Definitely a cyclops ph. Can't highsun so just followed, passed by Woran Soothsayer twice, very close to him. Monk Epic changes: - Increased the chance for Targin the Rock from 5% to 15% and Raster of Guk from 2% to 10%. - Brother Zephyl, Brother Qwinn, Ran'un, Brother Velan Torresk, and Thena Lonnes have grown in strength. They are much more dangerous. Also, persons killing these folks will be greatly disliked by monk factions.

As of today, Brother Qwinn is still level 61triple attacking for somewhere in the mid-200's. He seemed about the same based on many previous encounters to spar. However, he then punched me for 650 DD with a spell called "Vigorous Strike":
Spell: Vigorous Strike
Cast: Instant Resist: Unresistable Target: Single Reflectable: No Range: 1000 Duration: Instant
On You: The monk strikes you with tremendous force.
This attacked knocked me back about 20 yards out of combat as if I had feigned death.
I did not test him further out of respect for his abilities.

I popped that guy 10 times today in 2 hours. What i did is to kill everything west of paw (except the gnoll at paw directly). As soon as you got it, DONT KILL IT immediately. Go kill the gnoll around paw and let them repop to be able to get the PH. The PH or Qwinn repop every 1 min 5 to 10 sec. If this is less, this is NOT the PH. It happened 1 time than he "jump" a pop so had to wait another min.If you have the chance to have him up, kill the mobs around paw. If you see Narra Tanith, SHE is a PH. This is the only RARE creature i have seen as a PH and yes im 100% sure, it is a PH! All the PH i killed popped west of paw, maximum east is paw. I did not killed any PH on the east side. They go north before the undead and south a bit south of aviak. When you kill him or a PH, go to paw to see the next pop. You need a track of 300. Now for the PH, here is the list of all i had: Aviak Harrier - Aviak Egret - Aviak Rook - Centaur Archer - Centaur Courser- Centaur Archer - a shadow wold - a mist Wolf - Lion - Lioness - Escape gnoll(cant remember full name) - Adult Elephant and Narra Tanith. No cyclops or undead cyclops. There was many named up and they are not on the PH at all but Narra. I killed 2 Narra for 10 Qwinn.
You really need to be alone in the zone or it will be impossible. Dont forget to kill gnoll at paw when something depop and repop to always have your PH on top with easy to see mobs next in the track. I was camping Rathe Mountain at the same time and got 1 Zephyl for 10 Qwinn. Zephyl seems to drop the robe more often but if you do what i wrote here and youre alone in the zone, that will be easy. Just dont forget when he is up to not kill him immediately (unless he have the robe and you need only 1). Easy camp when you know what you do. :)
it is totally doable if you have track and the zone to yourself. ph spawns every minute or so. you can just keep killing the phs as they spawn until qwinn pop. same thing with quillmane. i farm it often and yes you can get 1 quillmane in 2 hrs, or 15 quillmane in 2 hrs. very rng
I farmed this a bunch. I saw just about every mob type in the cycle. Aviaks, even a cyclopse once. I also was seeing more in the range of 1m 10s to 1m 20s spawn times.
centaur foal a cyclops Centaur sheltie centaur courser
Confirmed these mobs are on the cycle. The cyclops one really fooled me I left it up all day and he was never spawning. Came back the next day, found him up and got on the cycle, was only person in the zone, and saw a cyclops pop right on time and realized he was part of the cycle. Made me really regret not killing him the day before knowing the freaking PH was wandering all around me as I couldn't figure out why he wasn't spawning!
Turn on timestamps on your chat log (including seconds) and look at the "you have slain a" to get timers and add +66seconds to death of PH.
As of Jan 2020 the comment above is spot on. Also can confirm a shadow wolf is part of the cycle. Spawn time was 66 seconds.
I just killed every mob that was walking north/south on the west side of splitpaw until I had an escaped splitpaw gnoll spawn, then I killed that and timed 66 seconds. If something spawned in exactly 66 seconds and was west of splitpaw, I'd kill it and keep going.
Ended up taking around 30min to get Bro Q to spawn after I got to SK doing it this way.
I just got my turnin to Qwinn done after many days of failing to spawn him. I'd been there long enough to get a feel for the spawns, including the discussed escaped gnoll, and I felt that the Undead Cyclops (a giant skeleton) was involved. I'd killed him before with no Qwinn, but this time I killed it and started the timer. Qwinn popped exactly 60 seconds later. Thank god I had a ranger there, made on a 2nd account specifically for this.
So when the undead cyclops is up, kill it and whatever spawns 60 seconds later is also a PH.
as a followup, it should be noted that Narra Tanith *does* spawn on Brother Qwinn's cycle. So there is evidence that SK named cycles can share some named (though this is the only case I know of).
We needed Qwinn for my monk so I took a tracker and a pet class. What I did was kill everything down the whole west side until an escaped splitpaw gnoll spawned on the west side of the map from splitpaw. It may also spawn a little north of splitpaw too. I ignored the ones that spawned in the south east part of the map as quite often killing that cycle spawned Shaman Ren'rex and High Shaman Grisok.
Once an escaped splitpaw gnoll was on track I stopped killing for around a minute. During this time the pet class dismissed and resummoned the pet. The tracker put tracksort onto normal and then I killed the escaped gnoll. At this point the summoned pet was at the top of the track list so I knew that anything that spawned above it MUST be its PH. I kept killing and about 20 minutes later Qwinn spawned. Monk did the hand in then left to find brother Z in rathe mountains.
As there was nobody else in the zone, I killed Qwinn (no robe) and reset the pet/merc. I then killed whatever spawned above the pet in the tracking list since I knew this was definitely a PH for Qwinn. Within 10 minutes, he respawned so I killed him again and about 20 minutes later he respawned a third time. On a couple of occasions I noticed TWO mobs spawn instead of one. I wasn't sure which was the one I wanted so both got killed unless it spawned a long way from the west side. I concentrated on the ones in the west. The mobs in the spawn cycle were: a lion, a lioness, an elephant calf, escaped splitpaw gnoll, adult elephant, centaur courser, aviak rook. I also had Kurrpok Splitpaw spawn once so I left him up. As I am writing this BOTH Kurrpok and Qwinn are up so I'm guessing that killing things on this cycle acts as a trigger as well as a PH.
Anyway, I hope this helps people who might be after Qwinn still. The ranger had 220 tracking but even with somebody with less tracking, using the pet bookmarking system in track you should still be able to find and kill the PHs.
Edit: Sadly the pet bookmark tip doesn't work with mercs as they always appear at the top of the track list.
Finally found this pathing route to figure his spawn point. It is said to be %100 true (I haven't tested it)... Must have a tracker and try not to kill any other mobs while waiting , it may mess up his pop cycle. http://wiki.project1999.com/Brother_Qwinn
It isn't, Quinn roams a LOT larger area than that I have followed him for a very long time once for a friend. Also Named mobs are NOT PH for other named mobs (plus I have seen Quinn up at the same time as that named mob); there are named trigger mobs but not named PHs.
Okay, here is some info after many hours trying to get him to spawn. It appears he always spawns near the west wall, probably near shadowed man camp as mentioned in this very useful post: http://home.comcast.net/~echelonforester/quillmane2.htm
For me, he finally spawned at -2993, +2084 (under the tree) and stood there for about a minute or more. He then pathed due south until he reached -4915, +1439... immediately turned around and headed north to +330, +1116. Then an immediate right turn and walked east to +963, -402 and stopped there for about 60 seconds. Then he proceeded east to +1461, -1983... then turned south and walked to -5533, -1979, then turned west and pathed to -6712, +575 and stopped there for a bit. He then headed SE for a short distance to -7321, -453 and stopped again for a while (near south wall). Then he walked west to -7052, +862 and then north and around the aviak village... after that he turned north and went up to Paw spires and I assume repeated a similar pattern.
As a general rule, he (and I assume his PH's) will path due north-south or due east-west, making a clockwise circle around the zone with sharp right turns. He will always eventually path over Paw. He never seems to stop for more than about 60 seconds... remaining still for the longest stretch at his spawn point.
The post I mentioned above is quite accurate in terms of the spawn cycle and PH's (spawn cycle being 78 secs). I would guess the % chance of him popping is about the same as the % chance of spawning Quillmane on his cycle... but they are on seperate cycles.
Do no be fooloed into believing that either Sentry Alchin OR Sir Nandruar are PH's for him... they are not. I have numerous screen shots with all of them either in the same photo or all three in my tracking window. These guys are not PH's for Brother Qwinn! He is probably the only named on his cycle... otherwise they are the typical lions, lionesses, an elephant, an escaped splitpaw gnoll, cyclops, treant, shadow or mist wolf.
BTW, Sentry Alchin becomes a werewolf on occasion... both the werewolf and Alchin drop the same no drop, lore item... a locket.
I hope this helps someone... bring a ranger for tracking... it is a HUGE help.
I've tried for 4 days now to locate this spawn, and he is not spawning at all. Any ideas on what to kill, as I tried killing most things in the zone that wander about.
"Thank you for contacting Sony Online Entertainment. I double checked our spawn and loot logs and I see that Qwinn is working correctly. They just appear to be rare. Sorry for the confusion! If you need further assistance with any other issue please do not hesitate to contact us again via a new petition and we will do our best to help you." Been a week on zegony that I have been looking for him. With the above said he has to have a PH.
Like someone said in a dif post, hopefully we can figure this guys spawn timer/ph out like others did quillmane. I still think whoever figured out the spawns on some of the mobs in EQ are frikin genius, kudos to those that have.
This is going to be pretty long, so hopefully it helps. I am basing alot of my info off of the brother Zephyl spawn in rathe mnts, however all of those ph's/ names are on a 6 min timer. (a drake, hasten bootsrider, maldyn the unkempt or whatever his name is) I did learn on the Zephyl series, that if you dont kill the ph, he will despawn eventually (timer unknown at this time) and 6 min later the next ph or name will spawn.
Ok I have spent a while in SK now looking for Brother qwinn. He was up when i first got there, so i killed him, no robe. I have been trying to figure out a ph for him, but still no success. This is what i believe i have figured out so far. I am using a ranger for tracking, probably impossible without a tracker.
all of the following will lead you to finding a ph that is on a one minute spawn timer (or so i believe) also some of this might be repeat information that people down the list have already posted, my apologies for any repeat.
shadow wolves = phs for the named shamans. lions = ph for quillmane (while killing only lions i had Quillmane spawn) lioness = ph for "a cyclops" ? still not 100% on that one. ishva leth gnoll leads to 1 min spawn time for The Ishva Mal or whatever its called, and vise versa. (the rosch val or whatever is the same, ph and named, not sure if its a 1 min or not though) I think sentry alechin spawns at a certain time each day, and if you hail him he talks about bad monsters at night, so this leads me to think the undead cyclops spawns at night at a certain time. I dont think the bull elephants do anything, when killed they just respawn 10 - 30 min later, whatever the reg spawn time is. a mist wolf = i dont think killing them does anything special, i have not seen anything significant in the spawn time by killing them.
I thought i had a lead on a 1 min timer with a wandering Aviak Avocet in the northern part of the zone, but i believe that has turned into a dead end. It gets pretty difficult to track the ones in the southern part, because there is like 20 avocets up at any given time. Im still working this angle.
All of my information is based on killing ONE type of mob at a time. For instance if im killing shadow wolves, thats all i kill until i feel i have figured out what spawns from them. This is why killing the wandering Aviaks is difficult, because there is a S&&& ton of them.
Once i feel that avocets are not the ph i will move to the wandering rooks, harriers, darters, etc. The ph obviously has to be a wandering mob. It seems to me that most old epic mobs are on the 1 min timer if you can find their ph.
Alright so if i figure anything more out i'll post it.
Quellious server Zectas 82 sham Korzik 81 rog lots of frikin chars, lots of epics
I know i mispelled a lot of things and didnt abbreviate properly, i tried to write this as fast as i could so i dont give a flying F what you think about my grammar, so keep it to yourself. I hope i can be of help to those that need it. Thanks for your time.
*edit - One more thing, all of this could just be a huge waste of time and he is just on some kind of timer ( 1 hr, 2 hrs, a day, whatever) which if this is true i will beat my head into the wall many many times and i will petition Sony to give me my LIFE back lol.
**edit its 2am game time right now and sentry alechin is up, so maybe killing him spawns undead cyclops at a later time. to be honest i dont give a crap about sentry alechin unless he has somthing to do with brother Qwinn which i don't think he does. Edited, Aug 18th 2009 6:53pm by Zectas
I just killed him about 5 minutes ago, and he was wearing the robe....I was so excited.....woe to me when I looted him and saw an intricate defiant silk robe.
so i killed this guy on my two lvl 62 mages out of boredom. he wasnt wearing the robe BUT he dropped it and an elaborate defiant silk robe. just a btw, he will drop even if not wearing, at least from what i just experienced (this was done 7 mins ago)
I can confirm that he does drop robe if he is wearing the robe. I have seen him many times wandering zone and today he was wearing the robe so I logged on my 65BST (5.8khp/mana self buffed) and tried to find him to kill. I found that if you wait near hermits hut and watch for him on this little hill he will wander through to the southen corner right as it is getting dark. I wached him at least 4 times do this like clockwork so I waited there and Attacked. He resisted all spells but was able to kill him (just let pet tank and kept walking in attacking till was down then backing off and healing pet. With servant vet reward and mana was able to kill easy)
He does run at 15% so that also helps.. hit for low 300's didnt see anything harder... and was rather fun to kill. I got robe on my monk so now just need to finish Robe of Whistling fist quest then get 2nd robe for epic... Defintly well worth trouble to by pass the quest for Robe of Lost Circle.....
I've been looking for this guy for my monk. I killed him once yesterday and didn't see him again until earlier today. With my 68 Ranger I decided to follow him with my automap on so I can see his pathing on the map. Well, after three hours of following him around the zone he never took the same route or stopped in the same place, except he did walk over splitpaw three times. He did stop in each of the corners of the zone and also did a few small loops. I never finished following him to where he took the same path twice. My map looks like a two year old scribbled all over it, what a mess. With pathing all over the zone I can't see any kind of specific place holder. His spawn times aren't set. It was four hours between sightings today, then got him on track three times within ten minutes, then a few hours of nothing before I quit. Still no robe.
I'd like to confirm that as of march 08 he still drops the robe of the lost circle. what was suprising tho was the fact that he was attackable because most guildmasters are not. no faction hit still. ran at low hp.
i'd also like to add that he was wearing a robe when i killed him. i notice in the screenshot above he's not wearing the robe. just thought i'd throw that out there.
No faction hit when killing this fellow. He walked past us at Splitpaw and walked along Western edge of zone all the way North to the river. He stops when you hail him and can be used for GM monk duties.
No robe. He dropped the black headband and torn tunic. He has a lot of HP and doubles for 250-odd.
