These mages tend to be found near the golbin king, within Solusek's Eye. They have a very nasty AE rain spell, which can decimate unprepared parties.

Goblin Mage is lvl 28 WIZ caster (they are not Mages). Spawn in the king’s room and in the 2 rooms near that room. They have PH in all 3 rooms so make sure the rooms are clear if you are after them. They spawn cycle time is 16 to 18 min for all PH. They also spawn in the room near Lynada The Exiled and near the Lava river in the middle of the zone.
If you are after the boots, they are a RARE drop of the Mages. The boots drops on average 1 of 15 to 25 kills.
NOW -
If you are one of these how have never been there before and last night was the first time you ever saw a goblin and this 1 mage you killed before you evac had the boots on him? – Please spare the rest of us the frustration of hearing about it.
We really need to get back to basics here. When posting I thing we need useful information first (things like spawn cycle time, location ,etc) and “ I got this on the first try” stories at the end.
Most of us reading this are not so lucky.
Good luck,

Faeddar Ringformer lvl 56 chanter
Dazza Port – lvl 53 Druid.

At 45(!) finally got around to returning to Sol A. Spent 3-4 levels here earlier but could never get the boots (or the vanbraces). Usually had trouble staying alive back behind the Throne Room and didn't nkow any better.

This time in about three hours saw three sets of Firewalker Boots from Mages and three Vambraces from Champions. 45 Bard, 32 Enchanter, 40 Cleric, 31 Beastlord wandered back there together after I had soloed in the hallway for a while. We cleared the roaming mob (Sol Goblin) in the hallway and pulled singles from the first room in the back. King's Room actually had the King in it, and he dropped his Insignia Ring. Was able to pull him singly with Chains or Syvelian, I forget which. His room usually has a caster and a non-caster, sometimes two casters, usually wizards or mages. The shamans always seemed to pop for us in the big Throne Room along with a "Large Solusek Goblin". Did not see any champion pops in the Throne Room, only in the King's Room and the entry alcove. We saw lots of both Champs and Mages. We kept all the rooms back there cleared out for quite a while and had pops coming up pretty often. Almost always a nearby Champ or Mage on track... Over to the East, there were a couple more that we never did get to, but in the "Goblin Castle" area the whole circuit from the Merchant to the King's corridor to the SW was ours for most of that time.

Anyway, main point I wanted to make was about the rareness of the drops, ...Not So... Maybe the rate has been changed cause I am not that lucky...

To the person who said...

"...once again the Bard Lambent quests are the most unbalanced of the quests (cleric Armor quests are a close 2nd) not only are the components scattered across the entire world..."

You obviously have never attempted the Armor of Ro quest for a Paladin. These are a piece of cake compared to those quests. I'm doing a set for a friend of mine. I can guarantee you it won't take me the 2 months the Ro armor did.

Well lets see. I was lvl 6 with my monk. and I had a 40 cleric backing me up (yup I was getting PLed). Anywho, I killed a young kodiak. And low and behold, I got 7 blue bubs of exp. I'm not kidding. so sorry to say it, but your little "rule" about exp... is blatently wrong.

well gratz on ur pl'ed kill but he is right there is a limit on xp that u can gain HOWEVER u might have gotten this great amount of XP because that certain mob has an xp bonus and this might be the reason why the xp limit doesnt aply to this case i also have heard from a guildy who got help killing an Evil Eye in the gorge of king whatever (im not sure about the zone name) and she said she got a full yellow as well so i hope that clears things up.

Nope :p once again the Bard Lambent quests are the most unbalanced of the quests (cleric Armor quests are a close 2nd) not only are the components scattered across the entire world - most a uncommon Drops off fairly high level mobs (Well high level to you when you at the point of questing anyways) But you'll most likely need ((2)) uncommon drops PER item. Then to finally top it off the Lambent stones drop off Giant/griffs etc but to make the Lambent rubies etc etc you need the stone AND 2 of the required Gems. No wonder 90% of the bards Ive talked to have no idea what the quests are - Its easier to just make a Druid - Port around for a month or so then start twinking your Bard with singing steel etc etc. In conclusion I think the Lambent Armor series is pretty much obsolete once a Bard can actually geta full set unless hes had LOTS of help /rant off
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 24 2001 at 3:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No, at level 1 when I twinked out my SK and i went to EC and killed a red Black Bear, they were giving me around 1 yellow and 2 blue bubbles per kill. Believe what you want, but that's the truth.

now if u tried to kill a Solusek Mage, at lvl 1, and posted "i died hopelessly", then fair enough.
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 10 2001 at 7:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) so what good is that to me, some of the posts on this website really are pointless.

lol you DO know that you can kill even cons at lvl 1 and still get boatloads of xp... that prolly would have taken a LOT less time
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 22 2001 at 11:33 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Naggy is scarey =( so dont fight him but i saw a lvl 1 fighting him but he wasnt really fighting he just wanted the loot =)

How common is the firewalker boots? I've camped him for a long time and no sign of them. Do the firewalker boots drop off something else?

Not sure if I was lucky or what, but the first Solusek Mage that my party killed dropped the Firewalker Boots. Very convenient for me! I will say this, he does nuke pretty well for a mage. It says on here that he is level 28. He conned blue to my 31st level bard, but he along with a Solusek Champion gave me, a 30th chanter, and a 31st level ranger a pretty good little battle.

i dont get it but when i killed this thing i got 1 bub of xp. it wsa blue to me. I was so startled and excited but i was wonderin why. Im not sure but i think the first one of these things u kill you get a bub of xp. May have been an error in game if so LUCKY ME but i dont think so. Oh ya it droped somethin wierd like a rune of the rephacy. No drop, No trade, Lore so im SURE its a quest i dont know which one butill see if i cna find out
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 19 2000 at 7:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) umm, if what you say is true (?) it *is* a bug, since you cannot get more than 1/11 of yourlevel per kill in EQ, even if you're a lvl 1 soloing naggy.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 08 2001 at 8:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) sorry i didn't say that clearly. yes, i meant a blue bub of exp. my bad
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 21 2001 at 6:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) When you're level 1 or 2, if you kill an even con, you get more than 1/11 of your level, so this rule is wrong.
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 14 2001 at 5:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) it is true, look at your exp when you kill at lvl 1 or if you're lvl 20 killing lvl 50 mob, your exp per kill will not go above 2 and half blue bubbles per kill.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 20 2002 at 2:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) if this was true you would need 11 kill to get to lvl 2 and i can get there in 4 to 5 kill on rats and DFpawns so this is not ture sorry
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 03 2001 at 4:17 PM, Rating: Unrated, (Expand Post) It wasnt banned for no reason, it was banned because you did something stupid that was patently against the rules. Your account probably wasn't "randomly chosen", it probably escaped notice of the GM staff until you were at the right place at the right time. Moral of the story is, if you act like an adult and use common sense you will have many hours of pleasant eq time. If you do something stupid and childish to get a reaction, you get removed. Their policies are clearly posted, and if you take the time to read the base rules of the game you play you'd save yourself some grief.
