Why is this guy listed as a Necromancer GM? He's obviously got nothing whatsoever to do with Necromancers.

Seen him around plenty of times whilst doing Epic Quest collections. Now that I need to find him to do a hand-in he's no where to be found.

Okay, here is some info after many hours trying to get him to spawn. It appears he always spawns near the west wall, probably near shadowed man camp as mentioned in this very useful post: http://home.comcast.net/~echelonforester/quillmane2.htm
For me, he finally spawned at -2993, +2084 (under the tree) and stood there for about a minute or more. He then pathed due south until he reached -4915, +1439... immediately turned around and headed north to +330, +1116. Then an immediate right turn and walked east to +963, -402 and stopped there for about 60 seconds. Then he proceeded east to +1461, -1983... then turned south and walked to -5533, -1979, then turned west and pathed to -6712, +575 and stopped there for a bit. He then headed SE for a short distance to -7321, -453 and stopped again for a while (near south wall). Then he walked west to -7052, +862 and then north and around the aviak village... after that he turned north and went up to Paw spires and I assume repeated a similar pattern.
As a general rule, he (and I assume his PH's) will path due north-south or due east-west, making a clockwise circle around the zone with sharp right turns. He will always eventually path over Paw. He never seems to stop for more than about 60 seconds... remaining still for the longest stretch at his spawn point.
The post I mentioned above is quite accurate in terms of the spawn cycle and PH's (spawn cycle being 78 secs). I would guess the % chance of him popping is about the same as the % chance of spawning Quillmane on his cycle... but they are on seperate cycles.
Do no be fooloed into believing that either Sentry Alchin OR Sir Nandruar are PH's for him... they are not. I have numerous screen shots with all of them either in the same photo or all three in my tracking window. These guys are not PH's for Brother Qwinn! He is probably the only named on his cycle... otherwise they are the typical lions, lionesses, an elephant, an escaped splitpaw gnoll, cyclops, treant, shadow or mist wolf.
BTW, Sentry Alchin becomes a werewolf on occasion... both the werewolf and Alchin drop the same no drop, lore item... a locket.
I hope this helps someone... bring a ranger for tracking... it is a HUGE help.

I've tried for 4 days now to locate this spawn, and he is not spawning at all. Any ideas on what to kill, as I tried killing most things in the zone that wander about.

Like someone said in a dif post, hopefully we can figure this guys spawn timer/ph out like others did quillmane. I still think whoever figured out the spawns on some of the mobs in EQ are frikin genius, kudos to those that have.
This is going to be pretty long, so hopefully it helps.
I am basing alot of my info off of the brother Zephyl spawn in rathe mnts, however all of those ph's/ names are on a 6 min timer. (a drake, hasten bootsrider, maldyn the unkempt or whatever his name is) I did learn on the Zephyl series, that if you dont kill the ph, he will despawn eventually (timer unknown at this time) and 6 min later the next ph or name will spawn.
Ok I have spent a while in SK now looking for Brother qwinn. He was up when i first got there, so i killed him, no robe. I have been trying to figure out a ph for him, but still no success. This is what i believe i have figured out so far.
I am using a ranger for tracking, probably impossible without a tracker.
all of the following will lead you to finding a ph that is on a one minute spawn timer (or so i believe)
also some of this might be repeat information that people down the list have already posted, my apologies for any repeat.
shadow wolves = phs for the named shamans.
lions = ph for quillmane (while killing only lions i had Quillmane spawn)
lioness = ph for "a cyclops" ? still not 100% on that one.
ishva leth gnoll leads to 1 min spawn time for The Ishva Mal or whatever its called, and vise versa. (the rosch val or whatever is the same, ph and named, not sure if its a 1 min or not though)
I think sentry alechin spawns at a certain time each day, and if you hail him he talks about bad monsters at night, so this leads me to think the undead cyclops spawns at night at a certain time.
I dont think the bull elephants do anything, when killed they just respawn 10 - 30 min later, whatever the reg spawn time is.
a mist wolf = i dont think killing them does anything special, i have not seen anything significant in the spawn time by killing them.
I thought i had a lead on a 1 min timer with a wandering Aviak Avocet in the northern part of the zone, but i believe that has turned into a dead end. It gets pretty difficult to track the ones in the southern part, because there is like 20 avocets up at any given time. Im still working this angle.
All of my information is based on killing ONE type of mob at a time. For instance if im killing shadow wolves, thats all i kill until i feel i have figured out what spawns from them. This is why killing the wandering Aviaks is difficult, because there is a S&&& ton of them.
Once i feel that avocets are not the ph i will move to the wandering rooks, harriers, darters, etc. The ph obviously has to be a wandering mob. It seems to me that most old epic mobs are on the 1 min timer if you can find their ph.
Alright so if i figure anything more out i'll post it.

I just killed him about 5 minutes ago, and he was wearing the robe....I was so excited.....woe to me when I looted him and saw an intricate defiant silk robe.

so i killed this guy on my two lvl 62 mages out of boredom. he wasnt wearing the robe BUT he dropped it and an elaborate defiant silk robe. just a btw, he will drop even if not wearing, at least from what i just experienced (this was done 7 mins ago)
I can confirm that he does drop robe if he is wearing the robe. I have seen him many times wandering zone and today he was wearing the robe so I logged on my 65BST (5.8khp/mana self buffed) and tried to find him to kill. I found that if you wait near hermits hut and watch for him on this little hill he will wander through to the southen corner right as it is getting dark. I wached him at least 4 times do this like clockwork so I waited there and Attacked. He resisted all spells but was able to kill him (just let pet tank and kept walking in attacking till was down then backing off and healing pet. With servant vet reward and mana was able to kill easy)
He does run at 15% so that also helps.. hit for low 300's didnt see anything harder... and was rather fun to kill. I got robe on my monk so now just need to finish Robe of Whistling fist quest then get 2nd robe for epic... Defintly well worth trouble to by pass the quest for Robe of Lost Circle.....

I've been looking for this guy for my monk. I killed him once yesterday and didn't see him again until earlier today. With my 68 Ranger I decided to follow him with my automap on so I can see his pathing on the map. Well, after three hours of following him around the zone he never took the same route or stopped in the same place, except he did walk over splitpaw three times. He did stop in each of the corners of the zone and also did a few small loops. I never finished following him to where he took the same path twice. My map looks like a two year old scribbled all over it, what a mess. With pathing all over the zone I can't see any kind of specific place holder. His spawn times aren't set. It was four hours between sightings today, then got him on track three times within ten minutes, then a few hours of nothing before I quit. Still no robe.

I'd like to confirm that as of march 08 he still drops the robe of the lost circle. what was suprising tho was the fact that he was attackable because most guildmasters are not. no faction hit still. ran at low hp.
i'd also like to add that he was wearing a robe when i killed him. i notice in the screenshot above he's not wearing the robe. just thought i'd throw that out there.

No faction hit when killing this fellow. He walked past us at Splitpaw and walked along Western edge of zone all the way North to the river. He stops when you hail him and can be used for GM monk duties.
No robe. He dropped the black headband and torn tunic. He has a lot of HP and doubles for 250-odd.

Killed him today and got the robe. He did have the robe graphic when I killed him.

Lots of posts about killing him but any new information on how to get him to spawn? The spawn information here is years old and inconclusive.
I havent yet figured out his PH, but I did experience the following 3 weeks ago, confirming he is spawned.
I was running my 33 ranger around looking for the Shaman spawns and found him on track, I had no idea just who he was and how important he was to the Monk epic 1.0 and ran by him several times (he had the robe on). Someone popped into zone and asked if anyone had seen him. I went to private tells and brought the player and Brother Qwinn together. The player brought 2 other chars there, then proceeded to kill BQ and loot robe. I THEN learned why he was so important. Problem was, this guy lied to 2 other people in zone that BQ was up but no robe while I held him in place. I left that guy feeling rather used actually.
Next day I started tracking and found BQ up, killed him on my 75 pally, (no robe), and started tracking the last 2 shaman I still needed for my 38 monk. POP - BQ was back on track, and no robe. One of the guys who asked about him the day before was in zone, so I told him where to find BQ, and he killed him . Was talking to same guy in tells and POP BQ was up in less than 5 minutes again. Led same guy to him and he killed him (no robe). About 20 mins later POP - BQ was up again (no robe).
Through BOTH of these days people were killing in various places (one was after Mage Epic, others XP'ing at 'Paw). So I cannot state which mob was killed and then BQ spawned. I also usually found him walking mostly FROM the north-west towards 'Paw, but never found a spawn point. Other days I have found him in south too, but most times he walks along several N-S paths from North-west area to down near Aviaks. His main path seems to be N-S, with some slightly angled N-S pathing close to 'Paw.
I know this post is not full of good specific details, but I can say I inevitably find him in the western half of the zone, mostly from Splitpaw (draw a N-S line from that point) to the west. That may not always be true, but it is where I have found him when tracking. This has been true MOST (90%+) of the time for me.
I hope this helps somewhat, and accept that anyone elses observations may need to adjust my observations.

Killed him with my 74 cleric, wasen't wearing robe when I killed him and did NOT drop the robe. Took about 5 or 6 min. to do. Lowest he got me was 94%hp and 93%mana.

Killed Brother Qwinn twice last 2 days. When he had no graphic, no robe dropped. Worn robe graphic (appears Burgundy in color) was on him when he did drop it. Someone mentioned the robe graphic appearing only* if he has it and spawns while you are in zone. This was not* the case for me, as I switched thru multiple toons in zone for MQ, prior to killing him, and all of them saw his robe on.
-- interesting note: when you do your turn in for Needle of the Void, he does not depop, so you can* kill him to check for a robe after-the-fact, if you'd like to keep one after you upgrade to the Whistling Fists robe.

I began my Monk epic a about a month ago and am now at the Celestial fists quest.
However, I am trying to document my path for those Monks that follow.
When I was camping the heads in SK I noticed Qwinn wander by the skellie camp. He was wearing regular Monk attire (not a robe). I was not ready for my hand in so I ignored him.
Last week when I went to hand in the drop from Targin, I found Qwinn immediately after I zoned in from NK ... he was to the right off the bridge just before the skellie camp. This time he was wearing a purple robe. I could have had him killed for the robe but I am trying to do my epic the old fashion way~
I assume that if you see him wearing the Robe, he will drop it. Yesterday when I made Brother Zephyl spawn he was not wearing the robe either. A Druid killed zephyl easily (level 65 I think) and he did not drop the robe.
The second time I got zephyl to spawn for my Raster hand in, he also was not wearing a robe.

Just took him down duo boxing 2 and 3 chars. 60 monk (tanked), 51 cleric, 55 necro, 55 shammy and a 60 mage.
Just hit pet attack with all three pet class' and healed with the low level cle and the shammy. Was quite busy healing and feeding the cle with the necro, so didn't have time to try a lotta spells on him, already knowing that he was unslowable, highly resistant and summoning. But i did throw a few, he resisted mostly though as expected. Resisted both necro debuff and dots, mage nukes, slows and dots from the shammy, BUT malo did land from the 60 mage and actually the 55 shammys disease debuff landed as well.
Well anyway, he only drop'ed the brown shirt and the black headband but he will be cake next time for sure. Might get another mate so i wont have to three box also ;)

can anyone confirm a robe drop in recent history? last month? want to make sure it isnt nerfed, nec can solo easy

Dropped the robe today. 061229, just had to wait a little and kill some random crap mobs... My monk is now a happy monk.

Tried to duo with a 70 wiz and 65 bst. Pet could not hold agro, no spells landed. Wizzie evac'd and I took one for the team (I think my pet was smart and evaced with the Wizzie). Just because he is old school don't think he is slow/weak/easy. In the words of my father, We're gonna need a bigger boat!

couldnt land a single spell on him
dark assassin pet soloed. I just cast dark salve on him a bunch.
with grave pact max flowing thought and a 9 mana regen clicky that statcks with FT ... i went from 11k mana to 9k mana casting heals. over my guess of a 4 min fight.
so i think any 70 necro can solo this regardless of gear.
ps my pet had no buffs and no mage pet weapons.
just the lv 64 pet haste.

Does anyone here actually have any helpful info on this guy? Like does he summon, cast, how many HPs about, how hard he hit for?
If a druid dies whilst trying to tank a green mob, does that make them a ranger?

I found Brother Qwinn wore the Robe yesterday.
Sure, He droped the Robe, tunic and headband.
He wear robe or tunic randomly if he have both, I think.

Just killed Brother Qwin and Brother Z within half an hour of each other. No Robe Drops, might see about getting a MQ of the whistleing fist robe and a note anyone know if that would work?

i got him to pop 3 time's befor the server went down but i coulded kill him i'm not a very good monk i'm level 70 monk looking to get the 1.0 so i don't have to do the pre-quest i have 4.2k hp unbuffed and 7.2k fully buffed and why coulded i kill him i used ever disk i had and i even used healing potion's and my mend what worry?

First of all, this is the worst camp i ever did, worst than Raster or Targin for monk epic, i'v had problems spawning him in the last 12 hours, such a pita.
Here's how i think it works:
Several mobs pop another named mob at a semi-random (not determined) spot in the zone, so they pop non-stop once you find them. I used a level 70 ranger to track them (thanks bamen).
Here's a list of the mobs you need to kill to get a successive spawn:
All the gnolls that are named a Nisch ...
an ancient cyclops
an escaped Splitpaw gnoll
an Ishva Lteth gnoll

High Shaman Grisok

Although it was nice of ya to try to assist others with this info, unfortunatly it is very misleading. As stated just under the initial post, Lord Grimrot is his own spawn. Furthermore, Quillmane is not on this cycle either. She is on a cycle, but Qwinn and Quill will be up at the same time often (and being as I have ran the quillmane cycle probably 50 times now, Qwinn never shows up on it. The Ishva Mal is a static spawn with a ph, not part of any cycle. The named gnolls (Nisch Val Torash etc etc etc) are products of killing the other roaming gnolls around splitpaw, as they where moved into SK when infected paw was revamped. The shaman (ren rex, lenrel, high shaman phido etc) I don't believe are on the spawn cycle, as I have killed them all several times and they seem to influence their own spawns, as part of the headband quests. The rest, I am not sure of and may in fact be a part of the qwinn pattern.
Just thought I would clear up some of the info as to make it less confusing and let people work with what is left. Hopefully someone can figure out the exact spawn patter as was done with Quillmane over several years of speculations.

Lord Grimrot has nothing to do with this spawn or any cycle in the zone.
He is a static spawn with a 3 1/2 hour respawn of either the live version or undead version or another putrid skeleton.

I just killed him last night with my 68 mage for fun and he gave zero faction messages. Child of Wind (66 mage pet) with no HP buffs and me healing him took the guy down. Fight took about 3 minutes tops and I didn't waste any mana nuking him because of his resists. I was at about 30% mana at the end of the fight with roughly 5500 mana pool, KEI, and FT 11. He dropped the shirt and the headband. Hope this information helps somebody get what they need from him. Be safe.

This is incorrect. Brother Qwinn gives no faction hit at all. (He may well be on Beta Neutral faction).

If you had read it all instead of complaining you would have find out that there seems to be no PH for him. He is just spawning from time to time and follows a given route. It is all in here. Just read.
I killed Brother Zephyl the other day. He dropped the Robe for me first time around. Got my monks epic in a day. Went back to kill Brother Zephyl in Rathe Mountains, just to get the robe again. This time i have killed him a total of (5 times), and Brother Quinn(2 times) in Southern Karana... both of them are dropping Cloth Tunic and headband only. Both of them max hit for 356points.
New info:Killed Brother Zephyl again this morning. He dropped the Robe of Lost Circles again. This time i noticed that the First Brother Zephyl that i killed that morning before at around 2:30Am, (real life time)dropped the robe also. So both times i killed him at around 2:30Am (real life time)he dropped robe....but all the other times that i killed him, he dropped headband, torn cloth tunic,and sometimes human blood.
Oh btw....was kinda strange, while tanking him with my Ranger i saw Brother Zephyl wearing a red robe.....but on my Cleric, he wasnt. That happened both times i killed him, when he dropped the ROLC.
Chars Used: 70 Ranger max tracking and logged my 70 Cleric when Brother Zephyl respawned.
Location of camp: -548.17, 746.66, 16.30(Brother Zephyl, Rathe Mountains) and Brother Qwinn was wondering around South Karana.
Mobs killed: A drake (lvl 25ish), Hasten Bootstrutter (lvl 40), Maldyn the Unkempt (lvl 35ish), Brother Zephyl (lvl 61)
Personal Opinion: Kill Brothers until you get Robe of Lost Circles. Really no points in doing Sub quest for it. Seems some people have put some serious hours into that quest.
As far as the pipes. I camped Karnors for 30mins and got pipe..camped Chardok with my girlfriend and killed a Iksar Betrayer on second spawn..
I went back to get pipes again right after i got Celestial Fist. Same exact thing happen to me ..this time i waited a little longer for Karnors (Pawduster) to spawn, both times i seen him spawn in Warlords room, he spawned 3rd mob from the door.
Well i hope this information will help the next guy that kills either brother.

It seems you have to be in the zone when he spawns in order to see him wearing the Robe - anyone zoning in after that will see him with the 'monk chestwraps'.
EDIT: This now seems to have been changed/fixed -- I just saw him with the Robe, couldn't believe he could have spawned within 1 minute of me having zoned in, so I checked by zoning to Splitpaw and back -- and he still showed the Robe.

ok...i have a 65 ranger, who when he has Wunshi and Conv is at about 5.5 to 6.5 (or maybe 7k) hp..and KEI'ed at a mana of a little under 4k.. would i be able to take this guy down?

kill while fabled were up and was bored me 61 ranger a 61-63 not sure a 58 pally healing and a 56 mage who keep dieing droped head band and blood i think almost did it with just me and monk but monk wasnt buffed welland was tanking

i killed him just now...dropped black headband and shirt...no robe
very easy fight had rogue (magelo should be in sig) and 67 cleric with 5k mana. only threw 2 chs and like 3 hots
hit 336 dmg max on me a bit fast but not too bad.

Got robe off Q today (3/23/05 12:32 am) on Veeshan. Was my first time to kill him, Was a 56 warrior, 56 SK, 61 Ranger, 66 Ranger, and Me (50 monk) he dropped Robe of the Lost Circle, and Black Headband.... Spawned right next to paw while we were trying for fabled Quillmane.

I been killing him lately as I can find him up. I am somewhere round 7 or 8 kills i would say on him now with 0 robes ;(. I have also killed Bro Z a few times with no luck, but I hate campin him because he is a pain to spawn with a bad drop rate on robe it seems. I was just wondering if anyone has gotten this PoS to drop a robe lately.

He does still drop it. Saw a guy get one about two weeks ago. I tried to get one from the brothers and after over 30 kills nothing so I did the quest. Turned out not to be as hard as I thought but still time consuming.

i have a 67 super druid buddy, has about 400+ aa's and is time/elemental geared plus has a few drops from OoW. could he be able to take this guy or would it require more people?

Sir Nandruar is not a ph for Qwin. i was looking for Qwin other day for turn in and only saw the undead cyclops up. killed him then saw that Nandruar was up and didnt realy wana kill him with 53 monk and 62 ranger but was gona try it. as i was running towards where he spawned i checked track agian and saw brother Qwin was up. not sure on any other ph's as only killed the cyclops.

yeah. noticed the same thing with Brother Qwinn being much harder since the patch on july 14th. wonder why they would go and change him after so long. on a side note, i have yet to see quillmane since then either. hmm
He is definitely not a placeholder for Quillmane - both were up at the same time last night.
gave qwinn one more shot, got him to 73% solo with 65 bard (50aa 3200hp 1170ac) with no buffs.. then i had to zone. I figure anyone who actually still wants to kill this guy will needs probably 3+ pet classes and a cleric or just a big group of pet classes (necro, mage, BL, shammy)....just let the pets do the work and keep making new pets as they die. other then that dont cast on qwinn at all he is 100% mr, hits alot faster then he used to..he was able to hit me for a max of 356
patch yesterday, Qwinn no longer soloable by me at least...used to solo him with my 65bard, cant do it any longer, he hits harder and faster

Just killed him. Hes extremely easy considering I soloed him and only buffs I had were virtue and my self casted ones. Hits very slow but hard, highest hit was mid 300's. He also missed me alot, more than mobs usually do, I didn't even need to use LoH. He resisted all my spells and casted weapon proc but not the proc on my weapon. When I saw him he wasn't wearing robe but he did drop it along with black head band.

killed him today *Brother Qwinn* he was wearing the robe when i first saw him, then i zoned and came back in and it was gone.. but i still decided to kill him... AND IT DROPPED.. killed him with a 62 Druid and ME 58 Monk.. he hits VERY slow.. most he hit for was about 330, resisted everthing even Procs. GL

Went to help a guildie of mine with his alt's epic... ran into this guy and asked about him, so I started attacking him... he resisted all my spells, even harm touch... sucked! Only got hit from 200-250, and he hit VERY slow...
