What gives? My Drakkin Mage (deity Veeshan) tried to buy from him and he won't sell to me...not even with illusion Gnome...says he doesn't sell to anyone of my ilk...and you can't buy from him invised cause it drops every time you right click on him...anyone have an answer?

PS - Would using the LoN loot item Tear of Tranquility on him solve this problem? It's effect says it reduces hate by 5000?

PSS - Con dubious so equiped two opal encrusted steins to raise CHA close to 200..still wouldn't sell to me...added illusion human...still wouldn't sell to me...tried the Tear of Tranquility and that only made him and the clockwork standing near him attack me and had to gate out to avoid being killed...so it's either mage which I can't change or deity which I can't change...guess if I want the boots I'll have to raise faction with him by killing kobolds...think it may be easier to get the journeyman's boots unless someone knows how to raise faction with him quickly as I don't feel like wasting time killing a thousand kobolds just to get enough faction to buy these damn boots...

anyone can get these at level 5 using rogue shroud + sneak + stand behind npc =indiff faction

they cost me about 6900 plat or so with the shroud on (cant equip CHA steins in shroud) . I suggest buying a few invis potions in PoK . With hide+sneak for invis you can only walk and it will take forever when youre holding that much plat. Don't fall in the lava in sol A or you'll die. theres some invis walls, just follow map.. theres also a door that can only be opened with a nearby button on the wall (its one way)

I had no idea this little guy existed. Running back to PoK now for some pp.

Is this merchant still there? Selling the same item? Or did he get nerfed?

Is it safe to assume there is a Banker nearby? It's kinda a long and dangerous journey to this guy for there not to be, let alone the weight of carring all that plat.

why don't you get someone you trust to buy it for you that isn't a DE SK and then have them give ti to you?

I am a DE SK, I got to him and used essence of gnome..... The disguise was fine but.... he will not sell to SK's. Any Idea that WILL work?

How hard is this little guy to get to? As a 51 Druid, do I need to bring a full group with me to get to him? Or would a high level Monk/Warrior be enough to escort me to him? Any help would be appreciated.

Iksar monks, like human monks can use nearly every vendor in the game, regardless of faction. Just like bards and rogues, all monks get sneak.

That aside, killing kobolds in SolB improves faction.

Does anyone know if a DE wizard can buy from this guy??

i am a de mage and i really want this boots will the gnome sell to me ? im to low to raise the faction with them also if i get a mask that has halfling ilusion will that work? will the invis
trick work also ? orwolf form?

Can Iksars Necros buy these boots?? If I was to fd and then the npc would con indifferant, could I buy them?

can you do the traditional invisible trick to con indifferent and buy the stuff of him?

Anyone know what Earth Elemental illusion cons to him? IE - Ball of Clay from CT could be used if it improves faction.

I'm the author in the last post. Now after 14 days or so killing about 100 a night, all the gnomes con "aprehensive." I can purchase the boots from the merchant for 7224pp.

So if u are determined you can raise faction with the merchant, no matter what race/class combo you start with. I am DE/Necro.... we start with the worst faction of all.

I started "Ready to attack" with general population of Gnomes. I started out "Dubious" with the tinker merchant. Now, after a week of faction improvement, I am "Dubious" with them both. I had to ask myself: "How could I raise two faction levels with the one set of gnomes and stay the same with the merchant?" What I figure is this:

The Merchant cannot drop below "dubiousy". If he did he would be attacking 50+ players and get slaughtered. He cannot con higher than the general population of gnomes, however. When the rest of the gnomes con "aprehensively" then I expect the merchant's con to rise to "apresehsive" also and at that time be able to buy the boots from him.

By the same token, the freeport guards are KOS yet the merchants are dubious. If the merchants were kos to me there would be a lot of unhappy newbees with no where to shop...heheh. I would expect the merchants to remain dubious until, the unlikely ocassion, I raised my con higher than dubious with the freeport folk.

Rasing faction with the gnomes is not easy. I kill 25 mobs per hour in sol b and it has taken a few week palying four hours a night... and I'm not there yet. But I still feel it is better than wasting a week camping the AC and having nothing to show for it.

i have a 51st lvl de wizzy and a 35th lvl iksar warrior...i have conned the tink bag vendor with both and they r both dubious to him yet scowled at by the clockworks...i even tried killing the vendor with my wizzy to see if there was any different factions involved...there is none...u get the same faction for him as a clockwork...what is the deal? how can i get 2 different cons from mobs on exactly the same faction? can anybody explain this to me before my head explodes?

I'm evil, I admit it. I even worship Inny. That was my parents fault tho. Now I need to haggle with this fine lad and I can't. So killing kobolds in SolB is all I need to do? What about the gobblies.

This guy is a merchant, so don't attack him. He gives no experience when killed, and leaves no corpse, so don't take a faction hit for nothing and just leave him be. Besides hes very nice for selling to before you con dubious from slaughtering the gnomes.

He may be a vendor but like all the gnomes he's linked to Solusek Mining Co faction, not the Merchants of Ak'Anon faction.

You can get this faction up by killing kobolds in Sol B.

price is 5250 for my indifferently-to-gnomes bard with 124 in charisma.
