Was killing at the fort and small 2 spawn building doing hunter and after 3-4 trips running between things I ran across him out roaming, although it was close to the fort.

edit: not to make anyone mad but it did drop the monocle so I will save if anyone wants for their epic.

Dropped Monocle on 7th Kill

Got the monocle on Live 4/6/2020. It's tradeable (not on FV).

Found it on my 6th or 7th Patriarch. This one was roaming outside of the giant fort. I used a tracker to kill every giant for ~45 minutes before this one spawned and dropped the monocle.

Took about 8 hours. I just camped the main fort with a 3 box. Went thru 7 Patriarchs. Every single one dropped an opal. I didn't want opals. I was beginning to think they no longer dropped the Monocle.

And also pops at the small fort north of the main fort. This is the tiny one that holds 1 or 2 giants, going towards Burning zone. Wiped the Main Fort, and rand around the area killing any random giants. Killed 2 in little fort and on the 3rd respawn, he popped.

The /loc of the little fort is +1800, +961. A mountain giant patriarch spawned for me here also. I had spent hours just killing in the fort and had killed a mountain giant patriarch atleast 5 times, I finally brought in my ranger to start tracking any giant and found the little fort killed the 2 that were there, next time I was there patriarch was up and finally dropped the monocle, now to get my hands on ball of everliving golem and I'll be done.
Random pop

I confirm the Patriarch can pop in a random spot in the giant fort. Been killing him 5 times still doesnt have my drop and most of the time he was a different spot. So I guess the best thing to do is to clear the fort.

Ran my 48 warrior and 47 beastlord bot out to the fort in Dreadlands. I got lucky, the patriarch was up and dropped the monocle for me. Interestingly enough, the lord was up at the same time as the patriarch. The patriarch was in the center of the lord's tent, right in front of the pillar in the middle, and the lord was farther back and to the right. Killed both at 17:30 Earth Time/6 am Game Time.
Lord or not
# Feb 11 2008 at 7:56 PM Rating: Decent
Well can confirm for sure that if Lord is down they will spawn just got 2 right after one another although didnt get my drop.
WHERE HE SPAWNS
# Dec 28 2007 at 6:43 PM Rating: Decent
In the room with Lord, he spawns in there EVERY TIME, you don't have to clear
the fort, just stand in front of the Lord room and just kill what wanders by
and attacks you. Otherwise, simply keep killing the one that spawns in the Lord
room. (brae, craig and steep). Eventually the patriarch spawns in it's place.
I don't even kill the Lord. Seems when I did kill the Lord, the patriarch never
spawned. I stopped wating my time with anything else.
But have patience, he may not drop the monacle (several times).
Spawn time of fort
# Jul 19 2007 at 11:47 PM Rating: Decent
Camped the giant fort a few times, didn't have a ranger so only killed inside the fort so I knew where the spawns were, camping the for had a respawn time of 16-25 min or so, faster if you have a tracker, if not, grab some munchies and hope foe a lucky spawn with a lucky drop =)

The Epic Mob
# Mar 09 2006 at 7:30 AM Rating: Decent
If you want one of these bad boys to spawn, there's a castle of Hill Giants on the map (It's on the blue ice that looks like it should be a lake on your map). Clear this castle and keep it that way, and clear the giants outside. Bringing a druid or high level ranger is a good idea to Track the mob. It can spawn anywhere in or outside of the castle. This mob drops a Giant Sized Monocle which is used in the Warrior Epic 1.0 -- It took me 3 hours to get 2 Patriarch's to spawn, and only the 2nd one dropped the monocle.

# Nov 17 2005 at 1:51 AM Rating: Decent
I ran into a patriarch in the hut south east of the fort near the wall. I droped him hopeing to get the monocle. No such luck , he droped an opal .... what a rip .. I havnt seen one since then. Those reports dating back to 2003 that say they spawn east of the fort .. or that 9 have been droped, or that they had every warrior in their guild come loot a monocle have me worried. what did EQ do put the patriarch on a timer.. 5 day's>.. did they put up a ph .. do ya have to slaughter all the giants in the fort 20 times to get another patriarch to spawn there??? Oh well good hunting all!
65 warrior couldnt win?

I drop any mob, including the Lord not going below 85% as a 61 war someone has a 65 war that cant solo this? id hate to grp with that war.......
Took it down at level 56, with exception
# Jun 02 2005 at 10:11 PM Rating: Decent
These guys are TOUGH!

I tried beating one of these, not at the fort, but at the hut south of the KC area. Level 56 warrior, had 3850 HP, 1118 AC, and 1129 ATK. No Virtue or any shaman buffs, just attempted to take him raw.

End result? Took Mighty Strike Discipline, Furious Discipline, and lots of Conflagration procs to bring him down, and I'm at 15% health when he started fleeing. Now I have to call in a mercenary monk to fell this guy.
MG Drops and MGP Fight Suggestions
# Feb 12 2005 at 11:54 AM Rating: Good
I am so glad the war is over so I can start hunting in the Dreadlands again! I was camping the Giant Fort with my 49 Warrior waiting for a Mountain Giant Patriarch to spawn so I could get a drop for my epic. The MGs dropped some nice loot. Not much good for wearing, but it sold for some decent pp. The Giant Lord's Tunic and Giant Foreman's Tunics that dropped there sold for 58pp and some change and I only have 81 CHA. The MG Brae's that spawn there are green to me at this level, but I don't see anything wrong with making 58+pp per drop off a green mob while you're waiting for an epic drop. :) Just be sure to bring a couple friends if you plan to tank/fight some patriarchs (a rare spawn, so I am told). They con DB but hit like reds. Bring a 45-50 ranja or druid to track, root, and dot. Clerics might be helpful, but are definitely not necessary; any class that can spot heal should be sufficient as long as the tank can hold aggro. Got my Giant Sized Monocle on the second MPG. They tend to spawn in pairs at the Fort, in my experience. Hope my info helps!

Would a 55 war be able to solo this guy? All the posts about solo's seem to be bards and druids.

Thanks for any info in advance.

Rare?
# May 29 2003 at 12:47 PM Rating: Decent
I don't know how you can call him a rare spawn. Random, yes. rare, No. I hunt in the dreadlands and have personally had him spawn 9 times in the past 3 days. I soloed him the first time at 43 (bard). Chant kited, which took a while but got him. Have soloed him several times since. He hits for about 115 if i miss a note or something and usually stuns and does about 400 dmg before i get selo back up and running again. Out of the nine times i have soloed him I have only gotten 9 opals and one manacle. I personally have not gotten the tree weave. If you had 2 drop on one kill you are either lucky or a liar, lol.
easy... but after 3 kills no monocle
# Jan 31 2003 at 2:16 PM Rating: Decent
me(42 warrior) and my friend (43 druid)killed ginat fort for a while, got 3 to spawn, 2 in fort, 1 wandered behind us and we pulled it, also saw one in a hut but were in no shape to fight, a druid can take these down solo with lvl 39 spells if he wanted to, we killed it Very fast, he snared, and kept aggro, while i ran around slashing at it's ankles, but not taunting, so it never hit me, just chased druid in circles, dots, druid nukes, and my severe ankle dmg dropped it in no time, 2 tree weaves, 2 opals, and no monocle, i'll be back for some more ankle slashing later...
