This guy is no joke for your average group that might be playing in Dalnir. While the rest of the mobs in the zone range from around 24-32 this guy is noticeably higher level and the effects he use can be quite devastating if you are unprepared to deal with him. Luckily he seems to be a pretty rare spawn!
Spawn Time

I am roleplaying an ikky shammy and killing minor named of any racial enemy of the iksar (got tired of just leveling). I was curios i have been camping him for about a week now 4 -5 hrs a day. Anyone know the spawn time on this guy?

Humm what a wild post for one mob. Props to people that post and to people that read. Also why do people in this game always wanna fight and out smart people? Its a easy game that just takes time. Noone that plays this should feel any better than another person, so be nice to everyone.
fuking undercons
# Oct 10 2003 at 6:50 PM Rating: Decent
Grrr....I hate undercons. I'm a 55 Monk, fairly well decked out kit, and this guy kicked the crap out of me. What crap....I'm 13 levels over him, and yet somehow it makes sense that by himself (since I took out his help first), he should be able to kill me. Not that he did...I timed my fd right, and ended up with 7% health, but still, it's stupid.
If there were mobs around that were 12 or 13 levels higher that players could kill solo, then at least it would be somewhat fair. But come on...as a 55 monk, I should be able to kill everything in Dalnir so long as I'm going at them one on one. And I even had Virtue. This is really stupid...
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 14 2003 at 1:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) monks aren't made to solo... simple as that... try duoing with a healing class or a beastlord... they can solo better.

i have a 55 monk, and he is very well equipped, and trust me they are made to solo, if they werent then why do so many people do it? i myself soloed to 55, grouped a couple times obviously, but it was not my main role of choice, i probably soloed 90% of the time... how about playing a monk before you say they arent made to solo, considering their advanced mitigation and avoiding skills combined with their high and swift damage output, + mend , + fd, makes the amply up to the task of soloing..... as well as a number of other roles.

i play a monk. he is very well equipped. i am telling you now that they can solo but not too well. and its not as efficient as grouping. try being a monk who is not very well equipped and you will see what people mean

This guy is too easy to solo for an enchanter of at least lvl 44. With this one if you mezz him first off, drain his mana, debuff him, slow him, then root, break mezz, let him hit you (for pet aggro), then nuke him. Oh, forgot on thing, to break the mezz, use your DoT.

The Kly has considerable more HP than his followers. His max. hit is 103. At the beginning of the fight he tries to debuff you. Among the spells he casts are the following: Thunder Strike, Immobilize, Lightning Shock, Ice Shock, Elnerick's Entombment, Stone Spider Stun and Allure.

His resistances seem to be quite high, he was able to resist my Blasphemous Blade of the Exiled's Sanity Warp proc.

He doesn't enrage but when his HP sinks below 20 % he starts to run away. Coward.

Surely the funniest fight i ever seen. Some reason when he charms you, it like madly raise your max hp. Like 2 and half bulb gone like that off both me and sk when we got charmed. After we both was charmed atleast once and 2 blulbs hp left, we see this is not working so we port out. When we zone out, we had the same amount of hp we had before all the charms and guy did like hardly no dmg, wehn we look back at text. Just had us running crazy, trust me you died laughing watching and then to see nobody was more hurt then when started. I mean not even 300 or 400 dmg done to us both totaled together. And besides a little melee dmg from the charmed sk i had not been touched dmg wise. We go back in to continue camping drops for the visceral dagger, when time to leave came and we wanted revenge. This time we cleared room and didn't just run in to the hoard. This time sk wanted to ht him, so he charged and did. It is like is charm is instant. Soon as he ht and ran back maybe 2 steps, he was running forawrd as my slow landed and then he charged me. Well i was not gonna play charm ping pong this time. I backed the charmed sk bud in previous room around corner and left pets on The Kly to deal with my friend hitting me. This time I was never charmed and sk only once, but the sk was charmed about 30 secs, so he gave me a nice little beating this go around. Not sure if my cancel magic dispelled his charm or it broke at the monement cancel magic landed but he ran back towards the kly. For every proc he did we resisted and few spells really landed. I will say that something not long before The Kly went to flee lowered sk hp a nice little chunk. Could of been the weird effects we saw last battle with charms, but this time when we zoned out the hp lost stayed on him and of course on me since it was the sk who did it. Imo, the kly didn't do alot of dmg himself, that dang sk swinging like crazy with a 40/45 weapon did. Since mezs and charms like alot of spells, that can break before max duration, wear of bst pets real fast. I probably could of soloed him 5 times easier. So for younger ones seems his procs and nukes are gonna be the tuffest part, cause he does fire them suckers off fast and hard to stop them from being cast. For anyone 50+ about only threat is your buddy with you. For in first battle sk meleed my damn dog the most and yes she died when i was mezed then charmed healing the kly and the sk a little lost as what to do, so he left me believe it or not. But, in second battle sk just meleed me and pets tore into the kly, as i had backed both me and sk behind wall out of sight. That way to avoid any recharms, mezs, or nukes that may land and the see if i could cancel that charm. I would say the legend of him looting the Staf of Persuasion is why his charm, allure, a spell above his lv i believe, is kinda of nasty, hard to resist imo, and why he can charm in the first place, since he is a wizard.

If you noticed ANYTHING about this zone... you'll see that all the non-Sarnak mobs are "coerced"...

The Kly has taken over the sacred crypt of Dalnir, and has been studying mind control... any that walk into his lair are subject to become his mind slaves...

That's why this wizard has charm.

if I am not mistaken there are healer mobs near where you fought this guy, that being the case, if you were charmed, and a healer mob was in range the healer mob probably healed you as you are counted as a mob if charmed. this is perhaps why it appeared that you took no dmg

I have had it happen in runny eye. every mob lost agro for me the moment I was charmed. ironicly, it saved my ***** Also that weird implimentation of many mobs getting HP at an insane rate when no longer agroed. Perhapse you were charmed and agro dropped as well. but yes, probably healed.

I needed a Sarnak Headguard for my bro's new cleric. Well, I wasn't gonna buy it, even if I did see it in Bazaar, so went to Dalnir to camp this guy with my 54 beastlord. With 124 MR the Kly couldn't land a thing, my pet is lvl 41 and has good MR, took him down quick, with a 450dd, he only took 201dmg, but he had no chance. Dropped the headguard, my bro's cleric is stoked.

There any way I could solo this guy at 51 with my 51 earth pet, or is he just too evil to even head here?
Wouldn't suggest it

almost got spanked by this guy on my 57 nec, he resisted almost everything I threw at him, except my lifetap (which is practically unresistable, like lures), conned light blue to me, even to my 41 monk friend (who was sitting by FD'd).

The reason he's so hard is that he seemed to be casting both wizard AND enchanter spells, he was nuking hard, and being a pretty typical level 41 style wizard when he charmed me with Allure (49 ench CHARM), after which point, my pet stopped responding to my commands, and had stopped attacking him, so he effectively killed my pet, only it wouldn't let me summon another one (I FD'd, invissed, and tried to summon another pet off a little ways, wouldn't let me as it thought I already had one, only he was just standing there, not responding).

So I camped out and logged back in and summoned a pet, and tried again, only this time, he charmed my hasted pet (btw, my old pet was still standing around in there), which was NOT a pleasant experience. Fortunately I was right by the zone-out, and made my break for it. My monk friend did NOT make it out, he stood from FD and tried to run it out, but got charmed, and stayed charmed for what seemed like entirely too long, after like 10 minutes, he pulled the plug, and logged back in dead.

me being a 35 monk, some other monk, lvl 40 warrior, and a 53 enchanter all went down to help the chanter on his epic, and possible get me and the other monk some cresent, the chanter was at about 3 quarters health and before he could tell us to tell us to not attack this guy, he ice cometed the chanter and send him straight back to his bind point, me and the other monk intelligently FDed but forgot about the other warrior, man the kly had a BBQ on that dude=)

Intelligently Faked Death? Just like a monk. First of all if you were new to the zone you should have been checking with your group before you pulled anything named. Secondly -- you should have helped the warrior with the Mob that you PULLED. You either take him down or all go out together (unless you have a cleric who can camp out and rez -- and you didnt!) ...good luck finding groups after the two let everyone know about your great pulling and your "intelligent Fake Death"

Killed him last night with a lvl 54 monk and 36 bard. He was tough and it was a close call. I had my robes of the whistling fists up and had bard regen and resist me. We killed and got the helm. Was just there showing him 3rd floor, but i said, woot a blue! Hehe the rest was history.

My guild's going to raid Dal in the next couple of weeks, and I am wondering if any enchanters have faced off against this guy. My thoughts are to keep chain stunning this clown with colour Flux, and get the mages to summon air pets. Both of us enchanters wield an incandescent wand which procs a stun effect as well, so I fgure this should throw a wrench into him getting any spells off. Another tactic might be to try mezzing him and recasting Mana Sieve over and over again until his mana is gone.

Pulled this guy tonight by mistake. Landed Bind of Death & Ingnite Blood without problem. My pet did well. However, this guy must have over 5k HP. His bar moved about 1/4 over the course of my DOT's and my pet bashing him. He eventually aggroed me and with that Spider Stun it was over in a matter of seconds..

Hmm sounds almost like a dragon raid, I'd recomend bringing a bard for each group you take down there, besides their group invis song is the best way to get through dalnir as long as everyone understands how it works. Anyhow, nice brain bucket for all classes listed, basically it's a few more AC than an SSB and also adds a couple wis for the cleric or pally if they get it.

Ok, this is without a doubt one of the most stupid posts I've ever had the bad luck to read. If I happen to post something it is with the intent of either aiding folks that are up against the same thing or getting help. You're post show a total lack of any qualities that would make it enjoyable or helpful for someone else to read. Question is then: what is it doing here? My guess is that you don't have a character in this lvlrange and you probably dreamed the entire incident and I so pity you for having to make up stuff like this to better your life. In the future, have the guts to take responsibility for your pathetic posts by using a name at least. Bah, now you even made me waste five more minutes on you by writing this.

Oh, and please don't make any response whatsoever to this because I probably couldn't resist answering you and it would cost me more time and space here which other people would have to scroll past to get to the real help/answers.

Get a mage with at least the 49 air pet. Pet is immune to the kly's ice slash proc but not immune to the kly's stone spider stun.

Basically you have to clear all the surrounding mobs first or the kly will be too tough to kill.

When you break the overseer room I suggest having other people kill the other sarnaks while the mage pet is tanking away on the kly. Proc is not AE as far as I can tell, but it does have a dispel portion like dragon ae so buffing tanks and expecting them to last long wont work. You have to have an air pet or at least 4 level 49+ nukers or everyone will have to zone or die.

Once you break the overseer room with a little time to spare before the kly spawn keep at it, killing as soon as possible any sarnaks that spawn.

Kly has HIGH magic resist but not nearly 100%. I would say that at lvl 54 (last time I killed him) I got resisted on 2 out of 3 roots... got resisted on 3 out of 4 malosi spells, and died due to low hps + ice slash proc in one round... even with 100+ cold resist this guy is just too hard.

This is the equivalent of letting a rogue tank a dragon. It just doesn't work. Get an air pet and a way to heal it, or people will die.

Helm is still very nice at high level due to the magic resist portion, too bad shaman can't use.

Little story for you all. I came exploreing here with my lvl 49 druid. Ive heard he was tough so I thought Id play around with him. Since he dosn't see through invis i though i would see just how tough he was thinking it was safe being a whole step away from zoneing. So i set off a nuke, starfire, does full damage, next thing i know BIZAM! im dead. btw i had over 1300 hps. Its that easy to die! have fun!

Sarnak Headguard
# Aug 14 2000 at 6:10 PM Rating: Good
Confirmed 08/14/00, he was 40th level. Dropped a rune, a fine steel dagger and a Sarnak Headguard. Helm looks like steel when worn, is AC 15, Wis +2, HP +11, Save vs. Magic +10 (see allakhazam for race/class list). He did not use ice comet until he was at quarter health and then killed 6 people in a row. After regrouping, 2 full parties of 34-42 took him down but still lost 3 to the comet even with full buffs, resists and symbols. Hard to get, but awesome helmet (especially for Clerics =) )

Agreed, helm looks very nice. However if you even go after this guy without 100+ coldresist expect to die in rather short amounts of time. Procs ice slash (approx 700 damage cold based). Procs it so frequently the only reasonable way to take out this fella is to have a highlevel melee type clear out all the surrounding sarnaks, then snare this guy and nuke away. Problem is he catches on doorway when following you, so one minute he will be grinding against the door and the next he will be hitting you for large amounts of damage and dispelling your buffs.

Wear vox raid gear if you want to live thru the 700 ice proc. Also high magic resist is optimal as he also has dispel proc in his attack. Stack pointless buffs on first like quickness, inner fire, etc. This guy also likes to cast some pretty decent damage nukes so keep your fire resist up as well.

Two things make this helm very good, the ac 15 part and the 10 save versus magic. 10 save versus magic can save your life against a casting mob. 2wis and 11hps dont really do anything worthwhile. They might as well have just put 20mana and 20hps on it like they did with jasarth scale gauntlets
