Hammer of Vengence
# Jun 23 2002 at 6:20 PM Rating: Default
I did the Initiate symbol of the Tribunal quest yesterday and I could never get to Qeynos because of these jerks were always in my way. I finally got a friendly level 43 shaman to escort me to Black Burrow and I got buffed for my return trip. My reward: an item that summons a Hammer of Vengence. A 6/32 1H Blunt with a +3 bonus on undead. I decided to go test it out on decaying skeletons well my bad luck had me run into one fo the Vengefuls. I figured I might as well fight him besides not like I will lose experience or gear because I am only level 4. The loser went down with ease. I also went up a level and an orange buble on the next level. I then spent the next hour making these my b*tch.

Now I know why it is called the hammer of vengence.

Annoying

The Trio Vengeful are, without a doubt, amongst the most irritating things in EverQuest, especially if they're a newbie. The number of times my happy little Barbarian Rogue has ran screaming at what seems like a wussy skeleton in the hopes of a quick kill and some silver to squander on beer, only to receive a vicious beating courtesy of a Vengeful corpse (and any other critters which feel like kicking me while I'm down) is insanely high. However, revenge is taken frequently now that I'm a high enough level to introduce them to some swashbuckling justice, and it warms my heart to see a bunch of newbies co operating to take down one of their hated Vengeful scourges.
Not really.

Actually, I like these guys around. When I didn't have my baby-kisses his Mino Axe- It made it a problem and most often I lost. But I saved up the cash and ran and got a Mino Axe and my regeration spell and these guys crumbled(No pun intended)at my feet. The last time I played my Bard I took out a Solist, he was the one that killed me have the time(he was also still a red) without a problem at all.Althought I lost about half my life due to my low one hand slashing. So, if you are having a problem like this just go out and grab a mino axe and if you can wield two, get TWO!...Though I may be wrong...

Killed one of these guys in 1 wack the other day on my way to get a piece of my epic. I guess it never ends, for noobs these guys are hell for me they are just anoying. Why cant undead be like all the other mobs in this game, once you get like 10 lvls higher than a normal mob they stop agroing you, undead like these guys still agro me at lvl 43, WTF they have no chance.

It may seem they resist a lot of spells, but a 6 Shaman, myself, casts Sicken, and 2 or 3 Frost Rifts on the Composers and Lyricists (never seen the solo), which will have them downt o about half health. In between casting, hit them with a spear, they'll go down quickly. I think they are high resist against poisons, my rogue friend couldn't do much damage with his blades, heat, and a rly high magic. But cold is at something like 15 and disease is probably too.

PS- Sicken, lvl 5 Shaman DoT, can be found at the ruins, about +2700 by -3300. Really good spell, USE IT

Ungrateful Dead

Is what I call these buggers. My 17 Shaman still looks for them on the way to and from Halas. "Come out, little Vengefuls, Come out and Play!"

I was playing with my son's 6th level Barb warrior, when the Soloist showed up, whacking everyone in sight. I tried playing Horatius at the Bridge, attacking him while yelling for all the newbies to run for the McMarrin brothers. All of a sudden several 5-6-7 types came up and started helping me whack. We took him down, though as the first victim my boy got knocked down to half. But a nice shaman took care of that.

You can ALWAYS get help with the Ungrateful Dead. They just aren't well liked, for some reason.

I hate these things so badly for killing my young shaman that I occasionally cruise for them even at level 18 so that other newbies won't have the displeasure of meeting them. The level order is (lowest to highest):
Composer (lvl 5 or 6 shaman with frost rift should be able to kill it)
Lyricist
Soloist

Aprry (y Barwyr)
Shaman of the 18th season

I was on my way to Black Burrow when one attacked me. In conned yellow but some time before that on killed me so i thought what the hell. Something more than one red bub later it was lying at my feet. Not so difficult in the end. So when you hit lvl 8, dont run away, hit them hard and let go of your spells and you will kick his sorry but and forget about all the times he killed you at early levels.

My barbarian warrior(the infamous Moomoomoomoomoo)
is frequently attacked by these, and at level 3 the most they EVER attack me is 12 points of damge, and their attacks are infrequent. This is just my experience, but they better have a LOT of health or else I'm kicking some vengeful but at 10.
eassy to kill

These guys are a pain for newbies, I took 1 out with a 6 warrior. He only took 1 1/2 bubs of health off me.

<humor rating="bad attempt">

Overheard as a Vengeful attacked a newbie:
"And YOU! You didn't give us ANY MONEY when we played Halas last, you sodding ingrates!"

Q: Why are the Vengefuls attacking people?
A: It's all a misunderstanding! They just heard of slam-dancing and thought it'd go good with their act.

Thus Spake Bertoxxulous: "The Ungrateful Dead? I think that gimmick's been done already. Try somewhere else, guys."

What did Delious Thyme do to get these guys so ticked? Was he their agent?

The Vengefuls: One more reason that necromancers should RESEARCH their potential court players for sufficient talent first.

As a barbarian warrior I have managed to kill these baddies from level 6 and up. And they conned red so level 10 is probably right, but they are easier than the level indicates, at least for a warrior.
Incorrect Minimum Level
# Oct 19 2000 at 8:52 PM Rating: Default
The vengeful composers consistently conned blue to me at level 9. The composers are good ep for lvl 8-10 characters while they are collecting those stacks of bone chips and bear pelts for sale to other characters. They seem to spawn at regular intervals near the southern igloos.
I HATE THESE VENGEFULS!!
# Oct 05 2000 at 10:00 AM Rating: Decent
And the reason is, not cos they resist all my spells, nor is it because they hit harder and faster than most other skels, but because like ALL the skels in this zone THEIR NAMES DONT APPEAR ABOVE THEIR HEADS!!!

Now, I know what your thinking, target them while they are far away, which 9 times out of 10 I do, but its still annoying when a skel shudders past, only too turn around and smack me upside the head!

Roll on level 10/11, I gonna smash some musicians butt!!
Possible kills at lower leves

The best thing about these guys is that they don't bash. They're pretty weak, so they are possible to kill when red. My shaman took one down at 5, and again at 6

I beg to differ.

I had the Lyricist bash me, stun me, and generally make a nuisance of himself and I had just barely cleared level 7. That was the first level that they didn't hand my my (bleep) on a platter. Now, they're an interesting target, fun to do a little Waltzing Matilda with.
RE: Possible kills at lower leves
# May 13 2001 at 11:23 AM Rating: Decent
This is not about the Lyricist.... it's about the composers..... and they are easy... my war took one out at 5 and again at 6.... the soloist kicks my sorry behind (altho it's close).... and i have yet to met up with the lyricist :)

Hate 'em!
# Aug 28 2000 at 7:57 PM Rating: Default
They never stop. May be for a quest but we dont like it when we want to kill a few skels and get them by miskake (ow). But some of us lvl 10 and up like to kill them. But the newbies get hurt thinking "Oh! Its a skel! KIILLL...." I dont like them, and you newbie barbarians and so on will hate them too.
vengefuls

The Lvls for the Vengefuls are Vengeful Composser Lvl 8 , Vengeful Lyricist 10-11, and Vengeful Soloist 12-13
lvls
# Jun 29 2000 at 12:15 PM Rating: Decent
They actually range in lvl.... If I remember my cons from that long ago.. Composer is 8, Lyricist is 10, and Soloist is 12.
Vengefuls
# May 04 2000 at 3:42 AM Rating: Decent
All three conned red to me at level 8 but blue at level 13. The Vengeful Composer drops page 74...the Vengeful Lyricist drops page 75...and the Vengeful Soloist drops page 76. The Soloist hits the hardest of the 3 but only brought me down 1 bubble with banded armor on. Once you have all 3 pages...go to Halas and at the gate take the right fork. The first building on the right is a bar and inside is a human female named Thadres Thyme. Turn all 3 pages into her and you will get exp and NO FACTIONS HITS. Then she'll give you back the complete(?) book of drink recipes. DO NOT LOG before doing this as the pages will disappear and you'll have to start all over again. I don't know if this is the end of the quest tho.
RE: Vengefuls

It is.

Question to you bards... are the musicians susceptible to bard spells? They resist practically everything else I've seen (and thrown at them). Casting a spell at them just makes them madder...
