Unsolved Quest?

Zando Hyzill says 'Glad to meet you. Our Cargo Clockwork is marvelous, no?'

At around 8am in the morning gametime the Cargo Clockwork will make a trip to the Windmills and on the journey say:
'This unit requires oiling.'
and also
Cargo Clockwork Chuga.. Chug..Chug..
and finally when it reaches the Windmill:
Cargo Clockwork says 'This unit requires maintenence .'
Byrola Bendil says 'What was that noise?'

Is this some unsolved quest? I have read also whilst searching on the Irontoe Brigade that the Clockwork meets with Crumpy Irontoe in the 3rd windmill.

Do you need to repair the Cargo Clockwork to get to this? I can't seem to get any responses from it's owner Zondo Hyzill who refers to the unit as 'Ours'.

Any ideas anyone?

The cargo still use TP now when fleeing ?
Is there a way to pull her without Tp ? in direction of the windmills for example.

i would not pull him toward the windmills for the simple fact you have to pull him between gaurds. Not a good idea. If the gaurds catch wind of what is going on they will aggro on you.

pull in the drection of the deep ravine and Kobolds. Don't go into the ravine but just keep him in between the cliffs leading to the ravine. Plenty of space to kite him there.

Also if you run into any runaway clockworks, or cleaners on the way to the windmills they also will aggro on you.

As far as him Tp'ing back yes he still does that. It is only a problem if you are not aware of it. I found out about the tp back when Zondo nuked me into oblivion the first time it happened. But it was the only time I died after a TP by the cargo.

I was over there the other night and saw the cargo walking along a wall all by himself near the windmill. He was headin away from his base and had no damage done to him. I looked to see if anyone was engaging him but didn't see anyone. So I checked the time and it was a full day before his scheduled run. At the time I thought weird. So I have to ask are you on Karana server? if so it was probably you. If not just another mystery of the Clockwork.

Have somebody found how to avoid TP back ?

Will the guards assist the CC and aggro you while fighting ?

I soloed this guy for close to 5 levels and have a wealth of experience with the TP back to Zondo.

Distance has nothing to do with the TP. i have pulled him all the way to the zone and never had him TP.

What i think happens is it is a Damage Factor. If you beat this guy to the point where he is in retreat an odd factor comes into play.

If when he starts his retreat to Zondo the shortest distance to zondo means a right hand turn for him he is probably going to TP. But not necessarily. If he is damaged to the point where he is now at a crawl and makes that right turn he is definetly going to TP.

If the shortest distance to Zondo means a left turn for him he will not TP at all.

You can snare him root him whatever if he is going to tp he does so.

What i do when i know he is going to tp is I start runnin for the zone. But not to fast. I run through the Kobold camps to avoid any adds from gaurds. I pause often just to make sure Zondo is still chasin me. I wait at zone to lesser fay until I either get a hit from him or I see him. Then i zone. I immeadiately rezone and with a sow beat Zondo (who walks back) to the cargo and finish the job. By the time you get back ole cargo is fully healed. i think when he tp's he heals when he lands or maybe Zondo heals him?

To avoid a TP keep a low level spell handy and hit him a few times with that to just get him to the point of retreat then nuke and finish the job. It takes him about 5 seconds from the right turn to actually TP.

Another interesting thing is that i had him chase me all over the zone just for fun on numerous occassions and he has TP'ed out a few times with no damage to him and distance has nothing to do with it because i would take him back to the spot of a TP and he would not do it again.

Makes me wonder if he is actually TP'ing or perhaps ol Zondo is summoning him back for some reason?

I have a 24 Halfling Druid and he has no problems soloing the cargo unless he ports back to Zondo. I only used Creeping Crud and Snare. Snare is resisted about 90% of the time, but I only need one to really stick per pull to give me plenty of time to pull. Creeping Crud is almost never resisted and my DD spell (careless lightning) is being resisted about 50% of the time.

The easy way for me to do it is dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, with a lot of snare attempts in between. I keep in wolf form so if he ports back to Zondo I can run fast.

My only question is does he automatically port back to Zondo when he is at low health, or does he only do that when he is too far away?

i have a question can a 34 cleric with bronze armor and a dwarven mace solo this thing. I would like to know. tired of dong the support thing in a group.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 28 2002 at 8:12 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You're a level 34 and all you have is Bronze???!!! What kind of a EQ player are you? A whole set of bronze armour probablly only costs 200pp at the most! I have a level 36 Shaman, and he has about 18k worth of stuff on him, including a weapon for 6k. Not to make fun of you, but you suck....Sorry, get better equipment.

Damm, I must really suck as a player, made it Lvl 40 with my rogue (my main), and I only have 150pp in the bank. All my main armour and weapons (bar my gloves which I swapped for a grimling mining pick I bought from a vendor for 2pp) are quest items, or from drops that I have killed.

I didn't realise that this 'game' was in fact a competition to see who can amass the most wealth, or to see who can level quickest.

I've been playing this character for over a year now and don't care that I have only made to level 40 with the pittance that I have in the bank. In that year my character has been to every zone in Antonica, every zone in Faydwer (bar Kedge Keep, and I'm going there now my swimming is at 200), and every zone in Odus (yes, including a 'drop' into the Hole).

So what that my main weapon is only the 'burning rapier' and not some 6kpp weapon and I don’t do those mammoth backstabs that some rogues do, I had loads of fun getting it, and I wear it with pride. If I want to do large backstabs and I can be bothered, I switch in a grimling mining pick when I backstab.

So what if my armour isn't worth 18kpp, it's all good for my level. I wear a Swiftclaw Sash because I went and killed Heretics in Stoneburnt, it's not the best haste item out there, but I had fun the three weeks it took me to get it (my advice after getting it is don't try unless you have track). I got it, not some level 60 druid farming it and then selling it in east commons, me, all on my lonesome, me, me, me. I can't begin to tell you what a massive buzz I got when I combined the heads and didn't get another blasted headband, but instead got the sash.

When Luclin can out I was amazed to meet a Lvl 35 Beastmaster after only 2(ish) weeks. After two weeks I had just about mastered the art of not falling out of the tree house in Gfay, and feel that he missed everything (all the fun) that playing a new kitty beastmaster should have been, but then what do I know? As I said at the beginning of this post I must really suck.

Sorry about the rant, I don't normally write so much, and not normally on a month old post, but someone said much the same to me the other night...

Ok im Gnome mage starting killing cargo at lvl 36 read post about so called mage elf being killed near magic guild library so every 20 kills i checked my faction to see if that was true.Good news i lvled from 36 to 40 and i can go anywhere inside akanon and con all npcs im not kos to any of clockworks. So elf guy must have killed driver inside that made him kos cause just killing cargo will not kos you woot happy lvling.Cargo is able lvl you 43 if you desire kill him that many lvls.

Ummm... ok... puctuation is your best friend.

And yes, I'm a high elf mage.

I ran through Steamfont last night. My faction with Gnomes is Amiable and my faction with the cargo's is dubious. I'm not KoS but they still won't sell to me.

Yes, I killed gnome mechanics, and I killed Clockworks. I also killed Minos to get from KoS to amiable, and still no change with the Cargos.

Maybe because you're a gnome you don't get faction hits. Maybe not. Don't discredit my post just because it works for you.

You think you're not getting a faction hit... but you are Blanche... you ARE!

I started camping this guy at L30... pulling with a spiderling works like a charm. DS pet and alternate between shock and renew elememts. If pet dies.... just high tail it across the lawn and start nuking!

Love this camp... uber XP! So i'm at L33 and went into Ak'anon to get my L34 spells. Ak'anon because it's the most convienient place to get item summoning spells. Can't get into Neriak, and Erud is a long way off.

Guards still con great... so I walk in, running towards the library... and totally get mobbed by the clockworks inside.

i found this guy by looking in the soloing guide on the EQshaman website. so i ran over to take a look. Heres how a shaman makes it REAL easy...
1) Stand facing the side of Cargo, in that little open area.
2) pull him with Malisement hell turn and walk at you at that super cheetah speed =P
3) back up! run backwards UP that hill behind you and Enstill him (may take 2)
4) now that hes rooted, run back down the hill, over to that empty hut
5) slap down a Venom of the snake, and Scourge.
6) have an Ol'Tujims fierce brew, thats it, youre done killer!
7) lather, rinse, repeat, takes me approximately 1.5 bbls of mana
ive found it to be quite simple. i even have time to buff newbies!
Enjoy the slaughter!

Cargo and Zondo
# Aug 11 2001 at 6:48 AM Rating: Decent
I started hunting Cargo Clockwork at Level 34 (Magician). The thing is, Zondo won't stop aggro when you pull the CC until Level 36 and I was already KoS to Zondo so using the spiderling trick was pointless. I decided just to kill both of them.

Its not that hard to break the spawn, all you need is a pet that hits for 30-34 max damage (you can even use Monster Summoning I). Target Zondo and go the furthest distance you can from casting Cinder Bolt. Cast Cinder Bolt twice, and then send your pet on him. Your pet will kill and taunt him. Cargo should be trying to go after you (he moves like he's snared). While your pet is killing Zondo, you kite Cargo to death.

I can pretty much kill Cargo Clockwork after that without moving and without sending my pet using Cinder Bolts.

Ok, I killed this thing all of level 29 and here's some additional info:

The spawn time is 7 minutes and 50 seconds after its death.

It resists my roots and ensnares a LOT. It's not as unresisting as some posts make it out to be.

I got 3/4 of a blue bubble per kill at level 29.

Note on clockwork:

If you pull toward newbie area, and it goes beyond the two little hills on the right. It will gate. Zondo's primary spells are Inferno Shock (240 dmg), and Force Shock(187 dmg, but easily resistable).

If you can not pull a spiderling, a clockwork spider will work also.

Has between 700 - 800 hit points.

Resistances to spells varies.

I am a 24 Gnome Magician of the Solusek Ro server i first started killing this thing the other day at first i made the mistake of attacking it where it stood bringing the caster along as well. I eventually found out ot hail then back up and nuke. This thing is great it has NEVER resisted my nuke at lv. 24 and i gain 1/2 blue every kill. I figure ill stay here until lv. 33 or so. It has been the safest exp i have found =D

Heres how to pull the cargo at 24.
Be a wiz or mage best class to do this at 24.
pull a spiderling infront of it and it says, Whir. Unauthorized attempt to disasimble unit. Whir. pull him back to the road or whatever and kite him as normal.. The cargo is permanently snared and only has like 800 hp so you can nuke easy. Just DD over and over and walk backwards.. but DONT get too far away.. thats what triggers the teleport back to Zondo so stay close and happy hunting!
good at 40

I am a druid of the 16th season, would the cargo clockwork resist my spells, or does it have a low magic resist. I would group kill it, but i wish to know its magic resist before attempting. Zoning due to stupidity is stupid.

its double your level dont try maybe in high 20s you could kite it but not before
RE: magic resist
# May 14 2001 at 12:33 PM Rating: Default
There is a level limit - you can only hit MOBs up to 6 levels above you with spells; any more than that and you will be resisted 100% of the time, even with ultra-low resist spells like stinging swarm. This thing would smoke you, and your entire group as well if they're somewhere around you level.
Still good at 38
# Jan 15 2001 at 12:33 PM Rating: Default
-I am still getting 1/3 a Blue bubble at 38 and will make 39 tommorow. The exp gained here is just as good as the exp from the single Spectre in Feerott due to the faster spawn rate and ease of kill. At 38 I can kill this MoB in 3 shots 320-320-187. At lvl 36 the Wizard that hangs with him will no longer aggro when the Cargo teleports back so no need to Snare it anymore. Make sure you continue on keeping away from the guards as they will still attack.

Here are my findings thus far...
# Jan 07 2001 at 5:11 AM Rating: Default
-I needed a place to get out of 35 without the grief associated with hell levels so I tried this spot. Boy do I wish I had found this at lvl 30:)

-At 35 I got 1/4 of a Blue bubble per kill= 20 kills per bubble on this guy(seems kind of slow but I have compared it with other spots grouped and solo with similer results). I am a Gnome Wizard and I use the spiderling/rogue clockwork method of pulling. Its spawns every 6 min. There is no need to have sow root or snare it but I find that snaring it with my Bonds of Force to be more appealing to prevent him from teleporting back to his Wizard buddy at the house when he goes into running phase. At 36 I get 1/3 a blue bubble per kill= 15 kills per bubble and am currently after one sitting halfway through 36. Since this spot is rarely camped due to the teleporting bug and possible guard aggro I plan on coming here when times are slow until the exp peters into nothingness...
-Also it drops Scrap metal which can be used to increase faction with the Ak'Anon merchants which is very useful for my Tinkering prices. I have also managed to get my Tailoring skill up to 26 fpr free(combined 2 spiderling silks to make threads until 15 then combined 3 threads to make a cord to 26) just from the spiderling I used for bait in the pull.
-This spot is ideal for the Gnome Wizard 30-36(so far).
