Cloak of Shadows
Large Soiled BagI am an old school bag collector, and any character I play must have a large soiled bag. Its just a preference to days gone by.
First a couple things about Guano.
1 - He pops in Bats near the pounding stone. Up the path from the stone trap is a bat in an alcove. To the immediate right is a path that leads into a little room with 2 bat spawns. Guano will pop right in this area.
2 - He immediately invis's himself and while the bats will aggro you if your standing around, Guano will NOT.
3 - Guano roams, so if you dont kill him on spawn, he will roam around and unless you track you will not know he is up.
My guide to camping him.
1 - If you have the plat to fund it. Just park yourself and your merc right in middle of bats. If your relatively high enough (I was 60) your merc will just kill them and you ignore them.
2 - Set up an audio trigger with the phrase "Guano Harvester" as he casts invis right upon spawning. Set it very loudly and you will know when he pops. This leaves you to do other things in RL like work or laundry.
3 - When your trigger goes off, RUN ! KILL ! LOOT !...then if bag drops..gate away very happy 8)
In any event. I camped the Guano not knowing if he was still around as it had been a few years since I needed one.
I camped him yesterday and today for a total of about 13 hours. I was beginning to think he had been taken out of game, but he finally popped the first time about 9 hours or so into it.
He gave me his old cloak (the rare drop I was NOT wanting). Sooooo back to a camping for it. About 3 hours later he popped again and dropped my new bag! Happy days.
For those of you wondering why I find his bag so useful its because it holds lots and lots of ORE. It may be small item bag, but ore is tiny/small and fit nicely in it.
That and not many folks running around have old school stuff like the bag. Its a nice link item / conversation piece.

Running around Sol B with some alts last night 9/10/06. This guy was up and dropped the soiled bag. Being small items only kind of sucks, but I guess he's not going to scoop the poop in a giant bag.

I have camped this mob for last month haven't seen it. I am a wizzy so always have see invis up [ Familar is see invis buff ].

I dropped this guy this morning & all he had was a "large bag" with no weight reduction. I will kill him again & see if he no longer drops the soiled bag.

Was farming a while back and doing AA's at the entrance to the bat area when this guy jumps me. Very easy kill. no prob for a 55 pally. He dropped the bag which i have since used frequently for farming ore. If he would have left me alone i would have never known he was there LOL!

Was plvling a friend in sol b we were killing bats and this goblin walks by never seen him before aggroed me when I sat down. Killed him he dropped the bag. Nice bag!
Got him today, he seems to wander around a lot.Took me a while to seperate him from other mobs, sorry for all the trains to the people at sol a line =/. Anyway, dropped bag and im happy.

LOL guano harvester huh? Id hate to have his job. Wonder what they do with the guano there aint much light down there in those caves so it can't be for fertilizer.

Bad news, these servers are very small. Word of ninja looters does get around and people do get reputations. And once you got a rep, if you are lfg, the first topic of conversation is: No, I dont think we want that guy, he ninja looted on me last month and logged.
The fake LD also doesn't work. If you go LD only once a night, everyone knows what happened if you go LD 15 seconds after looting a good drop or before paying for an MQ.

Thought so too. Actually its not right. The bag at least is not magical and dropped for us, even though he was very green.

No, he'll drop items regardless of level, they did away with trivial loot code (although I don't think it was ever present in this zone). However I think there is still trivial loot code on Firiona Vie server (roleplaying server) so you'd have to be low level on that server.
Oddly enough.... jsut had it drop on a VERY high level group.... most odd....

i have camped bats many times and i have seen him pop not invis like 3 times
He probably pops visible, then casts invis on himself... this is how how a lot of 'invis' mobs do it...

i was in a group campin the BnB room, was there about an hour when he poped i didnt know what he was for so we killed, drops cloak of shadows. i was using a kunzar cloak so im sittin there drooling but i lost roll by one. so im sittin there feelin bad when he pops again about 30 mins later. DROPS THE CLOAK AGAIN!! and i lost roll by one AGAIN! i was so pissed, but i havent won anything since prolly a fine steel wepon at dervs so i am WAY over due for a killer score. its gonna happen some day.

A guy came into Sol B a couple of weeks ago and was going to hunt this guy. If you are going to go after him the best way is to get yourself a map of Sol A and come in the zone that is right behind where he spawns. The zone is pretty deep in Sol A but it is alot easier than fighting your way to him like that poor monk was trying to do.

When I came back, there he was sitting right in front of me! (Non invis too) whacked him quick, now I have 3 100% wt red bags, woot! (on dragon bag, one tink bag, and one soiled)

I have been trying to hunt this guy for some time. I have used Bracer of the Hidden (See invis effect: triggered, and the Qeynos badge of honor (untriggered see invis effect) and I still cannot see him. Am I bugged or am I doing something wrong? Let me know please.

well, I'm not sure if he was just bugged on the day that I went to farm him, but I had the same problem with my monk, so I brought in my druid to track him.... he tracked to waayyyy over by king room walking back and forth.... so either he's a wanderer, or, as I say, was bugged at that point... I'll update when I get more info

Speaking of Firiona Vie and trivial loots. Was in there just an hour ago and Guano boy showed. Anyhow we cleared a path to him and had a 24 druid self port into lava and showed her in. Path cleared, drew him down to her....he was LIGHT BLUE to a level 24 druid. So he is by no means level 25 and yes in this zone, on this server it is very difficult to actually have someone come in and get this that is low enough to do it. He dropped the bag.

I am lvl 43 warr, was in King room and my cleric heard Guano casting a spell. Got a see invis and went on a mad rush to find him. Found him in the bat room near the chomping stone 2 or 3 rounds and he took off running. Was gonna keel him even if he ran straight to Naggy hehe. Few more hits ded, got the bag. woulda luved the cloak though

Posted: Jan 20 2002 at 5:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ive seen and killed the GH many times he is not as rare as you'd think unfortunatly i have yet to see this cloak drop and any melee class below 45 you will die if you attack him but should be able to kill him and loot before the ldcs/bats take you down make sure to have a bag slot open for quick looting ive lost several bags because i was dead before i had time to get it so moral is root him or else you hit him a few times and he takes off down the lefthand hall in bnb, even if you didnt have aggro on you before youll find something ) or if your camping bnb hes yours )

this is actually a VERY rare spawn. on the other hand, it is completely (rarely) random, so he could spawn twice in 10 minutes, or he could spawn once in a wekk. completely random

Why ask a question like that? He is a level 25, for all practical purposes, if you do not feel you can handle a NPC almost 20 levels below you then you should give all of your equipment to a noobie and go play Nintendo.

Was pulling to our group from the Champion Room on Xev the other night (Nov 6, 2001) and went to go get a bat. I saw them stuck in the ceiling and asked the grouped how do I get them down. With Taunt they said. Great. So I walked around the corner and who do I see, Mr. Green Guano himself, along with two bats. I wanted to make sure I whacked him before he went invis which i was afraid he was going to do. After many stuns and whirls courtesy of the bats, I was able to guide all 3 to my awaiting party where we quickly dispatched the harvester and eventually the two bat brothers as well. He dropped the cloak much to my dismay, but it was still a great rush!

in a bnb group, im pulling(52sk) and whatdyaknow theres guano (popped in the back by the lava, kinda near the lava beetle room) i instantly kill him with ht, drops the bag i lose roll of course hehe. then , about 20mins later he walks right into our camp, we kill him . dropped kos, i lose roll again. then about 2hrs later we moved to SS and i hear him casting, i run back to bnb, ht him and cos drops, and i lose roll again!!! hehe our group then disbanded but this proves that he is very random not rare

Got mine today. Group leader disbanded group cause he ahd to leave...someone said they were in BnB (thats where i was with remainder of group) so i wanted to see where they were...i went out to the little area inbetween left and right bnb and the named area...and they are standing there. Next thing i know...a little red goblin is walking in the hall (i have only shaman buffs and a few cleric buffs no see invis) and i immediatly atatck. sucka dropped the CoS and i wasted him so fast i wasnt funny. about 5-10seconds with duo lammy (no fbss) and being a warrior i wear this with pride.

i killed this guy twice in one day, got both lots.
before that i had only seen him one othre time and sence i killed him twice i haven't seem him sence. so he is more random then rare.

I was in the Champion room trying to get into a group as per usual, and got the message that he was casting a spell. Imediatly i cast see invis on self and ran around to the bat area.
There he was invis but didnt agro me, i cast root on him, 250 nuke with stun that broke his root and he started running..rooted again nuked and he died, he droped the cloak of the Shadows, with +13 dex it thought i would be nice for my alt warrior, then i looked up the price on eqprices..OMG 18K rated super rare for a moments work.

Enter sol b the back way, thru sol a. This puts you right around the corner from the sonic bat room, where the harvester presumably spawns. Cast deadeye (46 sk). Sit there...kill bats...sit there...kill bats...sit there...
Eventually, if he shows, i HT him, to prevent him from running around and aggroing every mob in the place. The HT should kill him instantly. Will let you all know if this works.

We where going to form 2 groups for efferti(however you spell) Anyways and where at the ent. One of our members got 3 bats on him and needed help. Well I saw this sucker spawn right in front of me and either I had some kind of see invis on me(I dont think I did) or he spawns univis. all I know is that he quickly went uninvis. I alrdy had him targeted though and started beating the crap out of him. I was a lvl 44 warrior and my wurmslayer did a nice job and he was dead pretty quick. Sense my group was me the warrior 2 shamans and 1 ench 1 mag, I got the cloak. I wear it with pride now:)

From personal research, I can say that this SOB spawns somewhat randomly around the bat/bug area of SolB. Basically, im pretty sure that any SonicBat can be his PH. So, peeps in SS room and Bat1,Bat2 have much better chances.

EQ atlas puts this sucker right at the zone to sol a is that correct and does he move around after he spawns? I know alot of questions but does he spawn visable and cast invis or does he spawn invis?

He spawns uninvis and casts invis on himself. I know this because ive seen him do it. Be warned he cast invis on himself in the first 2 secs so I you see him spawn target him quick.

Saw him three times in around 8 hours tonight, twice he spawned right on top of my group in bat 1 then proceeded to run like hell cause everyone jumped him before anyone thought to snare *rofl* But well worth the risk of chasing him around solb like nutters.. Dropped the bag both times for us, (I won one, yay) then it spawned in another part of bats section and another group got it.. we saw the agg message and apparently they got a bag too. Bag can only hold small stuff, wouldn't even hold my rod of insidious glamour (Biggest i managed to fit in was 2 weight stein of moggok) but is a nice toy anyway. He doesn't spawn invisible btw, you see him then it procs pretty soon after.. i say procs because i don't remember seeing him actually cast, just saw the invis animation (Could be wrong, kinda tired) Anyway, just wanted to give my info so people who are wanting him can have some idea of wait times.. these where my first sightings of him from camping bats for probably four days total. And i highly recommend remembering to snare, we ended up halfway across solb chasing him without ;)

Sure this guy may be 25 but he is smack dab in the middle of an area that level 40+ do for experience and he's invis. You would need see invis to even see him and if you plan on camping him there better be a real nice group doing bugs killing everything else for you. Normally if he ever pops (which isn't very often) the bugs group gets him unless the king group can sneak in the back entrance and grab him. So if you are 25 and want the bag or cloak you need a full group of 40+ babysitting you if you want to even stay alive long enough to see him. By the way all the baddies in SOLB see invis so you have to fight your way to him, fight once you get there, and fight to get out. I have been in groups when he spawns and the 3 times I saw him from lvl 40-45 he dropped the bag 3 times, never a cloak =(

Actually the weight of the object does not matter. It is the size of the object. I have one of these bags and while farming in Sol A placed the large high grade ore and the Blue Brick in it. Talk about saving me some weight. The Blue Brick weighs a whopping 22.5 stones. 8)

I am the Guano Harvester. I walk around all day collecting bat crap and putting it into my soiled bag. Every once in a while I see a player walking all over the poo that I am paid to clean. They track it throughout the dungeon! That makes me mad and I just HAVE to go attack them for it, because it makes my job ten times harder. Usually I lose because the player calls in his friends, but sometimes I win! When I try to loot the corpse, however, the game tells me I cannot loot their corpse at this time. Urgh! How annoying. I am not a vicious creature. I do not attack everyone just because I like to. I attack those who make my job harder - those who walk in my poo. So stop killing me, stop squishing poo, and I'll stop attacking you!

ohhh so THATS why its called a soiled bag? omg gross.
thing is i understood that guano was poop. just never made the connection that a guano harverster's bag is soiled for a reason :P

I have bad rolls too. Got a 99 on Gargoyle eye in mistmoore (worth 8pp) and then got a 1 on a Crested Mistmoore Shield (worth a heck of a lot more)

From what I've heard this bag is just as good as the tinker's bag (10 slots, 100% weight reduction), but is a LORE, NO DROP item. Meaning one per customer, which is of course the first person to loot him ^_^...

not no drop, just lore from what i know, and its just med and samall items, not as good as tink bag.
