Killed him last night
# Feb 22 2001 at 1:23 PM Rating: Default
We killed this guy last night, and wow, is he tough! My group consisted of a 49th mage, 48th druid, 43 and 45th warrior, and a 40th ranger. He resisted everything my mage and druid threw at him, and resisted my Ykesha proc everytime. We ended up chaining the mages pet to kill him, with only 2 casualties in the group. This was very effective, and took 5 pets to do. Azdalin spawned immediatly after, and as soon as we got a cleric to rez we killed him. Guller back was yellow to 49th mage, and both the named wurms were blue to me at 45th.

Hope this helps, good luck, and enjoy, this is a fun quest to do!

hello all
Gullerback is the PH on named wurm like Azdalin, needed fer the wurmslayer quest.
guller is highmagic resistant yes but you can kill him easily in a row with a well fitting group.
dont cast spells on him EXCEPT icebased dd. (for me as a shaman Blizzard blast and Ice Strike came thru fuly at level 49 and 50 lvl guller the 51 resist some fer half damage)
buff and speed up yer tanks make pets and let them TAUNT, druids and shaman melee and cast ice dd (no joke), let the cleric (yes you need one ;-))) heal the tank and yes hummm guess what the tank will do ;-)

and dont try any other spells on guller like slow or snare, its a waste of time and mana.
and if you are lucky and get a snare in, i ask you why, guller fights till you are down or he is down i never saw him running gg

I realize that Gullerback is the placeholder for Azdalin and Entalon is the placeholder for Gylton...the two named wurms that you need to kill for the Wurmslayer quest...but do you have to kill anything to get Entalon to spawn?

We killed gullerback last night he was yellow to me at lvl 50 so i am guess he was 51. It was me ( 50 mage ) a 54 necro a 44 wiz a 49 mage and a 42 druid. All we did was send in two 49 fire pets and a 54 necro skelly and not cast on him when the pets died we made new ones and sent them in. When he got low enough the wiz blasted him with FIRE based spells and killed him off. SO maybe heat and cold work and not magic but I do know that heat works too.

I should step in here, this guy is really tough.. however, he is not unbeatable. And if anyone is comparing him to Vox, then I won't fear Vox when the time comes :) I am a 44 Mage, but was 42 at the time I encountered him. My group was a 51 Shaman, 51 Enchanter, 51 Ranger, 51 Cleric 51 Druid and myself. (how weird.. now that I think about it)he DID hit hard, he DID have a gazillion and one hit points, he DID summon us all in turn (I was so excited I got a screenshot - I had never been summoned.. LOVE seen my name shouted to the zone :) ) but NO ONE died and no one ever got below half life, altho we were all casting at full burn for what seemed an eternally long fight. His magic / fire/ cold resist, Im not sure if anyone mentioned, is nothing out of this world, spells stuck just fine with the shamans Malisement and the chanter debuffer, not sure which. He is doable, you just have to be ready, everyone has to be at full burn and everyone has to know what they can do to cause the most damage in a fight and not "try anything new" . :) He WILL summon you repeatedly.. (i guess thats the point) I got double hit for 137, ran away, got healed, nukenukenukenuke, then promptly got summoned again for another kiss from this monstrously hideaous monkey.

Disease sticks dandy too...but I want to know how the shaman stuck malise line, I have killed this sucker solo as a shaman about 5 times and have never gotten a successful malise line spell on it. Chanter I understand, his is unresistable....

Well if the chanters debuff is unresistable then maybe casting that first and then Malisement?
Just a thought really - and don't compare soloing to group experiences, they are almost always different.

Yes, Gullerback is a PH for Azdalin, a named Wurm.

We killed him this past weekend and got the mantle. Our group was level 51 warrior, 55 shaman, and 47 necro (me). He was red to me, and the shaman was reserving his mana for heals. He mentioned that he was getting resisted a lot too. All of my spells were resisted, including my Drain Spirit spell. Then I got a wild idea to try something.

I cast the necro debuff, Scent of Darkness. It stuck and stayed on the rest of the battle. It lowered his disease, poison, and fire resist. After that, every Scourge and Venom of the Snake I cast on him stuck no problem.

Debuffing him is a must if you want to battle against him with magic.

On a side note, one of the named wurms spawned right after we killed Gullerback.
gullerback is a bad thing now

there used to be no more than 2 of these on my tracking at a time. now theres up to 9 in zone at once. being as theyre super resistant, this maked burning woods an usafe place to hunt if you dont have like 2 healers and 4 tanks in a group.
double spawn

I was with a full group mid to upper 40's we were pulling whatever we saw. Saw Guller and pulled him. We had a druid a ranger and me a Wizzy trying to snare. No go all resisted. Our chanter and shammy tried debuffing while the Pally got the snot beat out of him. No debuffs stuck but the pally did get off a LoH ) About then I tried DD and a conflag hit for full. I proceded to go oom with conflags and all but 2 hit for 600 plus one hit for 500ish the other 430 I think. The chanter landed some DD's and I think the Shammy did some spell damage also. not a easy fight but we all lived. No mantle. After pulling some sarnaks and wurms we saw Guller on track agian and pulled him. We got 2 Gullerbacks. Thats bad. Chanter can't mez em. Thats really bad. We zoned.
Ooops

He is as low as 47. Conned one yellow, and then fought one that was even to me at 47. Druid, 2 rangers, rogue, cleric and enchanter took him down halfway and had to gate, but it was after we had beem fighting giants and were low on mana. VERY highly magic ressitant, no snares stuck at all between us 2 rangers and the druid.
Buffed

He is almost 100% magic resistant after last patch now.
Tattered Mantle
# Jun 16 2000 at 8:45 PM Rating: Decent
The tattered mantle is so common that when Gullerback spawns, people shout "mantle on gullerback, come and get it".

That's how I got mine. :)
Level Incorrect

The Gullerback varies in level from 48-51. He conned Blue at 50 several times. You can tell the 51 cause he will summon you and say something like 'You will not avoid me Charmayne!' that the entire zone can see.

My group was fighting him last night and he conned even to me at 47. Had seen him before at 45 and he conned blue.

Or even higher. We had a runin with him the other day and he conned red to a level 53 cleric.
