  • Placeholder is: an aqua goblin shaman
  • This mob spawns at 2507, 921, -194 deep underwater by the base of the aviak ramp that also has the flame of innoruuk; on the island east of the Arena ZL.
  • Respawn Timer: 4m 30s

PH's are: an aqua goblin shaman AND an aqua goblin

Method 1: Sit and wait approach

Park yourself next to Rykas at 947, -610 on the land, and kill the PH that comes through there. Wait time is about 20-25min. (on a fast run, its 17ish min) Webclaw attacks Rykas! (Not the PH's though). Kill Rykas. No faction hit and problem solved.

Method 2: Faster sit and wait approach. Park yourself next to Rykas at 947, -610 on the land, and kill the PH that comes through there. Once PH is killed, move to 2507, 921, -190 (under water, right below the Aviak tower island). Respawn is 4 min 30 sec. Best Farming method.

Notes on Method 2: If you can find the PH on anywhere along the path, you dont have to wait long, but waiting at Rykas will be the guaranteed method. There are multiple mobs sharing parts of the same pathing.

As far as pathing goes, I posted a picture of it up - goes in a counter clockwise fashion.
Right when its above the underwater tower area, it will glitch through to the floor, but will come back out after a minute or so.

Place holders are aqua goblin or aqua goblin shaman.

PHs are aqua goblins and shaman, nothing else so don't pay attention to that "other creatures" nonesense as you track down the PH. I don't know why people give bad information on here. Respawn time is 4m 53s exactly. -921, 2666 is the loaction he stops at the southwest of the map at the bottom of the Lake. He also goes ashore right beside Rykas. I would say if you wait at either of these point the PH will stop for you and you can start camping at 2513, 920 from there. Side note. The zone is buggy Nd mobs are getting stuck under the lake bed. When I followed him he swam to the lake bed south of spawn point and started swimming back and forth rapidly, so I killed him to avoid him getting trapped undergeound.
Confirmed his spawn

Confirmed today that Webclaw's PHs are random critters swimming near or south of the underwater ground spawn below the green flame near Aviaks.

I started from that point and killed anything in the water south of that spot. I did not kill a single goblin npc during the initial clearing. Once I ran out of things to kill, I hung out near the ground spawn, but backed away east from the island to get a good view of anything swimming by or spawning.

I kept targeting the nearest npcs swimming near or spawning near. After a spawn cycle or two, an aqua goblin shaman ph spawned on top of the ground spawn and stayed there for a minute. I don't know if he's roam because I killed him before he started.

I kept killing everything in the area, and eventually killed one more shaman before Webclaw popped, holding the Water Crystal Staff. In all, only spent about an hour in the zone actively camping him.

My experience
# Dec 16 2017 at 11:30 PM Rating: Good
Killed him twice today on ragefire server.

Followed various methods i found online to no avail until i tried clearing the zone of all goblin shamans. It appears to me as if the goblin shamans are his PHs. His exact spawn point was directly over the ground spawn bag (its some kind of sword hilt) that you can find in the water directly below the green flame.

After ******** up my quest, I went back for another round of staffs. Killing all shamans in zone and watching the spawn point yielded a much quicker Webclaw spawn.

In my experience, goblin shamans were his PHs on both occasions.

I just camped this guy on Phinny server. Here's how I did it:

1) you need to make sure he, or a PH is not already up and swimming around. This is the toughest part. His PH can be almost anything: alligator, shark, aqua goblin, froglok, or piranha [not sure about the piranha]. Find it and kill it. For me, I found that the gobs would tend to swim west from spawn point then circle counter clockwise. They swim fast, you'll want sow/jboots.

2) once the PH is killed, go to precisely this point: 2046, 749, -49. Adjust your depth so that your clip plane gives you the most distant view, so your eyeballs are right at water lvl.. any deeper and the underwater fog creeps in.

3) Face exactly east.

4) Every 2-3 minutes something will spawn nearby. I believe the actual spawn point is due easy of the point I mention above, but stay where I said and watch due east. Pet up if you have it, or use ranged weapons. Use SHD Track skill (i.e. keep hitting your Tab key, or whatever you have to lock on to nearest mobs) until you lock on to something, then, without moving, kill it (pet or ranged.) If it's not in range then it has spawned due east and is swimming towards you. Wait for it then kill it.

5) I killed everything that spawned nearby, even the stuff that spawns north and south (mainly fish, snakes, and occasional piranha). I'm not convinced that these nearer spawns are PHs, but why take chances?

If you do all the above, Webclaw will eventually spawn due east swimming towards you.

To save you from reading old posts dating back to 2000 with mixed info as to his spawn info, here it is:

Spawns at 2507, 921, -194 (deep underwater by the base of the aviak ramp that also has the flame of innoruuk; on the island east of the Arena ZL).

PH are aqua goblins and aqua goblin shamans.

One of the three (or 4 if it's fabled time) of these mobs will spawn every 4-5 minutes.

Correct info.

If Webclaw or PH isnt killed they take a long swimming trip to Arena area -> SW end of zone -> SE island (walkes up on it) -> back to aviak ramp. Kill any PHs in the water south of ramp untill they start poping at spawn point. There is a bag in water were they spawn so its easy to find.
Got Him

Well, we were on a run to help our cleric under Lake Rathe. A friend zoned in to help, so I left the underwater tower to bring him down there. When I surfaced, I was getting nuked for 179 and 200. I got scared cause I didn't know what it was or where they were. After running around the aviak island with the huge platform I found him and quickly dispatched him by using melee.
My weapons are fast delay so I think that helped.

I did see Webclaw over near the Aviaks just outside of the entrance to the Arena. It was night, so I couldn't see what he was doing, but he was just past the tree on the right of the entranceway that's level with the base of the cliff entrance. In fact, thanks to a high level Druid who blasted him, I now have a Water Crystal Staff. (Its in the bank as my back-up weapon; my weapon of choice is a Smoldering Brand, but I rarely engage in melee)

While camping the 3 spawn tower with a Vah Shir Rogue (who was with me at the Arena entrance earlier and also saw Webclaw there), I noticed Webclaw spawn quite often. He spawns at the base of the tower and climbs up the cliff opposite the tower.

Not quite sure if Webclaw despawns eventually and respawns, or if someone was over at the Arena entrance area (or closer) and was killing him a lot. Didn't think to do an OOC and ask.

He probably just warps a lot on his journey. He seems to have an aqua goblin placeholder who walks the same path over the mountain, kill that and Webclaw should spawn.

he was easy for me. I was sitting right next the the aviak diving board saving the camp for my bro's magician. Then i got nuked for like 200 damage it knocked my hp down 2 bubbles but i immediatly got up and started slashing him with my crystallized short sword and my centi longsword. I kept interuupting him so he couldn't cast even though he has a fast cast rate. After 10 min i finished him off with 2 hp. I think he was a weak one because people said he should have been alot harder. Oh yeah im a fairly twinked warrior with 200str. My warrior is lvl 24

for warriors, from 1-60, you want AC, HP, DPS, Haste, Taunting procs, Sta, Dex, Resists (resists go up on raids), Agi, and Str. That's right, in EQ, str is your least concerned stat.

i killed murkclaw with a 19 bard, 19 monk (myself) and a 23 warrior. killed him 3 times in an hour. spawns in the water just before the avviak diving board about every 10mins after he is killed. he has a pretty gnarly cast with super low recast delay, but he runs out of mana pretty quick. to kill him, u need a TON of hp, my friend had 1000 and it still brought him down to 1/8 of a bubble before we killed him. BE CAREFUL
Where is he
# Mar 06 2002 at 11:19 AM Rating: Default
This guy popped virtually on top of me. I was camping the aviak "diving board" - the three aviak spawn on the island. i was medding in between spawns and was awoken by a nuke for like 179 damage.

i was a solo 26 SK and he conned blue - WHAT A CROCK. a harm touch of 270 damage hardly put a dent in this guy and his nukes are real nasty.

don't try and solo him as a tank if you are only 26 - 28 or so. he's tougher than he cons.

but as regards where he is, if you camp the aviak 3 - spawn which you CAN do as a solo 25 - 28 tank. he will show up.
Where is he?
# Feb 23 2002 at 10:54 PM Rating: Default
Today i camped him for a full day in real life. Some people told me to kill the three aviaks by the flame at the top of the steps/tower for him to spawn. Other people told me to kill the whole gnoll camp for him to spawn. And even more people told me to kill the shaman aqua goblin for him to spawn. And other people told me he is a random spawn. FOR GOD's SAKES MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!! I was at lake rathe for ages and he didnt even show up on track!!! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET HIS STAFF!!!! *gasps for air* Enuff said.

I do not know where he spawns but I think its to the north east of the 3 spawn "Tower". Anyways he will walk pass the tower that the three spawns are on and over the mountain behind it. He will then proceed to swim to south end of the Area spawn area and get "stuck" for a bit by a tree. He will then pop back to spawn spot and repeat the journey until he is killed. His phers are aquagoblin shamans and aquagoblins who follow the same pathing. When i camp him I sit by the tree he gets stuck in by Area and killing the aquagoblins that follow the same pathing.

Today I was camping the Hermit in Lake Rathear, he spawns at a hut near N940 2250 and I went after jonah brucker after he was walking away, then I say this Goblin in the water just straight out from the dock where the hermit spawn. I targeted him and I see it was Webclaw Murkwave. He conned red to my necro so I logged in my 30 druid and conned him, he was blue to my druid. I buffed myself with all buffs I had available and med to FM. I snare him and when he walk into the dock I root him and chain nuke him, I had to heal my self since he was nuking me for 179hp, but I was able to kill him, he droped the staff. So my advise is to come and camp the hermit and keep an eye on this nasty gobo. Good luck.

He just killed my friend last night right by the west end of the Aviak Guard camp. There has been a glitch in that area causing the sharks to swim on land as well as making this little one attempt to walk up to a non-reachable area thus he gets stuck next to a tree on the hill. I have been in Rathe Lake for the last three days and have seen him every day. I am on the luclin server.

I had my lower level ranger in the arena guard tower today and he spawned just to the right of the arena opening, down about half way to the beach. He headed directly across the water to the three spawn, wandered around there for a bit, then headed back to the right side of the arena opening. He went back and forth like that for about an hour, at least. There was no one in the zone at the time. That's also the first time I've seen him on track even in the week or so she's been there, so I can't tell you if that's his normal pattern or not.

Good thing I thought ahead and asked a lvl 40 wizard to accompany me, you know, for good luck :) Well, I threw the first nuke, and he threw 3 at 170 damage each.....needless to say the rest of the battle went like that, and my poor lifeless body was eventually left at the bottom of a rocky hill. My my wizard buddy killed him for me, and I got my staff, a gem of some sort, and one other item which I cannot recall. That was at lvl 27, so maybe I will try again soon, now that I am 29 :)

This guy has killed me so many times! Even at lvl 26 with 920hp he nuked me 4 times in a row for 179 and various other nukes for in the 30's. I had him down so probably one more hit would have killed him and he got me!. Why is it that blue cons in LR are so hard? Like the lvl 12 guards that hit for 90's?

Rule of thumb about all caster mobs, since they can cast on the run, melee like warriors, and have way more hp than any wizzies I know. Always assume they are 7 levels higher than thier con.
You CAN take this guy if you know what you are doing. Only lvl's 30 and up should attempt this.
When you see him, snare him. While he casts his first nuke you cast root. While he casts his second, you cast your best dot. Now, get out of his cast range. Heal up, and med up until you see the "XX roots has worn of" From there he is snared and you can get him before he gets you. Have whirling wind memmed, (it stuns knockbacks and does 122 dmg) and hit him with it a couple of times. At that point he should be almost dead. You can then root him and dot him (if you are a wuss like me.) or you can nuke him to death and get nuked back some. He's simple, you just have to have a plan.

Wrong time for a big lag spike...
# Dec 12 2001 at 7:12 AM Rating: Decent
An 18th lvl rogue, 19th lvl druid and an 18th lvl enchanter were walking down the street...

Actually, we were on the flame island camping Aviak Guards and doing quite well. Got on a spawn cycle with the three Aviak Guards so that after we pulled and killed one guard, another would spawn. wash, rinse, repeat.

Then Webclaw shows up. We had decided that when he spawned, we'd take him since we were all bound in the Arena. I'm at the top of the tower waiting for the next spawn to pull, when I hear "Casting snare on Webclaw Murkwave." So, I fly back down the tower to engage. As soon as I engage with a back stab, there was a huge lag spike. Everything froze for probably 6 seconds. Once the action resumes, I'm down to one bubble of health and I see a lot of "you try to pierce Webclaw Murkwave but his magical skin resists." Or something like that. Because of the spike, the druid couldn't get a heal off in time and the 'chanter wasn't able to help either.

I died. The druid ran back to the Arena (sow and levitate). The 'chanter went invis and camped.

Needless to say, I'm coming back for Murkwave. In the meantime, anyone have a strategy for debuffing him? Or was it the fact that I'm 7 lvls below him that prevented me from hitting him?
A pain but very easy

Tonight my 20th level dwarf warrior and my close friend's 20th dwarf paladin were grouped at the tower when this guy went off on us. Was red at 20 and we were afraid we'd get killed, but were bound in the arena, so we were close. We just hacked away. I could not taunt him off her, so she ended up having to use her Lay Hands; but we got him. He burned me alot, but I don't think I went down more than a bubble and a half. Got the staff, a hunting bow and some cheapo arrows, and got a pearl earring. Good experience, too. Luck has been with us this week.
