finally found it and is easy to identify with map. it is the large square room on far right of map.

I'm not 100% on this, but when I camped him for the glowing mask a few days ago (3-4 hour camp btw @ 16 minute respawn cycles), the froglok scryer can spawn in any of the 3 spawn areas (basically the 3 frogloks up top are PHs). I always thought it was the center one, but then the scryer spawned on the right side when I camped him. Dropped bracelet and glowing mask.
Don't know about every third spawn cycle; I kept the whole room clear for three hours and he never spawned at all. I just wanted a bracelet for the 0.2 seconds it cuts off the casting time for Feign Death (though the +3INT is quite decent too) and ended up buying it in the Bazaar... thirty minutes in Paineel killing guards got my money back. I already have Spell Haste II, but that doesn't reduce casting time on FD.
Still, I did get 10 swimming skill-ups in the center pool while waiting for the mobs to respawn :).

I camped this guy two days ago - he popped three times in two hours, seemded to be every 3rd spawn as someone else said. Just kept the upper area clear of shamans and no problem. Got two bracelets. Came back today and camped for two hours - cleared upper level at least 8 times - no scryer.

Would it be possible for a 29 Necro (with pet) to solo him or would I need a partner? From what I've read my pet should be ablt to handle the room. Thanks.

Yes you can. I have done this twice, once as a 29th level necro and attempted it again last night as a 24th necro.
The 29th necro had no problems, just shred the place with your pet. Keep the heals coming as you will sometimes get tanks and healers together, but the 29th pet should resist most of their spells and shred the area. The scryer never gave me a problem either, just sicced pet and let him eat him. Held the room and walked out with 3 bracelets (2 to use and another as the scryer repopped when I was trying to decide where I was going to go next)
With my 24th it was a different story, I was able to clear the entire room several times, I had some bad luck and died a couple of times, (mostly runners agroing the next room) but was always able to re-clear the room until the scryer popped. After that it was not possible. I am sure I can handle the scryer solo, but not with a minimum of 2 shammys on me as well.
Another thing I would like to suggest is that you use your level 1 disease cloud on yourself. I know this sounds silly, but it is one of the best spells against enchanters in the game. You cast the disease cloud (doing 1 hp damage per tick)on yourself and when the scryer mezzes you (which he will alot) it breaks the very next round as the 1 HP damage kicks in. :) The damage from the spell is tiny compared to being mezzed for 48 seconds 2-3 times a fight.
One other thing. Kill the scryer the first time. If you get beat, he will drop down onto the lower platform level. The danger in this is you will not be able to single pull (or even double or triple) pull the room. If you hit anything in the actual room all 5 mobs in the room come running. (the 2 on the far wall from the scryer will agro the scryer who will agro the 2 shammys on the top platform). at 24 I was never able to clear the room again after this. Your best bet when this happens is to ask one of the higher level guys passing through on their way to Lguk to kill him then you can restart.

Scryer seems to pop once out of every three spawn cycles if you keep the top area clean. He was blue to me at 28 and 29 which makes him 27 at toughest. Can cast all chanter spells as well as pet - he will put the damage absorb spell on himself, pet and surrounding frogs so hit him fast. He also charms you, although rather interestingly, he keeps you in the room rather than sending you running around Guk on a killing spree. With the exception of place holders, all frogs in area are green, although the shammans will attack you anyway.
Loot - killed him four times - got grass bracelet first three times and orb fourth time. You can't tell if he's got the orb - he doesn't hold it nor does he have a shield graphic. He hasn't had the mask yet.
I usually clean the room, then work the spiders upstairs then by then he or his placeholder are about ready to repop.

Could a lvl 26 monk take this guy?
Most likely - the place holders and everyone else in the room are wimps - just gotta hope that he's not up when you get there or the shammys will heal him on you.

We, 18 Wizard, 19 enchanter, 17 magician, 16 cleric and 15 shadow knight camped the Scryer room this afternoon. It was a really hectic fight now and then and we all died once when one of the froggies got away and got help. In about 3 hours we got it to spawn 4 times and we got 3 bracelets , 1 orb and 2 masks. When you fight with a group this low level, you really need an enchanter for crowd control. Also make sure you root every frog you're fighting so they can't get away.
I didn't have this much fun in EQ in a long time.

i hunted in Upper Guk for about 6 hours one day, and since it was dead in the zone i camped the scryer, giant heart spider and the froglok squire all at once. when i first found the scryer i didnt even know he had a good drop, but when i took him down i got a woven grass bracelet, and then 15 minutes later he was up again so i knocked his block off a second time. after that a bard came and asked if he could camp it, so i let him. the scryer didnt pop for about 9 hours that he was there. i guess i just got really really lucky on that one. (btw i was a 30war at the time)

All I know is I walked in there with my 35 wizard and he was standing there. Rooted, stunned, and blasted. I got the braclet of woven grass and the mask. My involved time with him? 23.2 seconds :)

From time that he poped to the time that he died, a little over 6 secs passed. Only prob was getting him started. I must have killed five or six PH's before he pop'd three times in a row. He dropped an Orb the first time and then two bracelets.
I was going to stay and see if he would pop four times in a row, but decided I had all I needed and left.

There is only one placeholder, the other mobs in the room have nothing to do with him (but they will heal him, so it's best to keep the platform clear). The Scryer pops just to the left of the stairs leading up to the platform. His placeholder is a variety of things, mostly vis/shin/tuk/gaz shamans, but I've heard of others as well. The spawn is like 17 minutes, and the scryer may or may not be the one to pop. In five kills, he popped three times. Dropped the orb, two bracelets, and a mask. I was even charmed once for about 10 seconds...hehe.

17 minute spawn was very accurate. I have on thing to add to all these other posts though: this guy does not spawn as easily as some of these people led me to believe! Folks, I kept the raised stage area clear for THREE HOURS before I finally saw him. Might have been 3:15 actually. I got really tired of camping this room. My 31 wizard finally got the mask I was after and gated out. Thank Tunare I'll never have to camp him again!

Bah I'm a 31 Mage and the Scryer's popped for me alot. I've gotten about 5 bracelets, an Orb and the mask which I'm hoping to multi-quest with a guildee or something. But I've had him pop twice in a row a couple times...separated by one PH...guess I've been lucky. I see him quite a bit. Except for the other night 5 PHs popped in a row...was the longest I've waited for him *shrug*
If you're a mage tho it's a good idea to use your earth pet to keep the frogs from fleeing and aggroing more mobs on ya.

I say this guy spawn once and we were there for about an hour so that wasn't bad. However he didnt drop the Mask. He did drop an Orb and he didnt pop until everything in the just about everything else in the room had popped too. He does charm well and with 4 other froggies on your group it sucks when he gets your tank. Though does any one know how often he drops the mask or is it just better to camp the Skelly Monk????

Im a 31 druid and scryer went down in 2 blasts about 348 dmg, not too big but is a enchanter and tryed to charm me to no avail, a 30 anything should easily handle room, unless your an incompotent lout

I've had little trouble controlling the room as a 28th level Monk, though I do time every other spawn to be dead when the Scryer spawns.. Nothing worde than being charmed in a room full of things that don't like you.

Yup you heard me. Verant sealth nerfed the spawn time on Scryer! I thought it was a mistake, so i petitioned it and a guide told me it was nerfed. The new spawn for scryer is: 15min to 6 hours. You might be lucky. Dammit! I was so pissed to hear that!! The froglok scryer was my gold egg net! I make ALOT of money selling the shimmering orb! ugh. just as i found out about that nerf, I just stopped hunting him. just dissapointed in verant for doing such a thing.. *sigh* there was a high elf wizard that was camping him and he said it was ove 20+ place holders and no sight of Scryer. Pretty sad isnt it? =( if you got a scryer, you're lucky!

The only quest item I know of is the glowing mask.. which drops commonly off the Skelital Monk, and has no faction hit with the frogs.. probably a better way.. I've taken him 6 times with friends on various quests, and never found him camped, or heard of him being camped..

Well considering the great items he drops.. The bracelet is one of the best items for lower level wizards to get, it's not that strange that they adjusted the spawn times a bit..

Yep. you are right. have camped scryer for 3 hours now and he has not popped even once. sigh. i am not a farmer. i just came to get the mask for the enchanter quest. nice way to fk enchanters by nerfing the scyer thereby making it near impossible to get the incandescent mask.
It's the farmers fault why drops get nerfed by Verant. Unfortunately it punishes those who don't farm the item as well.
I think Verant should find other alternatives to punishing farmers, like building a kill hit table for a player who has killed a certain mob a certain number of times.

In five hours of camping several spawns including scryer, he popped for me twice. First time he had the bracelet, the second he was carrying the orb.

Actually, you can finish that enchanter quest by getting the mask off the Monk, near tempus in the hidden cave.

Easy way to put a stop to the farming problem... Instead of messing with spawn times, just make ALL named spawns like this drop nothing but LORE NO DROP items. ;)
I would agree with that. I don't think everything should be lore no drop but many more things could be.

Camped two hours, the place holder is just to the left of the stairs up to the dias. The time is 16-18 minutes, scryer has poped once in the that time. The place holders have been a vis shaman, ton knight, ton warrior, and most common-ton shaman.

A group of 6 characters, including myself, camped the dias for about 3 hours. The Scryer spawned once in that time and dropped a grass bracelet. We basically kept everything cleared in the general area...including a few heart spiders down the hall.
I would agree that I would like to see this guy pop up a little more often. However our group of 17 and 18th level characters averaged about a bubble of experience an hour with reasonable loot for everyone. If you have to camp a rare spawn, at least this one will keep you entertianed.

man this was a frustrating camp. It was the only decent one open so i figure i would give it a try. Maybe a few placeholders but eventually it will spawn. NOT the case. 15 placeholders so i just gave up but i also checked back with the guy who took over and he asnt having any luck either. I would much appreciate it to spawn often and maybe not drop an item every time, i didnt even see him and i was camping the damn thing.

can somone verify the lvls of the froglocs around this guy? and can a lvl 30paladin break spawn and hold it (if you done know paladins get root at22 heal (80hp) and soothe (wich is upgrade of lull)) can i take it? or should i get my RL lvl 27 rogue to help me? but i prefer to solo it

The Bracelets of woven grass are common and the orb is random i believe but the mask is rare..of course my lucky lvl 30 mage friend looted a bracelet and the mask at his first try at camping him.then looted the orb the second..lucky little gnome he is :)

Uhh, i camped this guy with 4 ppl in the group, he didn't spawn once, and i thought that we had the wrong spot, but from how you guys are describing it we had the EXACT spot, and Dudoria the answer to your question is no, lol sorry.

well contrary to popular belief that he wont spawn if you are on the platform I was sitting on his spawn spot and he spawned 2 times in a row. Out of 3 spawns he dropped 2 braclets and 1 orb in 3 hours camp time.He also had 2 masks on him which are for Wizard and enchanter quests.

You only need to clear the one spawn that has a ton/shin/vis guy. The two gaz that spawn up on the platform should also be killed; they heal him. The glowing mask is also for the Acumen Mask wizard quest

i killed him 8 times in a group and 7 times he dropped an orb, we could not even loot the last one, we auctioned it off in the zone. )

I camped the room for about two hours and never saw the Scryer spawn. I was clearing the frogs in the immediate area, but was leaving the mobs in the outer room alone. Does one need to kill these frogs also in order for the Scryer to spawn?

The orb is not rare. It's just random. I got 4 orbs in a row! Unfortunely it's lore and i let other player loot the orb. Also, he drop glowing mask for enchanter quest too. BTW, he charm GOOOD!
