Went into the Skyfire entrance and grouped my 51 druid with a 50 ranger and a 50 Shaman, we got debbufed by these creatures, but after the third one I got my Spell (Winter)
Well up at the top is says "unresistable". I was helping a cleric with fragments, trying to avoid these guys, ran over a hill and tripped on one. Temp and KEI was gone before I could say darn. Next to go was DS and wolf form(speed). Zoned with Boil blood and the rest of my buffs intact. KEI was second slot Temp was around 10th slot. My opinion? They aim for the most valuable ones first.

I like to solo these with my 51 necro, I don't use KEI so thats not wasted... I Don't use many buffs because those are wasted and I make pp by simly selling the essence. So worth it =D
He is DC able (enc). He dispells ALOT. That includes your debuffs and dots. The dispell also helps taunt. He only makes a good pet if you don't want to help with the fight at all.
His for double 145 max with spirit of vallon and nights dark terror. Killed most things his size and even some that con higher than him.
The fact that you waste your mana on dots snare root slow etc makes him a bad choice for pet but you CAN DC him. Works ok if you fear and nuke so his dispelling doesn't really hold me back.
Been killing these for the essence of sunlight. Level 51 Monk, Bard, Shaman, and Enchanter. Basically, no buffs. Bard twists in haste song. Enchanter and Shaman are ok with KEI, as long as Monk keeps it occupied. Also, shaman throws in slow. They hit in the 100's at times when they aren't boiling your blood or debuffing you. I would hazard a guess at 4-6khp on them.
anyone out there able to tell me how hard they hit and a guess on their HPS. am a 55 sk and need the essence of sunlight off them wondering about possibilities with this rather than camping SG for 2 days and being luck to loot one. thanks in advnace
Before taking on one of these things I put on every buff i can, all my resist buffs, seee invis, attack buffs, anything to shield my sow/ wolfform and my KEI.
Rooting and dottting is very effective, as the range of the swarm buffs outrange the bebuffing of the chromadracs.
Of course I always have Egress memmed as a back up.
totally agree with this strategy...have been doing it for ages. So confident with it now that i just put on Form of the Howler and dont worry about any other buffs, except KEI. Resisted the chromdrac dispell a few times.
I have been hunting these for a few days and have tryed many buff combos. I have found that it really dosnt matter what you have on or where it is on your buff string. I have had these dispell my 1st and 4th buffs, and then the second and third , they dont always just do the first ones on your string. I dont know how it chooses but am going to start writing down which get debufed each time so we will have a better idea on what they are really doing to us
Was in a landing party heading for Chardok. Stupid short cut. Was attacked 3 seconds after landing. Hit with blood boil while trying to haste a fighter. Cast rune, dispelled my rune in top spot, sow in 3rd, and HoS in 5th. I got to keep my kei...for about 10 more seconds. =(
They no longer need to be in melee range to dispell or cast boil blood! I used to root-dot these suckers for easy exp. I just soloed one and he never got anywhere near me, but still got to dispell me quite a few times. I also tried casting Scoriae on them, and it was flat out resisted 3 out of 3 times. (I'm level 54 and these were dark blue. I know that they normally have good fire resistance, but damn...)
My hubby and I fear kite these with our 55 necro and 55 beastlord. These are the mobs we had always avoided with our other characters (monk and shaman). But now they are a walk in the park.
When soloing these in this zone I got three wizard spell drops during my time there. One was a level 51 pillar spell and the other two where a level 57 wizard pillar spell ( can't remember the names ). The wings also sell for about 1pp in Neriak.
These are easy to kill if you kite them and keep them at a good distance. They do not cast dispell until almost in melee range, and I never got hit with the Blood Boil unless they were already hitting me. Paralyzing Earth (49th wiz root) works really well, I can often use harvest and med for the last two nukes to finish one off, by the time they break they are usually hovering.. don't seem to flee for some reason.
In addition to the Dispelling problem, these cast Boiling Blood as well, a nasty little spell. Take care if you are near zone border, as they like to kill you when they are on the return trip from zone line if you are medding.
Well by putting 2 cheesy buffs that might work for the first 10 seconds until the rest of your buffs are gone. The Chromadrac can dispell a FULL row of buffs in a few seconds....Just like the mobs that dispell in the planes do.
There sure is a big difference in the number of buffs mobs cancel at once. I don't know about chromadracs, but I'm pretty sure cobalt drakes in Cobalt Scar try to cancel three. Mobs in Plane of Fear seem to cancel fifteen. Necromancers have a bunch of self-only junk buffs, so I tried putting six ahead of my real buffs, on the expectation that they would cancel nine or so. All fifteen buff slots were filled when I got in range of the mob's ae cancel, and before I could blink all of them were off. Of course, planes raids are pretty laggy, so it may have had two or three rounds of cancelling even though I only saw one.
Junk buffs are good if you're kiting and may get dispelled only once or twice. They're also good if they're instant clicks like jboots so that you can put them on faster than the mob can take them off. Different dispell mobs have different effects, that try to remove different numbers of buffs. A dispell may try to remove your top two buffs, or your top nine buffs, or some other number in between. I don't know how many at a time chromadracs try to remove, but I think it's one of the low ones. If it tries to remove only two, then two clicky buffs could protect your real buffs.
It did the same to me, pet, friend, and his pet. What have I learned from this? Put 2 or 3 cheesy buffs on first, then your good stuff =) I think that is how they do it in planes. It works here.
This thing likes to dispell also....almost killed me when it took away my regen and sow and str buff all in 1 second. Then right after that a wurm decided to whack me twice for 125.
