PHs are the "a lonely librarian" mobs in the room up the stairs from the Tome of the Fallen and Curator Majda.

He hits for a max ~9,300 and sees all forms of invisibility.

Glumb is the only mob i don't enjoy seeing up.. altho he does drop the Teir 2 chest remnant so he does help with gearing my various alts..

Fight is easy just gets hairy if too many adds show up since he loves to chain his DI-type spell.

One tip: If soloing with pure melee (i use my berserker to decap the bottom floor and Glumbs room) bring your Aged Staff of Null along or some other cancel magic item. His big DI spell takes 3-clicks of null staff (5 seconds each click.. but at least that cuts down his spell duration by half), and the 30-swing / spell absorb takes 1 click to debuff.. I just put on auto attack etc and as soon as i get the INVULNERABLE message i just click staff until he's getting struck. That way i dont waste endurance on special attacks trying to wear down the 30-attack absorb.
A Clue....

Rumor has it that he did it with a candlestick here, although I don't think anyone plays that game anymore lol...(yes I know the professor's real name wasn't Glumb)

Confirmed that any "a lonely librarian" can spawn Glumb. He does seem to summon help. I had mobs from other areas that I know do not usually wander into this part of the zone, namely a Curious Custodian. Seems like they are snared the way they walk. They do not run into the fight like they normally would, but do a slow walk into the camp area. Was able to eliminate this from happening by moving the camp to the area described in some of the other posts by the quest giver, and keeping the area inside the stacks cleared.. This seemed to stop the mobs form coming to assist.

Killed this guy tonight, I have one thing to add. when fighting him he did cast the above 2 spells, i just had my wizzy dispel it and then could cast until he got off another cast of it. The part I wanted to add, he seems to "summon" assistance. during the fight I had one mob come walking in to camp area and attack, this area has no roamers, when he was almost dead another mob casually walked into area and the assisted. I did not see this in any of the previous posts, so unsure if it was just my bad night or what.

hope this helps

In order to correct the madness that has been posted previously. Mob spawns on the floor that also holds the solo/group task givers. Varisa K'zen (Task Giver)is on the far North wall and her location provides a decent camp location. Pulling from that location, the mobs/PH's will be located on the North and east walls. The PH's are (lonely librarians) of which there are 3. I was able to pull most mobs without adds using a non damaging hate spell. Fighting in the little alcove holding the task giver is a safe location even with a mob spawning right outside. The mob has a special ability that basic stops the Tank from hitting him for 3 ticks....Other than that, he does not hit very hard and appeared to be one of the weakest named in the zone.

We camped at bottom of dead-end stairs on the west side, down from the landing with the task npc. Pulled all mobs along the west wall at top of steps from south to north corner, 2 mobs eastward along the northernmost aisle of books. Glumb spawned from the 2nd mob in.
Easy fight by 87 sk (5874ac unbuffed) with 87 sham/bot, 86 mage, 87 ranger and one merc healer. SK pulled mobs along aisle to the pher using Hate's Attraction/Death's Effigy aa combo without any trouble.
Dropped tier 2 wrist orb, 87 spell frag and new shield for sk. Mob didn't path around room as the bottom of landing was very confined. It did mem-blur each 25% and sk had to grab agro again quickly; but no pathers or adds nearby at bottom of stairs made it simple with a fast AE.

Spawns in the west most room on the lower floor, seen him pop in two different spots there, both near the southwest mission NPC. Every 25% health, he will go invulnerable and walk around the room and back, seems to be regardless of where he spawns. He usually wiped aggro, but not always (could be due to pets or mercs landing dots on him, though). Advisable to clear the room of other mobs before engaging him or he may train or summon you into adds. Dropped recondite t2 chest orb and bst/nec/mag earring with pet foci VI, forgot name.
