Would a Warrior be able to camp her out at lvl 43. My wife wold like this item and I think I am going to get her it tomorrow for a surprise. Or you think I should bring a shammy, druid, or cleric friend with me. Sry for signature need to rmeber to change it.
Reading the posts and soloing in the exg area for a long time I've learned that the exg is not 100% MR. Although you probably will have a very hard time getting a root to stick, i've had my Icewurm fang proc and land on him. its got considerable lower Cold Resists.
Well, you all were right about the 20 mins on the dot. I'd never realized she spawned here and accidentally ran into her coming back from soloing with my pet at the gnome fortress. Sure enough, she resisted all of my spells, including lifetap, but I managed to throw up my shieldskin spell a couple of times so she didn't wipe the floor with me. The first time she dropped the BP and the second time she dropped the shield. I was very pleasantly surprised at the loot and overall EXP since very little in Sol A gives me EXP any more. Just my to cp... hope this helps out.
Venimenae Shadowweavyr 43 Shadowknight Luclin Server
Tried a variety of spells; Root, Ice Comet, Snare, Draught of Jiva... all 100% resisted. Lures were the only thing I could get to stick; 2x Lure of Frost was enough to kill this mob. Just back up against a wall and keep casting lure till you kill it.
The placeholders are either a CWG Model CA, a CWG model MA or a CWS Model SX (Spider). The spawn time is 20 minutes on the dot.
There are two spawn points which include either side of the bridge leading to the gnome outpost. If it's on the far side, it will walk toward the outpost until it hits the courtyard, then will walk back. If it's on the near side, it will walk to the pickaxe/bucket room, then walk back.
If it spawns on the far side of the bridge it will be hidden by the wall, so don't worry if you don't see it after 20 minutes. When the EXG spawns it usually carries the shield, if it doesn't, that means that she may be carrying the breastplate. I've never seen her drop both and I've never seen her drop nothing, I'm pretty sure it's either the BP or the shield every time.
As a 41 SK she con'd Dark Blue to me. I was runing around farming some suplies for myself I came up on her. I started to fight her and agro'd 3 other clockworks all Dark Blue con's. So I FD'd let them leave and went to heal up. At 50% HP She wondered over where I was Hiding and started attacking. I said ok why not and ended up slaughtering her. I only lost 400hp total from her. She droped the BP.

Posted:Feb 27 2002 at 10:21 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This post rely as little to with this mob per-say...however - to those that think a wiz cant solo to them I say bull...I have soloed wizzards 4 times to 60th level (on 4 different servers) and am woking on my 5th one (at 39th now) on Bris..Ganted that if the mob is highly magic resestent that makes for problems...but to say that it cant be done (in my opinion) is just short of out-and-out lie. All my wizzies went all the way 95% solo (most did group through 30th - but that was more for time then need). And here is an added kick...they were all HUMAN ! ! !
As a 49 druid, she resisted every spell I cast on her, including my fire resistance debuff. Luckily, I had myself DSed and Chloroed. That, mark my words, is the ONLY way a druid can kill her. Clerics need not apply to trying to solo her. As for the 36th level guy who tried to kill her, it was a tough fight for me, and my 1hs is almost maxed, offense and defense are totally maxed. For a mob that drops a druid/cleric useable item that they can't kill, she sure is tough. Like I said, NOTHING landed on her. Not even snare when she ran. I almost died when she ran to a trio of goblins which spawned while she was killing herself on my DS. But, now I finally have something in my offhand other than that stupid book that I've been lugging around since 23. As for the guy posting that druids shouldn't melee... No, we shouldn't, but sometimes there is not an option, and I didn't want to ask my friends to come to a zone full of greens to help me get this when we're hunting Maiden's...
Having camped this gal numberous times, I can assure you her spawn is caused by one of the three spawns in Gabbie's room. Although not Gabbie herself, it is most definetly a CA or MA spawn, possibly the CWG that drops the Stout liquid. Needless to say, if you are looking to whack either EXG or her PH, then it is most definetly one of the spawns in Gabbie's room...if not Gabbie herself.
Peace, I'm out.
Ranoon Thundercall Protectors of Harmony 51 Paladin Saryrn Ass Kicker of Sir Lucan Eater of Undead
Her spawn has nothing to do with anyone or anything else in the zone. I have killed the EXG many many times and have been the only one in the zone while doing it, killing nothing else but her or her placeholder.
As for tips: Druids with their 2 damage shields, and negligible melee skills should be able to do her no problem. I think I was above 44 and nothing else aggroed. Fight her on the bridge, where she spawns. When she walks, just sit down, she will come back sooner or later. Just sit as soon as she walks. I think I usually had to heal myself once per fight. Good luck.

I'm a 31 ENC and hangout with a 30 CLR and a 32 WIZ. With that said, I wonder if she has been altered since they changed the way they (verant) make mobs resists spells. Now she might be resistant to specific spells. Either way, with my pet getting healed a my DS on it and the WIZ DS on it and my Tashani, I think we might have to go try her out. I'll post when I know TTFN :),

That might work fine, except for adds, but the last part of your idea will not, if you try to cast Tashani on her she WILL resist that spell like all the others, DS and melle is the only way to kill this chick so buff up your pets and grab a tank.

I am a 52 Wizard and if the EXG's Hps are low enough it can be soloed by using lure or enticement (low magic resist spells). Does anyone think that I would have no chance at this? Please tell me.

I've been soloing since lvl 40, just need to get your aoe snare and aoe dd out, then grab a sow (or use jboots if you have them) and go quad some stuff

Yeah, this would be real easy for a cleric? You think wizzies are hard to solo, try a cleric's life. At least you have decent nukes against non-magic resistant mobs. I guess, I could try healing myself and meleeing him down at 16 pts per round. Of course, I'd die, when I ran out of mana, and he still was 80% life. There are a few classes that don't solo well, yours and mine top the list. However, they are also most sought after in a group. If you want to solo some, start a mage, necro or druid, and save the wizzy for groups, where his power shines.
Oh wow, you could not be any further from the truth. Granted against this mob you may have a point, but clerics are awesome at soloing. You just have to be a little more creative.
Firstly pick undead...those spells are much better (mana/dmg ratio). Your DD's against normal mobs are nice, but you will go oom very quickly.
Secondly, if you were smart enough to pick a Dark Elf, get the Innoruuk symbols (neck piece - guild quest). The lvl 30 line of this necklace has a darkness spell. Take that and your fear spell and you can fear kite Specs around Oasis till you are almost lvl 50.
Thirdly ROOT, BLAST, BLAST, ROOT, BLAST, BLAST. (if in trouble blind) Yes build up melee skills, but lets be realistic now, the day a cleric (without top end weapon) kills an xp giving mob using a hammer/staff only, is far off.
A cleric is not as easy to solo as say a nec or a monk, but please don't make clerics seem as if they are worthless without a group.

Ok, this is almost enough to make me sick. A wizzy that can't solo a mob.. Bummer... Warriors probably couldn't so this thing at lvl 40. Boohoo for the wizard.
Ohhhh you poor poor wizzes found something that you cant solo. As a tank reading this I almost had to hurl chunks. Have you ever played a straight tank? give it a go then repost about what a soloing machine you are then.

Even at 44, all the other clockworks still joined in if they're close by when you attack one. However, this can actually help since the very low level greens can't do much damage, but the fact that they are there means that the higher level mob (for example the EXG) doesn't try to run and fights to the death; you can then quickly take out the green add.

Dark Elves arent the best warriors in the game. But i play one and with the rigt equipment you can tank just as good as an ogre. Dark Elves should rely on their secondary stats like agi. Invest in some Crusty armor you'll make it. Nanlaar 36 Dark Elf Warrior
#Anonymous,
Posted:Aug 02 2001 at 1:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dark elves are not the best warriors.. if you wanted an evil warrior go Iksar, Ogre or Troll.. Iksar have AGI, and Ogre and trolls have STA and STR.. Also BARDS are great for tanks.. not made for just support.. I know I will take a bard as a tank any day, so their Hp should be up there.
Umm.. Not to say you are totally wrong but as a bard I would not even attempt Tanking unless the warrior/pally/sk/monk died and i was all that was between the Mob and the casters and I would be able to buy enough time to save them. Other than that ill remain in support mode, or just kite and solo.

Posted:Aug 27 2001 at 12:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LMAO - Bards tank... I'm 47 bard and have 1043 hp naked... that about as many as most level 30 warriors!!
#Anonymous,
Posted:Dec 02 2001 at 7:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) oh yes, forgot one thing... being a cleric, I'm the best class to ask about who can tank and who can't. It's my job to know how much HP a player has and calculate how fast their HP bar goes down, most clerics don't do that. My friend tells me that most clerics he groups with just use complete heal when a person is at half hp, the class not mattering... Other groups, she says that clerics cast celestial heal when player is at 1 bubble of hp, bad idea since celestial heal doesn't heal to it's potential at the first second you cast it... anyway... I got off topic again. Bard hp goes down fast, just because bards wear plate armor doesn't mean they can tank.
Get your STA up... Warriors NEED Sta... 5 STA = 40 HP; It also makes for longer battels... Also, get your AGI up, and obviously, your STR... These are the three most important stats for a Warrior
Seeing as this thing has 100% Magic Resistance it would be pretty important to have some grasp on the number of hitpoints this thing has...please post with any estimates
Hmm, it seems that its hard to figure out who the ph is around here and where it is. I camped the bridge for say 2 or 3 hours and never saw her. I killed all that was in that room at any time.
She doesn't pop on the Bridge, she pops out in the "courtyard" in front of the "castle". Inside the "castle" is where you go to buy your Tinkerer's Pack and Traveler's Boots.
The level of this mob is about right from the above information. His poprate is 20 minutes on the dot. His PH varies from CWG spiders to other CWG models. It is easy to spot her and her PH as they are the only ones that will roam the gnome/bridge area.
Aye i am a lv 45 SK on the bristlebane server and have been to this spot as my honey hole for money i can go down there solo or with a freind camp this area solo by sitting in middle of room and simply beating um up. The EXG spawned often about once every 20-30 min. Only thing not resisted is the irresiable dmg sheilds that some classes cast. These sheilds also sell very well and if anyone ever wants the camp i just give it to them and head over to sol b for exp.
What are and how many placeholders does the EXG have? I know there is a spider, but is there another clockwork that also acts as a place holder? Also, where exactly does the EXG spawn? I've been told it spawns on the stone bridge far away furthest away from the gnome castle, but I've also been told it spawns right outside the castle.
You may be able to Tashani it, or perhaps even a necro lifetap... but other than the normally unresistable spells, you are *not* going to touch this one with magic.
Regular magic didn't work for me, nor did fire. earlier post said Disease/poison didn't work either. They don't intend for this to be taken down by any caster near its level. I almost meleed it down at 6 levels over it as a druid though. (with 15 pt damage shield on)
I cant even believe this is a honest post, i mean come on now, 2 lvl 50 CLERICs ..... LOL, dude WTF !! you wouldnt even need to be healed, lvl 50 cleric buffs alone would see you threw this little fight.
i got a 40 iksar monk, most the mobs in this area still con blue to me, some green, but mostly blue.... an let me tell ya, if i get 2 blues on me an they really start nailing me, its all i can do to back peddle, MEND and FD.
If you have 2 lvl 50 buddies that will back ya, go for it, like the one post said, as soon as you die, the clerics can take out the mob, REZ YOUR arse later....
Kill it all I say ..... let Verant sort it out later

Posted:Jan 06 2002 at 8:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) BAH! one 50 cleric could beat the damn thing in about 45 seconds if they had a desent weapon and they buffed first =p
yes a level 30 monk backed by 2 level 50 clerics could EASILY take this thing. and for that matter a monk backed my 2 clerics could take some really high level stuff anywhere. and even if you did die, being the clerics that they are, they could just res you and no worries.
me and a 49 necro friend of mine (me being 50 necro) were camping for the molten cloak a week or so ago, we got bored and went wandering, we found the EXG's spawn and the efreetie and the captain and all the good spawns around the area, we camped it for a good 5 hours, got 3 shields, a bp, one armband from the efreet, 2 boots, one pair of gloves from the captian and SEVERAL of those lame mithril quills... so i dont know what your deal is about no spawn on theEXG, we had her spawn like she was going out of style
Took four hours to get exg to spawn for me. Got a runed lava pendant before this, to give you an idea on the potential wait. PH are clockwork spider (spawns on other side of bridge away from fort), clockwork ca (spawns near side of bridge from fort)
EXG spawns outside the fort and has a little different roaming pattern. EXG also resisted all my disease, poison, cold based spells, so you need a pet or a 30+ tank with healing to take her out. As far as I can tell she resists absolutely every spell you can throw at her except maybe unresistables.
does malise or tash come to mind come on people half the classes out there have debuffing spells use em. if i cant nuke something ill malise it then nukes work fine, hope this helps 46 mage druzzil ro
The malise line sure isn't going to work. The malise line is not only resistable (based on MR), but it gives a temporary bonus to MR before checking to see if it resists....
The tash series might work, don't know. It's not resistable, but then the clockwork could have code that just doesn't allow magic to work against it.
I am in belief that they somehow nerfed all of Sol A's special spawns, as we camped the foreman for 4 hours and no pop, and last night we tried the EXG for 3 until she showed. Her PHs are CA, MA, MB, and SX (May be more, those are the most common). MA and MB have force modules that can knock you into lava if your not careful. The EXG campspot near the stone bridge is a great place to pull things, especially Singe or Kindle, who's PH wanders around across the bridge and down the hall near the Sol B zoneline. We tried pulling the reckless room for awhile and got good exp. On that note, don't let anything fall in the lava, has a inferno gob got away through the lava and pulled about 30 of his friends. =)
Her poprate is preaty consistent. Common Drop is the Shield, Rare is the Breastplate. You'll see if she has it or not. (Shield that is. No shield = BP) She doesn't run, so if you tag her on the big stone bridge, you can get her without agroing anything else. She is 100% resistant, so don't even waste mana on spells. You take faction hits with all the gnome factions in the game, but its so small its almost inconsequential.
I was soloing it at 36th level druid, and it ran when it was at 10% health. I tried it near the steps at the T intersection near some goblins. Unfortunately the gobs aggroed when it ran and I ended up toast. A tough solo for a druid at my level, but I didn't know it was MR and wasted a lot on trying to snare it and dot it. next time I'll save it all for heals and just keep the damage shield up.
Killed the EXG tonight, wasn't as tough as people say, but it does resist magic 100% of the time. I'm a lvl 31 ranger and along with my lvl 35 mage friend's water pet we took it down. It spawns on the bridge in the lava room, close to the gnome castle in Sol A. It conned blue to me, so it's about lvl30 actually, not 35. Good luck!
