Picked mine today with a 175 skill. Picked 7 times got misc. gold, silver, etc. 5 more tries and I got nothing so I figured he was empty. I left for an hour, came back and picked it on the first try.

Pickpocket maxxed, lvl 55 rogue.

1st try some pocket change
2nd try he aggroed. Everything around him was green and did not assist. He went down easy and dropped the oil. Took allot of negative faction hits and went from apprehensive to dubious to all of the clockworks in the area.

Killed him for the Stout, I'm working on BR quest to do my GM sketches.
He didn't have it. So I killed all in room in case they all were placeholders.
Almost 90 mins repop!

Killed the repop and he dropped Stout.

I was aimably when I came in and still aimably after 5 mobs killed.
So no need (factionwise) to pickpocket if you're high enough level to not get adds if you attack.

Ok, just picked my stout off him. It is possible, but a pain. A few suggestions, learned the hard way:
1. Get a SoW before trying this. You can outrun most everything but the extra speed is good if you get lost.
2. Learn the path to the zone. Somehow I took a wrong turn at the only place there is to make a wrong turn, lost all the exp I'd just gotten for the sparkle purse and having Bubar open the box.
3. Don't get lost. A wrong turn can have you end up at the efreeti pit....don't ask me how I found that out.

For the record, my Pick Pocket is only at about 130. Not wonderful, but enough. The other clockworks will join in as you run by, but at lvl 31, when I didn't get lost they only took me down 1 bubble before I hit the zone.

from everything that i have heard it is 100% imposible to steal a no drop item from, i'm not sure if the oil stout it no drop, but if it is, it's a waste of time to try and steal it. Just for everyones info

Rogue can pickpocket and disarm no drop items, just not magic items.

This item is not No Drop. It is pickable. Looks like a flask of water and you can even stack them.

Many times folks will sell them to the vendor near Gabby. Check there before you head over to the CX.

If you do fail to pick the CX you will be attacked by the CX and Gabby.

You can defiantly pickpocket this off the CX, I have just had to do it twice after accidently drinking the first one (yes it DOES look like a water flask).

With a skill of 175, the first time around I got the oil stout on my first attempt, the second time around it took me about 10 attempts. The CX had about 4pp in coins on him, so if you aren't getting any coins, the chances are that some other rogue has been there before you.

This clockwork can be found in the lower level of the Gnome Castle in Sol A, at loc -306, -1136. This is in the same room as Gabbie Magrodel. I thought I would let you rogues know where exactly I found it, as it did take me a while to search it out. There may also be a PH for this guy, as I am sure I checked this room before I found it, and it wasn't there...

BTW Ramblin is right about the pick pocket, I failed miserably, and died when a wanderer clockwork joined in the fight. I was lucky enough to bump into a high lvl guy I vaguely knew who was camping Gabbie, and he kindly gave me the oil stout he had looted whilst clearing the room. Many thanks fo rthat Tryfan :)

This is the guy that drops the Clockwork Oil Stout for the Burning Rapier quest. You can supposedly pickpocket the booze, but I failed repeatedly with a skill of 145 and wound up just having to kill him. Sometimes the gnome merchant nearby has the stuff for sale from folks that have killed him and sold it.
