My bard saw this while standing inside the NK keep. Dumb puppy walked straight into the keep towards the bridge (no one running by being chased), and was promptly killed by the guards.

It's called population control. Have you seen the numbers of wolves in the Karanas. You can't find a rabbit anywhere because of wolves. They need to be culled. :)

LvL 12 Ranger at this point, with these sleves creating a sparkle in my eyes. the AC is the same as Bone Plate...3 less STR, but no neg DEX (get +2 CHA instead). Plus, the fact that he's a lower lvl spawn makes him even more enticing. my only questions are:
If killing wolves is the only way to create a spawn, about how many kills might it take? if its a normal spawn, whats the time in between spawns?
Also, how often does the darn thing drop the sleves?
Well, it is obvious that this guy spawns in NK, now. I received my sleeves from a wolf that attacked me about 2 years ago in West Karana. I was sitting just south of T2 near the big rock when he jumped me. Could not have been very high since I we were fighting spiders and lions. I dont even remember what level I was. I had a warrior friend with me and the lil puppy was promptly disposed of. Didn't even get his name. Could this be the same critter or has anyone else ever seen Ashenpaw in WK?
My level 13 ranger killed him easily and he was blue to me... Hit the same as most of the other silvermist wolves, wasnt hard at all. Level range must be off.
As a 41 ranger (whom most wolves love), I was surprised to be attacked by a low-level green wolf. After dispensing of this disturbed wolf, I scrolled up to count his hit points and get an idea of his level. He had about 300 hit points, so I hope this gives you a better idea of his level.
I was at druid ring the other night soloing boerer beetles when this guy aggroed on me. I was lvl 21 at the time and he conned green to me. I was a little affraid of a undercon at first but almost had the beetle so decided to finish it off. After the beetle I was oom and started to mellee him. He went down with no problem and I looted the sleeves off of him. Since I had only leather sleeves at the time these were great! I was suprised that such a low lvl mob dropped such a nice item. After asking around nobody seemed to have heard of him or the sleeves so I thought I got very lucky being at the right place at the right time. Claudious Crassus Druid of the 22nd season Order of the Crimson Banner
I killed him last week and recieved the superb wolf pelt, does anyone know what its for? can i make the sleeves with a sleeve pattern? any aid would be appreciated
I heard you combine a supurb wolf, cat and bear hide and get a 12 slot 100% weight reducing backpack... i personally dont believe it but its what i heard...
also i heard the supurb pelts drop off the named creature of that type
I have all 3 superb skins. I tried to combine them together, tried to combine them seperate with a backpack pattern, tried to combine them all together with a backpack pattern. Nothing worked. Said, These items can not be combined in this type of container. So, I tried a oven, pottery wheel, and a forge, nothing worked.
Saw him tonight a bit north of the gypsies. He's definitely not 16-20, as he has about 200-230 hps.
Got a superb wolf pelt from him; has anyone figured out the use of this? Since it's not nodrop and not a lore item, I suppose it's for tailoring. Has anyone tried to make anything from this yet?
Ashenclaw is most definitely not 16-19. At the time of Ashenclaws death I was only level 14 (so he's gotta be 12-15 at the most). He is KOS to druids and when he attacks you, you'd better make sure no NPC druids are around. I took him real easy and he had a silvermist wolf to back him up.
At the time he was a Low Blue Con (which means he could've been high 12 or low 13 at the time, and he ran like a chicken when I got him down to 1/4 life. The dog hit's for around 25 when he sees you (big surprise, almost everything in NK hits for 25 at the minimum), drops both Supurb Quality Wolf Pelt and Wolf Meat, is KOS to Druids, and because of his nature Druid NPCs and the Silvermist Wolves of the zone will come to defend him (Even IF he attacks you first).
So watch it. He spawns near the druid ring (I've run into the little twit three times now, the last two were in the center of the ring so I promptly got my *** handed to me by the NPC druids).
Ashenpaw and Swiftclaw - named Wolf and Lion NPCs in North Karana - spawn only after someone kills lots and lots and lots of wolves or lions. Between Callowwing (named griffawn) and Grimfeather (named griffon) making guest apperances, as well as the named treant, the named ghoul, etc, I can only assume there's a named grizzly bear somewhere in there ...
I am Lvl. 22 and he coned green to me also, easy kill. He dropped a superb pelt. Sold it to a vendor for about 7gp. I spent about 30 hours in 4 days in NK & that was the 1st time I saw him.
Was waiting in N Karana for a griffene charm to complete lambent quest, and saw a 40th lvl druid track and kill Ashenpaw. He /con green to me at level 19, so the level range is either more flexible than listed here or he is a lower level now.
