a mountain giant patriarch  

I solo'd one (he was blue to me at lvl 47). I was at 80% mana and wis 196. I knew it might be a long fight, so I just rooted and dot'd him with Drifting Death (the most mana efficient spell I have at this level)several times. Wasnt too hard, but like I said earlier, he was one of the lower level ones. Once he got to about 15% health I hit him with Calefaction and Firestrike to finish him. Lo and behold, he disappeared. Found him back at his original spawn point. Luckily he drifted away from the other giant so I could simply melee him to finish him off. I was oom when done.

Jeez, these guys are almost impossible solo. I'm a 51 shaman. i had my pet on it as well as 4 EBs and a plague. finally dropped him.

The Patriarch is Much easier than that. I have been soloing between the Glacier Yeti cave and the Giant fort for the past week. At 50 (druid)the Patriarch falls easily with KEI and a few good DoTs. Druid Snare, Root, Drifting Death, Drones of Doom and Immolate will take him out.
You will have to cast the DoTs about 6 times each and reRoot when he breaks but he will fall and you will most likely not take ANY damage. Worst problem would be Adds, but if you stay close to the fort door you should not have to worry about that either. 8)

ok here's the real deal on this guy i went in lastnite with 3 friends 53druid for dots 50+ shammie for her exsquiste slowing and haste and a 50ish cleric for them ow so sweet heals and buffs . anyways the patriarch is on a 1hr timer once you start pulling the fort start the clock he poped every 50minutes to be exact and was an easy kill only had 1 add in three rounds got GSM on third spawn. i hope this will help, and a special thanks to me friends that help last nite being i was the only one getting exp there .

Hey all,

Just wanted to post a little info I picked up concerning the spawn loc of this mob. I've been soloing for about two levels in DL at the Mountain Giant hut at loc approx 0, neg 2000. It's out of thw way with few adds but plenty of surrounding mobs to pull... anyhoo, I cleared the hut of its two inhabitants yesterday and what should pop there next but TWO Patriarchs! Perfect charm opportunity, both dead, but no monocle. Point of story: those of you looking to take down this mob would do well to swing by the huts and not just concentrate on the big fort... these mobs seem to pop all over the zone! Hope this helps!

Walked up to the giant fort in DL and there were 3 patriarchs in there. A 56 war i was grouped with earlier bumped into me up there and we just kinda tore apart the giant fort. He pulled a patriarch without knowing that we couldnt kill them with just the two of us. He had sow and I didnt, when we started running to KC I got aggro and had to run all the way there jumping when i had enough stam, luckily i had lvl 60 cleric buffs from being in Seb and survived with one red bub of health. Came back next day and camped fort a bit with a wiz and a shammy but no spawn happened with 3 rounds of clearing out fort (. oh well, some day when i have time ugh.

So we camp the bugger for five hours and no pops, only good conversation and some plat. Then outta nowhere three pop at EXACTLY the same time in the castle. Our goal is the monacle and a Tree Weave. First one, an opal. Second one, the monacle and an opal. Ok, things are looking up. Third one, an opal. /cry

Oh Well, wish I had something valuable to report, like spawn time etc. He's got crazy hitpoints, bout 11k, likes to resist wiz spells and snare, and he hits up to about 115 (sometimes doubles for close to 200). Finally, spawn seems random, and as we proved, entirely unpredictable.

Just killed him and dropped the monocle... i feel bad, I ran by and noticed a huge giant... so I conned... blue... went ahead and killed... seems he had a little over 11k hp, not sure precisely, took quite a few ice comets to drop him.. Not a bad solo for a 50 wizard >8) the 206int with 615 +mana helped just a wee bit.

ok, if anyone gets that monocle, i will buy on Vazaelle, send tell in game to Carraaki !

Got this guy today blue to my lvl 57 druid.....
sadly since he didnt drop the monacle for my warrior we waited another hr then left...as he did not respawn..even though we were wiping out all the other giants.
Does anyone have any idea of a spawn timer for him?

Was grping here with some guildies, my first time in DL (scary as hell tons of wandering mobs), well the exp was pretty good we had a good grp and I noticed that the giant weapons were more common drops here than in FM. We mercilessly slaughtered them, I'm sure we could have taken 3-4 at a time although the most we had was 2. Well after some hunting there, our troll warrior 41st says Yellow mob inc. I was like Ooo droptime. All I could say is dear God, hitpoints like you've never seen. After I drained my mana Shealing the tank he wasnt even down to 75% of his health. Of course this was a guild thing and we are very organized everyone knows what theyre doing so the druid alrdy had evac good to go. The ******* doubled me for 113 each when I sat down, which makes 113 his max hit. I called for Evac and we were outta there, left him with maybe 75% of his hp left. Grp consisted of:
41 warrior
39 warrior
38 druid
34 druid
37 cleric (me)

I've hunted a lot of HGs in HG valley in Rathe Mts, and have been in grps that have taken down Broog Bloodbeard (named rare same deal about same level and hit just as hard) but when I foguht him we used snare-fear, and belive or not after my 2nd try my fear spell stuck on him when I was but 31st level, =D. Just as a camparison, this MGpatriarch ******* has maybe twice the hitpoints of Broog. thats a hell of a lotta hp. good luck (druids its gonna be a while hope joo packed your lunch and ES vambraces)
