Vexven Mucktail  

This is the last one i need for the zone. I have seen Grenix Mucktail 4 times so far. EDIT: I have been checking on and off for the past few months. Decided to actively camp him again and he finally spawned. I didn't bother with every gnoll spawn. It was just the 2 and sometimes 2 roamers across from the 2 guards.

was sitting in ek the other night foraging some tea leaves with my druid and knowing that there are some missing pics, i loaded up my harddrive with screenshots. i have several pics of mobs not presently posted here. how do i submit please?

Vexven doesn't drop the PGT (polished granite tomahawk), just the CDS (cracked darkwood shield).

GRENIX Mucktail drops the PGT. So among other things, the guy who claims both dropped on one kill is obviously wrong.

Both of these guys are random spawns, and the only way to spawn them is to slaughter the other gnolls.

Similarly, on the orc side, there are 3 different named shralok orcs, one drops the shralok pack, one drops shiny brass idol, and one drops the shiny brass halberd.

They ONLY drop the one item, they DO NOT drop the other guys loot.

Not sure if it was posted or not, (most posts are too long to read), but Vexven that spawns in EK DOES NOT drop the shield. You need to see Vexven in Highpass for that item.

I was with another person 2 levels above me who was soloing gnolls waiting for vexen to spawn. I mentioned that I was interested in a PGT; he wanted the cracked darkwood shield. He said he would give me a PGT if I tracked Vexen. We were up on the ledge; I was scanning track: no named were up. Below me was the message, 'Vexen Mucktail begins to cast a spell..' Double checked track again: no Vexen! Told my partner and we went further up the ledge and ran into vexen and two other gnolls. I took on the two lesser, he took on Vexen. The fight was somewhat close, but we got them. Vexen had the cds that time! My partner took me back to the bank and gave me a PGT. Nice bit of cooperation, with both of us coming out ahead! It pays to work something out!

You spawn this gnoll by letting the gnolls kill a highhold pass citezen in front of the bridge which the captain for the gnolls ahng out.If YOU kill the citezen you'll get BAD faction with the citezens of highhold and won't be able to sell so let the gnolls kill him and go up to vex's spawn spot and he'll come along.

Ok here is my view and what I found. First of all I camped this place for week straight in the evenings until I decided to take 2 days off from work and camp it all day. In this time I yielded 6 PGT's and 3 CDS's. Because they are lore I sold all the other's save 2 or let them rot. I believe that they spawn every half hour. That spawn can be either a Champion, Vexven, Grenix, or just a Flamepaw. Also All but the named Gnolls can spawn randomly at any time. There seemed to be no pattern of this. I believe that there is a 75% chance that a named gnoll will NOT spawn and then a 20% chance if it is, that it will be Vexven. One night Grenix spawned 4 straight times. It seemed that Vexven would only spawn during the day, but again that could just be the odds playing out. Here are the spawn times (EST) from my 2 days of camping just so you can gauge: Day 1: 9:20AM Grenix, 11:50AM Grenix, 12:46PM Vexven, 14:20 Grenix. Day 2: 8:23 Grenix, 8:55 Grenix, 12:00 Grenix, 2:03 Vexven, 5:11 Grenix. Hope this helps, Pretty much a guarentee that you will get a PGT if you camp 4 hours during the day, CDS much harder to get.

Can someone please clear this up for me? Some posts below say that he is a timed spawn. Others say he is linked to his twin in EK. I've been camping Gnolls almost every night this week and have yet to see him spawn. The other named gnoll has spawned once or twice a night and always drops the PGT. I really want this shield but am getting frustrated. If someone can please help, I'd really appreciate it. Also, can someone please recomend a different shield that is good for an 18-19lvl Druid and is campable at that level? Thanks much!

I was in EK with my druid, playing with Broon, when Vexven came running by and, since I hate gnolls, I popped his ***. I was lvl 25 at the time, and he was an easy kite and died nicely. However, all he had on him was some loose change. So, is he an ultra rare spawn with a rare drop, as well? I want one of these for my lower level warrior.

this is the worst camp i have ever done, i sat there for 9 hours and nothing not one pgt or vexxen, i really support that if u want to do this camp don't it is not worth it at all

You don't HAVE to kill either of them in EK. All you have to do is camp for them in HP. Grenix seems to spawn a lot more frequently than Vexven. I was logged on early in the morning with a friend and he and I were the only ones in the zone. After about 1/2 hour Vexven poped and I got my shield (which was the whole reason for going up there) and within the next two hours we got two PGT's and an hour later my husband got a PGT.

I was there some time ago with my son's rogue and Vexven spawned, again early in the morning - about 8-9 AM EST, and I killed Vexven so that my son could pick up the shield. I had only been in HP for like 15 mins when he spawned that time.

Maybe Vexven likes me?

I have noticed that the spawn times and locations are semi-random, often Grenix will spawn on the little hump between the two parts of the ledge and Vexven will spawn on the little rock that juts out from the ledge. I have seen grenix pop on the jut but never seen Vexven spawn on the hump. Grenix seems to have a 2-4 hour spawn while vexven goes anywhere from 2 to 8 hours. As an aside and to continue the discussion of etiquette while camping, and yes I believe you can camp these guys, I was sitting on ledge after having recently killed grenix and I noticed the orc population was steadily rising and a named was up, Vopuk, so I went over and saw a bunch of Bodies and a few orcs at the zone line. I figured Vopuk and his buddies had slaughtered the group so I killed him. Some of the group promptly zones back in after a lull and immediatly starts shouting at me...I saw myself as entitled being as they weren't in the zone. On the way back to the ledge I find a DE warrior fighting Vexven, yes 3 named spawned in under 15 mins, Vexven is beating her snotless. At first is think "hmmm...I could see if she has to run and then kill him" but being a nice guy this thought only lasted a second and I healed her and helped her get the kill.
