I have heard that this bear may be a PH for the lich which i need for my epic.
There are 2 roamers which may be bear, lich, or ice skelly.
I had some difficulty finding this bear. I posted my young ranger in the cave to check track once in a while for the lich. No sense getting a raid force up if the mob hasn't popped. The last couple days the bear was on track but not the lich. So i went in with my pally to take out the bear and help the rare pop along. I could not find the bear anywhere. I found and killed one roaming ice bone and killed the static ice bones. but no bear.
I logged the ranger back on and moved around with track on the bear. It led me to the back corridor and pointed me to a wall. i triangulated some and concluded that the bear was inside a wall. Strange!
Log pally back on and run along the walls seeking a secret door that maybe didn't make the map. Suddenly I'm mauled by teddy poking halfway thru the wall and a short fight later i have a new bear rug.
I examined the wall where he had been and no secret door revealed itself. The area shows as a large area of solid rock. So if he's supposed to be a roamer and is stuck inside a rock it's a bit hard to find him. If he hadn't attacked me i'd still be looking.

definately not a PH for Lich. I was wandering around caves taking a break from mauling Ice Giants and went down here to see if Glacier Bear was up, since I never saw him 6 years ago while desperately trying to complete my Totemic set for my Shaman. Ran into Lich, conned him as Dark Blue to my level 49 self and proceeded to attack, well, for kicks. Couldn't make much of a dent in him, so started to boogie out. Was aggroed by my elusive friend the Glacier Bear, who is purty darn fast, could not lose him in water with 150ish swim and SoW.

If you have the time this is a quick camp. I ran in with a druid friend around 4pm today PST. Ran in, she tracked, no glacier bear. So we layed waste to all the skellies in the cave. Came back at midnight (8 hours later) and sure enough there was the glacier bear. Running around.

Eqshaman.com has an excellent map to show the bears pathing. Check it out.

I killed the 2 ph about 7pm ish and checked back by 2 checked track wasn't up went around to go kill the ph again, walkd around the corner and there was the bear. Being a 52 druid it took about 2 nukes and its was dead. Dropped a ruined bear pelt and of course the pelt i was after the glacier bear pelt :)

O.k. I've read all of the responses to attempting to get this bear to pop and decided to try it. So far i've figured out yes there are 2 roaming skelies one is near the entrance or has been the 2 times i've killed it. The second one is near Sulon McMoor but i've only seen it once i guess someone else killed it. The rest of the skeletons, the 2 in the broken teleporter room just sit there and repop in about 5 minutes. And finally the last 3 are in the building with the Rod they also will repop in 5 minutes so i'm guessing there is no reason to kill them. Just killed the 2 roamers not to long ago and will post the results tomorrow or whenever i check back here. Also, at http://www.eqatlas.com/everfrostcavvesmap.html there is an excellent map of the caves.

Found the caves by mistake whilst swimming down the wrong leg of the river. Had a little wander around saw this guy after about 1 minute, conned blue but didnt want to try my luck without a pet. I kept wandering and soon realized i was a little lost and ran into this guy again. Since I was commited to having to gate out anyway I put out a pet and took him on. Piece of cake. Pet hammered him to half death quickly and I had no trouble finishing him off. Pet at 80% health myself at full health with 70 mana. He only dropped the Glaciel Skin.

You have to swim up the river under the ice to get to the caves. Good swimming skill is helpful. I believe it is the west fork of the north part of river. You can see the tunnel from the top so plan your path from top of ice.

okies, there is also part of pally quest down here so at lvl 48 (pally ) I went down there without map, figuring it'll be a piece of cake. Well, I walked around aimlessly, saw the high necro..red at lvl 48 and yes very ready to attack high elf, turned and there is the bear, whoopsie no big deal the kill, two ruined skins/pelts/fur and one no drop pelt. Thought oh thats neat kept wandering around, see lich con dark blue, yes I should have known better any dark blue at my lvl is likely to cause trouble to soloing non tweaked pally. Rodcet nife and undead spells barely bothered this Skellie, don't think of him as a normal skellie:) I sort of scratched him a wee bit when I went for LOH, the mob fears, hits with up to? 160-ish nukes, and physical hits in the 80's 90's , static? no idea but this skellie is dangerous. How I got out? Rooted him and ran :) Luckily he didn't resist my root.

And I haven't found my bone yet:)

Lucky me, first time I ever went into the hidden cave, and the bear was up. I solo'd him at lvl 30 about an hour and a half ago (conned blue, must be around lvl 25-27, not 29-30). He dropped a ruined bear pelt, a chunk of meat, a pearl earring, Ingot of the Devout, and Glacier Bear pelt. The last two are NO DROP. I guess I spent too much time taking screenies of him, because just a few seconds after I looted his corpse, the Lich of Miragul sneaked up behind me and killed me fast... very fast. =)

As amusing as these tales may be, it would certainly help people more if any of them were true. I'm guessing that when you say "wandering" you mean posing symmetrically and absolutely immobile in perfect formation (some in broken teleport room, the others far in the back corner in a little pagoda). Because *THAT* is what ice boned skeletons in this cave do. I have also made distinct note that people describe (see Lich info) the Lich as a static mob, which in this case, and no other case known to man, means he wanders *constantly*. After having died twice due to the bogus information here and on the Lich info page of this site, we simply left. Screw the POS helm, and don't post misinformation, uselesses.

to tell you the truth bro, he is a long spawn, and there are two wandering, as i said two wandering icebone skellys, i camped here several times, and have killed them, the bear could be an 16hr spawn---- have to kill the wandering first, then in about 6 to 7 hrs, the wanders respawn, kill them, and about 30min, the bear should spawn, but not always, the ibs may spawn again, and then you have to kill them again. i camped him and got him. i believe this is not usless info, and i hope i have summed it up for some of the patient shammys getting the helm, just keep checking brave ones. :)

just a note: watch out for lich, he is very mean

hey brave ones of eq, camped this guy for 7 days. a friend of mine was killing the ph (ib'S) every morning, and 7 hrs later would wait for him to spawn. with no luck, got up early one morning, and killed the wandering ph's, came back six hours later, in which the ph's spawned about 7 hours, and killed them again. waited two hours with no spawn. group with a lvl 52 cavalier, and sat here for 7 more hours, and hit sense animals, BOOM, glacier bear, i started shaking, as he pulled the bear, and was being hit by an ib at the same time. bear didn't even hit the cavalier, and he let me loot the pelt. NOTE: very long spawn, and you have to kill the wandering ib's, that what triggers the bear. good luck.

ohh yea, thanks again to the guy who help me.

Soloing the bear as a shaman
# Feb 20 2002 at 8:03 PM Rating: Default
I solo'd him at 36 with no problem. In hindsight, I bet, I could have solo'd him much sooner had I spotted him earlier in my seasons.
How I did it might easily apply to younger adventurers. Though you must be wary not to run into the lich. Study the map... know where the lich is, he is static so avoid that room. Clear out prior the Ice bones you might run into... although I didn't do this when I vanquished the bear... but might be a good idea.

Find the bear and DOT him.... run, stop when u are out of casting range, DOT again with different Dot.... repeat for each DOT or when DOT times out.

I have spent the last 3 days religiously timing and clearing the wandering iced bones. I have killed 9 consecutive sets of PH's and have yet to see a bear. I show up 30 minutes before they are due to spawn and stay 30 minuntes after, casting sense animal the whole time. I've finally become fed up with this and have petitioned. I'm thinking his spawn must be broken on solosek ro or something. approx 65 hours camping for an item that merely decent is ridiculous.

Kinda of neat, that you can still talk ooc and stuff in Everfrost. I thought it was a different zone. It was a great exp. I swam all the way back to the hole without EB with a 71 swim skill. Well I can confirm 2 bears can spawn...finally got the guts to try this at lvl 39. Went in used Vision on The Lich from the Teleporter room to watch when he was furthest away. Killed the 2 Ice bone Skelly's and camped there. Got on 7 hours later and cast Sense animal and bingo, see the bear. Found him walking around a corner toward me and cast my dots. 2 seconds later I see another one coming at me to help his buddy. Root. Fall back. Kill. Loot. Stand up and POW. Lich got me. So on my way back I grab a lvl 18 Shaman and helped him get a pelt too after my corpse run. He didn't even know what the Totemic Helm was. Hope he enjoys it when he can complete the quest.

Alright, i camped the bear all weekend!! I killed 9 pairs of wandering icebones and did not see the bear!! If you are killing the two wandering skelies you are doing nothing, just really bad luck. I was lucky, and for me he spawned nearly everytime for 7 times. Never got the item i needed though...(but he always drops the shaman quest pelt.)

# Nov 03 2001 at 6:11 PM Rating: Default
Ok...if you have an alt to play that is good...i just simply went to caves and checked out to see if he was up. if not i killed his PHs (ice bone skeletons the wandering ones and there is two of them, MAKE SURE SURE YOU KILL 'EM BOTH)then went on alt for 6 hours because the spawn is 6-8 hours. Then once the 6 hours up i went to see if he was up then wait for 2 hours. Then within that time he poped and got the pelt!!!
How i killed the bear. I just sicked my pet in with a regen and doted him while meddin..once pet was dead i just kept him rooted and watched him die with dot (REMEMBER HE IS 100% immune to cold spells)and watch yer back for Lich...he'll fear you and then yer pretty much screwed. He droped the pelt the first time i tried.

Clarifications
# Aug 28 2001 at 8:04 AM Rating: Excellent
I would like to make sure of some things:
I understand that,

1-The Lich or its PH(s) roams the longest path around, COUNTER CLOCKWISE.

2-The Glacier Bear or its PH(s) roams the same path as the Lich, but CLOCKWISE, with a spawn time of 6:45 minutes or so.

3-The Glacier Bear or its PH(s) spawn in the room where Sulon McMoor stands, so waiting by McMoor would ensure that we could see the Bear or its PH when it spawns.

4-A lvl 29 cleric (what i am) could solo the Bear, using Root/Instill and Wrath (195dmg or so Magic based DD).

Could someone confirm this? if this is all true, one could kill the cloakwise roaming PH, camp by Sulon McMoor, and log back 6:40 minutes later and catch the next spawn, Bear or PH. And repeat until the item is found. Could it be?

Please confirm or unconfirm any of these facts if you know.

I found him twice the day after my last post. It seems he stops at the point(s), explaining why he takes so long to get to the entrance ( someone said 25 minutes).

Both times he dropped the Pelt, not once the Icon(or Ingot?). I just hope it is not rare.

32 Druid got it!!!
# Jul 25 2001 at 3:14 PM Rating: Default
I got this for my Shaman Alternate Character today. Here's how I got the Bear. I bound my Druid by the tunnel entrance and then killed the wandering Ice Bone PH's. I left then and did some other hunting by porting out of the cave. Over a week and a half period I gated back to the cave to check if the bear was up. I also checked to see if wandering Icebones were up. Always there were wandering IB's, so I killed them again. I stayed at the entrance, and nailed the IB's as they walked past there. You can see the Lich walk by from there too, so its a safe spot. Somewhere someone said the bear is a 8 hour spawn, and to check back 8 hours after killing an IB. THIS IS WRONG! You need to get back into the cave to check on the bear because he spawns from 61/2 to 81/2 hours after the PH's are killed. Waiting 8 hours is the reason so many people say they just went to the cave and found the bear. Or that they were hunting mammoths and a Ranger buddy saw the bear on track so they went down and got it. Some poor smuck killed the Icebones and then logged on 8 hours later to find nothing, because the Bear had already been killed. My Bear spawned 7 hours after I killed the IB's. I stood at the entrance to wait for him, and it took 25 minutes for the bear to work its way through its route to where I was waiting. Twenty minutes into my wait a Frigging Ranger and his Shaman buddy show up, run past me and start scouting the caves. I stayed put close enought to the first intersection where I could see anything walking past east to west in the first intrsection from the entrance of the tunnels. The Ranger didn't find the bear, Cause I saw it walk through the intersection from a clockwise direction. I ran up to the intersection, snared the bear and kited up and down the tunnel from the Intersection to the Ice Goblin Diver near the water. It took I beleive ( I lost count) five Combusts and a Creeping Crud. The Bear took max damage (180) on every cast of Combust but for one cast where it did 65 damage. I had 4 bubbles of health left and 1 bubble of manna. I seriously think I may have quit the game if the Ranger had got my bear, and I have to say to him is: kill some PH's you lazy KSer. Hope this helps everyone who going to attemp this very boring and stupid quest.

i soloed the bear with my ogre shamen at level 30 not dangerofdyeing butused all my mana to drop it.

Debuffed rooted lower disease resist pile disease dots 2 poison dot 1 and med root broke re root and poison storm. Raplied dotsas needed.

I agree it is 6 to 8 for the repop however the bear isnt always going to repop after the ph are killed the 2ph can andrequently will repop and have to be killed again. My first shamen i killed ph 2 times this shamen ikilled ph 4 times.

And just so you know its only ks if you engage the mob before them. If you needed the bear so bad you should have ran in and chased it down instead of sitting at the ent. Or better yet gotten the bear with your shamen and not your druid so your shamen could equip himself.

So if they would have gotten the bear first it would not have been ks as long as they engaged the bear before you. and then you could have left the game and their would be one less druid.

RE: 32 Druid got it!!!
# Aug 02 2001 at 3:55 PM Rating: Default
My point was that the Ranger and Shaman should have been down there killing PH's if they wanted the bear so bad. It is difficult to trigger the spawn , and there is a difference between the mechanics of a KS, ( as in who engaged it first) , and the spirit of of a KS, ( as in run past someone who triggered the spawn to see if you get it first). There is no doubt in my mind I would have unloaded Combust on the bear while the Ranger was swinging his swords and the Shaman was dotting. It would have been my bear, either way, and let the chips fall where they may.

One last thing. The bear walked in a counter - clockwise direction through the 1st intersection of the caves from the entrance by the water. And to prevent a contested spawn you really should move up to the broken teleporter room and pull the Bear into there.I was facing North, and I had the Bear on track from the entrance. The Bear, after spawning in Sullons Room, moved from ahead and to the left, to straight ahead, to ahead and to the right. So the first place he goes after leaving Sullons Room is either right past the Broken Tele Room or close to it. If you wait at the entrance like I did it takes the Bear 25 minutes of walking around before he will get to you. 25 minutes in which anyone can enter the caves and claim the bear.
Shaman Strategy for Glacier Bear

There are a lot of great sites out there with good/great strategies for camping the GB. On of the issues lower levels and to some extent middle levels have to deal with is the Lich. Today I tried something that helped dramatically. The best thing I can suggest to getting in safely would be to go to www.eqshaman.com and find the cave map (While the paths it identifies aren't entirely accurate, they are generally correct and the corridors are correct as well.) Identify the corridors that give you the most direct path to the room with the "broken teleporter" which has two IB's positioned on either side of the teleporter. Have SoW up, with Gate loaded and proceed with caution, especially around corners.

Once in the room, position yourself in the back left hand corner (as you face the broken teleporter), sit and load the following spells. Root (rather then Enstil, is quicker cast time), Venom of Snake or Gail of Poison (for bear), Scourge (for bear), Winter's Roar (for IB's), UV (for you), Greater Heal (just in case), Sense Animal (for Bear) and finally Assiduous Vision (for you ... Vision may work .. not sure). Make sure you are SoW'd as well .... just in case.

Once this is done, cast ONE DD (Winters Roar) to the IB guarding the teleporter (closest to you)... the skel will follow track to outside of room, in corridor. When the skel stops, cast the second DD to bring him down. Target the slain skel and go back to your corner. From there cast Assiduous Vision, hit F9 four times for pan view (fifth F9 brings you back to first person). Pan both sides of the corridor looking for the Lich. When either the Lich or the pet is seen target them and recast Assiduous Vision. Your perspective will now be from one of the two dangerous roamers. This will give you visuals as to what is traveling the corridors (if Bear is too far away for Sense Animals, or if PH's spawn)... equally important, you will see when the Lich is coming close to the teleporter room in case you feel the need to roam.

If the skel corpse expires prior to your seeing the Lich or pet, repeat the sequence for killing the skel. The nice thing about Assiduous Vision is that you can recast SoW, UV, Sense Animal without losing the Lich perspective.

This may be overkill, but it helped me. Just my two coppers.

finally got this guy to pop. took some patience but when it finally popped I felt SO good.

here's what I did. I was using my shadowknight to run totemic quests, so I just kept ITU up all the time and the lich wasn't a problem.

I went in and sat down in the big room with the altar thing and the 2 stationary icebones. I sat down, facing the opening (you can see into the hallway) and waited. when I saw the roaming IBS's wander by I'd kill them, then camp. 7 hours later I come back and wait until either the IBS or glacier bear pops. the first 2 times the IBS's popped, but the third time, BAM! the bear popped. I could hardly believe my eyes. I pulled it back into the room with the 2 static IBS (the lich doesn't roam into this room so its good). My hands were shaking, and as I killed it paranoid thoughts were racing through my head thinking someone was gonna KS it. heheheh.

grabbed the pelt and ran off to CT. luckily, ogreskin camois dropped off the first page I killed. nice!

Whats the average time/number of occurance of the Glacier Ice Bear?

Don't know if you can assign an average number of sightings, my impression is that the spawning is random. I can confirm from multiple camps and pelt retrievals that the spawn rate is 6 hours and 45 minutes from the time of PH slaying. Each roaming IB Skel is the placeholder and you have the oppty of statistically getting two oppty's in approx 8 hours. With regards to the number of time spawing .... just got off a camp where the Bear popped twice in a row ... been in camps where the bear didn't spawn for 4 camps in a row. Don't know if that is typical, but it was my experience. Good luck.

So here I find myself in EF, ahh yes Halas, home of the Barbarians. Not wanting to stay up late again tonight, I say to myself...SELF go see if that VERY RARE Glacier Bear is spawned up in dat cold dark underwater cave way up North of the zone (prolly an early night, prolly wont be there right?).

So I Do....

I cast a Quick EB and swim into da cave...pop my head through the icy cold water...and cast a quick sense animals spell just to see if old Fred the Glacier Bear is out and about...Dident really have my hopes up, he's an 8 hour spawn.

When BANG...There he is targeted in my window! My heart starting to race I immediately pull out a puppy cause I have been told that old Fred hits hard! I spend 15 Minutes Buffing my pet to the teeth and tossing a few my way as well for good measure and then med to full.

I say to my Puppy, Jabbar, thats his name somtimes, you gaurd here...and he does (really good puppy, always Listens).

So off I go a hunting, New Spell Bar up with DoT's and my bestest Poison DD spell, Enstill and G heal just in case. No cold based spells however, Old Fred is 100% resistent to dem....

So off I go a hunting, here freddy, freddy, freddy (I call him Freddy Sometimes) A quick re-cast of Sense Animals to get me in the right direction and BANG there he was.....

Quick Cast of Enstill, Scourge, Envenomed Breath, Affliction and Infectious Cloud and run back to puppy to med.

68 Seconds Later Old Fred Comes a walking my way rather slowly (Think he wasent feeling so good.....and......Bang before he knew it I hit him with the......YEP u guessed it Shock of the Tainted Posion DD does 226 Damage and that was it....Blue Con to me at 38 I ended with 3/4 Mana and Puppy dident even get a chance to fight, but he did enjoy the meat that was left on old Fred's bonze.

So now you have come to the end of my story and you say to yourself....self....why is old Garg telling me this story? And Old Garg says kindly, Lad (or Lass) could ya make me a Medium Banded Helm so that I may complete my Totemic Helm Quest cause that all I need Now! I got my PELT!

I went in at about 11:30PM EST and cast Sense Animals just to see if he was there. It works, if your in the area and in need of this PELT for your Totemic Helm try what I tried, maybe you too will get lucky!

I am in the room with the broken teleporter and two Ice Bone Skeletons. Are the Skeletons the Glacier Bears Placeholders?
It DOES Exist

I just bagged this extremely elusive bear after 3 consecutive days of non-stop camping. I slept here and there in-between spawns, but I stayed logged in the whole time. As one GM that I talked to put it, "To say it is a rare spawn would be an understatement." It's a BIG bear too, almost twice the size of Iceberg, and it's not just the caves playing tricks either. Have patience, my fellow bear hunters!

Ok, here's the scoop

Youu can trick the bear to automatically respawn, but it's a little tricky. how?

aggro a wandering skeleton or the lich (be careful, make sure you have sow and are out of range) and drag them near the 2 icebone teleport room. you need to be fast, but the goal is that 1) you are heading north. then 2 you turn EAST to head down the long top east-west tunnel. whatever is chasing you will take the path of least resistance, which will be the closer tunnel (a dead end). they will get stuck here.

2) Now hurry into the broken teleporter and let it "beam" you backwards. this will clear your aggro and, surprisingly, force a respawn of whatever was chasing you. You need to HURRY, though, otherwise they'll catch up and start pulling on your leg.....

...... Just like I'm doing to you now! :)

Very handy when people keep asumeing that just because my warrior is a half elf he can cast SoW. Dont ask me why people assume this but some simply wont belive that he's a warrior. Go figure.

The other night I helped a Shammie get this monster for his quest armor no problem. Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe It's the time I play since I'm stationed overseas but I see him on track every night. 2 nights ago he was up again and I was the only mid level in zone so I went down and solo'd him and got the pelt again. If you're on Bristlebane and having trouble getting him I'll offer my services for whatever you feel is a fair price or trade. I'll even go with you and turn in the pelt I have for your totemic helm. Send a tell to Adita

anyone know where he spawns in that cave?
Spawn time

I camped this bear for 9 hours last night. I killed the two ice bones at 4:30pm. I sat in that cave for all of the 9 hours afterwards doing sense animal every couple of minutes, roaming the tunnels, and keeping See Invis up to check for people sneaking in to KS him (I've had that happen too many times!). The bear nor the ice bones poped again within those 9 hours. I stayed until 1am, well in excess of the time it should have taken him to spawn. I'm going to camp him again tonight, and probably talk to a GM about whether the spawn may be broken.

I have killed him now twice in the last few weeks. A friend of mine killed him 5 times in 2 weeks. Getting him is hard but here are some easy steps to do it. (It's best to do it while you are around level 30, gives you something to do in Everfrost).

1. Make sure you know where to look for him and know his path... finding maps of the caves and his path isn't hard. (Also, make sure to know the path of the Lich and where the other necro NPC is located before you run around like a bratty kid at Chucky Cheese)

2. Make sure you either have track, sense animal, or someone who can that you can TRUST. This animal is too hard to get to leave to chance and the helm is worth too much to get it Yoinked by someone you thought was helping you. Just going down into the caves to the ice skeleton altar and using sense animal or track is good enough. No need to search his entire route. If he's up, you'll see him. (If you do NOT have a way to track, simply go to ice boned hut and wait if you think he's up, he comes to that location and stands there during his route)

3. Make sure you have all the spells you need up, or that you have someone by to heal you. (Note: ice or cold spells are no good, so don't waste the mana) He really can't take disease and poison spells though so pile em up. Fire is probably good too. He isn't much harder than the average wooly mammoth (HP-wise).

4. Have something to do. That is why it's important to be around level 30. You can kill mammoths and gain exp and still go down every 7-8 hours or so. Or wait until high 40's and kill Ice Giants. Just as long as you have something to do. (And find out about place holders so you know what to kill to get him to spawn!)

5. MOST importantly: 1) ANY TIME they announce the servers coming down (especially if it's only for a few minutes) RUN down to the caves and CAMP there (make sure you can actually camp so you are saved there.... wouldn't be good to be disconnected and pop back on to find yourself tangoing with the Lich) When they reopen the servers you have a 33% chance he's up, so stay alert for the servers coming back up too. OR
2) Play at night when few others are on. That way you can hold the spawn from out on the tundra and you don't have to sit down in the caves picking off stationary ice bones for kicks.

6. LAST of all, be smart. Don't get all excited when you see him and jump him with half health and mana. Take your time. If someone jumps in and tries to KS him, petition. (It IS only a game... oops BLASPHEMY hehehe) It is also possible to pull him out onto the tundra (he will come up through holes in the ice) but he's a fast swimmer so be careful. And, sweet God, don't let Tundra Jack KS him...

(Note: you COULD always kill the placeholder and then camp, logging back in every 7-8 hours to either get the bear or kill placeholders again, but i wouldn't advise it. Either you'll miss him altogether or you'll pop up and find someone else camping him. It's happened to me and do you think they'll actually believe that you are camping him like that? LOL)

Anyway, good luck and hope i've helped,

Sorry, the placeholder for the bear is a pair of wandering ice boned skeletons. There are other ice boned skeletons down in the caves but they are all stationary. If you see any ice boned skeletons down there, and they happen to be walking in the tunnels or moving around, they are your placeholders. Every time the spawn is activated, there is a 33 percent chance it could be an ice boned skeleton, the bear, or another wandering ice boned skeleton. So, good luck and good hunting.

Lich of Miragul
# Oct 13 2000 at 6:55 PM Rating: Default
The real scoop is that the lich is KOS to everyone, be it storyline wise or FA quest wise. To make FA a very guild based quest, Verant made it necessary for the lich to be charmed by an enchanter or necro so that u can talk to him. But I think he stops being KOS if u return the phylactery artifact which stores its soul. In the story, Miragul's heart has grown as cold as the frigid plains, that is why he likes that place so much, with no one there to bother him, he thirsts for knowledge, that is when he has decided to return to Paineel to see if the heretics have found a way to become immortal. Although they did not, Miragul played along with them in raising an army of undead to attack the good city of Erudin while experimenting with himself all the while. He realises that the undead ceases to age and wants to be like them. He returned to his chamber with an artifact called the phylactery he stole from the heretics and transferred his soul into the Phylactery as soon as his experiment began. The experiment was successful, but Miragul realised one glaring strategic flaw, he had forgotten to place a step in the experiment to transfer his soul back into the lifeless corpse of his former self, which is now an undead and retains all of its knowledge, without the soul. Miragul could do nothing except scream in anguish. In the FA quest, the phylactery ended up with the oracle of K'ar'non (not Ak'ar non the gnome city) the guy u kill for the oracle robe. They also say that if u perform the quest of Azraax's (spelling) legacy quest to obtain the mantle of souls, u can raise faction with Miragul greatly. U can also see in Caster's realm a screenshot of FA quest when the lich is back to his Erudite self, the players hailed him and he said 'leave me be, worm'
