy and I got my books...
