I, 52 ranger, was able to handle solo with relative ease. He has around 5k HP. Non-caster of course. With AC of 932 the hardest hit he landed on me was 97. I have around 1900 hp so I had to root then back off and heal just a bit before stepping back in to finish him off. I have my offhand epic so I was fighting with 40 percent haste, something you want to figure in if you plan on soloing him melee style. As for spawn time: this was my third camp of him first time four hours no ac, then three hours no ac. This third camp was 45 minutes or so and he popped. If you want to avoid going insane take a friend for company or just camp him for a few hours at a time. He will eventually pop for you. If you are really serious about camping him and you can handle him at this level then OOT is the way to go. Your camp is respected and you don't run the risk of watching hours of work go down the drain in a free for all frenzy out in the desert. Plus you don't have to worry about a bunch of adds since he, or the PH, is the only mob that spawns on the isle (not counting the high elf vendor in the tower at the top of the island). Also forgot to mention he was blue to me at 52.
