Zahal the Vile  

In order to mark the in game map for my time on the Progression Servers I got on my 34 ranger (Nameless) and started marking the NPCS. After reading here the info abou Zahal, I also marked the supposed spawn point around +1500, -1500 (far north, up on the slant that marks the farthest north boundary of zone. After that I decided to run down a bit east of the Gypsy camp and set my tracking to "normal", which to a Ranger means that as mobs spawn they will appear at the top of the list. No sooner was I parked east of the G camp where the path takes a turn NE towards the EK zone, than Zahal the Vile appeared on my track - I did not mark the time in game but it was darkeneing skies so had to be evening maybe at or after 6 PM game time. I mention this because there was no one else in zone but my ranger and that might or might not be relevant. I hit TRACK and had to face south and west a bit. Yep - Zahal was south of the tower.

Now I had SOW on but by the time I was south of the tower on the high-rise area the tower is on, and right near the part where that rise gives way to a downward slope to the south, then I caught sight of Zahal (as a troll) coming UP FROM THE SOUTHWARD AREA on a northward track that seemd to me to be that he was heading north by north-west. If he were actually heading on a true northerly path he would come very close to Zanussus waaay up north. Anyways his path was approximately due north, maybe on a north by north-west angle.

Killed him, got the guts. I killed him at location -1382, +268. At this spot, if you face true north, you wil be looking at a tree, and see the backside and southern face of the tower itself, and the NPC Guards right shoulder at the front of the tower. On track at this spot I could get Zanuusus, but not Tal Stoutheart who is closer to the +1500, -1500 spawn point noted in another post here.

I did not get the EXACT spot that Zahal spawned. However, this description should hopefully give some prospective people a slightly better chance at finding Zahal.

Now, following the discussion about Regis and that he will spawn as soon as Zahal is killed, I started running north by north-eastward towards the +1500, -1500 spawn point and guess who appeared on track? Regis the Reverent. And funny thing, he wound up standng on eactly +1500, -1500.

I hope this description will help many. It may be I only found 1 area close to a spawn point for Zahal, but I hope it helps.

One Zahal... notice closesly looking at the pictures. He appears as a troll in the one picture because he's an /anon Guide/GM the has not been /becomed into an NPC yet... /Anon hides Guides and GMs so they dont have the green tag or appear on the GM list

I was going through N. Karana collecting light stones to turn in at the camp when I saw this ugly troll stroll through the camp. He con'd red to me, so I beat feet a bit backwards and watched the oddest thing happen.

As he passed one of the merchants (don't remember the name, one of the female chanters), he turned around as he passed her and started attacking her. She just mez'd him I believe and he just sat there next to her the entire time I was hunting lightstones. Everytime he came out of it, she just mez'd him again. From what I saw, this guy seems to have an amazing regen rate.

I was not able to find him using sense the dead.
Doesn't he undead?

I killed this guy with my level 20 twink druid; Charmed a griffenne, buffed it, DS'd it, and chain healed it. Ghoul started to run just as I ran oom.

any one know how to get him to spawn? or it is a time frame limit or both?

This guy hits hard fast and has a long lasting goul root spell that he hits you with about ever five hits that her lands, if that happens your probly dead unless your a tank class and take the hits.

I would question his level, I'm a level 39 druid, and he's still dark blue to me.. pretty easy kill by rooting and dot, but I wouldn't want to melee him for fear that he'll ghoul root me (which he has done before,and it almost killed me) I've killed him about a dozen times, and have had the belt drop 4 times... now if I could only find someone to buy them so I can clear up that space.

Me and three other friends have been camping him for some time, to no avail. Finally tonight, no one else was camping him. We knew the exact time he died and waited for four hours. After four hours no pop, so I went by myself to kill of the undead at the obelisk. The instant I dropped the last undead, he popped by the guard tower. I don't have the exact coordinates, but it was on the southeastern portion of the hill, right at the base. So, because of that, and other posts I've read, I think his spawn point is a little random.

And for those just looking to get this guy killed so you can go after Regis, simply train Zahal up to the guards at the guard tower. They'll make quick work of him. Then you can go after Regis at full health and mana, instead of a long battle with Zahal followed by another one with Regis.

Finally finished the darn thing today. Must admit most cleric quest armor is easy aside from a freakin' spawn you have to wait for, in this case, Zahal the Vile. I'm a 52 ranger with 198 tracking skill, so it pretty much covers the entire zone and with /tracksort set at normal, the tracklist shows the most recent spawns on top of the list.

With this in mind, I parked myself in the North part of the zone, just North of the gypsy camp where I was told he usually hung out by some shakily reliable source. From there, I started chacking track every minute or so. After about an hour and a half, there he was, finally, Zahal the Vile. I ran right to him and was very surprised to find him at the druid ring, the lil bugger spawns at the undead ruins, and not in the North part of the zone as I had been informed, he does head there after a while however, but if you want to make sure to get your paws on him first, I'd recommend parking your behind at the ruins instead.

The rest of the quest is easy, I hope this proves helpful to some.

it doesn't matter who kills zahal, regis will still spawn in the NE corner of the zone. pull regis eastward away from the werewolf hunters because they like too kill him too. give the guts and 5pp to sansa nusk in the queynos bard guild and the strings from her to fabien in freeport.

What are the Bag of Troll Guts for?

Right when i ported into nk from druid rings there was a fighting going on with like 3 druid npcs with a treant against him. He got his ass schooled but he lasted long.

This guy appears to have either an irregular spawn or a triggered one. One evening on the Drinal server he spawned twice within the space of thirty minutes. Both kills lead to Regis the Reverent spawning. It proved quite tricky to seperate one Regis from the other so we could kill them both off.

I found him by accident one day as a level 28 shaman. He conned yellow, but since I have no trouble with yellow aviak avocets I figured it was worth a shot. He had pretty good resists and runs faster than most ghouls (not as fast as SoW but I wouldn't recommend trying to escape him without it). I had him at half life when I ran out of mana, so I rooted him and left. I believe he has more hp than an avocet, but probably less than a cyclops of the same level.

Well I ran all over NK all day long today and Zahal was nowhere to be found, I was useing Sense the Dead and all I ever picked up was the stupid Green Zombies and Ghouls ... No Zahal..
