The mangy rats spawn when the undead hill on the high side of the thicket spawns a zombie or mummy.

I killed one of these things in N. Qeynos. The MOB was jerking around pretty good though, so I'm not sure if it was just a bug or that was actually supposed to be there.
BTW, it dropped a rat head.

Its for a quest, just hail the guy downstairs, he will ask you to kill it and return the head as proof of your deed.

i saw A mangy rat in kith forest today and it aggroed on my level 30 mage. it conned green and died from the 180 damage nuke i got off. only loot was a rat tooth and rat ear. If you know anything more, pls post.

i was running back to the halfling guards in misty with a train of spiders and firebeatles at level 2, and one of these mangy rats started attacking the firebeatles, and saved my life!

These things are also found in Qeynos Hills. Not only will they aggro PC's, they also aggro other MoB's... I started a HUM RNG recently and was fighting a large rat in QH right outside the Glade, when a mangy rat walked by, aggroed on the large rat, killed it and then aggroed on me. I had to run to guards... angry little rodents.

i have never seen one of these in misty thicket...have you??

I've seen and killed several of these in Misty Thicket. I didn't notice any faction changes... according to the faction chart its suposed to drop faction with different groups. Is this true.

Yup I found one dead opposite the Rivevale entrance to the Thicket. It was attacking a wolf, so I waited, then killed it with a Strike and a blow from my mace.
All I got for my trouble was a little disease and a rat's paw.

These mangy rats can be deadly to a low level halfling wandering around this fabled forest. They are aggressive, do good damage, and disease you. If you happen to see an odd colored, grayish rat, and are only a level 1 or 2 halfling, you had best be wary. The large rats are much easier to kill, and better xp. The only real reason to kill them is for revenge---if they jumped you early on.
