I highly doubt anyone even looks at this guy anymore happened to pass through with my level 12 shaman and he cons white. So, level range may be off a bit.

I was afk for a bit by PoK book when he attacked. I had a Ceremonial Iksar BP on and he didn't seem to be able to take me below 99% with that on. Not sure exactly how long he was beating on me. 5 minutes or less.

Vengeful Musicians
# Apr 09 2003 at 8:22 PM Rating: Decent
OK it may be that lvl determines con color but remember the Vengeful Musicians also seem to have high stats (dex could be maxed but I'm assuming that). My rogue wasn't able to kill these things until lvl 6. My monk started killing them at lvl 4 (but he has dual wielded polished steel ulaks and kick). The rogue has a high dex but so does the monk. The monk also has higher agi. I love fighting these things. They give me a decent test of my skills and abilities. Of course they're not as fun as killing Gnolls. :D

Lemme tell ya a story of long ago, when the Everfrost newbie maze used to be nothing more than a training ground of little bears and dogs and spiders and such. Things went great once you learned that 1: standing in the middle of the road at level 1 is a bad thing; and 2: standing in the middle of the road after a couple levels is awesome.

Then one day there came a great cry of "WTF!!" from the snowy passages. Horrid skeletons of an unearthly level compared to what other creatures roamed the passages were happily stomping the newbies into oblivion. The higher levels found themselves agroed by pitiful annoying little undead Vengefuls, while the newbies screamed and cried at this new horrible invention of the Greater Gods.

Not all was well for the mid and high levels either, for in Halas there was a new woman, a bastage of a rogue with a very high level who freely roamed the town and filled the backs of any anti-Circle of Unseen Hands folks with daggers of death. A great outcry was heard from the many people who had destroyed their evil Qeynos guard standings (and thus the Circle also hated them) in the defense of Qeynos and the surrounding Hills.

The Greater Gods realized their mistake in giving this new servent of the Circle such extreme powers, and so the Nerf Demons dragged her unhappy butt into one of the Halas bars, nailed her feet to the floor, and stripped her of all but the cheesiest newbie level. However, they left the Vengefuls to roam the passages of newbie Everfrost to forever torture the upcoming Wolves of the North (and anyone else wishing to grow up in the icy cold).

This was only the beginning of the Greater God's unhappiness in the somewhat safe newbie grounds of various peoples, but at least they left the rest alone for quite some time. Let this be a lesson to ye... always make sure that both of those decaying skeletons walkin towards yer level 4 self are really decaying skeletons.

The end.
RE: Soloist's Icy Wand
# May 26 2002 at 11:48 PM Rating: Default
I think the wand that drops in the zone of Kurn's Tower is a SOLIST'S ICY WAND (I have one myself). I doubt such item known as a Soloist's Icy Wand exists. However, a player or GM could have given a wand or rod that has an Shock of Frost effect. Hope it answers any questions.

I know there is a very good item with a similar, if not, the same name. He dropped this item. It is just like it's big brother, except its effect is Shock of Frost, not Shock of Ice. It can't remeber what i did with it. i think I sold it in EC for some cash.

That wand randomly drops in the basement area in Kurn's Tower and in that zone only. Unless it has been very recently changed. I have heard it is more common that it was in the past.
Lootable corpses
# Dec 19 2001 at 1:05 PM Rating: Default
These guys are pretty good for level 1. If u find somebody has killed them, and forgot their corpse, you should loot it so youll have a few quest items already. But I still think their a little tougher than 10-12.
i think its not that easy at lower lvl char

Killed Vengeful Soloist at lvl 7

I took one on thinking i was going to die. But i had a war hammer at the time and even though i almost died i was able to defeat him. and received a bubble of experience.
Annoying

I was trying to get a level 1 barbarian out of Halas to go to Qeynos, and was going invis, when this thing (and I was attacked about 3 times just in the short time I was there by one of the 3) Hits her first, then I take it on (Im a level 16 mage but didn't have my pet up) I killed the thing pretty much just with melee (this from a high elf mage). I was low on mana and only got one lower spell out from all my interupted attempts. I didn't get hurt much either but suprisingly got some kind of exerience from it. That was fairly shocking concidering its level and mine. It did con green too. So might be a good thing for levels equal or a little below it to take out. It seems the level may be right, but just is very week at attacking.
Newbies Revenge
# Sep 19 2001 at 1:50 AM Rating: Decent
at level 10 the Soloist still cons yellow to me. I just started being able to wax the Composer, which was nice. But today the Soloist started whipping me from behind right in the first canyon junction. I had just finished buffing some newbies and was out of mana. But I had my scale skin up and just yelled for anyone to help if they wanted. I figured if I died it would be an easy recovery. But all the noobs came running out of the woodwork to whack the creep. I just stood there and smacked him to keep him on me. The noobs just whacked away until we got him. Everyone then cheered and danced around the bones. Every newbie who ever got waxed by these creeps had their revenge. That is one of the things that makes this game fun!

I was running through Halas one day to, i think, kill Vox and I killed a vengeful soloist and read the page, and thought it was just a big joke from Verant dissing the solo'ers ;p guess it was a quest lol.

These guys are EASY
# Jan 09 2001 at 12:49 PM Rating: Default
Serious case of over-conn, at least for meleers. My warrior have been fighting these guys since lev 6/7 and now at 9 none of them is a threat to me. And I have very basic equipment, only patchwork/leather armour and a 6/31 axe.

The level range above is not accurat though. At 8, the composer conned white, the lyricist yellow and the soloist red. At 9 the composer is blue, the lyricist still yellow and the soloist still red. This may vary of course.

So basically for a meleer a white conn is no challenge, a yellow conn is easy and a low red conn is no big deal either.

I was ill from a fight from a plague wolf. Took down two Polar Bear Cubs at once. Walked up to me, and started slapping me silly. I was level five. A monk. Doomed.

Yeah. I took my Lvl 8 Druid to Halas to have a look around...and while I was on my way back to BlackBurrow...this thing started hitting me. Conned red. Then a Gnoll pup decided to get in on the fun...Yeah...bash the Druid everyone! I almost made it to the zone...but it was not to be. He killed him on the slope in front of the entrance. My only consolation was...he was dead when I came back to get my corpse. I swear...someday...I'll get him back for that.

It is worth doing this quest multiple times as I have gotten three different books upon returning the three diary pages to Thadres Thyme.
Vengefuls
# May 04 2000 at 3:43 AM Rating: Decent
All three conned red to me at level 8 but blue at level 13. The Vengeful Composer drops page 74...the Vengeful Lyricist drops page 75...and the Vengeful Soloist drops page 76. The Soloist hits the hardest of the 3 but only brought me down 1 bubble with banded armor on. Once you have all 3 pages...go to Halas and at the gate take the right fork. The first building on the right is a bar and inside is a human female named Thadres Thyme. Turn all 3 pages into her and you will get exp and NO FACTIONS HITS. Then she'll give you back the complete(?) book of drink recipes. DO NOT LOG before doing this as the pages will disappear and you'll have to start all over again. I don't know if this is the end of the quest tho.
