Be sure not to fight him while standing still as he will just heal himself and it will be very hard to kill him unless you have a very large nuke handy. Rooting him is not advised. A good solo strategy is to keep him running around either while DoTted or with a pet beating on him from behind. Magicians shouldn't use earth pets, naturally, because of their root spell. Bow kiting may also be an option. The key is to keep him moving so he never has time to get off a heal. He doesn't heal himself while he is chasing you, so he will die eventually. For those where big nukes or kiting are not options then you are going to have a rough time with him unless your DPS is high enough to outpace his heals, otherwise you will need to bring some friends along.

Regis cons Light Blue at 38 Found 7 of him on tracking so went to have a look ,could only see 1 so pulled him with snare,as he came out from trees i noticed the next one, killed the first then started on the next,,killed all 7 snared each time no adds..The only reason i found this guy was that i was curious to see why the same name mob was appearing on my tracking 7 times...
Zoned in from EK after farming some silks, tracked ten Regis the Reverent's.
Walked up to the spawn point, unbuffed, when all ten attacked, he hits pretty hard, when he has nine buddies, even for a level 53.
I zoned back to EK, when I came back 7 of them were lined up on the bridge, the other three not too far off, harmonied, killed one, left it to rot and went on my way.
As a Ranger I was able to track this guy to a hillside near a tree (Northern part of zone I think). Not very easy to see so unless he wanders some you have to look pretty hard (never did find Kathy-Lee). Anyway if I spot him again I'll provide coords.
One thing to note is that this guy is sloooowwww. I used root/snare/DoT/nuke with the bow between all spells and had him down to ½ health before root broke, so I rooted again laughing at the simplicity of this kill (he was DB to my 29 Ranger), when he healed himself back to ¾ health. I took him down in the end and was still ¾ health myself. Got the ingot and the flute which are absolutely no use to my class and are no drop. XP was OK, but not worth the trip to NK unless Kathie-Lee the Clueless spawns with him. Besides I don't want to chance litigation by ABC.
Bottom line is unless you are a Cleric or a Bard this guy is not worth the effort.

I killed this bugger tonight on Povar. Dark Blue to a 31 Paly. Had Ghoulbane with DEX of 86, proc'd three times for about 500 damage total. He dispelled my Center spell. When he gets low on HP, he casts Healing on himself. All in all fairly easy fight. Took less than 5 minutes. He dropped the ingot and the flute. Oh yeah, I had to lay hands b/c he kept healing himself, but still not too bad a fight.
He also drops a bag of troll guts, and is used for a Bard quest that starts with Fabian in East Freeport. submitted the quest for update, but until then see below. Note that as a side effect, you can feed Fabian 2gp to increase bard faction (and others)
Starts with Fabian in East Freeport, in a tavern near the soulbinder
Fabian says 'Greetings, merry gentlefolk! If you enjoy the music, please feel free to cross my palm with gold.'
[give him 2 gold, found by trial and error]
Fabian says 'Rat spittle! Busted another string! You seem like a good music loving citizen, could you please run to the Wind Spirit's Song and grab me a fresh set of lute strings?' Your faction standing with League of Antonican Bards got better. Your faction standing with Knights of Truth got better. Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got better. Your faction standing with Ring of Scale got worse. Your faction standing with Mayong Mistmoore got worse.
[Wind Spirits Song is in South Qeynos]
You say, 'Hail, Sansa Nusk' Sansa Nusk says 'Hello.. Welcome to the Wind Spirit's Song. I'm Sansa, and I help out the local bards here.'
You say, 'who is fabian?' Sansa Nusk says 'Ahh - jolly Fabian. He is one of our best customers! That is, of course, due to the fact that he has the heaviest fingers of any bard I know. Anyhow, down to business. I assume he sent you for a new set of strings. Unfortunately, I have not been able to procure any of the special - uhh - things needed to make his strings lately.'
You say, 'what special things' Sansa Nusk says 'Uhh - ummm - uhhh - Fabian does not know this, but his strings are - uh - made of - uh - troll gut.'
You say, 'where do I get troll guts?' Sansa Nusk says 'Well, Fabian likes the thick resonance that only troll gut strings can provide. Trouble is, trolls are scarce around these parts, thank the gods, but Fabian breaks his strings as fast as I find suppliers. Trolls sometimes wander the Karanas in search of food but that is so rare, to see one there. Anyhow, if you find one out in the Karanas, bring me his gut and I can make the strings to take to Fabian.'
[troll guts drop off Zahil the Vile in North Karana]
[hand in troll guts] Sansa Nusk says 'Good work! Now have you the rest of what I require?'
[sigh. she never said she wants anything else. Trial and error found that 1pp works]
Sansa Nusk says 'I am not even going to bother asking where you got that. Just take this set I already made and hurry them back to Fabian.'
Your faction standing with League of Antonican Bards got better. Your faction standing with Knights of Truth got better. Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got better. Your faction standing with Ring of Scale got worse. Your faction standing with Mayong Mistmoore got worse. You gain experience!!
[Recieved Lute Strings]
[back to East Freeport, and hand in Lute Strings to Fabian]
Fabian says 'Many thanks, merry gentlefolk! Let me cross your palm in gratitude for your kindness.' Your faction standing with League of Antonican Bards got better. Your faction standing with Knights of Truth got better. Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got better. Your faction standing with Ring of Scale got worse. Your faction standing with Mayong Mistmoore got worse. You gain experience!! You receive 20 silver from Fabian. You receive 10 gold from Fabian. You receive 1 platinum from Fabian.
I bagged this ugly bugger at 25 last night. I had to zone when I first pulled him since I had a pet and it turned on me (I'm a druid soloer and he was yellow) but I found out how to nail it. Here's the Kiter's trick to bagging this annoying self healing undead while keeping as much mana as possible and avoiding the werewolf hunters and guards.
Snare him, root him (he can break root pretty fast so watch yourself this is just to buy time), DOT, get in a few DD but when you get at 2 bubs health DO NOT ROOT.
If you do he will start a heal cycle that is hard to break, unless you are or have a good meleer but as another player said he appears to have no mana limit and is a fast cast, and the hunt will just take longer. The trick is to keep him slow but moving.
At 2 bubs check to make sure the DOT and snare are still active, now let the root wear out. And your off! The best place to head for is the area where the beetles roam in the western area. It's flatest and freest of trees with only the odd bug, cat, and griffawn to worry about but if you can hunt Regis they shouldn't be bothering you. Once you're on the move change your perspective(F9) so you can see yourself AND Regis so you don't have to turn around, stay just far enough ahead to offer a single cast window but not too far or he will stop to heal before persuing after you. In this way DOT is your friend, just run him out by going a bit out let him catch up, sitting to recoup mana if you like, until the DOT melts away his health cause if you look tempting enough he will not stop to heal. Keep your leash short and you shouldn't have to cast more than a handful of spells.
Happy Undead bashing =)

Killed ol' Reeg just like ABC killed "Who Wants t be a Millionaire" the other day, and he dropped a "Bag of Troll Guts" along with the Flute and the Ingot. Can't find anything about this item (all/all, looks like standard quest item faire). Anyone have any idea about this?
THis little dead mofo is quite a pain in the back side if you are oom, he just loves to heal himself and for some reasom has no limit to his mana. MUST BE NICE ! So ..if your gona do some kiteing with this guy avoid the wearwolf hunters (they will kill him) and save some mana for a few direct nukes.
I conned even to him at 27, so he 27 not 28. Well anyways I was wasting time in the karanas and zoned from east to north karana to find fun mobs to kill and happened upon this guy on my track list. I am a ranger so I snared him and did my weak 37 damage nuke on him till he got in melee range, after you get him about below half he freaking starts trying to heal himself, and will do so till he finally makes him feel alot better, that brings him to above half easily from 1/4, I think i will keep trying him till i finally bring him down

Here is what the loot from this little pain is for. I don't know why it does not have a link for it, but I hope this helps.
"""You need the ingot and icon of Reverent and 2 bars of enchanted platinum (not stacked). Speak with a Gypsy named Lianna Ferasa in the Rathe Mts. Ask her what has become of Regis the Reverent and she will tell you that he was killed in the N Karanas by an evil man named Zahal the Vile. She says if you go kill Zahal the Vile, Regis' body will rise from the dead where he was killed along the NE tree line of the zone. She also asks that if he has her flute on his body to bring it to her. Zahal the Vile is a ghoul around level 30 or so who spawns in the NE part of NK. Use sense undead to find him. When you kill Zahal, Regis will appear at the tree line. He is a zombie. You need to kill him and loot his corpse to get the ingot and the flute. Take the flute back to Lianna in the Rathe Mts. and she will give you the Icon."""
All right. I recently killed this guy, and got a flute. Well, I've had my share of items you can equip as intruments, but don't that aren't associated with the instrument skill. Is this another one like that (ie, flute mouthpiece, raw bamboo, broken minotaur lord's horn, and that newbie quest lute in Qeynos)? So, either this really is a wind instrument, or it's a quest item. Anyone tried taking this to Regis's gypsy lover, who I gathered is named Liana, incidentally?
I killed this guy this morning because he had a flute on him. Is this a quest item of some kind? The name of it is Liana's flute. i could not find anything on this No Drop flute. If you know plz give me a reply =)
I helped a Cleric friend do the bracer quest and this is what I found out.
1. When Zahal pops, dont bother going and killing him, he is KOS to every NPC in the zone and will also aggro on everyone he sees, so its likely that he will be dead within minutes without your assistance. You can tell when he has popped from the shouts of terror from the other players in the zone. This is your cue.
2. When Regis pops, straight after Zahal dies, be ready to drag him away from any NPCs nearby. The werewolf hunters are often close when he pops and will aggro on him very quickly. The Cleric I was helping could have easly killed him on her own but with 2 people there we killed him in about 25 seconds and the hunters arrived only 20 to 30 seconds after that. So KILL HIM QUICKLY! No DoTs, Nukes all the way.
3. Regis is a caster, but did so little magic damage to us there was no need to worry, he was snared so I dont know how hard he can melee.
4. Spawn time is a tough one. We sort of came to the conclusion that he only spawns at EQ night, but I am not 100% on that. From what I have heard he spawns every 4 to 5 hours. We first saw him at about 10.00pm GMT (KSd by hunters that time) and then he popped again at 2.50am GMT.
5. Regis spawns in the treeline directly north of the Druid circle, he pops just up the slope in a clump of about 5 trees just to the right of the Withered Treant. I will add an exact loc if I can.
I hope this helps anyone doing this quest, and remember, you have to di it TWICE to get the full set... ENJOY!
on #4 he is a spawned by a PH, Zahal the Vile. HE is only up at night that I've seen. As for Regis I found him at the tree on the steep slope right where you mentioned in the middle of the day.
But then it could have been an aborted attempt to take him cause that'll keep a undead out in the day or maybe it's just the corpse of trees was so dark (no pun intended)

I found a double regis spawn yesterday, didn't kill zahal, just found regis with sense the dead, but there were two of them. Has anyone had that happen before? See the link for the bracer quest for a more detailed post on the double spawn.
Regis the reverent was a human cleric in life, and was killed by zahal the vile. A gypsy named lianna ferasa (sp?) in rathe mt. will tell you the story. He is now undead, but still carries his name from life. Also, the dwarf clric in Sol ro temple will tell you a bit about him.
I was camping him earlier today. Went and killed Zahal went back to where Regis spawned and he wasn't there? But some other NPC's were standing there and they had beat me to him it seemed. Don't remember the names but was four of them all different races, barbarian, gnome, and I forget the others. I was soooooo PO'ed. Why did this happen?
Actually they won't kill Regis, but if you try to kill Regis when they are around they'll kill you. I watched in horror as my cleric friend tried to kill him, and they all came flying over to help. Also he was bound right there so when he popped back in Regis agroed, and brought his friends again to help. It wasn't a pretty sight.
I'm not sure what happened to your poor friend, but the werewolf hunters will kill Regis if he gets too close. I had them steal him the first time I tried to do the Bracers of the Reverent quest.
Allisia Autumnrain of The Archangel Druid of Tunare in the 30th Season Tholuxe Paells
Yesterday, I logged on (had logged in NK), and did an /ooc to ask if either Zahal or Regis were about. I got a reply back, from a person saying he had just killed Zahal, because he had been in the way. He wasn't after Regis, so I moved to his location as fast as I could, and had 3 guild members join me. I was a lvl 28 Cleric, and the others were a lvl 27 Druid, and two warriors, lvl 27 and 29. I was 28, and he conned blue to me, so he could be no more than 27.
Anyway, we threw some major damage his way, and he managed to heal himself once from near death to slightly over half life again (the irony of a Zombie healing himself was funny), but other than that, he didn't cast much magic. When he went down, we had lost a total of 3 red bubs of life, without healing done - he doesn't hit that hard.
The hardest about him, I guess, is that it might take a while before he goes down. You must either have a large damage output, or prevent all his healing. Regardless, at my level of 28, I don't think I could have solo-ed him.
Don't bother hunting Zahal the Vile. He is aggro to just about everything in the zone and some other creature will do the dirty work for you.
Now here is the trick: Just like any other rare mob, Zahal the Vile will spawn when the servers come back up after an EQ patch. So, when you know there is a scheduled downtime, camp near Regis' spawn point. As soon as the servers come back up, log on and wait for some wandering mob or NPC to kill Zahal for you and Regis will spawn in front of you. Kill him quickly. I stress ~quickly~ since he is an undead former paladin, he can use lay-on-hands and do a complete heal if you give him the chance.
This trick works. After today's patch, I signed on and there was Regis waiting with a big bow on him (not literally of course). Something had already killed Zahal.

i spotted Regis aagian n the same spot, he is at the very north hillside, if you stand at loc1381.72,-1321.09, he is up the hill to your right around some trees. Stands on the slope
Is yellow to my 26th druid he sits on the zone border to the right side as you come straight out from the link bridge. he is a CLERIC he was NOT 29 did nto have the high damage spell for that rank of cleric but that darn 300 pt heal STINKS!!!! on the wrong side of course. -----------------------------------------------------------------
