No need to spend hours reading all the other posts about ppl saying what they think spawns her, just kill **** that moves and she will spawn.
I was killing everything at the undead camp looking for putrid rib bones. All of a sudden, I have Varsoon and Pyzjn on track. Dropped both and Varsoon spawns again before the Undying makes it out of the zone.
I think the lady spawns much more now, be it a faster spawn time or increased percentage chance or combo of the 2.
I have seen her a couple of times per night. Starting at 8pm game time to about 4am ish game time.
Well this morning, i logged on at 5pm game time and started looking for ph. I call placeholders are any mobs that stand on middle or path toward or away from middle of ruins. Usually these are bears, large rats, mangey rats, grey wolves or skellys.
After killing a few possible ph, bear popped middle of ruins. I waited till a bit after 7pm game time to kill him, hoping that next spawn of that mob would be after the 8pm that I have seen her spawn. I killed a couple more things heading to ruins and hit track couple of times... and pop pop... 2 pyzjn's on track, one with pet summoned and one not yet. I grab a SS of double pop and run kill one. hit track to get the other and pop a third Pyzjn popped. So on my track are 2 Pyzjn and 3 Pyzjn's pets, LOL. I took another SS. Went and killed another one and dragged the pets to guards.
Then I headed back for the third. Was crazy. Some old school caster would have messed his pants for that kind of action a couple of years ago... haha.
Saddly she didn't drop the stone, but was pretty cool none the less.
And other info:
Varsoon was nowhere in sight the last few days that I happened through.
One of the spawn points for Pyzjn was from ruins toward sfg, just over the hill but still in the rocky part in a little dip there... and another was just down hill from ruins on left, near where rats spawn. another was a bit out and to left, near the road and a bit south of straight out from ruins. And the middle of the ruins.
Those are where I have seen/tracked her to as she spawned.

I got her to spawn 9 times in 6 EQ nights. It was pretty easy... I logged everything about how she spawned, where, and when. If you want to see a little guide I wrote up, go to http://home.insightbb.com/~ocremix/pyzjn.txt and read up. I hope this helps you all out!

Very nice guide. Also agrees well with my own log. I camped her for several nights, killing her 14 times with following results:
- Every spawn was between 10pm and 4am
- Watched her spawn in front of me 4 times, always with pet already summoned.
- Dropped GBS 2 out of 14 times
- Spawned only 2 times directly at ruins
- One strange event, killed her on the hill next to ruins and she IMMEDIATELY respawned in middle of ruins. was getting hit by 2 Pyzjn Pets at the same time
- can't tell what her spawn relationship is to Varsoon. they may share a spawn point though he seems to spawn on other side of hill

Well, in spite of what the EQ folk told me at MacWorld Expo I finally encountered Pyzjn myself. She strolled into the ruins at 11:00pm and again, the same night, at 4:00am. While I can stretch circumstances to fit what I was told I am inclined to put more faith in the posts this is attached to.

her spawn does not appear to be on any timer. I was camping the ruins and she walked from the south to the center of ruins and stopped. that was 12AM game time. I killed her and a few minutes later she walked again from the south to center of ruins and stopped. that was 4AM game time. havent seen her since, but 2nd time had GBS which isnt worth crap these days anyway...

Which mobs are on her spawn table?! Are they just random numbered crap mobs like a_giant_rat_005 and others or are there certain nameds mobs that will spawn her? It's more than likely this is just another un true post about her spawn time but of it works i'd like to use it over and over.

Was reading through and seen some posts saying that Pyzjn has a 4 hour respawn time after her death.. This is not true! Killed Pyzjn and the second she died another spawned, neither dropped the GBS =( (she also spawned once or twice more that night) ..... same quick respawn happened with Varsoon.
Oh and yes clearing the center spawn is a must! I ran around the area killing most everything and when a skele popped in the center i killed it. Killing it seems to trigger a couple spawns behind the hill... pyzjn spawns. Of course she's random but if you get the hang of it you could probly get 4 or so pyz's a night.. if you're lucky.

35 Ranger killed her twice the other night. No GBS either time.
First spawn was at 7PM game time. Yes, 7PM I am positive of this as I checked /time immediately. Spawn spot was just south of the ruins (toward Blackburrow) on the same plateau the ruins are on, near a tree.
Second spawn was at 4AM game time. Not sure of the exact spot but it was over the hills to the west of the ruins. By the time I tracked her down she was almost to the top of the hill, heading toward the ruins.
Another strange one was that Varsoon popped a second time while Varsoon the Undying was still up from an earlier pop. While I was beating on the second Varsoon, his undead self starting pounding me and I had to run (but not until I killed Varsoon). The dagger he dropped sold for over a plat. Not magic, not lore, not rusty or tarnished... just "A dagger".

After spending uber amounts of time and guessing about this-spawn-technique-and-that and many many camp trips, here's the FACTS.
1) The placeholder IS the mob that sits at the end of the fallen column and it occasionally wanders off.
2) The "kill the placeholder at 4 PM plus several seconds" is the best method.
3) The GBS will be on Pyzjn as soon as she pops, if she has it.
4) It is a rare loot. No "for-sure" quest thread needs to be followed.
5) If the bear is wandering anywhere QH then it is the PH at the moment. (just a FYI)
5) She only spawns at game night time.
6) Killing any other mobs around the PH spot makes no difference for Pyzjn to spawn.
7) She may or may not de-spawn when she reaches the ruins.
8) Day PH's are: Rat, Wolf, Bear. Night PH's are Skelly, Putrid, Dreadcorpse, Pyzjn, Varsoon.
Finally got my GBS as a lvl 52 WIZ. Now... I dont care for it. Sure did want it bad when I started camping the ruins at lvl 20..... grin.

IT takes forever just to make her spawn and when you kill usually she doesn't drop the GBS

I know some of you are going to say this is BS, and if you want to go ahead..i could care less. I have camped Pyzjin many many times and she has always popped for me. I know she has atleast 7 spawn points(because my friends and myself have had her pop at 7 diff places in zone) they all end up at ruins.
To get her to spawn: If you camp ruins, you will notice that an animal of some sort will walk up and stop at the end of the fallen pillar. That is a PH. Leave this animal alone for atleast 4 hours Game Time, not RL, then kill it. In a few more hours, another animal will do same thing. Repeat process. Pyzjin will spawn AT the ruins sometime between 12am and 6am Game Time in place of the animal, as I said before, flame me as you will, but I have done this atleast 16 times and she has popped for me everytime, now, she hasnt dropped GBS everytime, but she does spawn.
I do not know if I am just lucky, or if that is actually how it works...but it does work. Try it before you flame me...Later!

You are correct. Pyzjin has many spawn points, most of which don't actually get her to the ruins because someone like Holly Windstalker or Niclauss Ressin does her in before she gets very far. Best place to catch her is at a spot between the Millers fire and the ruins. It is a flat, rocky area on the Surefall side of a small hill. If you get her as soon as she pops, you won't have a pet to deal with and she'll be unbuffed. There is a diseased rat as her placeholder here.
You CAN get her to pop by allowing Tovax Vmar to drop a note to her at the ruins and ALLOW TOVAX TO DESPAWN ON HIS OWN! Tovax MUST be allowed to despawn which doesn't happen often because of all the people he terrorized as newbs coming back to QH looking for revenge. A little while after Pyzjn picks up the note, Varsoon will spawn and they go through a little soap opera about how Varsoon loves Pyzjn and he even pulls out his own heart and offers it to her before becoming Varsoon the Undying. BTW make sure that you keep all the restless skeletons killed so that they dont run off from the ruins, and leave the bodies where they lay when you kill them. only kill the restless skellies, leave the putrids and dreads alone, unless it is in the center cuz then it is a PH. Kill all center PHs as soon as they stop in the center and leave their bodies alone. again DO NOT loot them. it helps to have invisibility vs undead to drop the human blood in the center without disturbing the putrids and dreads.

This is a method that has worked for me 6 times in a row. Im not entirely sure that i haven't just been lucky, but here goes.
1.) this takes cooperation from everyone in the zone( meaning that noone comes to the ruins and drags off the mobs).
2.) Kill Tovax and take the vial of human blood to the ruins and drop it on the fallen pillar in the center of the ruins at 10pm.
3.) keep the center free of mobs until 3 am and she should spawn by 4am.
It worked for me, let me know if it works for you.

Been camping her for a few days now just out of boredom, but let me give you the facts on this spawn that i know of.
1) She does NOT spawn in the ruins, that is true. She spawns southwest of the ruins it appears, on the hills near the ruins. I say this becuase this is the direction from which she is walking, before she stops at the ruins.
2) I have done this camp before, and have been trying to figure out some kind of pattern, one nite killing everything in the camp, another killing all the undead, and another killing all the animals that stray into the ruins. NONE of these tactics spawned Pyzjn. All 3 nites she didnt spawn at all by doing the 3 things just mentioned.
This would make me think she has a PH not in the camp, or is completely random. This is on innoruuk server, and anyone with a discrepency to the little i have stated is jerkin your chain.

I tried this a while back, and it seemed to work:
Use a character who can track and follow Tovax around (unless you're lucky enough to see him walking around right after you zone in from Qeynos, like I was), staying out of his aggro range. (Cancel any speed buffs you have, and dismount if you're using a horse; you'll be moving faster than you need to be, since Tovax walks instead of running) He eventually stops walking then pauses for about a minute or so, then starts walking again. (When I followed him,he stopped a tree just up the hill from the house with the 2 guards outside, then at another tree about halfway to the guard tower)
Eventually he will stop and pause, but will run off instead of walking away. Instead of following him, look at the stop he was standing at when this happens. He will have dropped something (a note meant for Pyzjn; DO NOT pick it).
The time I did this, he walked through the gully, but did not head for the ruins. Instead, he walked to a tree next to the road and about the same distance from the Miller's campfire that the campfire is from the entrance to Surefall. But I have seen him drop the note at the ruins before.
Within a few minutes of Tovax dropping the note and running away, Pyzjn will spawn and head for the spot where the note is (I think the note disappeared before the spawned when I did this, but she still showed up).
So keeping Tovax alive (at least until he drops the note) is a must.
(Incidentally, I blasted Pyzjn as soon as I saw her. No GBS. =( )
As for me, I'm not camping for the GBS anymore. I bought one in the Bazaar a few days ago for a price that makes me wonder if the seller mispriced it or was just in a hurry to sell.
Good luck getting the GBS.
P.S. You might want to kill her after she walks away from the ruins, because everytime I've killed her has been while she was either at the ruins or while on her way to the ruins after spawning, and she never dropped the GBS any of those times. I may have been killing her too early. =(
(And if anyone on The Rathe server tries this, please give a tell to either Zyrtryx or Briarthornn (both me) and let me know if it works)

I know you guys have heard this before, but after testing all those other guides and a few ones of my own, I think I have the "Ultimate Guide to Pyzjn" tm. In only 3 simple steps:
1. Strip yourself of all clothes and items and run 3 laps around QH /shout'ing: "I'm a pretty lady" (works on female and male characters).
2. Stand in the middle of the ruins, duck and /em *fart* 57 times.
3. * Now this step is a lot more elaborated, and franqly I think I should get paid for it. So e-mail me and we'll arrange a payment of $29.95 to my account and I'll e-mail you back the last step to this guide!

I've been trying to camp for the GBS again.
Last week after I got a port to Surefall Glade from a Druid in my guild (to go buy Cheese in Jaggedpine (I'm almost a Grandmaster Baker (skill is 187 right now)), I decided to camp the ruins for a while.
I about had a heart attack when Pyzjn walked up to the ruins while I was medding after clearing out the skeletons. (This is about 1 or 2am game-time; I've only been there since around 9pm) I send in my Earth pet and let him take out both her and her wimp pet. No GBS. I medded up, went to Jaggedpine and bought the cheese, went back to Surefall Glade, then Gated out to go work on Baking and to check the Bazaar. (I don't like to Gate in Jaggedpine unless absolutely necessary; It takes me longer to zone when Gating out of it and most of the Luclin zones I've been to)
I try it again a couple of days (real-time days, not game-time) later. Tovax walks up to the ruins, and I blast him to oblivion. Later that night, I ended up with Vashoon instead of Pyzjn. Owned him easily in his human form, then got owned when the Undying version popped. Got an interrupt while casting, even though I wasn't hit and was completely still, then got hit with Screaming Terror and Fear. I made it halfway to the Miller's campfire before dying. I would have killed him if the spell hadn't interrupted, as my Earth pet beating on him (before he killed it)and a couple of Blazes had him down to about 1/4 life.
I also forgot to properly buff my pet, since I wasn't expecting Vashoon. Pet has Burnout II only, no summoned weapons or Phantom Chain. I also forgot to cast dmg shields on myself and the pet....
Unfortunately, I forgot to bind myself, so I had to go from the Nexus to PoK to Qeynos to Qeynos Hills to recover my corpse. A few days later, I'm in the area again, having taken the Qeynos portal from the Plane of Knowledge to go meet up with a Ranger in my guild to go hunt in Jaggedpine. On a whim, I check the ruins, and about have a heart attack when I notice Pyzjn just standing there, with no one beating on her!
I take out Pyzjn with one Blaze, and let my pet take hers out. Go to loot her corpse, and....you guessed it: NO GBS!
Camped the ruins for two game-days last night. Pyzjn didn't pop either day.
Next time, I'm going to go sit down in the gully and blast away at undead from there; maybe there's a better chance of her having the GBS on her if she doesn't make it to the ruins....
If I could afford to buy a GBS, I would, but I've been camping in Dawnshroud, where the loot sucks, and spending plat on Research and raising my Baking skill.
I am sick of Qeynos Hills, and if I finally do get the GBS, no one will ever be able to pay me enough to get me to go to that zone again!
I've probably invested between fifteen to seventeen real life hours in camping for the Glowing Black Stone since I started playing EverQuest (mostly with my Human Necro, who I deleted recently). Out of that time, I've had Pyzjn pop a total of 4 times (yes, she only popped ONCE while camping with my Necro), and no blasted GBS any of those times.
As far as I can tell, there is NO definitive guide to camping Pyzjn. I've seen tons of information on how to camp Pyzjn posted here and at a couple of other sites, and as far as I can tell (from experimenting myself and from talking to people I trust who have tried to camp for it in the past), they are ALL crapola.
I'm on The Rathe. If you enter Qeynos Hills and see me (Zyrtryx Conjureblade) in the zone, don't even bother asking if I'm camping for the GBS, because the answer will be `No, I'm not camping for the GBS....I'm going insane TRYING to get a blasted GBS!'
The GBS or a straight-jacket....I'm gettin' one or the other by Christmas!

Last week after I got a port to Surefall Glade from a Druid in my guild (to go buy Cheese in Jaggedpine (I'm almost a Grandmaster Baker (skill is 187 right now)), I decided to camp the ruins for a while.
I about had a heart attack when Pyzjn walked up to the ruins while I was medding after clearing out the skeletons. (This is about 1 or 2am game-time; I've only been there since around 9pm) I send in my Earth pet and let him take out both her and her wimp pet. No GBS. I medded up, went to Jaggedpine and bought the cheese, went back to Surefall Glade, then Gated out to go work on Baking and to check the Bazaar. (I don't like to Gate in Jaggedpine unless absolutely necessary; It takes me longer to zone when Gating out of it and most of the Luclin zones I've been to)
I try it again a couple of days (real-time days, not game-time) later. Tovax walks up to the ruins, and I blast him to oblivion. Later that night, I ended up with Vashoon instead of Pyzjn. Owned him easily in his human form, then got owned when the Undying version popped. Got an interrupt while casting, even though I wasn't hit and was completely still, then got hit with Screaming Terror and Fear. I made it halfway to the Miller's campfire before dying. I would have killed him if the spell hadn't interrupted, as my Earth pet beating on him (before he killed it)and a couple of Blazes had him down to about 1/4 life.
I also forgot to properly buff my pet, since I wasn't expecting Vashoon. Pet has Burnout II only, no summoned weapons or Phantom Chain. I also forgot to cast dmg shields on myself and the pet....
Unfortunately, I forgot to bind myself, so I had to go from the Nexus to PoK to Qeynos to Qeynos Hills to recover my corpse. First, congrats on almost reaching the GM skill in baking.
I (35th level ranger) went to the ruins the other day, and sat and waited for her. Some people say there is a PH, but no one really knows exaclty which one it is. So, I kill everything that is around the ruins, and walks through the ruins, just in case. I pick up 4 stacks of bone chips doing this. The only thing that I know for sure is that she will only spawn during the EQ night (10pm to 6am). One night goes by, and no spawn. I decided to wait another night, and then leave. So, I wait all day, killing the skellys as they spawn. Finally, night arrives, and I'm still killing the skellys, and checking track. I refresh the track and voila, there she is. I get so excited that I forget what to do next. After a few seconds, I realize that since I am a ranger, and I do have her on track, I could track her and go to where she is. She spawned on the second hill, I guess that would be south of the ruins (but she didn't make it to the ruins.) She's an easy kill, as is her pet. Now, the moment of truth. I loot the pet, and he doesn't have much. Now I'm standing there, with Pyzjn, dead, at my feet, waiting to loot her. I cross my fingers, and loot her, and what do you know, she had it!! So now I have this stone, and try to do what probably everyone else wants to do with it. /join market. /PC on GBS. "about 2K" /1 thanks. /1 WTS GBS 2K. It took 2 days, but I finally sold it, and got the full 2K for it.
As for DawnShroud, if you camp the hoppers, and get the flawless or perfect hides, they each sell for about 100pp, so you can make some good money there. Also, you could go to Rathe, and do the HGs, which are also good money.

As a follow-up to my original post.....
I camped Pyzjn off and on for a while after my original post, and she popped three more times (and, no GBS any of them.....DAMMIT!). Someone told me that she stands there for a few minutes, then walks off toward Blackburrow. I was going to wait about three minutes before nuking her to see if she did this or just continued to stand there, but two people ran up, who I later found out were looking for Putrid Rib Bones, so I blasted her because I thought they might be trying to killsteal (they ran up to Pyzjn when they appeared, not me).
Since then, I have not been able to get Pyzjn to spawn again at all! I have not changed my tactics in the slightest, so I can't understand why she hasn't spawned for me. (This past Tuedsay was the last time she spawned; I haven't camped her at all since Saturday)
What really ticks me off is several people telling me that they've gotten the GBS off of her the first time they've ever killed her, or have gotten it multiple times and sold it. I don't begrudge anyone that has had this kind of luck, but I'm completely sick of hearing it.
This next part is for anyone on my server (The Rathe) who reads this:
I'm not in some `uber-guild' that raids planes and kills deities and dragons on a weekly basis, with more plat flowing that Bill Gates has dollars, or I'd beg for or borrow the cash to buy a GBS, or ask someone to get one for me. I've had several people tell me that they get Glowing Black Stones for members of their guilds occasionally. BIG FRICKIN' DEAL! If you've talked to me about it a lot and say that, and you're not willing to help me out, knowing how bad I want one, then shut the hell up! You probably don't mean to, but you're just making me resent you. Keep that in mind whenever you talk to ANYONE camping Pyzjn, because it sort of sounds like bragging or taunting.
Someone also told me that they camped her and killed her multiple times before getting a GBS, and that it added up to 72 hours of time. That is insane! There is NOTHING worth wasting that amount of time to camp, except possibly for epic and some post-epic mobs. And even those, I'd have my doubts about.
And I wanted a Glowing Black Stone to actually use, not sell.
I was planning on taking a break from camping Pyzjn while working on tradeskills and levelling some, then going back for another week-long (RL week, not an in-game week; I refuse to camp for more than 3 game-days at a time) marathon session of camping the ruins, but I thought about it and decided the hell with it. Instead, I bought a Spirit Tome from a Druid in my guild and replaced my Black Tome with Silver Runes with it. I'm going to go camp Pyzjn one more time sometime this week, for another 3 game days. After that, I MAY go back one last time when the in-game date is close to Halloween, since that's when Varsoon is supposed to spawn, and fight him once or twice (for revenge), but that's it. I hate that zone with a vengeance. If Pyzjn doesn't pop at all, or doesn't drop the GBS if she does pop, then ***** the entire zone, as far as I'm concerned.
If the GBS doesn't drop for me, I'll wait and make up the 3 Int points difference between the book and that accursed stone from Hell somehow.
I was considering going to blast Hadden, loot the Fishbone Earring if he drops it, sell it, and buy a Glowing Black Stone with some of the platinum, but he's camped `round the clock, almost always with someone waiting to take the spot if the person camping gets the Fishbone Earring.
I have lost out on a GBS in Qeynos Hills twice: Once a high lvl Druid KSed Pyzjn (I was sitting at the ruins; he blasted her before she got there, knowing that I was camping her) and she dropped it. The jerk apologized, but kept the stone and gated. Wasn't in a guild, or I would have had a talk with his guildleader. This was back when I was using my Necro (the one I've since deleted), and camped Pyzjn for five straight gamedays (the KS was done on the fourth gameday; I was too ticked off to concentrate properly on the fifth gameday, and probably should have quit right after the theft happened), the only time I've ever done this. I never saw him again, so I assume he either quit EQ or got banned. The other time, someone did an auction, wanting 250pp for it, once while I was walking around Qeynos Hills killing Gnolls with my Halfling Ranger. It turned out that this person didn't know what the GBS was worth, and I set them straight (I had enough money at the time, but I don't believe in ripping off someone because they're naive, and there was a Shaman there who was going to). But not being able to get the GBS is eating me up inside, and I sort of wish I HAD ripped them off. I guess I'm just too danged moral for my own good. :(

Just that, I zoned in and saw someone training her, 2 putrid skeles, and a dread corpse to the guards at SFG entrance. I killed the 3 skeles first, watched the guy die, then killed her. She dropped it. I also agree that no one should ever try to camp this, just let it happen.
And then again, .... A 53 ranger and I (56 Mage) decided we would farm this. We got her to spawn three more times with no luck.
We used the simple way to make her spawn, the Mage killed everything at or near the ruins, the ranger killed every undead walking in the northern half of the zone, and she spawned once one night, twice the other night. But with no drops, we quit trying to farm this. I am back to the idea that this shouldn't try to be camped.

Zoned into Qeynos Hills around 5am (game time) and found her on track walking east towards the ruins (she was due west of the ruins, heading towards them). Only the second time in the past year that I've seen her (first time she was south of the ruins, walking north towards the ruins).

You're better off buying one from whichever lucky ******* in the Bazaar is selling one.
Camping Pyzjn isn't worth the trouble unless you can use Tracking. Meaning if you're not a Ranger, Druid or Bard.....don't bother.
The problem is location. She can pop in one of at least ten different places, so if you're sitting at the ruins and she pops, chances are a Druid or Ranger is going to kill her before she even gets near the ruins.
I camped the ruins with my lvl 20 Necromancer for 3 days (spending about five hours there each day). During that time she popped ONCE. Took her and her pet down fast, but no GBS. :(

Im a 13 necro took her out yesterday on Bertx. Started camp at 9am and just killed everything that ever came close to the ruins. Pyzin does not actually spawn IN the ruin..when she popped up she walked over the hill and stops in the middle of the ruins. Her place holder could have been anything, so just kill everything that walks into that area . She walked up to the ruins at 1:20pm (4 hours 20 min camptime)
Once she died I quickly looted the glowing black stone off her before her pet beat me to a pulp (the pet stays alive after shes dead). Ive heard stories of people camping her for long periods of time...this was my first camp so just take my advice and kill everything you see around the ruins it seems to work. The stone makes your hand glow red incase you didn't know what it looks like

Morning all just thought I'd try to help you guys out a little bit. One thing I hate about these places is the useless info and crap that people throw in. So heres some real info you can use , I play on Vallon Zek back in the day GBS used to go for 20k I camped her for 2 weeks straight and got 8 of them and sold them all. Now adays lucky to get 5k for em here.
Anyhow from what I have seen you need to keep the center spot of the ruins clear can tell where it is because theres a fallen pillar almost like an arrow pointing at it. Py will spawn anytime between 10pm to 6am eq time as long as you keep the ph spot clear if it is occupied by rat/wolf/skel/bear she will not pop.
Py spawns in random areas at least 8 to 10 that I know of 3 or 4 of them near ruins rest on other side of the big hill there towards the road.
To better your chances you better be playing a Ranger , Bard or Druid tracking is definately to your benefit in this case.One thing to note is that pyjzn is kos to all the guards and wandering npc's thats why tracking is so important because she can spawn and wander into the npc's and you would never know.

Appologies for posting the same ting 3 times. Doing this at work and had problems with the firewall. Ah well never mind :-)
