Gullerback

Undead
Screenshot

Uploaded July 24th, 2007

This undead ape can sometimes be found wandering near the forest Giant fort. He drops the mantle almost every time.

Be careful pulling him as the variant of him which is level 51 can summon you to him.

Ran through here the other day, and noticed that none of the named was on track. Not even good Ole' Gullerback, who btw was always messing up my giant camp in my younger days.

Then I got to remembering the Fabled mobs were suppose to be back, but doesn't seem to be for GB, spent several hours running around and never did find any named on track, except that skellie guy over in the meteor crater...

What gives? They get rid of the named in this zone after making it a HZ a while back or do they all have PH's now?

I have a faily well equipped 55 paladin on FV that i have kept in BW soloing AA's when I feel like logging him. I keep him there because he does well with the undead and its good aa xp at 55. Ive encountered Gullerback several times and hes never been a real problem to take down with 5k hps in items and self buffs and self heals. Out of about 7 times killing him all ive ever gotten was the tattered mantle and a random item. Heres the interesting part, I recently started a solo career as a Necromancer. Hes decenlty equiped I guess, average item has about 80 mana for a total of a little over 3600 at lvl 54. I thought surely I could take out gullerback considering between my dots and the pets damage he has way more dps than the Paladin. I didnt recall that he was very resistant. I could not dot, slow, fear or life tap him. Im glad I dropped all the plat on pet toys, my little level 41 skeleton tanked him and killed him all by his self. Well done Gibarer I hit 55 on that kill.

I have soloed Gullerback with a lvl 55 paladin. Takes a lot of self heals. I have never successfully landed a spell on him, the closest I ever got was 24 points of a 243 point proc from a Fabled Ghoulbane, and that only happened once.

I have been in the zone with other characters and a hunting party, no spell caster ever got anything to stick. Moral of the story: Don't hunt this mob with a caster. Gullerback may not be magic immune, but he is extremely magic resistant. Melee is the only way to go here.

Was out in BW all afternoon with a tracker. Where he once used to be a common spawn he is now no longer up. Has anyone seen Gullerback recently since the anniversary event?

Finally saw Azdalin twice in a row the next day then Gullerback. Not sure what the non named ph is for this cycle.

I killed him yesterday solo with a L55 Paladin had my enchanter out with me but he resisted all the L51 ench spells I had up . So the Paladan kitted him on a giant drum healing myself at the end of each run. He resist almost every thing I had up . I had to use my lay of hand to save mana healing up one time .I could hit him with expel the dead but it was hitting for a low value. When the monkey died (could have been from old age ) I only had 20 % health left zero manna . It was a spur of the moment attack no planning sure someone could come out a lot better than what I did .He did drop the tattered shoulder item .

When I was a 57 mage I solo'd this guy twice ( same technique both times ).

Sent Dyzil's Deafening Decoy to attack and at same time cast Wrath of the Elements. As soon as I recovered I cast Elemental Maelstrom. Then heal pet, as he will have been knocked down some by then. If I had time before WoE wore off I would also throw a Scars of Sigil ( sometimes resisted, sometimes not, but it is a fast cast and low mana burner.

From that point I just renewed WoE and EM ( the two mage dots ) as they expired and kept pet healed. Occasional Scars if I had time and pet was okay.

Took him out both times and the issue was never in doubt. However, I did quit fighting him unless he jumped me because both times I killed him it took me down to about a bubble and a half of mana and my pet was usually pretty low on hp as well so it made for too long a med. for what I got.

Just my two cents worth but I feel most Mage's rely too much on their DD spells ( and yes, we have some good ones ) and not enough on our DoT's. I use DoT's, Pet, and Scars of Sigil exclusively when fighting ( see the technique used on Gullerback ) and I can take out some very high level mobs that way. I know Scars is not a big hitter but is a VERY fast cast and low mana burner so supplements the DoT's and Pet quite well in most cases.

Thanks, and good hunting all

Just soloed him last night. New to the zone and had no idea this guy would resist snare and root! Fourtunately, I was hunting in wolf form and he was no match for my speed. Dotted him with Breath of Ro, Drifting Death, and Drones of Doom. Then I just ran him around - rinse/repeat. Make sure you are out of range when you start casting, and keep clicking until the spell fires. Even so, he was able to catch up to me a few times, and whacked me pretty good. Was down to 30% health when he finally dropped. Took 5 or 6 full iterations of dots. Only dropped the mantle. Cheapskate...

We're camping those named wurms in the zone for the mage epic, when we spotted this guy... Being a 58 mage and a 58 chanter he conned dk. blue and we figured it would be cake...

Resisted everything we threw at it...

Hits for around 150hp... Ate through our HP buffer shields and then went to town on the pets... Had to run this sucker to the zone out to break aggro and survive...

Nasty... Guess you need a melee group for this sucker...

I had no idea this guy couldn't be snared or rooted just popped into him today. Luckily i was buffed with SoE and had Scoriage up. I just ran out of his range, and pushed the scoriage button until i was in cast range. Then i repeated this 12-13 times until he was down. Had 238 wis with kei. Got the Tattered Mantle :| and almost 1/3 blue bub out of it. But it was fun. Scoriage and soe to run with does the trick with this guy easy.

I was on my 41 Bard today and was grouped in SF, trying to get some shards for his epic. When the group finally breaks up due to not really being high enough I decided to go back to DL and kite a bit.

Well as I ran through BW I see this guy on track and asked if anyone was beating him and they said no. He conned a big red to me but being a bard what does that matter?? Anyways I started kiting with just my flame chant since he resisted the disease one everytime i tried. Doing 48hps a tic I was only doing 1/2 a percent of dmg per tic but eventually did it and got the crappy shoulder thing. Good fun though

I am lvl 54 pally with decent gear (weapon a MDS ->28 dmg/30 del, RBB +w/ Valor of Marr ->56% haste, 1100+ AC ~3k hps, and ~1000 Atk, I see this dude and says to meself, how much can I do to it solo before I have to run (~20% life)? Well, lucky me, didnt pick the one that summons, but tagged it anyway, I did get it to ~60% health and was forced to flee, as expected. A good cleric friend of mine and I revisited him and was able to defeat him many times (takes a bit and many CH's later). The nife buf does proc on it, had 11 procs in one fight where only 2 hit for total 45 dmg, on another about 160 dmg out of 8 procs, so eventually some spells will land if lucky. Leason learned, have a good healer, build agro so healer lives when CH lands, and if by yerself, give it healthy respectful salute and keep yer distance. Other then that, BW will keep yer intrests, only other tough undead is occasional Tatterback and the gtr war bones (those are fun to solo). I use the Instill (before lvl 54 was root) and DW breastplate and about 18 stacks of jaspers (feul's the DW breastplate) and make almost 2 yellows (that was at 53) in xp and enough loot to barely recoup my costs in jaspers. The right gear and zone, ye can do good! Cheers!

Gullerback got pwned tonight...

Im a lvl 40 enchanter of stromm server and I soloed him. I charmed and hasted a wyrm (50% haste) and took him down to two bub.. charm broke so i ran out of aggro range. Charmed a second wyrm and sent it in taking him down to one bub... charm broke yet another time and i ran out of aggro range.. Found a yellow giant charmed it and sent it in for the final kill... got the mantle.. Not bad for a lvl 40 after hearing of groups of mid 40s dying to this guy.

Yes, I believe so. At least back in the day of doing the Wurmslayer quest we generally found that Gullerback was the PH. Conversely, if you are hunting Gullerback (as I did for xp and revenge for a while) you may need to kill Glyton.

My party of 40 to 45 took four of these on. One at a time. hehe! We have a Shaman, Cleric, Warrior, Paladin, Druid and Enchanter. At our level NOTHIG stuck. All our spells including Clerics and Paladins undead spells were resisted. We just had to Melee it down and the casters kept us alive. So, if you are not high enough he will resist all spells. None of us died. So we adapted well.

On Seventh Hammer, I just soloed Guller...

250 wis with KEI (of course had it for this)

Here's how to do it:

1: Bind yourself on the wall near Guller's spawn point (behind the crater)

2: Memorize the following spells: Gate, Egress, SoW, and Calefaction

3: Pull him to the open area near the giant fort where there aren't usually any spawns.

--kk Now, you will NOT land a snare or root here..
Basically, run ahead of him until your calefaction comes back up each time...
--Make sure you do not run too far, or he will stop chasing you! When he sits, he regens HP VERY fast!
--You need to be too far to cast, but close enough that he is coming at you when you try to cast. Keep clicking gem so that as soon as he is in range you start casting. This monkey moves FAST!! The reason you use Calefaction is it is the strongest nuke you can hit him with before he catches up to you (2.5 sec cast time)
--WATCH YOU MANA!! If your mana gets less than his life, gate, egress, zone into DL!
--IF ADD If you get an add, gate, egress, zone into DL
--SOW if you don't time recast of sow right, and you lose it, gate, egress, zone into DL

This kite will take about half an hour. Guller has ALOT of HP's, which is another reason you use Calefaction. The long recast time allows mana to regen some.

Since he is undead, he will not run when he gets low life. Also, he will not slow down! Keep kiting till the bitter end.

Hope this helps 8)

Last night i was soloing i bw with my 50 nec. Some guys (3 of them, all white cons to me, a sk, another necro and a wizzy) call me to come help them "kill a monkey". They give me a loc, just by giant fort. I run to them. When i get there, i receive invite and - as soon as i join the group - i see "inc". Gotta love it. I use /assist and see the target is Gullerback. I had no idea who he was. I see him inc and i try to snare. Resist, aggro on me, I am dead in less than 4 sec - roots dont stick and he hits too often to even ss. By the time i am done "Loading-please wait", the other three guys are all dead.
So i got Allakhazam up, looked at who he was and decide i can do it - just no snare.
I find him, alone, try to root ( which does not work) sick my pet before becoming mjonkey meal, try to dot while pet is fighting (chilling emrace resist, ignite bones lands) by now pet is dead . i figure i can kite a bit (i got Jboots) -but bastard ran waaaaaay faster then me (who said youc an ouotrun him). Soon, I was one more dead necro.

Sounds like you just had a streak of bad luck, bro. I soloed Gullerback at 51 and only had to FD once (Cause I tried to snare/fear first.) He ate my pet up quickly, then stood there, so I stood up and ran. I found that if you run under the forest giant fort with DMF up the drop will give you some space. I only had him resist EB once, so I kept casting it. Finally he was dead, and my SK twink got a new mantle.

51 version was a lot harder for me, I tried chain casting pets, then dotting and FDing to avoid being summoned. I got him down to about 32pct before I surprisingly ran out of bone chips so I casted EB and FD'd. Pet died, and Gullerback started regening health at 5pct per tick. I don't know if this was bugged or what, but if it's normal, the Dot/FD tactic probably won't work. Anyway, that's my story, print it, publish it, and send me the check.

Makes me glad that I didn't try to solo him last night. What is it with Sony: 'Oh, we can't let _Necros_ kill this mob, let's make it unsnareable'?

However, if you're going to pet tank, why not use the 70% slow spell (Shackle of Something-or-other)? Assuming he's classed as undead like the other gorillas, that will make a huge difference to the amount of time your pet will last.

Took him down as a 53 Mage. Used the 53 Air Pet with DS and BOIII and chained two more pets at him. I didn't even bother to debuff his MR and all three Chars I used to finish him off before he killed my 3rd pet stuck for full damage (750, 696 and 772). So I think his fire resistance is quite low in keeping with his undead nature. At any rate, he might have been on the lower end of his level range, but he was a pushover. Three pets, three DS, three BOIII, three chars, about 40% of my mana -- dead monkey. Dropped the mantle only.

Not a problem....

About 2 weeks ago, while soloing in BW, I saw Gullerback on track. I /ooc to anyone in the zone regarding what his current lvl might be because i read about him summoning at a certain lvl. Noone could really give me a straight answer, but there was one shaman who insisted that they had never seen this guy summon. So i thought, "what the hey". I started DoT kiting him with Curtailing Chant, Chant of Flame, and Chant of Frost. As posted here, Curtailing Chant was absolutely useless. The other 2 stuck fine, though. Not wanting a very long kite, i switched in Chant of Poison (new PoP song, thankyou Bard gods) with those other 2. He didnt resist it and was dead in about 2 minutes with Drums of the Beast. Probably wouldn't take too much longer with other drums, so he's not really a problem to any bards out there 46+ who would be considering taking him on. And if you aint lvl 50 yet and dont have Chant of Poison, Chant of Disease works just as well (lvl 42 song i believe). And if you aint 49 yet, get a SOW to twist all three, unless you can twist 4 songs at once, then you pretty much rock and don't need to be messing around in BW :) /jk . Just my take on the situation, stay safe out there.

If you are a Necromancer then this is how you will want to kill Gullerback. First of all I only know of that our fire spells will work on him. He is immune to fear and darkness although I never bought the Luclin DD/Darkness spell to try. Anyways, its simple.. Just cast Ignite Blood on Gullerback and then Feign Death. Should only have to cast Ignite Blood about 4 or 5 times before he's toast. Its not very productive but if you're bored or want a Tattered Mantle then its gravy.

I'd say it is a sure-fire method, but I'd add some other method that works better.

1. Locate Gullerback.
2. Spot the nearest Greater War Bone Skeleton
3. Cast Thrall of Bones on Greater skellie
4. Augment now-pet skeleton
5. Watch the skeleton mow down on Gullerback.

Manaskin and SoW are a MUST when you're employing this method.

I solo'd this guy easy the other day. I was a lvl 52 bard, pretty new to this zone and I saw him up on track. Was blue to me so I figured I'd just kite him with drum. No dice he resisted most of my DoTs fairly consistantly so I just charmed the nearest wurm and had him have a go at old gully. Well long story short Gullerback (and some of his undead gorilla friends that just happen to wander by) ran thru 3 wurms, but in the end he went down. To bad I already had a mantle and there was no one else in zone to give it too =(

This guy is not 100% MR. I am a 56 druid on BB. He conned blue to me but I could not get ensnare or root to stick and since I couldnt slow him down I did not have time to try the epic. I got a full resist on Breath of Karana and then I started nailing him with Scoriae. I got a partial resist with a damage of only 419 once, but the rest of the time I was able to keep nuking for the full 688. I also hit him with Ice and got it to stick as well. The main problem with soloing him is not be able to root or slow him. There are some mobs in SF that cant are immune to spells that try and change their movement. You get that message when you try and root one but not when you try and ensnare it. I guess thats the case for this guy.

Yeah this guy is not 100% MR but very High MR.
Who do caster may bring him down ?
I'm wizard 52 . It is very simple :) Just be sure
to have Sow or Jboots effect on u and memorize quck DD like Draugh of Fire. Run ( I used my staff of temperary flux to measure distance ) and nuke . No slow needed. On low hp he started to partly resist DoF and finnaly I used Lure of Frost. It is good Idea to have a clarity 2 , or 3 on u if u have not too high int.

A lvl 57 sk and I(53 druid)took this guy on. I gave sk SLN,str, chloro and ds and medded to full. Went with the sk to Gullerback and attacked him right where he was standing at. I just kept healing sk and we had no prob. When Gullerback got to and 25% health and I had sk at 90% life he told me to try nuking. I cast starfire 3 times and each time it took with a partial resist. Cast Ice once and that was fully resisted. Hit him twice with droons of doom from es vambs and that stuck. All and all wasn't that hard at all. Although I'm guessing that it was maybe one of his lower lvl versions.

I (a L56 chanter) was partnering with a 49 druid and reaping the great xp this zone provides. Druid called "inc. Gullerback" and said mob was blue to him but he couldn't snare it. NP I thought, I'll root and tash it so he can snare. Root fails <ow ow> pet picks up agro to give me a breather. Tash sticks (of course) <druid madly healing pet by now, NOTHING of his can stick> and root...fails. Slow.....fails. Everything I cast....Fails. I am at least 8 levels higher then this mob (blue to a 49) and, with the help of the druid didn't stand a chance against him. Fully buffed and healed for a bar worth by the druid, the pet got him down to 70% before we called it quits and evacced.

A tank, rogue and healer 45+ could own this guy. A few monks pingponging him could take him eventually and a high level ranger could kite him to death (non-snared - bleh) in around 30 minutes...any others forget it!

A blue resisting a lifetap spell makes me figure he's absolutely resistant to magic-based spells. Or at least to magic-based damage. I didn't get a chance to try shackle or vortex. Still, I would be curious to see whether he would be after Tash, and whether the "unresistable" one in the malo line would stick.

Gullerback seems to be very magic resistant, but Cold and Fire based magic worked. As a Bard at level 49, I found him as an even con. I was able to use the Chant of Frost and Chant of Fire effectively on him, although I gave up on the Curtailing Chant (magic based), since it never stuck. Also, since the Chants reduce their particular resistance by a considerable amount, it's a good idea to never let them drop, thus keeping the resistances lowered for the whole fight.

A few times he "warped" on me and gave me some nice 100+ damage whacks. But eventually, the ape died. He didn't drop any spells, though, just the Mantle.

He respawned rather quickly, but this time he was yellow to me. Since it was such a long drawn out battle the first time, and since his resistances were so high, and since I really didn't even need the first Mantle, I decided that he wasn't worth another go around.

If I thought he was worth a second fight, I'd probably just send a stream of charmed critters after him.

Me ( 52 shaman ) and a 52 warrior friend of mine pulled him last night--it was my impressiosn that *NO* spells would stick on him, so i didnt even try. Somehow my pet got aggro at first and he nearly creamed him into wolfsauce in about 10 secs. The tank then got aggro and I healed the pet. We were both at full health and mana when we started. I must have chain superior heal 10 times and ran oom right as Guller died. Since we were both 52 Im not sure what level he was just that hes not worth the trouble for the XP. He dropped a tattered mantle and a regular 8 slot backpack--boo--it could be atleast like 10 slot 10% WR or something halfway decent. Oh well next timew in a bigger group i may try to DoT him. Have no idea on HP but id guess 4-5 thousand as high level scoriae hornets seem to have 3000-3500 hp and arent too much lower than him. Dont try to solo this one unless you enjoy zoning or CR's.

Dang tough critter! resisted all my Undead stuf and can dbl 135 range-- a LOT! We were as a guild working on to get wurm scales for the Wurmslayer quests, destroying this critter will cause the named wurms to spawn, until he spawns again. But MAN! what a tough and challenging critter! So far the Toughest MOB (SOB) I faught yet (me being lvl 45 and the highest lvl PC of the 2 guild groups there).

I'm a lvl 51 Necro. Gullerback was D. blue to me. He resisted my Dooming Darkness snare 5 times in a row. At that point, I said screw it and started running while my skeleton was still there to keep him busy. Thank god my pet lived long enough to let me gate out.

Ever since I was a wee druid fighting with guildies in BW we have always pulled Gullerback for entertainment. Before Luclin came out we would do the usual of running him in cirlces and one person would E-Bolt him while another would nuke with a fire DD or something. Now that Luclin came out, a necro is the only guy in the game that can snare Ole Guller. Insidious Retrogression (or something) is a diseased based spell that will snare Guller for anywheres from .1 seconds to close to I think 20 seconds or so. If you have a shaman or another necro in the guild, that is enough for everyone to plague, e-bolt, and immolate the poor monkey. he is not resistant to fire, poison, or disease. And in all the times that I have killed him, only things I have seen him drop is the common loot of the tattered mantle, and maybe (rare) a backpack. Never been summoned, and pulled the level 51 a lot especially being level 50-51 and knowing what level he was. Just my little bit of info.

Druid Soloing Gullerback

It's possible to solo Gullerback as a druid, its just time consuming. I'm a level 53 druid and I just finished soloing him.

The key is DD Kiting. I didn't try to snare or root. The way I did it was:

Start off by pulling with a Starfire - you won't get another starfire off because the casting time is too long, so use this to pull.

Run away and then cast Firestrike (yes our level 39 DD spell) which has a 4.6 second casting time. Just as this spell lands Gullerback will almost be ontop of you. Keep on casting till you go OOM then just run away, med up till you can cast another firestrike (with Gullerback still chasing you) then repeat until he drops.

I don't know exactly how long it took me but it was probably over an hour.

This would be a heck of a lot easier for a level 54 druid as you get Scoraie, which not only has higher damage output than Starfire (at 688 damage) but also casts faster than Firestrike, at 4 seconds. With this spell I would imagine Gullerback should pose no problem at all.

If your a 59 druid then starting off with Wildfire would be a good idea.

Any other classes that have a nuke that casts in under 4.6 seconds could do this provided they can run faster than Gullerback. SoW did the trick for me, but I had to recast it as it was going to drop.

Dropping Gully with a Necro
# Nov 19 2001 at 7:01 PM Rating: Excellent
Gully... I hate him. Yeah, he's a pretty nasty critter with his magic resist... But I just think he's ugly. Therefore he must die. He's too ugly to live.

I'm a Necro. And I've tried a variety tactics to bring him down solo, including some of the tactics listed in earlier threads. I've had mixed results.

I found the pet kiting tactic doesn't work too well. Even with pet taunt turned off, he very quickly turns on my lvl 49/53 pet and its hard to get his attention back onto me. I found my pet dies pretty quickly... and that brings about the end of the encounter.

However, I have discovered a beautiful strategy that DOES work reliably. I'll share it with all my fellow necros. I can sum it up with two words:

Charm undead.

Charm undead? Yes, the charm spell that you have stuffed on page 99 of your spell book. It does have a use after all!

Here are the details. I'm lvl 55 right now, so I mem these spells: Paralyzing Earth, FD, Invoke Fear, Ignite Blood, Envenomed Bolt, Plague, Thrall of Bones (replace with next highest charm spell if you are younger), and Augment pet spell. The first three are emergency escape spells in case something bad happens. The rest are the ones you will use in battle.

I make sure I have SoW, DMF, arch shielding, and Steelskin up. Then I go looking for the monkey. When I find him, I look for a nearby Tatterback Gorilla or Greater Warboned Skelly. These critters have some serious HPs... like 6k at least. Plus they can dish out pretty good damage.

I charm the tatterback/skelly. I then augment it. It sounds like a totally insane thing to do... but augmenting your charmed minion turns it into Da Terminator. Now I have a lvl 45ish steroid-pumping undead tank that's pulling at its chain to get a bite out of Gully.

I just order Da Terminator to attack Gully. After they engage, I stack IB, EM, and Plague as fast as I can. His resists for fire/poison/disease are not too bad. Once the dots have been stacked, I stand back and watch the fight!

It's quite a sight seeing a greater war boned tanking Gullerback. :)

I keep applying dots as they wear off. I also monitor the health of Gully and my pet closely. If it looks like the pet is going to die, I prepare to make an exit.

If charm holds and pet survives, Gully should fall after 2-3 minutes. Then I park my pet, loot corpse, run away to a safe spot, and log to wipe aggro. You can use FD to wipe aggro too, although that's fairly unreliable.

If charm fails during battle, I flee until Gully and ex-pet forget about me. Log to wipe aggro, come back, med up, and try again.

If I get adds during battle, I just fear them and laugh as they run away.

I've killed Gully about a dozen times with this method and I have never died. Battles typically last only a couple of minutes. I should also mention that I have not been summmoned yet either, but maybe I've been lucky.

Good luck, fellow corpse huggers.

I am a Level 52 necromancer and I have been trying to kill Gullerback since I first started soloing in Burning Woods at level 51. I tried to snare with darkness and send in the pet while I tried other dots. Nothing worked until I tried the charm undead method.

As soon as I spot old Gullerback, I start following him while I change out my spells. I use the same defensive spells as crazy necro there with the exception of the J-boot/SoW. (When I got to level 51, I trained 100% AA until I got Innate Run Speed 3. It is almost as fast as J-boots and will save your life many more times - because you can use it indoors).

I keep my pet with me while I am stalking Gullerback just for defence. As soon as I find a Greater Warboned Skeleton or a Tatterback Gorilla near Gullerback's path, I drop my pet and charm undead. I have to use Cajole Undead but it works pretty good. I buff my new tank with Augment Death and send him after Gullerback. While they are duking it out, I DoT with Envenomed Bolt and Ignite Blood. They stick almost every time while other spells fail almost every time. That is it. I own Gullerback at level 52! Oh. . . if he does summon, he forgets all about it because he has his hands full with your monster tank. And other mobs do join in the fight and start whacking on the pet, but I just fear them away.

He drops Tattered Mantle every time.

Sounds like an execllent strategy! I think I'll try it (although I'm only 53). A few things I would add is that considering everything, a real SOW instead of jboots would prolly be advisable? Also, I'm curious how hard it is to stick the DOTs. Would a scent of terris/darkness be helpful.

Also, dont forget your other DOTs like chilling embrace, etc that aren't an MR check (I think asystole is a magic check, not sure tho). I frequently swap out DOTs in my memorized spell list durring combat.

Great post tho!

I have killed this guy at least 20 or more times since I was level 44. I am currently 51. He is pretty much totally magic resistant, but fire will stick for full about 95 percent of the time. He has never, ever, EVER summoned me or anyone in my group, including the 51 variant. He has dropped the mantle every single time.

Big time wuss if you have the right strategy.

...but not COMPLETELY immune. Our 54 druid could not stick snare, but who cares, he is undead and won't run. She was able to land scoriae a few times, about half resisted partially/fully, and half hit for full dmg. I'd recomment not casting until he is well under half, you don't want this guy to frenzy on anybody but a tank. I as a sk could occasionally land heart flutter, but nothing else. At least, even when he resists, you get the aggro for the spells so you can taunt him. If you got a cleric and a couple tanks he is a poc, but then thats true of almost anything. : )

To a 49 Ranger, there are blue Gullerbacks (you might see two or three of these up at a time on track), and a red Gullerback (have only seen one of him up at any given time). Don't know if they are all supposed to be "the named mob" or if blue ones are more or less a different creature, like tatterbacks and tottering, but I do know this... they are ALL hard to fight. All are 100 percent magic resistant (if you get something to stick, go off to the side for a moment, pour yourself a glass of champaigne, and enjoy -NOW GET BACK IN THERE), and they fight like there's no tomorrow. Fierce. All drop the Tattered Mantle. And the red is supposedly the placeholder for Azdalin, the named wurm used in the Wurmslayer quest.

There is only 1 Gullerback up at any given time. He is the placeholder for Azdalin. My druid has hunted there from 51-57, and i've never seen more than 1 Gullerback on track ever. Tatterbacks, moldering, and the likes, but only 1 Gullerback.
If you are seeing more than one on track, post a screenshot of it. I want to see what you are seeing.
Also, they arent 100% magic resistant, just have a higher resistance than others. Cannot root or snare (get the message about its movement speed not affected by spells). However, DoT's land, as do any DD spells.

lets put things straight, gullerback is the place holder for azdalin the wurm who drops the dragon scales

it is 100% fire res soi dont bother you cant snare or root it he is slow as hell soas long as you have sow on it is a easy make sure pet has taunt off cause he will kill it easy.

way to do him is druid pull with snare and then fite it to death he is easily pulled of so join in with the kiting the spawn is quick so be prepared for azdalin to pop with in 4 minutes of guller going down if not kill guller again his spawn point is slightly south of the ginats fort

the other wurm is the harder to pop out of the two
