Killed as a newly 79 mage, w/ T1 Journey Merc and 79 earth pet. No buffs other than self, and merc buffs. Summoned 5 Gellid's, put 4 on ground. Pulled w/ Mala, gave pet aggro. Waited 10-15 seconds for aggro to build. Launched Host of Elements, Frenzied burnout, Swarm pet, casted Aegis on pet whenever it came up. Used Gellid and chain casted entire fight. Not once did Maligan cast anything. Pet stayed above 50% w/ merc on Balanced. I went OOM nuking + using swarm pet like crazy, but by that time, Maligan was dead. Merc was @ 70%. Dropped Mask of Dark Intent. Easy.
Same strategy used for The Claybeast and The Blight Wisp. Both easy fights, especially The Blight Wisp (seems to not have as many HP as the others)

While killing Malign i noticed he had an effect called Negative energy field on, i despelled it, and he recast it later in the fight. I think this is like the SK "Shroud" Line, and allowes him to proc the Negative Energy Field drain de-spelling this might make the fight a bit less tough

Edit: I borrowed a ranger, and natures balance will remove the Negative Emergy Drain buff. He will rebuff himself though, which will spike up dps again.

Yup, it's a pain in the ass. I got him to 17% before he rebuffed and then his HP stopped dropping :(

he has been up 3 times in the past 15 minutes at the same location... killed him and he keeps respawning in 5 minutes.

7500 damage lifetap. At least, it seemed like a lifetap. Could have been just a damage proc. Killed my lvl 77 war merc immediately, followed by my berserker box. The message was as follows:
You feel your soul drawn away. You have taken 7500 points of damage.

Malign staggers.
Berserker was hit twice in rapid succession. First was for "only" 5000 damage.
