Ive found more hematite on these guys then I have found tapestries. Been hunting for 1/2 an hour clearing the land of all creatures with my level 20 Necro and have looted 17 brains, 1 tapestry, 4 hematite and more heads then I can count(though I just leave those on the corpse.

Good advice, they do spawn frequently. none at this spot but all can be found from this spot. some fromt he NE and a some to the SW. and do kill the darn goblins as well. I killed the kittens as well but I don't think you need to in order to protect the hatchlings from being killed before you can get to them
Must have been lucky
# Oct 15 2004 at 8:54 PM Rating: Decent
Just got through reading these posts on the brains and tapestries. I must have gotten really lucky. Had tapestries drop 5 times (both torn and ripped) in about 90 minutes while I was hunting brains for the quest. Couldn't loot more than one of each tapestry, though. Figured I'd have both 1st and 2nd rank skullcaps at once.

Unfortunately, I failed the combine on the tapestry. Been another 90 mins, and haven't seen another one drop at all. Bah.

I've seen the torn and ripped tapestrys several times and i didn't know what they were for. Being that I don't normally loot no drop items, I left them behind. Now that I need them, I can't even find the sarnak hatchlings let alone the tapestrys. I finally got a torn, but I haven't seen a ripped. I'm getting real tired of hanging out in an area with greens just to find this stupid thing.
Sarnak Whelp Head

They also drop this. It is a no drop, so I'm sure it is for a newbie quest of some sort.

The sarnak whelp heads is for a quest for shadows newbie quest
Spawn Rate
# Nov 09 2002 at 12:16 PM Rating: Decent
These accually spawn much faster then 15 minutes, more like 2 minutes. The problem is the gobos and sarnaks are enemies, and the stronger gobos (hunters and watchers) take these out soon after they spawn. My suggestion is to wipe clear all the gobos in the area, then all the cats and what not to keep the spawn rate up. Worked nice for me. Got the 8 brains in about 30 minutes (seems to have a 33% drop rate on brains). I have yet to see any pages drop, so I share the frustration on the 2nd skull cap. Anyone know if the drop is broke? I'm starting to think so. GL all.

Just like Tindarl stated almost a year ago... You turn right as soon as you come to the first ruins. Between there and the base of the mountains, you will find the Hatchlings. Now here is something I found. There are only 2 Sarnak Hatchlings that exist. You kill these 2 and you have to wait 15-30 minutes for the next 2 to pop.

If you go further southwest, you'll start to run into Sarnak Broodlings. You won't find any brains on these guys (on there way to being Flunkies. Smiley: rolleyes

Now, I'm looking for the tapestry for the 2nd rank. I've found brains and heads so far but no tapestry's. Sounds too rare.

Where
# Oct 01 2001 at 9:38 AM Rating: Good
When you enter LOIO from Cabilis just turn right after the ruins. There are usually skeletons, sabertooth cubs and kittens, goblins of all sorts, and the sarnak hatchlings. After spending levels 5 to halfway thru 8 here the common drop is the head (always), then the brain (1 out of 5), and blood (only have 2 so far). Not once has there been any tapestries or helms.

The heads are for an SK quest and the brains for an ok low level quest. I just hunt these things while waiting for skels and goblin watchers, good quest with those watcher torches (3 get you an aloe bandage). Always keep bandaging skill maxed, it can save you when the mana is low.
Where & Why
# Sep 25 2001 at 10:47 PM Rating: Default
These are fairly easy to find in the newbie area between the small town outside Cablis and the first set of ruins, often wandering around in the 1st ruins as well. If you are having trouble finding them it is probably because they drop various item for many quests making them quite sought after. Besides the 5 items listed below, I have also looted a bronze ring off one. (Wt 0.1, does abloutely nothing)

# Apr 27 2001 at 12:06 PM Rating: Default
Is it just me or are they hard to find? where do they spawn relative to the cabilis entrance?
RE: Where?
# Nov 30 2002 at 1:59 AM Rating: Excellent
Right side as you exit Cabilis into FoB (left side is level 1 mobs, right side is level 2-4 mobs). Best spot is around +6000,-5500 or so.

Hatchling Spawn Time
# Oct 17 2000 at 7:43 PM Rating: Decent
Around the newbie area, you'll find usually no more then 2 hatchlings at a time. After they're killed just kill other mobs (cubs, kits, whelp, skeletons, scouts, etc.) to increase the spawn rate of hatchlings. The chance of a hatchling spawning quickly increases the more you kill other mobs. The drop rate of loot will be posted on a different string.
Brains
# Jul 23 2000 at 1:48 AM Rating: Good
They drop both brains (pink in colour )and their head. The heads for the SK quest and is the common drop the brains are rarer but you should get 4 easly in say 1hr.The also very rare drop 2 diferent pieces of tapestry for necro 2nd rank skull cap quest.
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 15 2000 at 8:26 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you got it backwards, Brains common, heads rarer, I've been looking for days and have yet to see a head on these scalies but I've taken off tons of brains and hands and all that other fun stuff
