A favorite for Enchanters because of his hood, this paladin is found wandering the area near the Paladin camp in Rathe on very rare occasion. Also at +3200, -1100 at hill giant area near where corrupted spawns for druid epic.

Rumour has it that an excellent way to prompt him to spawn is to kill anything between the Gypsy camp and the Paladins. Varying rates of success have been had using this method.

I sat at 2341 -842, -46 killing everything for about 30 hours.

He spawned on track and was found at 3141, -1061, 118, on top of the hill near the tent. I should have watched him but didn't want to risk missing him. There was no one else in zone.

If any mobs path SE down the path, those are not his PH, if you are wondering. They are for Brother Zephyl, Hasten Bootsrutter, Maldyn the Unkempt, and others.

From link on p1999 https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=812

As I've read, his spawn is supposed to be from a random placeholder (fire beetle, skeleton, brown bear, etc) in the northeast "bubble" of Rathe, south of the mountains that divide it in half. From what I gather, he is meant to spawn on the hillside, south of the orc camp, path along by the broken war machines (the catapults, etc), past the broken walls, then across to the gypsy camp, then north to the paladins on top of the mountains. It seems to be universally accepted that his placeholder/spawn is always on the south side of the mountain.

Confirmed on Cazic Thule Server....

Found this information to be helpful. I believe the place holder to be one of the above in (). What happen to me is that I had a ranger and was following the brown bear.. 2am (real life time) came rolling around and so did sleep. Found myself waking up at 5:00am with 3 skeletons beating up on my ranger. And found Quid Rilstone up as well.

Guy was tough to spawn, I spent a collective 12-16 hours of clearing the entire hill giant hill and surrounding areas in the NE quadrant. In the end, it looks like the PH at some point wanders through the southern region. I switched to stop clearing the hill uptop with the hill giants and giant skeletons, and only cleared mobs that pathed through the lower area to the south in between the hill and gypsy areas. He eventually spawned after killing only these mobs. However, I am unsure if he spawned due to NPCs killing other NPCs on top of the hill, so your mileage may vary.

I've been trying for several nights to get Quid to spawn, and just killing stuff between gypsy and paladin camps did not seem to do anything.

I found this link to the Project 1999 Quid spawn, and started to follow it. Later on, others point out that the spawn was reprogrammed since then. However, after taking out Glaron the Wicked, I stood at the Catapult wreckage, and killed all skeletons ,fire beetles and bears from there, the hillside, and back behind the catapult, to about halfway to gypsy camp. In about 40 minutes, I got Quid spawn at the location about halfway between Gypsy camp and Paladin camp. I got my hood, and bugged out.

Good luck all!

Does this NPC have faction? I'd like to go after the hood, but would hate to hurt my faction any.
How not to kill him as a druid
# Jun 26 2003 at 12:08 AM Rating: Decent
I ran past and saw him on track. I thought that the wig would be neat for my chanter.

I ran to him, medded up. Root, snare, Doom and started to nuke. Of course he LH after a short while. Now my problems started. I was too low on mana to finish him of with fire nukes since he starts to heal himself as soon as hp is lower than 49%.

He just keeps countering Drones of Doom and my mana was not coming back fast enough. I logged out and came back. After a bit of embaressing experimentation I found a good way.

Med to full, root, snare, Doom, Immolation. Med and renew until he reaches 49%. When he starts his healing my mana was good to bring him down.

Of course it was the 2hb hammer. Well I guess my nekkid pally will train his pooooooor skill in 2hb.

Naturaly the best solution for a druid of my age would have been to stack Doom, Immolation AND Crud. Wait until 49% hp then nuke. Still I learned my lesson without death.

redo as neededtill hits 50% then nuke with Fury of Air (DD *&* stun) finished him easy w/50% mana left to spare (40 druid)

I soloed him as a L44 Paladin, so I'd say no problem.

Be aware that he will do these things:
1) Lays on Hands at 50% health (bringing his health back up to 100%)
2) After he has used Lay on Hands, he will heal himself every time he falls below 50% health. His heals return roughly 10% of his health per heal. He has enough mana easily for roughly 10-20 heals once he starts doing this, so you'll need to stun him or make other arrangements.

Note that my fight was eternally long, and involved spending close to an hour keeping him rooted while I medded and tried to figure out how to run him out of mana. (So it really wasn't trivial as a L44 Paladin, especially since I was unprepared for the above.) Fortunately *knocks on wood* it turned out that I could out-meditate him as long as I had the patience of a saint. Did he drop my Pally 2HB? NoNo, of course not -- I have the Siryn Hair Hood.

On the old pre-luclin gnomes, it was a pointy brown hat (kinda like a leather hood with a point to it in the back)

I have camped this paladin for 6 days now. I am a lvl 21 enchanter on VZ. I even started killing the paladin camp in hopes that if I pissed them off he might spawn for revenge. No luck. Does anyone have more specifics about his spawn rate or maybe a placeholder?

He spawned as a "rare creature" while I was OOM.....( 49 ranger). He just walked looked around ....walked.. I got up to 40 mana then made a move. Snare wouldn't land twice, even while tanking, but did get root and a few dots to stick. I zoned when OOM....Came back in and he walked for about a minute a disappeared. off track Guess he despawned.

I have went to camp Quid three times now. The first time i went was for my chanter...would rather loot helm instead of buy for k's of pp hehe. He is located between the Paladin camp the Glaron the Wicked. I heard an easy way to get him to spawn was to kill all the npc's between the gypo's and the pallies. so i did. After one and a half hour of eating my greens (hehe) he spawned. on the hill just down from the orc camp on the gypsie side. Killed him, looted hood (AC 5, Cha 13, 10 Svs fire or close to that from what i remember) end of story. Later i found out that the hood goes for like 5k on my server...so back to RM it was HAHA. The second time there i did exactly as before and waited...and waited....and waited. No Quid! Got tired, Camped. Tonight i went back with a friend of mine (39 Shammy) and we let our pets rape all the greens (me a 45 SK) and sure enough after 2 hrs and 45 mins...Quid Rilstone! Blue con, Ready to attack (obviously) and ripe for the picking. Dropped him in under one minute and he dropped the Man-O-War this time, 19/41-Effect: Chaotic Feedback-Pal only, not bad...but not a hood LOL. I guess we'll go back tomorrow and give it a whirl. Hope some of this helps you guys out. GL with him and i hope you don't wanna lose pallie faction, cause he has tons of it ;)

What do i care, I'm a SK! hehe

Gpt him to spawn
# Oct 13 2001 at 7:59 AM Rating: Default
I got lucky and got Quid to spawn in the first hour or so. I was at half mana and down a bubble of health from killing Glaron the Wicked. I conned Quid he was blue so I say what the heck and I jump him. He fought a little bit harder than some posts lead you to believe. I bashed him and stunned him and he still got alot of heals off. He used LoH and before the end of it so did I. He dropped the head piece which is nice. All I can say about making him spawn is I killed mostly fire beetles and trained the orcs to the Paladins a few times. There was no faction hit. Good Luck to the rest of you.

ROFL.. okies.. I knew nothing bout this guy.. bout midnight CST, I went to camp Glaron the Wicked.. yeah I already got my epic shield, but hey, looked like fun and I was bored.. Unfortunately, another shaman had just killed Glaron, so I was up for a wait.. Well, that was the first night I played /gems really.. got to wave 10.. woot and yippie.. meanwhile, this guy actually walked right past me twice! he comes down the hill straight through Glaron's little area.. after Glaron finally respawned, the pally walked by once more so I said hey, les kill him and see if I get faction (was REALLY bored after the Glaron camp).. well, ran around and finally found him atop the hill standing still next to a tree.. sent my pet in, nuked him 3 times.. he's down.. the wandering skeleton gave me more problems.. thought it was cool there was no faction hit, then looted the hood.. didn't know anything bout it cept that it looked like it had nice Cha.. found out later it's really worth somethin.. the downside is I hear it is also hard to sell.. Maybe on Cazic Thule anyways..
Guess I'll give it to my chanter.. hehe..
Anyways, overall, was a easy guy to kill for a 44 shaman..

#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 01 2000 at 12:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I camped a hood for my enchanter today with my 45th level necro, and after 3 hours of clearing the trash in the area (bears, skeletons, fire beetles and lizard men) Quid finally graced me with his presence. He spawned on the paladin camp hill, on the side facing the ruins and the sphynx (I didn't get a direction when I noticed him). He walked towards the paladin camp at an angle, splitting the difference in direction between the gypsies and the orcs. Just before he got to the zone wall, he stopped and stood still. He conned dubious to me before I changed to skeleton form to regen mana quickly; he became KOS as soon as I changed forms. FYI, I am an Erudite, he may con differently to you depending on your race/class. He was blue to me at 45th.
