Old World Zone Info:

Mountain Giant Craigs are about the same level as your average Hill or Sand Giant. They drop considerably less loot however.

They are immune to stuns.

Cost FROM Vendor

I can't help but wonder about many of these loot items (lords tunic, foremans tunic, a weighted axe, and other weapons). I looked out of curiosity at the cost a vendor in POK (the one who sells bat wings) sells these for. He was charging something like 1454 plat for the lords tunic, 1200 plat or so for foremans tunic, and most of the weapons ranged from 250 to 500 plat (I think the giant grub digger was like 1100 plat). Mind you, my charisma when I was looking was about 130 or so.

Why would the vendor charge so much? I wonder if this is a possible indicator that they have more of a purpose than just weapons or armor (i.e. quests, turn-ins, etc.). In the bazaar, the tunics are selling for about 20 plat or so on Stromm (typically a way overpriced bazaar). Several of the weapons are selling for 50 plat.

Any thoughts?

In general, vendor prices for items (both the prices they buy and sell things at) have absolutely nothing to do with how 'useful' the item is in game. There's just no relation whatsoever.

Do you think a level 31 would get good exp at FG camp ??

Ouch
# Jan 25 2003 at 5:40 PM Rating: Default
as a 41 bard I was with my 44 druid partner. we were farming these giants for cash (and sometimes exp since some of them were LB, braes and craigs were DB) and then we came across these guys -- we thought they would be easy since everything in the fort was killed in about a minute or so (one mob a minute, I meant), but then we noticed these guys were badass! They have lots of HP, and drop crap PP (highest I saw was 5 or so.) got killed once, and almost got killed AGAIN while my partner was AFK. Watch out, and get a healer =P

# Mar 17 2002 at 1:04 PM Rating: Decent
no these giants only drop up to 6pp.

but the items you can loot drop more often
than the low lvl mountain giants.

in 5 giants i got a forest loop and
a lumberjack cap.

they seems to have a good amount of hp though.

they hit for 81 max.
What about PP?

But now im older (lvl 44 Necro) and have heard these guys drop great PP... is that true? Is it worth coming back to kill them to stack my bank account?

I was soloing craigs in Dreadlands, when on one pull the giant dropped both a Giant Grub Digger AND a Straw Spun Belt. Well, I thought that was nifty to get two uncommon items in one drop. Seeing a giant weilding an axe not far away, I dropped him to discover both an Axe of the Iron Back and a Hammer of Flattening!

hehe, I was feeling pretty lucky after that...

In FM...
# Oct 28 2001 at 3:44 AM Rating: Good
I have spent the past month (and 7 levels) in FM. I am usually stuck with groups that try to avoid braes and craigs, so I do not have a lot of experience with them, but I do have some.

All giants that I have seen in FM hit for up to the mid 60's, I don't think I've ever seen one higher than that. A lot of the time Tumps and Hillocks will hit for 5-15, and miss a lot. Craigs don't. They usually hit on the upper end of the scale and hardly ever miss, taking about twice as long as a tump/hillock to kill. A STR debuff and slowing spell helps a lot with them. As a chanter I love when these get pulled, because they make GREAT pets, as long as you can deal with the aggro that will follow after.

In general, they resist my spells a little more than other giants in FM, but not much more.

IMO, they are not worth it, since they don't give much more exp than a brae and can seriously hurt an unprepared group (always expect at least one add, always plan for 2 adds). I am not a pulling class, so I don't know how easy it is to get them alone, but they usually come with an add. The biggest problem with Craigs is that a lot of players see it as a really big mob that cons red. This scares a lot of players, making them forget how to play their class correctly. A group that works together can take one down without much difficulty, most groups can take down a Craig with a Tump or Hillock as an add and not lose anybody in the process.

Hope this helps.

These hit for about 80 to 90 hit points, well, that is for me, a druid with very low AC
RE: How much do they hit for
# Sep 10 2001 at 7:54 AM Rating: Default
They hit me about that hard (43 SK with 850+ AC), damn hard to solo as they have alot of HP's. I have to fear kite him as he has about 2000 HP's. Very tough, he's even killed me at 43, of course he had help from 2 other giants but nonetheless he's pretty tough.

These guys also drop straw spun belts. I was lucky enough to be in a party that found a forest loop and straw spun belt on the same kill. Wasn't lucky enough to win the roll on either one though :(

well, from what i have heard, the rings only drop in dreadlands. In my experience, one has never droped in FM. When in dreadlands, our group got one but i lost the roll.

Stuns!
# Sep 24 2000 at 3:53 AM Rating: Decent
Well I'm not sure about player stun spells but my 29 air pet successfully stunned one today that was red to me at 31. The stun bought me the time I needed to start casting again and to let the tanks finally agro to them. My air pet have saved me a bunch of times.
