A druid can solo everything without much danger. Snare and nuke. Peace of cake!

Soloing them should be doable, watch for the other things in the zone at that level, as a druid you want to kind keep track of the time for the snare cause you want to keep it refreshed if you're kiting.
Why they are 'Carrion' Spiders...

Carrion means dead flesh, therefore the 'carrion' they are feeding on is dead halflings. Makes the halfling parts actually kind of cute :)

I have tangled with these critters numerous times, and I'd like to share my experiences and observations with everyone.

These spiders look identical - and are comparable to - giant spiders that can be found throughout Norrath, only they are a little tougher. They hit for about 5-25 damage, and can inject a weak poison. In other words, nothing particularly special about them in combat.

Loot consists strictly of dropped items, with the items being spider legs, giant spider venom sacs, spider silk (up to four at a time, good for you practising tailors), and....halfing parts. I suppose they like to eat halflings.

They like to eat halflings, i've found 3 times halfling parts on them.

I bet the Halfling parts bit is a reference to The Hobbit and the spiders that almost ate little Bilbo.

If you're looking for decent silk supplies, look no further. These spiders drop silk a lot of the time, and frequently in multiples.
