I have seen and killed Rahotep just south of Derv 3. On the NRo Dersert Highway that leads to the Pillar at the egde of the sea. He dropped the Scarab Ring. Pretty nice little Item. I'm wearing it now. It adds +2 to all Resistances. I hear he spawns once an EQ week. I can't remember the date tho it all happened real quik for me. I was a Lev18 Pally at the time showing a Lev14 Ranger around. Sorry, I'm hunting there now If I see and kill him again, I'll be sure to note the date; as for the Dunedigger as well.
I have hunted this zone for countless hours with multiple characters. I have killed Rahotep 5 times and seen probably 5 Sand Giants. I have never seen this guy. I think Verant has removed him or else he is the ultimate in rare spawns.

North Ro is also my favirite place for my lower level characters and I saw and killed Rahotep twice, both times with the Paladin sensing the dead. Now that Armadillo Ive killed 3 times and got 3 skins(no shield) and seen him a 4th. He conned RED so I shouted for info and got no responses that werent related to ME being sand happy. I also enjoy forcing the HG to spawn just to liven things up with my high level, and never gotten either of the rare spawns to pop instead of the SG. I doubt their on the spawn table but maybe on a bored off hour ill give it a shot.
*note* South part of zone is usually filled with snakes, but whatever the case sic your Caster pet on everything in sight and within 20 min the
big boy should start stompin round the southern part of the desert. I dont even want to consider that the SG is a placeholder for the rare spawns.

With 3 characters under 17 this is the only quest ive heard about that i think will do me any really good bonus. I mean 5k would go a long way for me.

Therefore a 10 AC item will raise your actual AC 15. So the AC 15 shield will raise your ac 22-23 AC...Wow...hats exactly what it did...

if what he drops (when he doesn't drop the shield) is an armadillo husk, then what ya use it in is Armadillo Simmer Ale. Never seen the critter, so I can't say for sure.

Yesterday 26MAY01 I was running to a group in LGuk, I was passing the wiz platform and saw a large dark blob off to the side. I turned to look and it was a big armidillo. Naturally I attacked and killed it. It had the shield.
I've NEVER seen this spawn before. I've heard about the shield and that it was majorly rare. Naturally I was quite pleased to get the thing =)
Though i really wonder as to it's value. Cool lookin bone shield graphic, and decent stats, kinda rare, but is it REALLY worth 5kpp? Post if ya know or send me a tell on Innoruuk server.

Me and 2 other lvl 12's killed him easy last night (he does hit pretty hard though).

Was out solo hunting N. Ro last night. Dunedigger spawned out by Dirv 3 at 3:00am (IRL) (right on the dot). Took a little doing with my lvl 14 Pally, but killed him. His drop was a hide and couple of chunks of meat. Looked for him to respawn somewhere in the area - looked until 7:30 am (IRL). Did not see him again. Plan to hunt the area until he drops the shield. Only problem I encountered during the hunt were the Madmen.... by the time I finished off Dunedigger I had attracted a madman. Later during the hunt I had a Madman join in during a battle with a Ghoul. For you lower level (under 12) solo hunters --- be careful.

Dunedigger spawns near the area of Derv Camp 3. I have seen it both times close to the NRo/Oasis zone.

Came across Dunedigger about 2 weeks ago near the NRo/oasis zone, killed it np (L16). Only got the hide. Just ran across it again last night and received the hide again. If anyone finds out what the hide is used for, please post.
ran into him just north of derv camp 3...i was alone and already slightly injured and made the mistake of attacking anyway. hits pretty hard...

Dunedigger attacked us at Derv 3. Easy kill for lvl 14 5 man group. Please post if you know what the hide's for.

Who is Rahotep?
Very rare mummy. Saw him only once in the entire two years I have played EQ. Someone said he spawns once every game year, but like a lot of these teasers, someone said they saw him the day before I did. Go figure.

He does indead spawn north of derv 3. When me an a few friends were camping drev 3 he came at from the north. Ten minutes later he spawned again. I cant say how far away from the camp but when i heard people yelling about him he was too far away to see with my track skill(currently 75). Hope this helps some get that shield. good hunting all:)

killed it after he aggroed my 12 rog halfling from the rear. i was north of, but near the small derv camp in nro. he was easy to kill. and he dropped a scute shield. wo hoo

When I was sitting down meditating near that little pillar thing in North Ro, I heard a thing that sounded like an armidillo. Turned around and saw the thing running towards me. I was only level 11 at the time and it conned yellow, so I thought I might had had a chance. It wasted my pet and then came after me. I was running around in circles and this level 42 druid was sitting there starring at me watching me die(which really ticked me off) and then after I died the druid killed it. Got the shield and ran off. Now that I'm level 14, I think I shall go avenge my death next time I see him ...

Last night, just as I zoned in from Oasis there sat the Dunedigger. I attacked it with my lvl 16 Monk and as odds would have it I went LD in mid melee. I never go LD either. I have been through No Ro so many times and never knew this mob existed until I saw it last night. Doubt I'll ever see it again, rare is an understatement! This spawn is pure luck...

After reading all these posts, am i correct to assume nobody know's where or when he spawns. I've heard from several other places that he spawns just south of Derv 3. But I also heard spawn times of 5 hrs to 2 weeks (real time). Please, if you don't know for sure, don't put the fecking info up. This quest is hard enough as it is :)

You mention a quest in your narrative, is this the one that involves his hide. Me and my guild mates were in one of the towers for a guild meeting when he agro'd on our only guildy below 10. Of course there were like 12 people there and all but one were over 25 so we won. Got the hide, but whats it used for?
