This General leads a nasty contingent of Dragoons who depart from the city at dusk each night. It is inadvisable to be in their way as they depart the city.

He dropped Pillar of Frost (51 WIZ) today. Of course, on Mayong server a level 51 spell is nearly worthless. =(

normally, while going through OT, I (an Erudite necro) had no problems sitting, medding, or waiting for mobs to show up. Today, however, was a different story. Attacked by everyone...including the normally "don't see me" gargoyles. Never thought twice about this, since at lower levels, I was able to sit pretty much anywhere and no get aggroed by them (in fact, they even helped take the burden of too many mobs off my hands). What gives now?? because I'm level 71??

Have some bad memories of this jerk killing me and my groups when we were in our Lv 30's or so.
I quit for over 4 yrs, but just came back and plan on getting sweet revenge on him with my Lv 70 cleric (good gear, I *should* beat him).
This guy used to harass my Paladin also, but he's only Lv 52 and kinda weak gear, so I'm not going to try it.
I'll try posting a screenshot when I kill him. hehe.

I have noticed the goons in OVerthere have a absolutely giant agression range, they are underconned, and have buggy pathing. I was walking through OVerthere with my lvl 66 monk one time and out of nowhere every single goon in the zone just poped right on me. I didn't even have time to hit the FD button before I was dead.

A couple of times a friend and myself would try to take one but every time we attacked 1 there would be another one come from what seemed like clear accross the zone to help.

I thought I lucked out when I found one of his goons pretty well beat up by a couple tigeresses.... I attacked goon and was getting pretty good results when General Butthead appeared out of nowhere.... end result? One dead 47 Ranger with a quickness. For some reason, contrary to several other posts, Gen did not cast at me at all, just chopped me to bits, hitting for 100-150 with incredible frequency.
My advice? Avoid this punk like the plague. If he shows up on your tracking radar, run the other way.

He is a Shadownight level 58 definetly.

Aggro one of his goons far from where he is at and he comes a runnin.

If you aggro a goon while he is in a meeting he brings like 5 other goons with him. And boy can he move.

casters beware, this prick summons, seems to be a necro. Magic based spell will land, hes got a pretty good MR, but nothing to write home about. Max damage output 169, does have quite a few Hps though. Those combinations = no druid solo :(
Sweet Revenge
# Aug 10 2003 at 5:52 PM Rating: Decent
I've dropped the General twice now solo, revenge is oh so sweet.

His buddies the goons are pretty trivial now at level 65, but, the General does require a fair amount of work to take down solo. He's got lots of hp, and is pretty resistant. The trick was that he is easily slowable with disease based slow, so I had him slowed 50%. Epic dots, and dogdog meleeing, and down he goes. Took 12 minutes to kill him the first time, 9 minutes the second time, he has a boatload of hp.

I'm a 53 Wood Elf Druid and had been farming Sabretooth tigers for pelts the other night. During one of my Quad pulls I noticed one of the tigers missing and saw that he had been attacked by a Dragoon. Dragoon was alone and no one messes with my pelts so I went ahead and attacked him (full disclosure - I have ES Vambrances and had KEI on too). He was snarable but roots would not hold. Did get him down finally and he dropped a wizzy spell. Hmmmm . . . me thinks. Maybe I should try this again.

Next night cycle I'm waiting in SW corner for the goons to go on patrol. I saw DB goons and this Red General on track but directional indicator made it look like general was seperated from goons. I headed for what I thought was a solo goon and it starts raining and it's dark. I crested a hill and ran smack into a full complement patrol - General, his pet and 3 goons. Luckily was in wolf form so didn't lose speed as my health dropped to 1/3 Blue Bulb before I finally zoned to Warsalik Woods (didn't go out to FM zone as there were a couple groups hunting up there and it would have been a wipe out for sure).

Bottom line - - - > Watch out for this guy if you are soloing. You may be able to handle one Goon but not this guy.

The other day my group was in OT fighting the gargoyles in the outpost. We decided to try the general, as we had already killed every other goon. The group consisted of 55 war, 56 dru, 54 cle, 55 mage, 52 bard, and 55 rogue. He came with a pet. We completely crushed him. The cleric was at 60m when the fight was over, and he dropped the mage spell Velocity. I was the druid at the fight. He resisted my nukes almost completely, but all my dots stuck, as well as snare. He resisted my Epic (big suprise there).

If this is true I'm both surprised and impressed...none of you were 60..so he was red to all of you. In all my days I have never once heard of a single group bringing him down so that's quite an accomplishment (especially for mid 50's players).

Killed him last night. Was pulling Rottgrime and General V'Deers added, along with another Goon. After a five minute or so fight, they all lay on ground, dead. We took no casualties. Group was me (60 mage), another 60 mage, 60 cleric, 56 chanter, 55 monk, 57 shammy. General dropped a fine steel two handed sword (WHEE!).

Avoiding the General
# Mar 27 2002 at 5:09 AM Rating: Default
Best way to avoid him is to camp in the corner of the zone. The goons usually never wander off the path. If your at the cliff area of the zone, Just get an evil (non iksar, well besides a monk) to pull. Most of the places that ruin VS faction Kaesora, Karnors, Howling Stones, *not sure about HS* are too high for you and you shouldnt get xp from OT mobs, well not much anyhow..I have a DE necro, and ive pulled there with only a few minor problems. Oh yeah. BARDS AND ROGUES!!! get your mask of deception from lower guk! It helps loads here. Bards and Rogues have WAAAY better ac than an enchanter hehe. (Which ive grped with one that did pull) Ah well.. Im rambling...Have a good day all!! =)

Was looking at a group of 10 peeps 55-60 killing rotgrimme for mage epic, and after rotgrimme dead, 8 stayed there and was pulling the golems and iron sentinells. They managed to kill them quickly, then Vdeers aggroed from far away.

They dropped him to 20% hp before he killed the last guy. Score 8-0

My group got jumped by the 'ol General tonight and somehow, by the grace of Mithaniel, I survived. The Half Elf Bard and other Paladin didn't even make it back to the ledge. I'm a Half Elf Paladin and saw him run right over me with his pet by his side. I think he was beating on the bard at the time... I ran straight up the hill and looked into down on the carnage that brewed below... I was there, watching him slaughter people and waiting for my turn... I will find pennance somehow. This guy has his stuff down, though... the double hit for 150 followed by a bash and another round of 150's is some tough *&^% to survive.

My Barb. Shammy BARSHA arrived OT when he was 34.

One day when he logged in at 35, he found no group there and his weight was encumbered. So he decided to go the outpost to try whether he can sell or bank.

When he turned out left away the ledge from FM entrance, not far away he saw this named guy (the first time in his life). When the guy ran forwards him, he knew soemthing's wrong. After sceonds, one bubble of HP was gone and he had no hesitation to run back towards FM zone.

Along his way back, he luckily saw that the guy was not following him (with the third person view on) and finally he zoned out. (He is now 37 and never died in OT once)

The question is why he was so luckily and the answer is because he had a pet with him at that time.

Of course, his doggie did not come back as it bravely fight with the 58 guy for just few seconds and then died but it did save its master's life. Moreover, Shammy is always has SOW on all the time, but it might be Scale of Wolf instead of Spirit of Wolf, the Shammy doesn't remember.

So, if you are a caster type and have pet, call one out always and it would save your life one day.

They are not on DE faction, they are on Venril Sathir. If you worship an evil god you should be safe, unless your race is "bad". Iksar worship Cazic-Thule, but since nobody likes Iksar we are KOS. I just went to OT today (lvl 28 Paladin) and my group (31 Ranger, 31 Shaman, 35 Warrior) I was invis most of the time, This suckiest thing was the Undeads on the dock, i /conned them from the boat and it was indif, but as soon as i got on the dock i /conned the Undead Marine again and it was scowls at you ready to attack, and I was invis at that point so these guys see thru invis, your best bet if your a good race is to jump off the boat and swim to the shore, then you have to swim around the city and get on the shore on the other side of the wall. Most of the animals and monsters /conned red to me but the tigers and rhino's didnt attack even tho their con said they would, sorta like Crocs. THe Sarnaks are the only things you have to worry about until i saw V'Deers luckilly I was able to zone into Skyfire Mts before he could attack me, he just finished off the Iksar Monk as I was zoning, but this dude only comes out at night right? B/c if he is out during the day my stay in OT is gonna suck

(im a mean person, yes i know) it was a massacre, and i havent seen so many corpses since my newbie time.

I was killing giants in FM one day and a bad pull of two craigs and a tump resulted in my death. Unfortunately, I was bound in the outpost, so there was an adventurous journey thru lower OT ahead of me. I was a 29 SK at the time, so con message for everything down there was, "%t scowls at you ready to attack - What would you like your tombstone to say?". Everything except the cacti, that is. To make things worse, I'm a poor naked lizard with no food, water, AC, weapon, etc. All of this makes for a quite tense journey. Well anyway, I got to the ledge finally, started to ease my grip on the mouse, and stopped paying attention a little. Then I see this guy at the zone in a red uniform (probably got trained there earlier). Before I could realize who this was, or see the name written above him, he started running toward me. I thought, "Oh, s--t, I'm dead." I figured what the hell and tried to avoid him to get to the zone. I didn't mention that a nice shammy at the outpost gave me a sow, so I thought there might be a chance to get by the guard and zone into FM. The following chat log would look something like the following.

General V'Deers bashes YOU for 28 point damage.
YOU are stunned.
Janglur thinks Oh ---- it!!!
Auto attack on.
General V'Deers slashes YOU for 100 points of damage.
General V'Deers slashes YOU for 187 points of damage.
YOU try to crush General V'Deers, but miss!!
YOU try to crush General V'Deers, but miss!!
General V'Deers slashes YOU for 163 points of damage.
General V'Deers slashes YOU for 146 points of damage.
You are no longer stunned.
General V'Deers bashes YOU for 32 points of damage.
You are stunned...again!
General V'Deers slashes you for 168 points of damage.
General V'Deers trys to slash YOU, but you are dead!!
You have been slain by General V'Deers.
Returing to home point...
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...

And then I chose a different route to retreive my original corpse in FM.

hehe, I'd say your encounter, though unpleasent, was much more favourable than mine. I'm an iksar monk, and was told by a higher lvl iksar monk to head to timorus deep via the boat here, though he forgot to mention I was KOS. I ran right up into the camp without a care in the world, and boom, the bastard HT'd me for 941. I was only lvl 24 at the time, so that pretty much killed me. So much for FD. Anyway, a nice DE dragged my corpse out, and a friend of his 50% rezzed me, but argh, the nerve of that guy. I will be back someday destroy him and all his inkie friends.

Couldn't have been the general that killed ya. during the day the Gen remains inside his little cabin. Untill it's time to patrol. It was probably one of the skellies that walk around who got ya. There is a goon that stands near the docks, but it's not the general, and the other goons are clerics if I'm not mistaken, and since clerics don't ht it probably was one of those skellies. I know cause I am a darkelf who spent like 10 levels in the OT. Running around freely laughing at the good guys having to run from the goons. Now the tables have turned, since I've killed some mobs in kc and hs. Even the general got a chance to get some vengence on my wrong doings on venril sathir. Was going to hs when my invis wore off and he and another goon was at the skyfire zoneline. I managed to kill one goon but the general got me while everone else ran. I guess they didn't feel like killing goons. He's still one bad mofo though :)Now that I am higher level he better watch out.

Well it turns out he was coming back from the fm zone and i ran into him he hit me 8 times for over 100 damage of course. He stunned me and i just gave him a rude gesture and as soon as i could move zoned.Well as a 30 warrior I have pretty good hp and ac and i was down to one bub of health and i had heat blood on me.Luckily there was some friendly druids at zone who healed me and kept me alive.I'm just glad he didn't ht me or i would have definitely died.

rofl that was ME. I got so ticked after that one I took a month off EQ just to cool my jets. I had my buffs up AND a Rune V. For some odd reason I couldnt outrun him with form of the howler (super fast wolfform). Died like 30' from zone, with my head still spinning.

Getting a rez in this zone can be VERY expensive. And level 55 experiance is like 3 to 5 hours per blue.

Good races: Keep invis on in this zone, and never let your guard down.

Hi I am Xukanik 40 monk when I was in ot from lvl 30 to lvl 36 or so i got attacked about 25-30 times in OT by the guards 7 times by the general he killed me 4 out of the 5 times i was killed so it seems that fd works great on the guard exept for the general who does not fall for fd as often ad the guards.

A word from your friendly General
# Oct 08 2001 at 1:19 AM Rating: Decent
Hello there all, this is General V'Deers. People ask me all the time, "General, why do you kill all the poor people trying to hunt in the Overthere?" And I tell them, "Well, its because my name is V'Deers, and that gets me pissed off because I sound like I'm a big deer or something. So when I go out on patrol I harmtouch the nearest sarnak or cactus I find, and then go around owning people for fun. Its a good workout too!"
Anyway, I'm not a bad person really...walk up to me and hug me sometime. Then say, "General V'Deers, I am a shmuck with no gopher!" And if I'm in a good mood, I'll give you a pat on the back and five dollars so you can buy yourself a sandwich from Arby's. If I'm in a bad mood, I'll use your spleen to make myself a nice smoothie. Either way, you get screwed, because the only Arby's in the Overthere is out of horsey sauce, so your sandwich won't be anywhere up to par. Oh well.

Whenever a goon kills on of those ***damned kiters I feel it is poetic justice, spurn hunting in groups will you? Don't want am evil race to pull for you? Wait till you meet my pals the goons, then your tune will change.

P.S. If you're in wolf form the goons will agro on you despite your actual race, if you have a damge shield don't bother dropping it (you've aggroed them really well now) just run to zone.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 10 2001 at 11:02 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What's your problem with druids and kiters ? I solo all the time and I cause no problems to groups who tend to just hog the FM ledge and Skyfire zones cos they are too damned @#%^ like to get out and about in OT. Wassup shorty... Can't run to the zone fast enough can ya ! I just track these damned darkies and keep away as they stink anyway.

My guild killed the General!!
# Aug 15 2001 at 10:24 AM Rating: Default
hey all, just thought I would toss is a good story on the o' General. Last night, I jumped on to see what my guild was doing. A mage said that he needed some help doing part of his epic (Killing Capt. Rottgrim). I thought to myself, ok, this should be fun, so I ran over to OT from FV, and when we all got there, we ran to the spot to pull the Capt. (We had 3 full groups, one chanter, one cleric, one druid, 2 wizs, and a bunch of different tanks (wars, monks, rangers, pallys) We had a monk that FD pulled the cliff golem, and the chanter started hailing Capt, and the monk popped up too soon, and pulled the Capt, the golem, and General V'Deers. We had the druid attempt kiting the General, while the rest of us started beating on the captian. We killed the Captain, and low and behold, the General came back. We started attacking (My group was a monk, 2 wars, a monk, Wiz, and the druid). The Wiz and I were the only ones that survived in my group, but I did get the finishing blow on General V'Deers and the exp from the kill :o) Just thought I would let people know that Revenge is Sweet, because I can remember when this Goon killed me in my 30's

Dont forget that NPC HT has a recycle time too. Usualy the general has spent his on some tiger outside outpost before he gets to you. At least I have succesfully feigned him at least three times and never got harmtouched, just the usual round of about 500 melee damage.
level 58?

How can this little General... a little guard... be more powerful than the huge golems guarding the doors... or be more powerful the Venril Sathir himself who escaped death? Makes no sense.

a lot of things in this game make no sense. seeing gnome wizards nuke the livin ^&*$ out of giants is one. me being able to forage water in the middle of the desert, but not foraging water while it's raining and i'm swimming in a river is another. how every npc in norrath can tell your religion just by looking at you, and telling if you have killed one of their friends or enemies just by looking at you. welcome to eq my friend :)

Man you should see this guy when he's STONED. God damn funny sh*t. He's eating potato chips like there's no tomorrow and laffing his ass off at everyone. Much more peaceful too, wouldn't kill anything but Gnomes when he was up in the clouds. That time it was an accident too. Was dancin around with his sword... and dropped it on one of those little phewl gnomes.

The aggro message is simply

General v'deer hits YOU for 157 points of damages
General V'deer hits YOU for 163 points of damages
General V'deer bashes YOU for 37 points of damages
you are stuned
General V'deer begins to cast a spell.
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT.

General V'deer HT is : 1400 hp. His pet is the biggest a SK could have and is 35 or so. If General V'deer jump on you, you're dead. No need to run, just see him a few seconds ( if you can turn before stun )

The first time I roamed into the overthere, I decided it'd be a good idea to go the merchants in the city. I didn't know exactly where it was, so I started opening doors. Keep in mind that I'm a good, wood elf. So, me, being rock stupid, not knowing this is a city for dark races only, open the door to the generals headquarters. I've got about 911 hps. As soon as I opened the door, this general d'veers and all his friends, killed me so fast, I didn't even have time to open the door all the way. Just WHA BLAMM!, dead. So, if you are good, stay as far away from the generals headquarters as possible. Instant death will be yours.

General V'Deers is a bad-ass shadowknight with an attitude. No he will not outrun a sow, but he can and will cast darkness on you which will dispel your sow and slow you to walking speed. If he gets in melee range he can hit you for 160+, and will Harm Touch for much more. And his annoying pet can stun you with bash if it gets close enough. Basically if you aggro this guy you are either 1) dead while running for the zone 2)dead while wondering WTF is hitting you...
What king of.....

one day, i wass the puller for my group and noticed that V'Deers was up all thru the night. Then it got to morning and daytime and he STILL was up. he was up for 4 RL hours and our group at SF got aggroed by goons 3 times and i was in targeting range for General twice. There may not be set scheedule for sometimes but if you see a DE anywhere and you are a good race and class. you better run like damn hell to the zone if you dont want to be raped by these !$^#&(&*.

PS, if they had guns in this game id put a god damn shell right thru their sorry little asses for 6000 points of non-melee damage.
