Memory Blur cast on the pet after the master is dead will pop the pet, and it will simply vanish. No exp no corpse but no hassle. I assume that other hate-list wipe spells (Atone etc) will also work.

Found with a Greater Kobold Shaman and are not very tough compared to the Greater Kobolds or the Greater Kobold Shaman. They drop nothing.
