it seems like Sir Hobble / Squire Fuzzmin's behavior has changed over the years. i have been trying to locate these two guys for a couple of days now to turn in my dragon scales. tried speaking to the barbarian chick and the ogre in the outpost, waited 18min, 30min, an hour, nothing. did this half a dozen times. finally just decided to hang out in the outpost with track up. finally Sir Hobble popped East / NE of the outpost.

I ran out to him and Squire was already walking with him. hailed both, neither would stop. tried root and snare, but got a message that neither spells could be cast on either of them (never saw that before). so i just walked with them as I handed in the scales to Squire and voila, Wurmslayer.

i decided to follow them, they were headed straight west towards DL. as they walked west they pathed through countless drachnids and surprisingly neither Hobble, Fuzz or the spiders seemed to care that the other was there. eventually they made it to the tunnel, walk about halfway in and stopped at +95, +4667, -149

after a short pause, they turned around and went back out the way they came. again, walking through spiders, frogloks and goblins without any issue. eventually they walked far enough east and stopped at -365, -521, +33.56, just south of the drolvarg fort (kind of small to be a fort) - i think this may be where he spawned when i first saw him on track, although by the time i ran out to meet him (from outpost) he had made his way a little more west than that location.

again after a short pause they turned around and headed west to the tunnel, walked in and this time paused a little bit before halfway then turned around and back east they went. at this point i was bored and left. the point of all this is that they did not spawn anywhere near the "brown pit" up north, nor were they near the drolvargs, nor did Hobble start attacking mobs left and right.
Where is he?

His pathing seems to be bugged. After hailing Sir Hobble I found him running back and forth around -2486, -1193

It was a pain to turn in the stuff because he wouldn't stop running.
Hes still alive

As of today i can confrim that if you hail Sir Hobble in FV who still walks around the cave by the river, Fuzzmin does spawn and stay up for a while. Although i picked him up on my track closer to the good area is now. stayed up for around 30 mins. sorry didnt complete quest didnt have parts.

Hail Hobble - he called for Squire - a bunch of times - Squire never shows - never shows on track - POS quest is busted
Hope this Helps

Just finished quest - Hobble spawned across river and walked twards tunnels. Kept him alive untill Fuzzmin showed up. I was able to turn in scales while running behind fuzzmin.. A friend that was with me was turned in scales while I rooted Hobble. This way seemed better because Fuzz comes to a stop to talk to Hobbie. Hobble was a long wait, girl in bar was a waste of time. if you want to find him wait by tunnel's untill he Hobble shows up on track. ( I did wait over an Hour maybe two) B4 Hobble showed up.

I have seen several posts in which people complained about having to follow Hobble around after finding him. This is a waste of time. My answer is to just hail Hobble and once he calls Fuzzmin I root Hobble. Fuzzmin runs to him fairly quickly and you can hand in scales while they are stationary. You will take a few hits from Hobble while this is going on but who cares. Just make sure you get out of zone as quick as possible before Hobble is killed by some mob or you'll take a faction hit. Also, you don't need to talk to Fuzzmin before turning in scales, just turn them in.

I have not been able to confirm the methods for spawning Sir Hobble. I've searched the whole zone a couple times with track after hailing Lenka Stoutheart and never seen Hobble or Fuzzmin or Hobble up. The two times I was successful were pure luck. I logged into zone just south of the bridge and he popped close by within about 15 minutes. Once was at 8AM gametime and the other was at 7PM game time, so I don't think it matters if it's day or night.
Finding Sir Hobble and his wandering idiot
# Jan 14 2003 at 4:03 AM Rating: Default
I followed the advise on these boards about hailing the barb woman and then asking her to show me something interesting. I then immediately took off, flying out of FV and heading due east (love sow potions).

I continued to head east, looking at every high elf I could find (Sir Hobble is a high elf paladin, who just so happens to dual wield. Go figure). After about my 20th pilgrim, I spotted a path and figured, what the heck. I turned north and followed the path. Low and behold, here was Sir Hobble, minding his own business. I spotted him along this path at approximately neg900 neg1500. After hailing him, his little friend showed up about 2 mins later.

Turned in the scales on the move (tricky) and got my wurmy.

Couple things I noticed. If they encounter a mob, they switch directions. They were originally headed south, then turned north, then south again, switching with every encounter. It seems that they reach a point of getting even with FV, then head towards town. I then heard over OOC that they will then turn after reaching town and head for DL (this part is rumor AFAIK).

Use this info as you will.

Went to see Lenka Southeart and said "I want to see something interesting" which spawns Sir Hobble.

Ranger friend with max tracking from FV bridge found Sir Hobble right away. He was way out of town to the northeast, walking north at 0, -1500.

Hailed Sir Hobble to spawn Squire Fuzzmin, and tracked him back towards town, just standing still at -1500, 1100. Handed in the 3 scales, quest complete. He was still standing there when I finally left.
Broken?

I've talked to the chick in the Alcohol shop many times and never seen the guy pop. I have been tryng to do this for weeks off and on. I've used a high level tracker to verify that he's not up. Either he's random or it's broken, imo. Now, I'm wishing I would have just leveled and purchased a wurm. What a pain. What do you guys think?

All Id like to say on the subject is...this quest is a major pain in the ***. Look, Verant ...I killed your damn wurms, now give me an NPC I can freakin find to hand the things into. Do you go out of your way to be annoying? Were any of your employees breastfed? God!

/rant off
Where is this little guy?
# Jul 11 2002 at 2:46 PM Rating: Excellent
OK, I am currently on my third trip to Firiona Vie to try to get my Wurmslayer. I have been able to get Sir Hobble to spawn many times and I have been able to find him and hail him at least five times. He always called the squire. However, I have yet to see the squire, ever. I have followed Sir Hobble's blind **** around several times as he attacked everything in sight. I healed him and helped him out while waiting for the squire to show up. I have had a great deal of difficulty trying to keep this guy alive. So far nada. Zilch.

Is this quest broken or am I doing something wrong?

Just wondering.

What i did

Level 53 wiz here looking for a wurmy for my lvl 24 war... so i go out and kill the wurms np, get the boring junk in OT/temple of sol ro done fast but i come to FV and i get a 58 bard and 40 ranger to help me hunt for hobble and no sign of him. They both said they saw him on track and followed to the point where he was supposed to be but he wasn't there. I figure this may be where he spawns after you hail the barb. Anyways gonna go try that now just thought someone might be interested that he was on track... even without hailing the barb woman in town.

Gonna go try Tosh's method and see if it works =)
This is the most annoying part of the quest
# Mar 31 2002 at 6:05 PM Rating: Decent
I had an easier time killing the dang Wurms than I did finding this little squirt.

FYI, you do *not* need to hail Fuzzmin, nor do you have to talk to him period. I simply ran up behind him, followed him along and gave him each scale. The trumpets sounded, got some faction and exp, and there was a Wurmy in my inventory.

Beware, Fuzzmin likes to de-pop and appear other places. I had this happen to me twice before I was able to successfully give him the scales. It is very, very frustrating.
Spawn time / location
# Jan 30 2002 at 12:04 AM Rating: Default
I had the pleasure of tracking Sir Hobble over about a six hour period tonight. Trigger him by saying "show me something interesting" to Lenka Stoutheart. She is located in the same building as the brew barrel.

IMMEDIATELY start tracking for Sir Hobble. Of the five or six times I triggered him, I always found him somewhere near the trail that parallels the river from FV to LIO, so focus on that area.

For some reason, he wants to try to kill every spider he sees. As said before, he can handle one or two, but when he gets swarmed by five or six, it's all over. Clearing the area of spiders before triggering him seemed to help quite a bit. You don't need to kill the spiders yourself, just pull them to the drixie's and pilgrims and let them do the work.

After hailing Sir Hobble, the squire will be along shortly. If you time your movements to match his, you should have no problems turning in the scales while on the move.

G'luck to ye!

To get Sir Hobble to spawn go finf Lenka Stoutheart ( a barbarian woman) in a hut with an Ogre and dwarf. Ask her to "show me something interesting" Then leave. This will spawn Sir Hobble (a high elf pally). Go to Sir Hobble and hail him. THIS WILL SPAWN SQUIRE FUZZMIN !!! Yay!!

Trolls in FV
# Aug 21 2001 at 9:12 PM Rating: Default
I have seen trolls running around in FV before. I think you have to kill like 3000 to 4000 gobbies to do it, but it is possible. Hobble and the squire are both on FV faction.
RE: Trolls in FV
# Aug 22 2001 at 3:19 PM Rating: Default
I'm one of those trolls that can walk around FV. All I did was go to WW and clear the goblin fort a few times while camping Grachnist The Destroyer for the Shrunken Goblin Skull Earring. Never got the earring, but got to dubious faction in FV by killing maybe 200 goblins. Since then I have worked my way up to indifferent faction; however there are still a couple NPC's in FV that don't like me (like the barbarian Alex McDarnin for example).
Hobble & Fuzzmin
# Aug 18 2001 at 5:53 AM Rating: Decent
I have just completed the quest 2 hours ago with my partner. Out of a total of 6 hours of hunting Sir Hobble, he spawned 3 times, 2 hours apart. This is how it happened. Spoke to Lenka Stoutheart in FV, then headed out to the wilderness in an easterly direction. We did the circuit many times over the period of 2 hours. Hobble showed up on track and after hailing him, we followed him and protected him from the mobs. Squire Fuzzmin spawned and followed Hobble. My partner was able to give the scales to Fuzzmin in a pause of 3 seconds as he turned around. We had to evac seconds later, because of the mobs. Next try, we talked to Lenka Stouthart again in FV, then ran out to the wilderness. We killed a Goblin Battlemaster whilst running the circuit and around the two hour mark, Hobble showed up on track, however he disappeared off the track within seconds. We decided he must have been killed quickly. We ran back to Lenka Stoutheart and after talking to her, went back to the wilderness. Killed a couple of Goblin Battlemasters and 2 hours later, Sir Hobble showed up on track. Unfortunately he needed a lot of protection and both of us became OOM and Hobble died. By this time we thought we'd med and log at the bridge. I checked the track while medding and Squire Fuzzmin was on it, so we followed the directions to the Paladin Guild. He was outside the temple walking backward and forwards. We were able to give him the other set of scales to get the second wurmslayer. It was in our own experience we found the following:
>>that Hobble does spawn at night
>>He spawned every 2 hours after the last sighting
>>We did not kill any Battlemasters prior to the first time he spawned.
>>Squire Fuzzmin never came out to the wilderness the 3rd time Hobble spawned.
Anyway this is our experience of hunting for Sir Hobble and Squire Fuzzmin and my ranger is the proud owner of a Wurmslayer :)
I found this part of the quest a pain and to think I have do it all again to help my partner obtain one for his warrior :(
Good luck all

WHY?
# Aug 14 2001 at 7:53 PM Rating: Default
WHY can't this quest just be like all the other quests where the NPC stands in one spot and there is ONE NPC involved. This is so annoying not being able to find stupid fuzzmin. my main is lvl 49 but is kos in FV, and my main alt is lvl 38 but is ALSO kos so i am using a lvl 19 warrior and he cant do squat against the mobs in there following them around... is there anywhere they walk like inside the outpost where i can catch them and turn in the things?
Time?

Think one other thing that needs to be said is that you need to do this during day light. He will not spawn at night, atleast as far as I can tell. Done the quest 4 times so far.
